| GM Rinaldo |
Ironshanks swings his axe, but again is fouled up by the creature's thick fur and hide. RNG really doesn't like you this fight.
Bemmer fares slightly better, and though his hammer lacks the sheer power of Ironshank's axe, it does the job.5 damage to White, knocking it out!
Wraith is up!

Wraith slips into the space behind the statue and lands a blow directly onto the skunk's neck, leaving a large gash.

Ironshanks Magee

Ironshanks is getting pretty fed up at this point, his axe not doing the work it usually enjoys. "Alright ye black stank cat, time ta get yer due. Don't gimme any excuses about us bargin' in on yer restin' spot neither!" He shifts his position and hacks away.
1H Adamantine Waraxe, Power Attack: 1d20 + 9 - 2 ⇒ (10) + 9 - 2 = 171d10 + 5 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 5 + 4 = 11 Maybe just maybe a hit?
| GM Rinaldo |
Ironshanks finally connects, drawing a second gash to match the one Wraith created. The skunk is definitely in a lot of pain, but is still standing!
Hannar the Wild

Hannar takes a 5' step back, raises his palm to the skunk, and a ray of fire bursts forth....

With careful aim, Hannar shoots off another bolt of flame, bringing the skunk down. Combat is over, you can tend to your wounds.
Immediately after this, Kalkamedes enters the room, turns toward the doors opposite the statue, and tugs at them, unable to get them to open.
Looking more carefully around the room, you notice that the statue has writing around its base, and carries a wand. Oddly, the wand is not part of the statue, but an actual wand slipped into the statue's hand.
Hannar the Wild

Hannar looks at the wand, casts Detect Magic, and tries to determine its purpose....

Satisfied with the end result, Ironshanks claps his hands together and wipes off his axe head on the fur, sniffs it, shrugs and stows it back on his belt as Kalk wanders in "Eh, right on time bud!" He notices the lack of rope and frowns at Hannar, who he specifically told to tie it tightly so this didn't happen a second time.
As the others check out the statue he retrieves his rope and grapple and reattaches it to his charge. "Well?" He grunts. "What's next?" He listens to Hannar and frowns "Yuck, rumors of that kinda magic floats around the barracks once and a while. Scary stuff havin' yer muscles sapped.. keep that thing pointed away from me!"
With a huff and a puff he stands back up and checks out the statue for himself, taking his time looking it over and pondering the inscription.
Take 20 perception on the statue (32 if stone, 30 otherwise) and I'm untrained in linguistics so no go on that. Ironshanks only speaks Dwarven and Common.

"Thanks Bud." Nods the Elder as Bemmer touches up his bite wound. "I'm not gonna get rabid am I?" He asks half seriously as he rubs the scar.
CLW Wand: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
| GM Rinaldo |
Ironshanks notices nothing special about the statue beyond the inscription, and the fact that the wand had been pointing directly at the door.
Kalkamedes continues trying and failing to open the door, which appears to be stuck.
Wraith {Gōsutoha ~Ghost Lotus}

"Wait til mornin'? Dunno about that one kid. What if this weird ass place disappears in the day or some such? Besides, I'd rather just get it done now than put it off." He abandons his search of the statue and heads over to look at the door, digging out a crowbar as he does.
"Maybe this baby is just stuck from bad Elven stone masonry. If they'd have brought Papy it'd swing like a orc on a rope." He checks it over thoroughly before trying the crowbar on it to pop it open.

I wasn't sure what I should add to the roll for using a wand, but I 'm sure a 5 missed.
Your DEX mod, and any feats or other bonuses that apply to all ranged attacks. But yeah, that misses.
Ironshanks steps up onto the dais with his crowbar, and immediately a strange sensation comes over him. His limbs feel heavy, and the weight of his gear nearly overwhelms him. He can barely lift the crowbar into position, much less use it to pry open the door.
| GM Rinaldo |
A disembodied voice comes from somewhere near Bemmer. "I never expected to see a dwarf come down with a case of noodle-arms. Put your back into it!"
Wraith {Gōsutoha ~Ghost Lotus}

Wraith's blade flashes into a defensive position. Her eyes seek out the source of the voice.

You see nothing out of the ordinary, other than a dwarf who can't seem to open a stuck door.
And in case it wasn't clear, my description was literal, not just a roleplay of Ironshank's poor rolls.

| GM Rinaldo |
Hannar is fairly certain the spell in the wand is not effective on objects, only on creatures.
Kalkamedes continues to tug on the door, unable to open it.
The voice says, "You're talking about casting a spell on a door now. This is what the Pathfinder Society is reduced to?"
As Ironshanks steps off of the dais, he feels his strength return.

Wow....just, wow.
Ironshanks Magee
|
Ironshanks breathes a heavy sigh of relief as he strength returns "Yup, some strange curse magic over there at that door!" He looks around as the strange voice calls out again.
"Eh.. who the hells keeps talkin' to us? Bemmer are you some kinda van-trillaquist somethin'? Where's the doll at?" He looks between Bemmer and Kalk, curious on both the voice and if Kalk is being weakened by the dais as well.
Take 10 on perception: 20
| GM Rinaldo |
Not knowing his physical strength before, it is hard to say whether the dais is weakening Kalkamedes or not.
Hannar aims the wand and casts the spell, but the sleepwalker moves just as the magical energy reaches him, and it hits the door. Wow is right. Bad luck there, dude. Want to try again? That's two charges of the wand used.
"And look, you did cast the spell on the door. Very useful. Somebody put me in his hand, he can't do a worse job of taking care of himself than you guys are doing right now."
Wraith {Gōsutoha ~Ghost Lotus}

Just a reminder that I have played this, so I will let the others solve this one.

One of the reasons I have been trying to do it. That and I thought it would slow him down from escaping his rope.

After a few tugs, he hasn't quite gotten in open, though it is clear the spell has helped.
If you want to try hitting anyone else with it, I'll allow conscious willing characters to stand still and not require an attack roll, plus the person with the wand can always target themselves without an attack.

Hannar targets himself with the spell and immediately nearly falls down just from the weight of his gear. He drags himself onto the dais, and suddenly feels like he could lift a bear! He goes to the door and tugs; he feels it move slightly, but not enough. He repeats the process a few more times, and finally gets the door open!
Ironshanks gets a good grip on the rope as Kalkamedes brushes past Hannar and starts walking down a wide corridor. At the end of the corridor, suspended by thick chains, a massive metal cage shaped like a demon’s head hangs over a dark shaft with no bottom in sight. The cage’s door—by all appearances a menacing maw, filled with incisor-like fangs—hangs open to the west. There, a narrow bridge spans the short distance between the ledge and the cage. A small console on the north edge of the bridge bears a single lever.
Bemmer Anvilbrow

Bemmer moves inside the room to look around. The lever is of interest, as is the cage.
Perception Lever: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19

Bemmer moves down the corridor. Looking over the edge, he notes that the bottom is dimly lit and a long way down -- well out of the range of his darkvision.
The lever sits in the center of three positions. The cage itself can accommodate four people, and hangs from chains that are suspended from a set of gears above.
Kalkamedes is trying to move down the corridor toward the cage.
Ironshanks Magee
|
Ironshanks scratches his beard as he watches things unfold about opening the door. He shakes his head slowly and mutters a single word as the group gets through the barrier "Magic."
As he sees the cage dangling and the control panel he gets skeptical "Maybe bafore we all pile on in there and fall to our doom er some magical trap eats us, how 'bout you test out that lever Bem and see what happens eh?" He leans back into Kalk's rope and grinds him to a halt.
Assuming all goes well... "Two of us go down with this fella while 2 stay up? Then they can come back down after. How's that sound? Shouldn't leave anyone high n dry just in case." He volunteers to steer the Kalk boat down with one of the spellcasters with him.
Hannar the Wild
|
How long will the weakness last?
Hannar pulls a wand out of his backpack and says.."The rest of you go down and I can help cover you from here. If anything seriously bad seems to be attacking, back away from the hole entrance and I can cast a Glitterdust down to cover you if needed."
Wraith {Gōsutoha ~Ghost Lotus}
|
"I cannot imagine this is very quiet. If anything is down there, it will know we are coming. Should only two go down, it should be Ironshanks and myself. I would just need Hannar to renew the light enchantment."
Hannar the Wild
|
"But of course." says Hannar casting Light using his Cantrip.
Since we don't need it on kalkamedes anymore, the full 40 min. on Wraith shall be fine.
| GM Rinaldo |
Hannar: Ray of Enfeeblement from a wand lasts 1 round. That's why I rolled a new drain before each STR check above.
Bemmer: Are you pulling the level before people get in, or after? And which direction are you pulling it, up or down?
If people are getting into the cage, I need to know who.
Ironshanks Magee
|
Ironshanks waits semi patiently for Bemmer to TEST the lever before he gets in with Kalk.
Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (15) + 10 = 25
| GM Rinaldo |
Bemmer experiments with the lever, and finds that it works exactly as expected. Pushing the lever into the down position causes the cage to descend, pushing back to the middle causes it to stop, and pushing it up causes it to ascend. Once it reaches the top, it drops into the middle position automatically. This appears to be a fine mix of engineering and magic, and seems to be in good shape.
Ironshanks Magee
|
Ironshanks watches with a keen eye and finally nods with approval "Aight. Let's roll." He heads inside with his charge and waits for another before giving the thumbs up to whoever is running the controls.
