Game Master S |
Suddenly the secret door (which used to be a crawlspace in the ceiling) is torn open. On the other side is a blurry outline of a dragon, moving far too quick for her size. "I'll kill you all!"
She lets loose a massive blast of cold, far more destructive than the environment itself! It washes everyone on the bridge. COLD: 9d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 3, 1, 4, 6, 6, 2, 1) = 31 REF DC 18 for half
Norys: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14
Kuong: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
Sev: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
Lucius: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
Bugface: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
Jasper: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Viper: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
Round 1:
Lucius: Go
Bugface: Go
Norys: TBD
Viper: TBD
Sev: TBD
Kuong: TBD
Jasper: TBD
Space Lucius |
Due to evasion, Lucius takes no damage
"Now dat ain't very nice. What did Lucius do to you?" asks the hacker. "I don't want to kill you, we are only here to help!"
At this time, the klaxons kick on in the bridge, with displays showing all sorts of trouble.
trick attack computers: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (5) + 21 = 26 CR 6 for flatfooted
moving back from the dragon, he fires his holdout membrane pistol.
Soft cover
pistol: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22 vs flatfooted, maybe
fire damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4 additional trick attack: 3d8 ⇒ (2, 4, 8) = 14
Game Master S |
Sev knows that a dragon such as this is particularly weak against flame and is immune to the effects of cold paralysis, and sleep. Dragons are often capable spellcasters, so there might be additional considerations...
Lucius tries to distract the dragon, but Norys is dead set focused on the battle at hand. The trick might not work, but the shot is on point. A faint shimmer as the shot connects gives evidence to Sev's point about protective magics. Still, the shot singes a bit of her hide.
Round 1:
Lucius: Hit
Bugface: Go
Norys: TBD
Viper: TBD
Sev: TBD
Kuong: TBD
Jasper: TBD
Norys: 1
Dr. William Kuong |
Reflex Save (DC18 needed): 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22
Dr. Kuong is able to use the consoles to help deflect the cold.
31 divided by 2 is 15, -5 for resist cold 5, so 10 pts damage
Space Lucius |
I think I misunderstood the rolls for reflex and they were meant to be init?
reflex DC18: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19 And evasion kicks in
Bugface |
Reflex: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (13) + 11 = 24
{A decoy dragon?} Bugface decides to worry about it later. Bugface starts tracking the dragon and fires with their rifle.
Rifle Attack with Combat Tracking: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (11) + 11 = 22
Shock Damage: 1d12 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Game Master S |
Bugface snaps their rifle to the target and squeezes a shock charge, burning the dragon's hide a bit!
Norys uses the chaos, wind, and her cloaking circuit to mask her attack on Sev before retreating into the hold.
Stealth: 1d20 + 26 ⇒ (6) + 26 = 32 Sev is now flatfooted
Bite: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (5) + 17 = 22 for DMG: 1d12 + 12 ⇒ (7) + 12 = 19 and knocking Sev off target too!
Round 1:
Lucius: Hit
Bugface: Hit
Norys: ATK
Viper: Go
Sev: Go
Kuong: Go
Jasper: Go
Reset: 1d4 ⇒ 3
Norys: 13
Dr. William Kuong |
Dr. Kuong realizes that this might be a big problem, and tried to remember what if anything else he might know about dragons, specifically this type.
With that he locks on with what he can see of the dragon, and then fires.
Mysticism: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (13) + 11 = 24
Dual Acid Dart Rifle (KAC): 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22 to hit.
Damage (Acid and Piercing)2: 2d8 + 7 ⇒ (8, 4) + 7 = 19 damage (10 Acid, 9 Physical)
With targeting computer (This targeting computer helps you compensate for poor visibility conditions. Ignore concealment on attacks you make. This doesn’t have any effect against targets with total concealment).
Action economy:
Free action: Determine what I know of dragons.
Move action: Combat Tracking
Standard action: Shoot
Game Master S |
The dragon is cloaked, which makes it look more like a Predator from the movie, and not invisible. The dragon is targetable, but gets bonuses on other things. It has cover from some of the party.
The good doctor scores a solid shot! and can ask any two questions
Round 1:
Lucius: Hit
Bugface: Hit
Norys: ATK
Viper: Go
Sev: Go
Kuong: Go
Jasper: Go
Breath on round 4
Norys: 32
Dr. William Kuong |
Dr. Kuong remembers a few thing about special abilities and specific special defenses (if different from Sev+'s immunities and resistances).
Game Master S |
Dr. Kuong doesn't recall anything else, but the dragon clearly has operative training.
Jasper Jermaine |
Jasper will run into cover (I think this part of the map is cover) and take a shot with his Arc Static Rifle.
Arc Static Rifle: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9
Electric DMG: 1d12 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Viper 6 |
Viper seems to come out of nowhere, cracking off a shot with her pistol!
Stealth 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (15) + 17 = 32
Attack 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27 vs FF KAC
Damage 1d6 + 2 + 3d8 ⇒ (4) + 2 + (8, 6, 5) = 25
Vs concealment if required 1d100 ⇒ 93 - should be good!
GM Viper moves to a point where the dragon is not receiving cover and shoots at it - could you kindly adjust the position of my token to reflect a point where Viper would have a clear shot?
Sev+ |
His circuits damaged and dermal layers brittled by the cold, Sev makes a dash for safety. The android then gestures as he glances at the felled dragon.
Instantly, the fallen wyrm rises to its feet, letting out a draconic roar.
Casting holographic image (3rd level)
Game Master S |
Viper's shot is surgical and well executed. The large wound causes Norys's shouts of anger turn to pain.
Jasper runs to cover, but at the cost of accuracy and misses the shot.
Norys is confused for just a second WILL: 1d20 ⇒ 20 "FOOL! You can't use my tricks against me!"
Round 2:
Lucius: Go
Bugface: Go
Norys: TBD
Viper: TBD
Sev: TBD
Kuong: TBD
Jasper: TBD
Breath on round 4
Norys: 57
Space Lucius |
"Yo! Why we fighting here?" Suddently, drow death metal starts screaming from every speaker in the bridge.
Lucius moves, firing his laser pistol.
trick attack: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (12) + 21 = 33
Membrane holdout pistol, trick attack vs FF EAC: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26 fire trick attack: 1d63 + 3 + 3d8 ⇒ (19) + 3 + (8, 2, 5) = 37
"So, take that!?"
Bugface |
Bugface flits over next to Viper drawing a pistol as they fly. Bugface then activates their energy shield.
Activating Energy Shield Mechanic Trick. 10 temp hp. Drawing a spellthrower pistol along with moving as well.
Game Master S |
I'm digging the fluff that goes with Lucius's use of Computers for Trick attack. Take a +1 on your next attack. Your base damage dice are messed up though. 1d6 ⇒ 4 so net of 22 rolled.
Lucius catches Norys again, this time burning a massive hole in her side. She's clearly on the ropes, but her rage and fury keep her in the fight.
Meanwhile Bugface moves in to join in the fun.
Norys gives up her cover and steps into the fray Her form is still mostly just an outline, but nevertheless her presence is intense. She lashes out with razor teeth at Bugface. Bite: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (10) + 17 = 27 for DMG: 1d12 + 12 ⇒ (3) + 12 = 15
Round 2:
Lucius: Hit
Bugface: Prep
Norys: ATK
Viper: Go
Sev: Go
Kuong: Go
Jasper: Go
Breath on round 4
Norys: 85
Dr. William Kuong |
Dr. Kuong steps back a bit to get room away from the huge dragon and fires.
Dual Acid Dart Rifle (KAC): 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21 to hit.
Damage (Acid and Piercing): 2d8 + 7 ⇒ (1, 5) + 7 = 13 damage (7 Acid, 6 Physical)
Action economy:
Move action: Move back
Standard action: Shoot
Ammo used: 4
Sev+ |
"It seems that my processors have made an error in calculation." notes Sev upon seeing the dragon's reaction to his illusory spell. "Clearly, another tact is required."
The android reaches out and touches Lucius' weapon, allowing an arcane surge within the pistol's firepower.
Casting supercharge weapon on Lucius' pistol. If the weapon’s next attack hits (provided it is made before the end of the next round), the attack deals 4d6 additional damage against a single target. This bonus damage is of the same type as the weapon’s normal damage (so fire, I trust).
The android then seeks cover to end to damaged technoframe.
Space Lucius |
Lucius nods at Sev+. "I don't usually have no need for the ol' mumbo-jumbo, but that's the kind I can get behind!"
Sorry about the typo... completely missed that.
Viper 6 |
Viper manages to come out from behind Bugface with the speed of her eponymous namesake - her pistol cracking off another round at the dragon.
Stealth 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (12) + 17 = 29
Attack 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29 vs FF KAC
Damage 1d6 + 2 + 3d8 + 1d6 + 2 + 3d8 ⇒ (4) + 2 + (2, 7, 6) + (3) + 2 + (5, 6, 3) = 40

Game Master S |
As the dragon chomps down on Bugface, Viper sees an opening. Withminimal movement to distract Norys, he squeezes of a shot which hits the base of her neck! Immediately the dragon's legs are held fast.
Panic. For the first time you read panic in her roars.
Sev beefs up Lucius's weapon for the next shot, hoping its more than the dragon can handle. No sooner than the spell completes than a shot from Dr. Kuong strikes home in the wound opened by Viper!
The dragon gives a death knell before falling into a crumpled heap. This is no illusion. Smoking dragon blood oozes from her many wounds.
Out of combat!
Game Master S |
The bridge, tenuously still attached to the rest of the ship creaks loudly...
Dr. William Kuong |
Dr. Kuong goes to the computers to get any and all information he can off of it before the ship falls off the cliff.
Computers: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (17) + 14 = 31
"Maybe we should get the body out of here somehow....it might help with smoothing over some diplomatic hurdles?"
Game Master S |
The Dr. grabs Norys's datapad to start working his way through. It doesn't take long to locate the Starfinder data. Dr. Kuong also manages to retrieve the scrambled transponder data too!
Sev+ |
"What you seek is beyond my capabilities." Sev flatly notes in response to Jasper. "However, allow me to analyze the structural integrity of this environ to determine whether there is some manner by which it can be made more stable."
Engineering: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (15) + 16 = 31
Game Master S |
Sev is somewhat confident that it's possible to temporarily boost the loader that you used to get the body back. It'll be a ridiculously hard trek to get back to the ship though.
Space Lucius |
"Well, you know, we could cut her up, carry her out in pieces, and then reassemble outside." says Lucius, to a set of growingly shocked faces. "What? I said we could, not that we should.
"What if we just got our ship, and hovered outside this bridge? Then we wouldn't have to drag her all the way through this one?"
Bugface |
{Bugface agrees with Viper. Let's take a picture of the body and take that datapad out of here.}
Dr. William Kuong |
"If we can't take the body because of mass limitations on the loader, lets get a few photos so we can at least have record that we fought her, and that she died valiantly."
Game Master S |
The party grabs what they can, which includes her datapad and a cred stick. After snapping a few shots Viper gets everyone back up. From there it's a difficult, but straight forward journey back.
Once you return Zafeldrin’s stolen data, the dragon thanks you profusely, brushing aside any damage to the lodge. Evidence of the Frozen Trove’s involvement in the attack causes him to excitedly ponder which factions that oppose the dragoncorp may now see the Starfinder Society as an ally.
Naiaj is less sanguine. When you report to her, she begins calculating which Starfinder outposts the Frozen Trove could strike next.
Your mission was largely successful, and your reputation as agents grow.
While you've earned both points, earning the boon required a perfect score in the race to stop the bombardment. Still, amazing job. I'll get chronicles up ASAP!
Dr. William Kuong |
Dr. Kuong nods at the complement from Viper. "Yes, yes, we did a good job. We worked very well together, and I would have no problems working with you all again."
Mentally, Dr. Kuoung is sad he couldn't bring the body....he has a collector that would have loved to have a dragon corpse (Collector and Examiner Exo-guardian boon....)...so if people can read minds you can get that from his head. :-)
Game Master S |
Sorry for the delay everyone! I really enjoyed the game. Keep your eyes out, as I'd love to have you all back. I've got to wrap up a few games, but I'll be making a big SFS and PFS2 push!
Chronicles are HERE I trust you guys on Day Jobs. If you need a change, let me know. I'll close the thread in 3 days or after everyone gives the thumbs up!
Space Lucius |
Thanks Game Master S, and everyone else!
Was a fun table! So many nukes blown!
