Davrin Emalon |
Yeah, but I'm worried Davrin might have done quite a bit of damage with all the intimidation going on earlier. Was hoping that veiled threat would masked that, but now I worry not. Oh well."
"Souvenirs you say? Any type you're looking for specifically? Snacks? Models? Oh, I know this place that sells a model of Absalom Station. It even hovers and revolves like the real one! And you make it follow you or patrol your room. Don't let the corner street vendors con you though. Their's can barely last a week or so. And there's rumours of someone who got electrocuted by one! You get what you pay for! Come!"
Ratatat |
"Ohhhhh! The non-lethal type of souvenirs!! Right behind ya!"
Ratatat scurries along following the group!
"Harrowed Jack" |

Using the collective savvy shopper tips and tricks that the Starfinder group seems to possess an astonishing level of, a less crowded and slightly upmarket shopping 'experience' is conducted in a sophisticated and well-heeled boutique brand retail locality (certainly not something as pedestrian as a 'mall'!).
Shrani shops up a bit of a storm, and in the end there are a significant number of designer-brand shopping bags and boxes to be carried home, and she looks at you all expectantly.
5 bulk total - so you can work out who is carrying them all
Davrin Emalon |
Davrin looks down at his small and slight build (Str 8) and grins. "Um, looks like I'm not going to be much help with this part of the mission."
(Davrin is 1 bulk away from encumbered.)
Ratatat |
"I can help carry some of those items. Let's see here, give me a few of those bags, no problem!"
Ratatat can carry 2.2 bulk. If needed, he can send a couple items to storage (hygiene kit and field rations) which will then let Ratatat carry 4.2 bulk total.

HK open a portal from nowhere and a vault appears.
Commercial Voice: HK's protocols give you access to his private vault. Your belongings will be safe here for a cost of only 9.99 credit per month! But for you specially, it will be FREE for the duration of your stay as the host of the Starfinder Society.
Says HK
Ratatat |
Looking at HK's portal, Ratatat says, "Welp, that's certainly handy! Where would you like to go next, ambassador?!?"
HunterKiller 42-5 |
In my mind, it's some portal that open to my private box that I can reach anywhere on the material plane.
Private Vault (Slotless Boon; Vanity): The staff of the Communion Vaults takes note of your actions in helping to resolve Whisperer of Solar Winds’ dreamspun tales. The staff provide you with a reasonable space of your own within the Communion Vaults. This 20-by-20-foot square chamber can be used to store any major magical finds you’ve recovered or purchased during your travels. You can bring any number of creatures into this space whenever you like. While this chamber is mostly a personal accomplishment and an area you can show off to others, it does have one tangible benefit: the entire area within your vault is warded by a nondetection effect (caster level 10th).
Davrin Emalon |
Having run that particular scenario, I don't think the boon actually provides a portal into the room. I think they merely set aside a space for you to keep your gear so you still have to physically bring it there.
Ratatat |
Ratatat picks up 2.2 bulk's worth of packages and waits patiently.
Our intrepid heroes' progress is stymied by... Dun! Dun! Dun! Shopping bags!
Marguerite Bourgeoys |
I doubt Shrani would like that.
Marguerite takes a bag with her while talking about her favorite tailor on the Sun.
"Harrowed Jack" |
"Too conspicuous." mutters "Jack" as he spies one of the ysoki nearby. A sharpened, ivory blade of bone suddenly protrudes from his free hand and the half-orc approaches the nearest ysoki. Brandishing the blade at the ysoki, "Jack" threatens, "Don't give me a reason, punk."
"Jack" strikes with his bone blade.

The half-orc then shakes his head, somewhat mournfully and mutters, "You shoulda listen'd, kid."
Ratatat |
Ratatat moves forward, drawing his plasma array thinking that if these ysoki attack, hopefully they'll focus on Ratatat rather than Shrani.
"Waddup fellas! You should probably back off cuz between my colleague's bone blade and my lil toy here..." Ratatat gestures to the plasma array he's wielding... "...going away will be in your best interest. Whaddaya say your guy put away the grenade and we all go home?"
Ratatat gets ready to shoot at yellow if any of the ysoki advance closer to the party or initiate any hostile action - such as attacking.
Fire and Electric Damage: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Davrin Emalon |
Davrin quickly grabs Shrani and pulls her back towards the nearest corridor, interposing himself in front. Uncharacteristically, Davrin keeps quiet, hoping not to draw attention to him and, more importantly, to Shrani.
I've positioned us according, if the GM allows for that. Not sure if that is just a move action, or a move and standard action. If Davrin still has a standard action...
If the ysokis are clearly hostil
Davrin pulls out his weapon. (That should be a move action.)
Marguerite Bourgeoys |
Marguerite follows Davrin and wait for a signe of hostility from the Usokis.
Shifty |
Davrin drags Shrani out of the impending hot zone.
The street explodes into chaos as gunfire and laser weapons start opening up!
Harrowed lashes out, seriously injuring the combatant Ysoki! In response it clutches the wound and sprints away!
HK and Marguerite tag another Ysoki as it lobs a grenade around the corner, it falls down under the barrage and fumbles the grenade into the street - it detonates with a loud flash and bang.
Rat beats the Ysoki to the draw, plugging it once.

From a prone position on the rooftop, the sniper shoots down at Ratatat.

"Hey, it's your lucky day! You get to witness an actual gang fight on the streets of Absalom! Not all tourists get such a view." Davrin grins brightly, though tinged with a faint sorrow in his eyes. "But stay back, alright? Let me see how I can help end things."
He runs past HK, targeting the same creature, aiming to cut down their numbers quickly.

The street level Ysoki has a really bad day as it is cut down by Harrowed and Davrin.
The leader is pretty much out of reach and not much point in them hanging around - sort of hard to snatch and grab loot from a rooftop
The dust settles.
"That was all so quick! Shrani exclaims!
Just need to see how Rat gets on with his poison

Marguerite Bourgeoys moves toward the Ysokis.
"Ysoki???? Ratata Do you know why they attack us?"

"My guess, Marguerite, is that they were after the ambassador... Unless any one of us have a reason to be tracked down by relatively well armed thugs?"
Shifty |
LOL ninja'd
The toxin takes hold of Ratatat and he starts getting woozy and his vision a bit blurry - but fortunately he is hale and hearty enough to shake off the worst of it...

"That was quite dramatic, does this happen often in Absalom?"
Allowing any player interaction before skipping forward :)
Marguerite Bourgeoys |
"Yes! Weapon control is a big social problem! Anybody can buy weapon to kill anyone! Each Day, they are report of shooting. And nobody talk about this subject. You would think there should at least a législation to put an mod to arms so they don't aim minors or legitimate autority, but Abadarcorps does lobbying to the council because this mod is their signature and they don't want to lose it!" Says Marguerite with vigor.
"Harrowed Jack" |
"Unless any one of us have a reason to be tracked down by relatively well armed thugs?"
The one called "Harrowed Jack" looks as if he is about to speak, but then decided to remain quiet.
"That was quite dramatic, does this happen often in Absalom?"
"If you're referrin' to death." notes the half-orc. "Yes."
Ratatat |
A bit out of breath, Ratatat says, "Depends on if you're the type who's often in trouble, or a VIP..."
Ratatat looks around at his teammates, including himself, poisoned dart sticking out of him... "Or if you're a ragtag group of riffraff. kekek."
Ratatat chuckles good-natured-ly...

With all of the dignitary’s requested tasks completed, you return her to the Lorespire Complex to meet with Chiskisk. The dignitary details the events of their journey with
the group to Chiskisk, which generates a few raised antennae...
"Overall, your representatives have aided me greatly in seeing that the Starfinder Society is an organization worth trusting, and are a credit to the Society"
The dignitary signs the formal agreement immediately, without any further complaint or concern before saying her goodbyes and heading off with Chiskisk for more informal talks.
Congrats!

Thanks Shifty!
Informative Answer: Absalom Station is a dangerous place, that's why you need a protocol android to go with you.
Says HK.
Once back at the Lorespire Complex, HK is relieved that the ambassador seems to have enjoyed her stay with the Starfinders.
Davrin Emalon |
Davrin glows, pleased that he has had another satisfied customer. Even if it is not the usual way.
"Well, Lady Shrani, glad that you had a good time. My more personal services are still available. Completely unaffiliated with the Starfinders, I must add as a disclaimer," he finishes as he glances at Chiskisk. "But here's my contact..."
