Drummer stays on her feet and flashes into visibility with a blur of blades that glance harmlessly off of the heavily armored creature. Dardanius stays on his feet, but his arrows fly errantly past the beast. Weed lurches forwards towards the obelisk, quietly chanting and bleeding on it, causing a pulse of purple light to flash from the stone; the door now fully materialized on this plane of existance. Turran's blade cuts into the monster, causing a small wound. Dog loses his footing and falls to his knees on the shifting sands.

The massive creature slowly transforms into the figure of an elderly man that has clearly lived many years in the desert. His now shattered body has the following valuables (which can be used if identified now): Ring of protection +2; amulet of mighty fists +2; bracers of armor +3; ring of eloquence; headband of inspired wisdom +4.
The speaking sand image has vanished and the lightning storm is quickly dissipating.
Weed sees/is in: A long room decorated with tapestries covering the left and right walls. A large wheel with a winch is mounted on the far wall by a door. The wall on the other side of the door's location has some strange stonework that Weed guesses is a secret entrance. Pegs and hooks are mounted on the near and far walls.

The tapestries do not detect as evil.
The first thing that strikes you is the tapestries are hundreds if not thousands of years old. You wonder what power has preserved them all these years...
The tapestries depict a series of scenes that appear to tell the tale of a young prince that becomes king through the agency of dark magics. Once the prince becomes king it looks like waves of plague descend upon his lands and undead crop up in its wake. His justice is harsh and cruel and finally the people rise up behind a righteous warrior and after a long and deadly struggle overthrow the king, entombing him in a pyramid prison.
