Kasumi the Vexatious |
I misfired twice in a row on my gunslinger earlier this week, so I feel your pain.
Kasumi moves into the next room, wiggling her fingers on the way. She has a plan... but she'll have to be careful in her approach.
In the meantime--
"Swiggity swooty, fall on your booty!"
Another Stumble Gap, DC16 reflex where she's standing. If nothing else, I can still give her a -1 on all rolls!
Rondolpho Keene |
The three Keene’s take a 5’ step to close with the demon. He activates his Ranger’s Focus and swings twice, suing the Haste magic to try and Harry the demon.

Mivvy Hetherington |
I've thrown Igneous into herolab so that it can calculate the buffs for me. That's what I'm rolling with. Also, he has an oil of bless weapon from Urzaia so ignore DR and auto-crit. I'm throwing in power attack.
Igenous swings for the daemon.

Kyle "Worg" H |
With 7 HP left, I am going to call this fight. With the promotion I got at work keeping my attention for training and Christmas going on, I will resume posting after holidays are done.
Here is the ultimate question; you can bow out now and claim your chronicle, or you can stay and finish up quests to get an additional reward that is definitely worth considering, and it will not affect gold value or reporting. Go ahead and take some time to decide. I will see you all after the holidays.
Mivvy Hetherington |
This is a fun group, I’d rather keep going.
Cyfarchion y tymor!
Mivvy stares at the writhing corpse of the daemon, ”How could anyone be such a buffoon as to ally with that?!”
Father Urzaia Conflict |
Press on, my completionist disease requires it.
Kasumi the Vexatious |
Agreed!
At this point, Kasumi is practically glowing with arcane energy, and a few wisps of will are visible.
”If they’re smart: fear. If not... power, I guess?” she reasons.
”Either way, it may be wise to rest up before we carry on, unless we can do without some of my better spells.”
Mivvy Hetherington |
”Perhaps in the attic? This is not a comfortable environment.”
Mivvy casts detect magic across the room and searched the place.
perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13
Father Urzaia Conflict |
Alright, let's sweep the house first. We've already found secret passages and a hidden basement. Who knows what else is lurking.
Urzaia starts by going over the bodies.
Perception: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (6) + 13 = 19
Prakriti Neela Yaadu |
Yep, happy to keep going to finish the quests.
"Is everyone OK?" Prakriti regains her ability to speak in Common as the daemon falls. She offers healing to anyone who may still require it.
Healing spells of various strength on offer as needed. Roll as required.
Mivvy Hetherington |
Mivvy looks down at herself, feeling the tension leave her body and realising that she is unhurt.
”Well, I appear to have had a soupçon of good fortune. Branda and the Good Father, on the other hand...”
Mivvy grimaces at Branda’s wounds: somehow, injuries to a retired adventurer seem worse.
They need restoration, as well as hit point healing.
Father Urzaia Conflict |
That last spell took care of the physical wounds, but I guess she may have left a few new mental scars.
GM Worg |
Igneous and Branda just sit together in silence. "We will go with whatever you think is best, but either waiting here until it is safe until you are ready to go back to town would be best for us."
Alright, happy holidays, back to posting on games.
The party finds a few interesting things on the Erodaemon. A bundle of gems that emanate a dark magic aura. It appears they are used for collecting souls. The other is a collar on her neck that appears to be rather interesting...
Gorget of Living Whispers
Neck Slot
Once per day as a standard action, the wearer of this collar can speak a suggested course of action. Her words coalesce into a living whisper—a sinuous creature with blue runes lining its back—that appears in a square adjacent to her. The living whisper uses the statistics of a fiendish venomous snake (Pathfinder RPG Bestiary 255, 294), but has an Intelligence score of 3 and can communicate telepathically with the gorget’s wearer. Instead of being poisoned, any creature bitten by the living whisper must succeed at a DC 14 Will save or be affected by a suggestion spell (CL 9th).
This suggestion is determined when the living whisper is summoned and affects all creatures bitten by it. Creatures that can read Aklo can read the runes on the living whisper and know what suggestion is carried by its bite. A living whisper lasts for 1 minute or until slain.
Apologies for the current pacing, but with my promotion at work, training for it, and holidays keeping us busy, I will do what I can to at least get some posting done. After new years is over, I should be able to get a pace back.
Mivvy Hetherington |
spellcraft: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
”Hmm, not my kind of magic, the collar. So, do these contain souls? Should we release them?” Mivvy holds up a gem and squints at it.
Father Urzaia Conflict |
Branda, Igneous, why don't you follow us while we sweep the house. Once it's clear you can stay here for a couple days while we clear the surrounding are of unnatural threats.
Prakriti Neela Yaadu |
"I doubt I can be of much help with the collar but let me have a look at that thing as well."
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
Mivvy Hetherington |
”How peculiar! Does anyone want to give it a try?”
Mivvy tries to rub out the summoning circles with her heel.
GM Worg |

"Your suggestion seems like the sensible idea. Perhaps it is time to finally take retirement easy." Branda halfway mutters as her condition still affects her.
You scour the house for any more threats, but find none. The mothman on the second floor still stands in the guest room.
"A darkness penetrated by the candle. The prowling nightmare banished by awakening. Dire fates discarded for more time til the next doomsday." You believe he is congratulating you all.
**********************************
Outside of the house and in the gardens you find the sad fated halfbreed as she sits on a tree stump. "I felt it. When she died. The despair and hopelessness ended. Now I am left uncertain. What to do when I won't be taken in by either world my... 'Parrents' came from."
Fen Vion |
"You do something for yourself and not for anyone else. As a Full Elf myself I know there are many who are "half-human" that are looked down upon or shunned by Elves. I don't feel that way but I can understand their misgivings at times, you could join the Path Finder Society, they generally don't care about your heritage." Fen offers.
Mivvy Hetherington |
"...or anything but your talents, which you seem to have in abundance."
Mivvy stares at the floor for a second, "Or you could come with us? At least for now. We promised to make the forests a bit safer now that the daemon has been destroyed."
Kasumi the Vexatious |

Upon visiting the mothman again, Kasumi treats him to some Dancing Lights for as long as he/the party will allow.
*****************************
"I have heard tell of a kind and considerate worg, who is in need of something called a 'waifu.' You may want to inquire further," she offers.

Beauty and the Beast music plays...
Upon your advice, she offers to instead stay at the Triselda Estate and keep watch over it for now. "I just require time to decide what to do next."
GM Worg |
With the dangers of the Triselda estate cleared, there are only the objectives in the wilds that lie before you...
• A Slain Father’s Peace - Destroy the haunt in Cassomir.
• With this Ring - Acquire the ring from Gill’s scorned fiancée.
• Fiendish Trophies - Destroy the fiend wearing a quicksand cloak.
• Finding Strange Beasts - Provide the druids of the Wildwood Order with trophies or descriptions of up to three new creatures encountered in the woods.
• Arboreal Arachnids - Destroy the giant black widow and her fiendish ettercap keeper.
• Harpy Help - Slay the harpies and return the lost cargo found in their Lair.
• Rest in Peace - Transport the remains of those lost to Cassomir for interment.
• We Were Soldiers - Find the lost soldiers.
Kasumi the Vexatious |
Kasumi cricks her fingers.
"I say we aim for rescuing anyone who has a chance of still being alive first, then slay creatures that pose significant threats, and then work our way down to lost possessions. It'd be great if I could catch eight hours of naps inbetween," she points out, "but that's up to you all."
Mivvy Hetherington |
Mivvy nods her assent, "Yes. A good night's sleep and then find the soldiers."
Mivvy finds the most comfortable bed in the house and claims it for the night.
Unless there's a chance of the ghost-thing coming back, in which case she chooses the most comfortable bed that won't kill her...
Father Urzaia Conflict |
A good night's sleep and we should be able to tackle these woods in a day or two. Does anyone need healing before we bed down?

Heal: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14
Any joke Kasumi had planned is thrown off when a pair of large, calloused hands start methodically forcing knots out of he muscles.
All sensuality is removed by the almost mechanical application of battlefield technique to restore a combatant's mobility.
A gruff Done signals the end of the massage.
Kasumi the Vexatious |
Kasumi's eyes bug when Urzaia's rough hands dig into her knots; she grits her teeth a little... but he does seem to generally know what he's doing, and she feels considerably more spry afterwards.
She rolls her shoulders a bit and then shrugs them. "That was... not bad, actually. The ones at Shelyn's temple are a little softer, but they also take three times as long, so."
She catches Fen's mouth opening, and cuts in:
"We're not gonna discuss Calistria's massages, actually."
"Not unless there's some wine that hasn't turned to vinegar around here, anyway."
Mivvy Hetherington |
At the talk of wine, Mivvy’s eyes light up and she starts rummaging in the kitchen, ”Nothing in the cellar but fingers crossed...”
Taking 20 on perception for a 29.
GM Worg |
An old bottle of wine is found in the kitchen. Looks like it originated in Cheliax.
GM Worg |
It is not recommended to get between a noble with a rapier and her wine. Are you certain you pocket it?
GM Worg |
Mivvy indulges in drinking, and soon everyone joins in on some song of merriment about a hippo and a mermaid becoming best friends while defending their aquatic kingdom from the attack of an iceberg that developed sentience because of a devil living inside it.
One Hangover later...
The party awakens with newfound readiness to face dangers unknown in the woods of Cassomir.
Select your quest.
Father Urzaia Conflict |
Who's ready for a walk in the woods? There are soldiers and spiders and strange beasts to be found.
