”Trapped chest? Honestly, I’m getting a little uncomfortable with this. It feels like we’re just breaking into someone’s home at this point. Thoughts?” Sophie does indeed look uncomfortable.
”Though, how someone got in here regularly to live, though that barred door, I couldn’t guess.”
Chrysa Surtova |
"He climbs well." she answers Sophie, pointing out how he escaped and all. "We were just making sure nothing was going to kill us if we turned our back on it. We're not going through the dangling pickle's stuff." Chrysa says with a little grump.
"So middle tower?"

Central Spire:
The keep’s central tower is an elegant spire of ivory- colored stone, draped with a riot of vines and other plants. The most complete structure in the entire fortress, its 5-foot-thick walls climb 70 feet to a multi- pointed stone roof.
This wide chamber has an impressive vaulted ceiling. Though obscured in places by earth and undergrowth, the hall’s floor is crafted of smooth stone tiles in multicolored pastel hues. The walls of the chamber are decorated with faded frescoes of sylvan life, showing scenes of beautiful elves engaged in hunting, feasting, dancing, singing, and a bewildering variety of other idyllic pursuits. To the west, a graceful, filigreed stone staircase, garlanded with flowering vines, climbs to the level above.

Per Discord:
The group begins ascending the stairwell, one at a time, with Chrysa at point. The stairs spiral round and round the exterior wall until finally you reach the top. As Chrysa, Isabella, and Bjorn round the turn, they see that the stairs end in a circular room featuring wide windows draped with hanging vines that offer panoramic views of the keep’s overgrown courtyard and the forest beyond. An open circular skylight in the ceiling provides glimpses of the forest canopy overhead. The walls between the windows are carved with exquisite, delicate nature motifs highlighted in gold and silver leaf. A riot of flowers, plants, and bushes sprout from the thick loam that carpets the hall’s floor, as if one were walking in a fantastic glade elevated high above the forest floor.
The lead three see an alluring, graceful elven woman with alabaster skin, raven hair, and emerald green eyes and wears a flowing white gown of archaic elven style, tied at the waist with a blood-red scarf. At her side is the wall crawling figure you saw before, a slender elf with pale green skin that has the texture of smooth bark, a deformed toothy face, and clawed hands. He is dressed in a black and red loincloth and has a number of scar-like patterns on his arms and shoulders.
”Ah...these must be the guests you mentioned were coming, Teorlian. Excellent,” the woman says with a delicate clasping of her hands, to which the man at her side simply nods. She then adds ”Lets not be inhospitable! Please, allow me to entertain you with a dance...” she says as she begins swaying her body seductively...

"Casting a spell on my companion to get her to leave- not fair. Care to try again on me?" She grits her teeth and gives the 'pretty' fey creature a thousand yard stare.
"Oh, and as you might expect, she doesn't care much for cold iron, and resists spells." She says idly to her companions.

Orri frowns when the woman stops dancing then suddenly calls for their deaths. ”Well... that is definitely no way to make friends or have a good time...” he says almost pouting.

A burrowing earth elemental can pass through stone, dirt, or almost any other sort of earth except metal as easily as a fish swims through water. A move earth spell cast on an area containing a burrowing earth elemental flings the elemental back 30 feet, stunning the creature for 1 round unless it succeeds on a DC 15 Fortitude save.
Earth Mastery (Ex)
An earth elemental gains a +1 bonus on attack and damage rolls if both it and its foe are touching the ground. If an opponent is airborne or waterborne, the elemental takes a –4 penalty on attack and damage rolls. These modifiers apply to bull rush and overrun maneuvers, whether the elemental is initiating or resisting these kinds of attacks. (These modifiers are not included in the statistics block.)

Shaking off the rest of the toxin, Bella digs in. She sets her feet and lets her stance solidify as she levels her dueling sword and cuts clean through the one that had injured her.

Now free to search the entire fortress at their leisure, the group uncovers the following:
In the locked chest in the northwest tower, you find a fine velvet cloak (worth 10 gp), a gold necklace (worth 100 gp), a silver ring set with an emerald (worth 300 gp), a bejeweled masterwork short sword (worth 510 gp), a moonstone (worth 50 gp), 76 sp, and 31 gp.
In the central tower where you fought the two fey, you find a life-sized alabaster statue of a nude, dancing elven woman (worth 900 gp, but weighing almost 500 pounds), a masterwork harp, a small, carved jade statuette of a coiling snake (worth 75 gp), and an ancient filigreed elven water clock (worth 1,000 gp, but weighing 200 pounds). The Lady’s bed is covered with a snow-white bearskin coverlet (worth 50 gp). A finely carved, wooden wardrobe beside the bed holds two royal outfits (worth 200 gp each), three courtier’s outfits (worth 30 gp each), and several other tasteful, once-expensive articles of clothing (heavily stained with blood and now worthless). A small wooden coffer atop a rosewood table contains 3 vials of exotic perfume (worth 100 gp each), a gem-studded tiara (worth 350 gp), and an elixir of love. A nearby chest holds 431 sp and 370 gp in leather sacks.
And buried beneath the rubble of the southwest tower, you find a remarkably well-preserved mithral statuette of a beautiful elf woman wearing archaic robes, framed by an archway of mithral branches. A DC 20 Knowledge (religion) check recognizes the statuette as a representation of Findeladlara, the elven goddess of art and architecture. It is worth 1,200 gp.

Sophiel Medvyed |
When the creature escapes, Sophie quickly tries to have the elemental follow, but it cannot find the exact location of the thing hanging out on the outside. Cursing, she follows.
” Ma chì sinn a-riamh thu fhèin no an t-amadan sin a ’cabhag, a-rithist, bidh sinn a’ biathadh na bàlaichean agad fhèin, bidh thu gu cruaidh a ’rùsgadh.” She screams out the window.
She sniffs and gestures to Bjorn, who nods and walks over to the bloodsucker and then promptly crushes her skull with his hammer.
She checks her gear for a moment as the elemental disappears out the window, though it is seemingly unable to find the escaping monster. She composes herself, ”I’m going to burn this ... thing in the courtyard. Anyone care to join me?” She says, with feigned cheer, as Bjorn picks up the light form by the feet and begins dragging it, thumping down the stairs.
Annalla |
Annalla takes grim satisfaction with the woman's defeat but doesn't join in Sophiel's celebration.
"Are we done here?" she asks once the place has been searched and the valuables that are portable are readied for travel. She looks around at the craftsmanship concealed under the reclamation efforts of the greenery. "Could this place be restored and utilized?"
Isabella Lebeda |
Apologies, my statblock was not updated to five on here, I've corrected that oversight now. Isabella does have Combat Reflexes and her attacks were incorrectly listed. They should have been one higher to hit and each attack was missing +5 damage. Assuming she hit on her two regular attacks and two AoO's, that's +20 total damage. Did I get him? Maybe I can stab him as he goes out the window and it tragically falls to its death :)
Isabella shakes her head "Why couldn't we have just come to an understanding? Why does it always have to be death?" she asks sadly.
Looking to Sophie she asks "And why are fey so much trouble?"
Turning to Annalla, "Who would use it?"
Annalla |
Annalla tips her head at Isabella. "I would love to stay here if it were restored to its former beauty. The craftsmanship is exquisite," she says. "It seems that it would be a beautiful place to share ... with someone." Her cheeks reddening, she turns to gaze up at the trees.
Sophiel Medvyed |
Sophie sighs, "many believe they have immutable natures, because they lack the wisdom to try and change." She gestures at her surroundings, "The rules here are different; this isn't the first world, and they don't seem to understand that." She makes a small fist and slams it gently into her open palm, "So, many are fools. Like these. It doesn't mean I won't stop trying. These things are refugees, if they can just control themselves long enough to talk to us, maybe they would find that we don't seek their deaths. If they lack such control - well, you've seen my mercy." She says coldly, glancing down at the corpse.
"Just once I'd like them to try. One of these, I suppose," she makes air quotes, "unseelie?" Or Dark Fey? The "evil" ones. We can't even talk to them; it's ridiculous." She sighs.
"I never mentioned this to anyone, but one of my goals is to make a safe space for creatures like this." Though she recoils a moment, "not exactly like this, but similar ones, who can live without being killed or persecuted for how they're... well, odd. They would just have to follow the rules, which I'd hope would be fair to everyone. Doesn't have to be fey folk. Could be any misfit that's displaced, or odd, or doesn't fit in." She gets a faraway look. "That's why I'm working on all this, to get a chance to build something decent for people who have nothing else. Who have nowhere else." She shakes her head again, and chuckles. "Maybe I'm as fanciful as the fey then, if I believe I could do this, but I'm determined to try."
Annalla |
"That's very difficult to do with fey," Annalla offers. "Because the very concept of 'rules' is inimical to them. They exist to follow their nature. To try to convince them to follow outside restrictions not tied to what they are is ... is an exercise in frustration for everyone involved."
The sorceress frowns as if trying to root out how she knows some of the things that she knows.
"You are attempting to put the wind in a box. The fey simply are. You can either choose to live with them as they are or you can ... deal with them in other ways." She gestures towards the remains of the baobhan sith.
