Scale difference attack roll mod 9 + 1d6 ⇒ 9 + (3) = 12.

Round: 1

The aardwolf snarls and lunges at the valiant badger trying to catch Turk in his steely jaws. His teeth catch the badger's leg only briefly as Turk hisses and jumps free.

BITE v Dodge 12 (-5 for PB): 5d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 4, 5, 2) = 16
DAM: 6d6 - 17 ⇒ (4, 1, 2, 2, 2, 4) - 17 = -2

At the same time, the crazed wallaby tosses the fearless squirrel over both Turk and the aardwolf. As he sails over, Flik lashes out with his pointy stick. He creases the skull of the 'wolf but his weapon barely penetrates the dense fur. He lands in a ball, unfurls and runs for another 40' before stopping.

ORDER: Aardwolf of DOOM, Heist, Turk, Prophet & Camera Crew, Flik, Poe

Heist and Turk - you gents are up.

Predator:
"I said it's mine, hyena-face! M I I I I I I I N E ! ! !"
Shouting out a challenge in Predator's tongue, Turk leaps at the aardwolf and unleashes hell in the form of his terrible foreclaws, raking at the beast's muzzle with a lightning-quick strike.

Claw attack: 7d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 3, 4, 4, 2, 4) = 20

Claw damage: 5d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 5, 4, 5) = 20

Blood springs from the slashed muzzle of the Aardwolf. It blinks at the ferocity of the smaller creature's attack, not sure what to make of an animal that appears to be about 95% teeth and claws.

First blood drawn! The Aardwolf is stunned.

Heist - you are up.

Heist flings one of the implements at the Aardwolf. "Get away!" he shouts. He glances at his Seabeax, but appears to resist the impulse.
Nothing to do with caution--he simply doesn't want to use it on such an uninteresting foe.
Throw: 5d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 1, 4, 1) = 14
Er, damage? Not sure here...2d6 ⇒ (6, 6) = 12, maybe?
If so, Wild Die: 1d6 ⇒ 3

That's a good question. I think the damage would be your Might + the bonus damage for the object. Let's say you tossed something nice and heavy (+1D damage). I'll do the roll...

1d6 + 15 - 18 ⇒ (6) + 15 - 18 = 3 DAM

With his dextrous paws, Heist snatches up a strange globe. The odd sphere is filled with water, floating white flakes, and a string of miniature dogs standing on their hind legs for inexplicable reason. The raccoon barely notes the contents as he hurls it.

The snow-globe shatters against the skull of the 'wolf. The creature shakes its head and snarls, trying to blink the water and white flakes from its eyes.

The Stunned 'wolf is now Wounded.

ORDER: Aardwolf of DOOM, Heist, Turk, Prophet & Camera Crew, Flik, Poe

"CAAAAAUUUUURRRRRKKKKKKK" The raven emphasizes his cry with a little hopping circular dance and four head bobs. Strangely, all the animals - save the wolf - feel encouraged.

ORDER: Aardwolf of DOOM, Heist, Turk, Prophet & Camera Crew, Flik, Poe

Round: 2

In its small mind, the aardwolf starts rethinking coming after these animals for a meal. It snaps at the badger hoping for a quick meal.

BITE v Dodge 12 (-5+2+3): 4d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 2, 1) = 12
DAM: 5d6 - 17 - 2 ⇒ (3, 1, 5, 3, 2) - 17 - 2 = -5

The 'wolf's jaws snap on Turk's head but his wounds sap the strength from his bite. He does little more than shake the badger vigorously.

ORDER: Aardwolf of DOOM, Heist, Turk, Prophet & Camera Crew, Flik, Poe

Map: Petshop Boys

Is Flik gone, or just creating distance? We skipped his turn, and I don't see him on the map.

Record: 1 win, 0 personal kills

He's forty feet past the Aard-wolf thingy, but he delayed until Prophet could go so he cold be launched... so his turn will come up later this round.

Heist grabs another projectile, a ceramic cat. He barks something as he lets it fly.

Predator:
"And GET GONE!"

Throw: 5d6 + 2 ⇒ (4, 5, 2, 3, 3) + 2 = 19
Damage: 3d6 + 2 ⇒ (5, 2, 6) + 2 = 15
Wild Die: 1d6 ⇒ 6
Aha! I get to roll again, right?
Second Wild Die: 1d6 ⇒ 5

Turk twists in under the looming beast, and sinks his teeth into the creature's neck. The taste of blood sends him into a ravenous fervor, his hunger driving his anger further.

Bite Attack: 7d6 + 2 ⇒ (6, 6, 1, 4, 2, 5, 2) + 2 = 28
Bite Damage: 5d6 + 2 ⇒ (1, 6, 3, 2, 6) + 2 = 20
Crit!: 1d6 ⇒ 6
Crit!: 1d6 ⇒ 1

Whaaaaaat?!?!?! Awesome.

Yeah, Flik is out the door by a long margin. That squirrel can haul ass when he wants to. When I scaled the map back to show him as well as you guys... Ever seen a city view from orbit? :) Not exactly great for tactical combat.

Heist, you are correct, if your first Wild Die is a 6 you get to keep rolling. Love the 'ceramic cat' btw.

"Crikey! See right there? That's the badger fighting his natural enemy, the aardwolf! The thing about badgers is they always go for the man-berries! Let's see what happens when we kick it in the 'ead, eh?"

Brawling 4d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 4, 2) = 13
Damage: 3d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 1) = 11

We feel no sympathy for the aardwolf but, nevertheless, we must pity the creature a little bit. It was efficiently bushwhacked by smaller creatures working together. I wonder what it felt in those last moments, pummeled from all sides by animals it only saw as game?

~Bertram the Elder, 22nd Keeper of Memories

Heist channels the spirit of Big League pitchers and fires a rocket over the plate...

The aardwolf focusing on too many small targets at once, doesn't see the hurtling ceramic kitty until it crashes loudly against its skull, stripping a chunk of fur away. It staggers sideways under the blow, giving Turk the opportunity he was looking for.

The Honey Badger rolls in beneath the larger beast, locks onto its throat with his teeth, and brings his rear legs up to tear into the soft vitals. Only the persistent growling of the badger is heard... as if the aardwolf's stomach was raising a complaint. The aardwolf leaps spastically and yelps but can't shake the badger loose.

The spry wallaby leaps to one side of the flailing beast and gives it the old Queensland Howyadoin'. Summoning the skills of The Master, Prophet delivers the goods. The beasts legs nearly go out from under it, but it manages to right itself.

Heist ATT: 15 + 6 + 5 - 18 = 8
Aard Status: Severely Wounded

Turk ATT: 20 + 6 + 1 - 18 = 9

Flik slides to a stop, looking back towards the brawl. The wave of dust from his speed drifts past him as he grabs up a strange two-legs, flat rock from the ground, which he zings in the direction of the attacking animal.

Throw (a penny) 5d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 5, 3, 4) = 22.

At 40 feet, i'm not sure what the range bonus to his Dodge score would be.

I just realized that I may have mistakenly assumed I was within that 30' range. What is the map scale?

I would have corrected the calculation if you were wrong, don't worry about it. As to the scale... :D It is 1'/square. Just thinking about that tiny scale cracks me up.

Having few combat skills to contend with such a ferocious creature, the watchful bird hops on the top of the cage and studies the wounded 'wolf. What he sees makes him hop back and forth in agitation.

Search 5d6 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (6, 5, 4, 4, 5) + 2 + 2 = 28 Bless

Round: 3

A shiny penny comes whipping through the door and bounces off the aardwolf's flanks, causing it to leap at yet another perceived assault. Unfortunately, the blow merely shakes its faltering confidence.

Bloody, beaten, and mauled - the aardwolf has had enough. It spins around, shaking the badger loose, tucks its lengthy tail against its bleeding belly and runs out the door, trying to add as much speed as possible despite its near crippled condition. Its yipping and yodels of pain are heard as it streaks out the door and down the road, easily surpassing the impressive run of the indefatigable Flik.

Run (w/ -3D) 1d6 ⇒ 3 --> (30' base + 3' Run bonus) x2 [full round run] = 66'

ORDER: Aardwolf of DOOM, Heist, Turk, Prophet & Camera Crew, Flik, Poe

Any actions or let the beast escape to lick its wounds?

Bad Animal wrote:

Do I get a chance for an AOO for his attempt to break my steely grasp and run? I would very much like to eat his face.

Good question, Turk... and I like your face-eating notion. :) There are no mention of AoOs in the M6 rules that I can find. The question becomes 'do we want to implement one?' Feel free to discuss it in the OOC thread.

The Aardwolf runs far and fast. But does it go far and fast enough?

Heist can see the creature in the distance, and he still has a few objects to throw.
Call it Long Range from 65'+ with an unbalanced object.

Flik watches the wounded beast run right past him and debates his options.
Flik is 20' away... so you could move and attack with -1D on each roll.

ORDER: Aardwolf of DOOM, Heist, Turk, Prophet & Camera Crew, Flik, Poe

OK, guys, you can give chase. The best possibilities to stop the 'wolf this round are Heist and Flik. If anyone wants to give it a shot, make your rolls. The best pursuers are Flik (running) and Poe (flying). If you want Poe to attempt to follow and bring him down, feel free to RP the conversation.

"Right! Now that the aardwolf has been dealt with..." Prophet shakes himself and suddenly loses the outrageous accent, "What brings you lot to the Monastery on this fine day? The very same day that the Fonz has set me free from my moral captivity? Have you been saved? Have you seen the savings that Buy-Mor can promise? Have you seen the holy land where the shelves are never empty and the bakery flows with sweet pastries?"

Apologies for the delay, gents. Flik is offline right now but said he'd like to post. I'd like to give him a little time to post before we wrap this bit up and get into madcap stuff.

Heist sees the wolf-thing escaping. "Oh," he mutters in Prey, "I don't think so! HERE'S a meal for ya!"
He grabs a small metal-and-plastic device from the desk. As he draws back to throw it, his technologically-knowledgeable mind notes that it might once have lit up to display an image, but now is no more than a gray rock with a half-eaten apple on the back. Then he lets it fly.

Bertram:
In case it matters for damage, he is throwing an ipad.

And Heist is Feeling Lucky...
*Drumroll*
Throw: 5d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 5, 5, 6) = 24. Minus whatever.
Wild Die: 1d6 ⇒ 6
1d6 ⇒ 1
Double the result.
Damage: 2d6 ⇒ (1, 6) = 7. Plus whatever.
Wild Die: 1d6 ⇒ 4
EDIT: Nice roll. A shame the damage probably won't make it through.

Flik returns, an incoming rusty-brown streak zipping beneath an out-going gray streak.

He slides to a stop, another cloud of dust rushing up behind and past him to coat the area around him. Panting from exertion, he leans up against the big, thick new guy, "So… that was fun. I'm Flik."

sorry for the absence.

Heist, I'm going to take a few liberties with your rolls...

Hefting the strange and smooth device, Heist realises it is well-balanced for throwing... He hurls the object which spins like a blade.

The strange apple logo'd object arcs up and then descends, smashing into the base of the aardwolf's skull driving it down, never to rise again.

It was a strange fellowship formed that day.

Feel free to RP, guys. Sorry for the delayed posting - work and life have been nuts. OH, 3CP for everyone!

In a huff, Turk shuffles over to the fallen creature and, true to his word, begins to gnaw off meaty bits, starting at the beast's muzzle.

"Nom nom nom... runphaway fromeef... nom nom... tolju eadjufase... nom nom nom..."

While eating the face of the beast, Turk notices something odd. Its skull appears to be partially sheathed in some shiny metal. It doesn't taste good.

Poe bobs up and down, turning a glassy eye on the entrance of the squirrel. "I'm Poe... but I'm also called 'Fonz' it seems."

Poe. wrote:

"Fonz, keeper of the Holy Ehhhh, opener of ways and finder of lost children. And you shall know his name in the Fonz when he lays his EHHHH upon you!" The Prophet then begins madly making strange paw gestures and saying "BOOM! BOOM! Boom-boom!"

The Wallaby Prophet wrote:

The wallaby's ruckus momentarily distracts Turk from his meal, and the unpleasant metal discovery.

"Turk."

Looking around at the motley menagerie, he sizes them up and examines his dinner again.

"There's enough for all, I think. It's only right to share in this case, I suppose. Just avoid the hard shiny metal bits. Blegh!"

His claws pop out the aardwolf's eyeball, and he holds it out in an offering gesture.

Metal? Weird. Perception?: 1d6 ⇒ 4

"I'm Heist..." the raccoon says as he catches up with the aardwolf-killers. "...or Other Heist. That wasn't too bad a shot, I'd say." He takes the eyeball and swallows it is one bite. "Excellent. You're pretty strong, whatever you are. Some sort of weasel, right? Raccoon here."
He goes over to the other side of the aardwolf. He starts on the tail. "This is the best part, I always say. I don't taste things very well, but you can chew it for an hour and still not be through it. Food that lasts is good food."

Flik swaggers up,carelessly swinging his new sharp stabbing stick every which way. He stops in front of the carcass as Other-Heist pops the eye in his mouth, with a clear look of 'seriously?!'

"Metal?" he finally says, poking his sharp stabbing stick in the dead thing's now-vacant eye socket. "That's that Two-Leg stuff, right? Why'd a... well.. whatever this thing is... have Two-Legs Metal in its head?" He stops, looking back at the raven, "Fonz, birds always think they know so much... why's this animal-thing have Two-Legs stuff in its head?"

"I'm a Ratel. I once met some birds that claimed to know the tongue of the two-legs. They named us Honey Badgers. I thought that was silly - I'm no badger! Still, the name stuck."

Turk returns to his meal, biting tender chunks from the soft neck area.

"Om nom num... Metal's yourfs... nohg nohg nohm... ish not foodz... grolmp..."

The crow flaps down and pulls a small chunk of meat free from the body and swallows before examining the corpse more closely. With small hops, he climbs the corpse - examining the wounds on the body. He taps the metal with his beak, making a dull thunk.

"It looks like a two-legs metal but it seems stuck to the bone. I see some on this leg as well... And birds know a lot, but not everything."

"This," he says excitedly, pulling away from his food and lapsing into Predator, "is what's called Seabeax to Zero to Five! It's a potent explosive. The story of how I came upon it's actually quite interesting. That tree-rat there had, bless him, somehow managed to acquire this item. I knew he'd end up blowing himself up, so I intervened. A very exciting chase ensued, and he was very quick. Fortunately, he saw something that startled him, and he leaped off the roof to escape. I caught him...and, well, the rest is history.

"Any questions?" he asks eagerly.

The Prophet hops up, ignoring the offer of meat.

"Truly we are blessed who have the mighty Bomb. For it is said that he who holds the spice controls the universe!"

And though they knew it not, the beginnings of this strange relationship between Predator and Prey would be to the benefit of all. For in those dark days, the top of the food-chain was Death and no hunter was strong enough to evade him for long.
