Vampire GM By Day |
Okay, before we get started, need a few things from everyone:
1) does the character you are playing have credit from playing/running AP 1, book 1 (Dead suns book 1)
2) Does the character you are playing have the high society (Royo) boon (from Scenario 1-05)
3) Does your character have the ‘Dream Whispers’ boon from Scenario 1-16?
4) Does your character have the ‘Starfinder insignia’ boon from either into the unknown?
5) Everyone’s theme
Also: while this scenario TECHNICALLY doesn’t have the starship tag, it does have you doing things in a starship, so you probably want to determine what starship roles you’ll be in and take that into account.
Jaqweh Navar |
Hey GM Vamp! Thanks for running this. I do apologize for not offering to run Protectorate Petition for you. I haven't jumped into GMing Starfinder yet, nor GMing anything on PBP yet. Someday. Soon(tm)
1-4) No to all.
FWIW, Commencement has "Marked Field Agent" and Into the Unknown has "Starfinder Insignia." But to be clear, Jaqweh has neither.
5) Theme = Tempered Pilgrim
Starship Roles:
Usually, he's the Captain, but with another Envoy on the crew, he can Pilot (+10), Gunner, or in a pinch can fill Engineer (+5) or Science Officer (+6 computers).
Kultainen Vaimo |
1: No, never played dead suns
2: Yes. Royo owes Kultanien a favor!
3: Yes. Last scenario even!
4: Kultanien has "Marked Field Agent" from The Commencement.
5: Xeno-Seeker!
Starship: Last time she was a captain (okay diplomacy) but she could do other roles (although not very well)
Science (computers) +6
Engineer (engineering) +6
Guns... (DEX+BAB) +5
Pilot.. (pilot) +10
Captain (diplomacy) +13+1d6+1
Jaqweh, if you want to captain, that is fine. Kultanien is more than happy to take another seat, she's pretty relaxed that way.
Kultainen Vaimo |
This is a 3-6 scenario. So a level 1 is unfortunately not an option.
However there are pre-gens available at level 4, if the GM is willing. That provides credit for you that you can apply to a real character.

MedWolfe77: Kulthinen is right, technically speaking, Starfinder society does not allow a level one to play this scenario. And she is also right that you can play one of the seven pregenerated characters at level 4 and apply credit to your character in a couple of ways. And I would be happy to do that for you. However, I might suggest starting with a tier 1-4 scenario with your level 1 operative just so you can get a feel for Starfinder before you start playing at higher levels. Just an opinion, you might have an easier time of it. There are always new games firing off on the boards.
So, yes, you can, and yes, I'd of course allow it, but it may not be the best way to start your starfindering career.
Pvt. Hudson |
Hello all!
Am flying today, so should be able to read and post in airports, otherwise tonight at the latest.
Zoombo Deskarin |
A small, orange skittermander enters the room, dressed in a stylish cream-colored suit and sipping on a can of orange soda.
"Hi everyone! Your nufriend Zoombo Deskarin is here! My friends call me 'Zoom', and since you're all my nufriends, that's what you can call me!"
Zoom takes a sip of orange soda.
"What's this? Questions?"
Zoom has Marked Field Agent from the commencement but nothing else listed in 1-4.
Theme: Bounty Hunter. Zoom is a detective who will go to any lengths to find (and help!) his mark. Oftentimes helping means bringing back to a jail cell, but if you're out committing evil acts it's for your own good!
"Oh! Oh! I can help out my nufriends by flying our starship! I'm pretty good at piloting or gunning! Pew pew pew! I can also do science stuff, or engineering, or be all inspiring for you all, but uh, I haven't studied all that other stuff very much. But I'll do whatever needs to be done to help!"
Pvt. Hudson |
Hello all!
Happy to be playing with most all of you! (xD)
And thanks a lot for running this.
If you end up not getting the 1-22 around June 18, tell me, and I can always run it again.
1) does the character you are playing have credit from playing/running AP 1, book 1 (Dead suns book 1)
Pvt. Hudson has DM credit for this.
2) Does the character you are playing have the high society (Royo) boon (from Scenario 1-05)
No credit from 1-05.
3) Does your character have the ‘Dream Whispers’ boon from Scenario 1-16?
"That's a negative, cap'n!"
4) Does your character have the ‘Starfinder insignia’ boon from either into the unknown?
"Aye, cap'n, I do!"
5) Everyone’s theme
Death Touched
Also: while this scenario TECHNICALLY doesn’t have the starship tag, it does have you doing things in a starship, so you probably want to determine what starship roles you’ll be in and take that into account.
Hudson can either be:
• Gunner
• Main gunner
• Secondary gunner
• Back up gunner
• Extra gunner
• Oh, yes, he can pilot, but if he has to we are in deep doo doo
Hadir, Psychic Knight |
1) does the character you are playing have credit from playing/running AP 1, book 1 (Dead suns book 1)
Yes! I ran this for some friends in RL and applied it to Hadir
2) Does the character you are playing have the high society (Royo) boon (from Scenario 1-05)
No.
3) Does your character have the ‘Dream Whispers’ boon from Scenario 1-16?
No.
4) Does your character have the ‘Starfinder insignia’ boon from either into the unknown?
Yes! I GMed it for some friends in RL and applied it to Hadir.
5) Everyone’s theme
Priest of Weydan.
And I am the one who is currently in a game. I expect that we have 1-2 encounters remaining. We are moving at a steady pace, so lower bound on finishing up is probably a few days; upper bound is a couple weeks. If y'all want to pick a start date then I can just pull my name from the list if I'm not ready by that date. Or you can just wait until I'm done. It is a GM shifty game so it won't drag on.
Pvt. Hudson |
Hudson pops a fresh piece of gum into his mouth: "I'm not paid by the hour, so I don't care when we start, or when we finish. I get the same paycheck!"
Pvt. Hudson |
Hudson grins and points out his shoulder patch: "The Acquisitives, man. Good pay. Why don't you apply to join?"
Jaqweh Navar |
The handsome lashunta wearing an impeccably clean and pressed Steward's estex suit flicks an imperceptibly small bit of detritus from the cuff of his left sleeve. He points to the officer's insignia at his collar as he comments, "Or you could join the Stewards, make a difference, and serve the greater good of the Pact Worlds. And get paid, too."
He pauses for a heartbeat, then laughs at his own joke. "I sound like a recruiting holo, don't I? Sorry, it was too easy. The pay's not that great, to be honest."
Hadir, Psychic Knight |
It looks like I am only halfway thru my current game. Go ahead and remove me from the campaign and let someone else take my spot. I don't want to hold y'all up
Pvt. Hudson |
Hudson, goes for his sidearm.
"A spy!"
Welcome.
Hadir, Psychic Knight |
GM, please remove Hadir from the active players list for this campaign. Thanks!
Hadir, Psychic Knight |
Does anyone know how to remove someone from a PbP game? I can’t seem to figure out how to do it.
Been a while since I GMed a game, but you either do it from the Campaign Info tab or maybe the Characters tab.
GM Aerondor |
Campaign tab, edit it, and go all the way to the bottom. It is quite well hidden. Remove the tick boxes from the player and character.
Jaqweh Navar |
Sorry for not being involved. My flying /sleeping schedule has been crazy. I'll get caught up on this game about 24 hours from now when I get a reasonable layover. Please bot culture, computer, etc checks as needed. Again, very sorry.
Kultainen Vaimo |
I'm going to be away with a cub camp this weekend, so you may need to bot me.
Generally Kultanien will use inspiring boost on anyone wounded in the last round - or fire her pistol if nobody can benefit from it.
And will use get'em to help everyone target the most wounded creature.
Pvt. Hudson |
@Zoombo: I am not trying to step in for the GM, just pointing out a game rule.
Trick attack uses a full action. After firing, Zoom moves at half speed to duck behind a nearby corner.
The thing is, a full action uses up all your turn, and if you take a full action, you can’t take any other standard, move, or swift actions that turn.
So you cannot move like that after the trick attack. And trick attack obliges you to take the move part of the trick attack before attacking.
Zoombo Deskarin |
Whoops, for some reason I thought you could move before or after the TA as part of the full action. Turns out it's only before. I'll move myself back to where I was before scooting over 10 feet.
Pvt. Hudson |
Shot on the Run (feat) is good to take
Need 4 BAB and to take Mobility as a pre req, but it lets you move whenever
Pvt. Hudson |
Not that it matters much, but Engineering to open a lock is Disable Device (You can use Engineering to disable a lock) and Due to the danger, you cannot take 20 on an Engineering check to disable a device.
Pvt. Hudson |
Yes, I was just pointing out for info', for later. No problem anyhow.
Zoombo Deskarin |
In about 12 hours I'm heading out of town for the weekend with the family. I should have both an internet connection and time to post at the same time, but in case I don't I'll be back about this time on Sunday (72 hours from now). Zoom will continue chasing and hopefully trick attacking (using stun for non-lethal) the bear and any other applicable opponents. His attack and damage bonus have been in previous posts from me, and he trick attacks at a 1d20+16 (Sense Motive) for an addditional 1d8 damage.
In case Zoom takes more damage, after taking 11 damage from the bear, Zoom is at:

Hey all, I hat to do this, but it looks like both my computers died in about a month of each other, and I don’t have the money to replace either of them. This means I. And the generate chronicle sheets or make lists very well. I’m going to look into getting my local VO to help me in getting sheets out to you.
In the mean time, feel free to use these characters in other PBP games, I’m back-date the chronicle sheets to today. Again-Sorry.
Kultainen Vaimo |
If you want I can cut basic chronicles for everyone.
I'd need your GM name&number Vampire and confirmation about fame/reputation/credit gain. Have you already done the online region reporting?
From everyone I'd need the faction you have slotted, your PFS #, and your name/character name.
Optionally you can also provide me your starting xp/cr/fame, chronicle # etc but I know most PBP GMs leave those blank.
Spy.... |
I know the GM personally. I'll go ahead and assist in this process as well. We should have those to ya'll at the latest by Friday of next week.
Zoombo Deskarin |
If this is the end of the scenario, thank you very much for running everything VampByDay! And it's been a pleasure playing with all of you.
Zoom will hand out cans of orange soda to all of you once we get back to the ship, and propose a toast. First, to the lost Starfinders on the Amber Reconnoiter, and then another, to the Starfinders under Jadnura and Luwasi Elsebo's leadership who never leave a Starfinder behind, and finally, to all of you, the most helpful crew he's ever had the pleasure of exploring the Drift with! He wishes you all nothing but success in your future adventures, and, after taking a deep sip of soda, says you know how to reach him if you ever need help!
It's been a ton of fun. Thanks everyone!
Pvt. Hudson |
More free orange soda?!
This is the best moment of the adventure for Hudson.
"TOAST!"
