Celie |
I’m looking forward to it as well.
Player: Zack
Character: Celie
PFS #-#: 12395-2
Faction: .... grand lodge (I think.... double checking)
Speed: Normal.
As said in the recruitment thread, celie is mainly crowd control with some buffs for the group. She is a little (lot) weird.
Dennis Muldoon |
Yay. If we're playing high-tier, I'll bring Gorf, my 9th level musket-master (that's my preference). If low, then it will be Lord Kwaezi al-Hadir, my 6th level kobold archery-paladin. Kwaezi, being a kobold, is not particularly effective for his level, though, so I'm a little hesitant to bring him in one with a tough reputation.
Silbeg |
Thank you, Pirate GM, for the invite! Looking forward to a fun game!
If we are going high tier I will be bringing Ethan Kaenes, an evoker bloatmage. He is a (half-)Varisian man that has a goal of being recognized by his very Taldan father... who doesn’t even know he exists. And if he did, he would disown Ethan immediate due to what he has done to himself in the quest for power.
For low tier, I have Glastor Glitterhoff III, perhaps the gnomiest gnome you’ll ever meet. He is a cleric of Desna who has focused on making sure that now one dies on his missions. He’d even prefer that included the enemies, but has grown a little pragmatic about that, though it saddens him. He just purchased a phylactory of positive channeling! He loves to share his luck (bit of luck ability) with his teammates, and wherever he goes, butterflies are soon to appear.
It is sort of too bad the Gorf and Glastor are in opposite tiers. Gunslingers love a bit of luck!

Morning folks! My name is Jeff and I'm looking forward to playing with a bunch of new people.
A bit about me (since I suspect that everyone else knows everyone else): I'm a Canadian living just outside Montreal, and I've been playing Pathfinder for 6 years now. A good chunk has been PbP.
I've GMed this one, and I can tell you that it's a great scenario. I'm looking forward to playing and promise to stay spoiler free while making sure I do my part in keeping us moving forward.
As mentioned in recruitment, my options are:
- Roger de Roche, 6th level Fighter
- Mirilani "Miri" Wyrmblight, 8th level Rogue
- Baron Gavin de Roche, 9th level Mad Dog/Urban Barbarian
The first two are what you'd expect. The third is a barbarian with social skills and a companion. I love all these characters, and will happily play any of them.
Given the mix so far, I think I would lean towards my Rogue.
Looking at everyone else, I see a few different configurations. We'll want to settle on a subtier soon. It looks like, from this thread at least, that we all have a high tier option. Should we aim for that? A word of warning though... If we did high tier, I recommend against an out of tier frontliner. This one has the potential for death.
Tai Sapphire |
In that case, I'll commit to Tai.
Player: Kate
Character: Tai Sapphire
PFS #-#: 215650-5
Faction: Scarab Sages
Speed: Normal
I should be able to get her profile updated tonight.
Gavin de Roche |
Since I just noticed that my rogue is now level 10, I'll be going Barbarian
Player: Jeff
Character: Gavin de Roche
PFS #-#: 77280-7
Faction: Sovereign Court
Speed: 30
Gorf Repus |
Player: Dennis
Character: Gorf Repus
PFS #-#: 215589-7
Faction: Dark Archive
Speed: 30
I'll get Gorf's stats updated tonight.
Sayna Elantho |
Having looked at the group, I'm completely confident we will be more than okay. I'm confident that Sayna will be a worthwhile addition.
Player: Evie
Character: Sayna Elantho
PFS#: 99807-20
Faction: Liberty's Edge
Speed: 20 ft in armor, but she'll prob pre-buff longstrider from her wand to get that up to 30
Sayna Elantho |
Important notes on Sayna mechanics:
Sayna gives up the mount as part of her archetype (Sister-in-Arms) in exchange for all the order abilities of both Order of the Dragon and Order of the Lion, but only following the edicts of one, Order of the Dragon in her case.
She is currently suffering from arcane spell failure from wearing heavy armor, but all of her spells except open/close, prestidigitation, and read magic lack somatic components, so she shouldn't have to worry about failure chance much, if at all.
Also, she has enough fire ink tattoos on her face and hands that they give off as much light as a torch
Ethan Kaenes |
Very well... you have chose. Wisely to bring me along. Fire power is my middle name... no, not really! I am a specialist in evocations, but my favorite spell is fireball... and I am very, very good with them. I spontaneously convert my spells to fireballs, and I can add up to 2 levels of metamagics to them without costing spell levels. These include heighten, empower, and piercing. Plus I can convert my fireballs to other elements as needed.
Yes, I have a rod of selective spell, just in case fools get themselves in the way of my spells
As a bloat mage, I also have a bloat pool, which is handy. This is why I actually memorize an empowered fireball, and an empowered piercing fireball... to use with my blood pool.
Player: Jack Brown
Character: Ethan Kaenes
PFS# 788-17
Faction: The Exchange.
Speed: 20 (walking, but really?) Fly 30’ (good) with overland flight.
Gorf Repus |
Oooookay. I don't think we're gonna be hurtin' for DPS this game.
A note for Rob on Gorf: Gorf is a hunter, but he doesn't much like huntin' folks. His musket is merciful, and unless stated otherwise it is in nonlethal mode.
Ethan Kaenes |
I would like to purchase 5 alchemist’s fire for Ethan. Still looking if there is more, but he is probably going to keep saving for his ring of freedom of movement (as a bonded item).
Also, he has a Force Punch stored in his spell storing armor (caster level 11)
Pirate GM |
If everything has gone as planned, I have sent each of you a private message with a link to your faction mission for this scenario. You'll find the notes in your belongings shortly after the briefing.
If you have any trouble or if I've sent you the wrong message please let me know. Note only the original 5 (Andoran, Cheliax, Osirion, Qadira, Taldor) factions are present since it is season 2.
Obviously there are some potential timeline problems with some of these NPCs, and some of them may be addressing you in somewhat strange ways, we're not going to worry about any of that.
You are under no obligation to complete them but they add some nice color to the adventure.
Pirate GM |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Happy to have resists negate the normal dangers of travelling. You won't find an official ruling because there isn't one. (Note that 140+ starts having the possibility of doing more than 5 damage, although if its that hot you've got other problems)
Some notes that help support that position: Mythic Endure Elements gives resist instead of the normal text, I don't imagine it's designed to not protect against its normal stuff.
Obviously not a rules source, but quite useful for intent: JJ says it works.
The extreme cold further requires a Fortitude save... See page 442 of the Pathfinder RPG Core Rulebook for further details. A simple endure elements spell will negate these dangers, as will any amount of cold resistance.
Ethan Kaenes |
GM, I am updating my character sheet to show Ethan memorizing (and using) Phantom Chariot daily.
Sayna Elantho |
Oh I meant to ask before, but does anyone here use a shield? Sayna’s teamwork feat is Shield Wall (she needs it for Sisterhood Style chain), and it only works if someone else is wearing one
No big deal if nobody does! It’s not a big bonus.
Tai Sapphire |
Nope, sorry!
Ethan Kaenes |
Shields are something guards wield. Not true practitioners of power.
Sayna Elantho |
Ah well. Maybe next adventure!
In other news, I'm looking forward to seeing our wizard blow up some scorpions who are conveniently clustered for fireball haha
Ethan Kaenes |
I mean... Ethan should be averaging 54 damage per empowered fireball. Really.
And Dennis, thank you again for sharing those templates.
Sayna Elantho |
I once did a mythic fireball (6d10) and then did a normal one right after (6d6) that did almost the same damage, so I know your pain
Subject - 42 |
If you think that's bad, Ethan has my second most used character's avatar.. SO i have to think sometimes, which game is this?..
Pirate GM |
It's an important encounter so I"m willing to spend some time here but so we're not stuck in this encounter forever we should figure out what the plan is.
The wall of force won't last especially long, probably no more than 1-2 more conversational exchanges. There's clearly some issues with her story of being ambushed and attacked by pathfinders but you're not going to get any more story from her without giving her a clear or at least convincing escape route.
We should take a moment OOC and figure out what the plan is without the IC vitriol. Obviously any complicated plan would be difficult to coordinate at this point, but we should figure out where we're going at least so I can narrate appropriately and help move us forward.
Sayna Elantho |
Letting them out makes the most sense to me, even ooc. It’s clearer now that their caginess was likely coming from just wanting to make sure they stay safe. In character, a devout Shelynite isn’t going to advocate violence unless absolutely necessary.
I mean the IC vitriol as just that, in-character. As I said at the beginning, I’m perfectly fine with someone RPing their character as a condescending ass as long as I can make it a back and forth. Not much fun in clashing personalities unless they actually clash!
Gorf Repus |
Yeah, Gorf isn't anxious to shoot people, if it can be helped. He will definitely keep his musket in nonlethal mode.
Sayna Elantho |
Well, blech. Sorry everyone if Sayna got it wrong. If she did, we could go chase after the Thuvians I suppose.
Ethan Kaenes |
WHAT? You knew Ethan would offer something like that!
Sayna Elantho |
I’ll get up my next post in the morning. Thursdays are my long day and im crashing
Pirate GM |
As a note I'm going to be out of town From Wednesday noon until Saturday night this coming week. Despite my best intentions in the past I've generally found myself unable to post effectively as a GM while on vacation, so we'll just be taking an intermission for a few days.
Thanks for your understanding.
Ethan Kaenes |
That is fine with me... I will be on vacation Thurs-Mon
So a pause would be fine by me. I will check when I can... but you know how that goes.
Pirate GM |
Sorry to be slow. spent yesterday wrestling with my gencon schedule and then suddenly had to go to work a couple hours early
update coming soon.
Sayna Elantho |
Just a heads up: my wife and I are going on a mini vacation for our anniversary from Thursday afternoon until Saturday evening. We will be taking it easy so I may have time to post, but I won’t have my computer, just my phone, so don’t count on me being active. Sorry for the inconvenience!
Pirate GM |
Congrats! I suspect we'll be a little slow with several out for PaizoCon. I'll be home taking care of the 3yr old while my wife goes to a con.
Sayna Elantho |
This puzzle is incredibly annoying :/ I don’t like how it essentially penalizes people for trying it unless they’ve put a bunch in appraise
Gavin de Roche |
I've GMed this, and I admit this is the annoying part of this scenario.
And sorry I'm not contributing much here. I don't want to spoil things.
I will say though that folks are on the right track. Just got to get the order right, and the value of the items is part of the trick to this.
