Bossk Sharptooth |
Moving over to the other threat Bossk raises his sword held high blood still dripping off of it.
”I will tell you, like I told your boss, give up now or I add your blood to my blade.”
Intimidate: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11

Rage Round 6
Khellek the historian |
Out of the webs, Khellek brushes the sticky stuff from his robes.
"That is better.", then realising that the man is still fighting, turns his sternest glare upon the last combatant.
"You should be going now."
intimidate(aid): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
Well, it works on students..
Florin Leogil |
"Stop and Live. Or Resist and Die. Choose one. I'm not particularly fussy." Florin snarks, her own heavy weapon held high.
Intimidate, aid another. 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3 I'm the keeper of low rolls apparently.
GM Scott |
Florin attempts to scare the lone standing guard but he seems like he is in pretty good health and feels like he is winning this particular fight. (And I have to follow his morale for PFS, so he fights on.)
Bossk attempts to scare the very healthy guard as well and seeing as that didn't work, smacks him pretty hard.
Jack delays.
Tatiana channels and heals everyone except Jack, whom is out of range. Heals all the bad guys too because she is super nice.
Khellek also attempts to scare the guard but feels like it might have been a really long time since that used to work on students.
Yabatha moves through the difficult terrain to Theodorus's side (again provoking an AoO from Green) and stabilizes him. AoO melee sword: 1d20 + 8 - 1 ⇒ (17) + 8 - 1 = 24 damage: 1d8 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 3 + 2 = 10 But this time the the guard connects and leaves a stinging mark but it doesn't all seem to go through.
Red now awake, stands up a little shakily and says "Oh no Theodorus is down. I didn't get paid enough to die for him, I'm out of here." His standing up provokes from Bossk, Khellek, and Yabatha if you choose to. He seems a bit shaky and puts his hands on his knees like he is about the pass out from standing up too fast.
Green says "Don't go Bobbylee, help me kill these vile creatures. Can't you see they are consorting with these half breeds." then attacks Bossk who hit him melee sword: 1d20 + 8 - 1 ⇒ (12) + 8 - 1 = 19 damage: 1d8 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 3 + 2 = 11
Bossk: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26 (scent while raging)
Khellek: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (13) - 2 = 11
Florin: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2
Yabatha: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
Tatiana: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
Jack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20
Red: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Green: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20
Green says "Bobbyjoe what's that funny noise I hear."
Red says "I don't hear nutin Rickybobby."
Green says "Maybe it's reinforcements."
Red says "I don't feel so good, we should get out of here and let Theodorus clean up his own mess."
Green says "But I'm winning and Momma didn't raise no quitter. Plus we can't leave Billybob here, my sister MaryJane would kill me if I left her cousin-husband behind. Where is she ever gonna find another fella that actually likes her, we all out of marrying cousins?"

Khellek the historian |
Khellek steps carefully away from the threatening man in the red jacket.
5' step He then pulls out a wand, and touches Bossk with it.
"Here you go. No students down on my watch"
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
He scowls at the wand. "I should have kept the receipt."
Florin Leogil |
Florin pulls out a wand and uses it on herself.
Wand of shield.
Mage Armor +4
Shield +4
AC 20, will need that boost.
GM Scott |
Florin buffs up.
Bossk lands a solid hit on Rickybobby and knocks him to the ground. And he though he was winning the fight.
Jack continues to Delay
Tatiana watches the guard fall down, then gets into position to smack him again should he stand up.
Khellek heals Bossk but the wand seems to be acting up.
Yabatha heals herself.
Red begins to walk away and is saying "I'm leaving. I told you Rickybobby, we ain't got paid enough to die for this fool." He provokes AoO from Yabatha, Khellek, and Bossk if you choose.
You hear as he gets a little farther away. "Hmm, maybe I can spin this tale into the lone survivor of the werewolf ambush. Maryjane is going to be single again and needing some consoling."
You are out of combat unless you choose to pursue the fleeing guard. The forest surrounding you has gone quiet. You have a chance to heal yourselves and secure Theodorus before you heal him to consciousness and talk to him if you choose. If you want to talk to him, you can attempt a Diplomacy check to improve his attitude as you clearly saw he was hostile to you and knocking him out didn't improve his attitude. Or you all can leave the scene and continue on, the full moon is not going to last forever and you have a lot of ground to cover yet. There is a trail to follow.

What do you do?
Khellek the historian |
"Let us try to talk with the inquisitor. He may know stuff, and at the very least our actions in not eating him and his companions may prompt some re-thinking of our 'innately evil' nature." suggests Khellek.
He does carefully remove the mans weapons and equipment first though.
Also, did he have any magic items on him? Khellek will detect before we bring the man around.
"So, Theodorus..." he starts.
"You are at our mercy, and yet - in spite of your claims of our evil ways and being allies with darkness, we don't eat you or kill you. We really are trying to cleanse the evil from this area, and these are just guises that we wear to help in the task."
diplomacy: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18 Some aid-anothers may be helpful here
"Even if you don't like us, do you have any extra information you can provide about what we are going to face?"
Tatiana Malkolva |
Tatiana takes back her form despite the pain.
She heals Theodorus's wounds with her wand.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
We even healed you. We've worked with you to find the truth about the murder.
We were blessed by Ashava to fight an evil spirit in this swamp. That's why we appear like monster to you. None of your men are dead. Is that the working of an evil creature?
Theodorus, we are your allies, not your enemies. Work with us to fight what evil has taking done the place. Pharasma be my witness
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (20) + 11 = 31

CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
That makes me full
Bossk leans over with his hands on his knees. trying to regain his breath.
"We might want to move a way from the webs before something thinks of us as a night snack."
Yabatha Grimna |
Yabatha calmly uses the wand to heal her allies. Still, slightly in shock of what just happened. We can't leave them here, they will meet a worse end. Should we wake them and tell them to retreat?
Wand on herself.: 2d8 + 2 ⇒ (7, 1) + 2 = 10
Florin Leogil |
[b]"First have this Inquisitor clear his own misunderstanding else We'll just leave him here so that he doesn't hinder us."[/]b Florin snorts.
GM Scott |
Also, did he have any magic items on him? Khellek will detect before we bring the man around.
He has a magical chain shirt. The guards also each have a potion.
After you all make your good arguments (with an excellent roll), Theodorus begrudgingly agrees that he may have misjudged the situation, but he refuses to apologize for his actions. He will return to Magnimar with his guards and not pursue you again.
You continue on following the trail. Unless anyone else heals up or changes form, this is the current status I have for you.

GM Scott |
Crumbling tombs and moss-covered gravestones stretch out along the northern and southern sides of the path. To the east, the way narrows and splits, plunging into thicker brambles and dense undergrowth. At the center of the fork in the road, a group of small, glowing creatures carry the bloodied and inert body of a regal woman in silvery armor, whisking her away into the gloaming woods.
A disheveled woman in dented armor and a feathered cloak hobbles after the group, crying out to them. Her golden hair is a tangle of knots and twigs, and blood seeps from numerous cuts across her dirt-covered skin. “Cybelle! No! Bring her back!”
She reaches out a trembling hand, and feathers start appearing on her arm. A sharp cry of pain escapes her as she shudders. Her arm goes limp at her side, and the feathers vanish.
Overwhelmed by exhaustion, the woman collapses to her knees and sobs. “Please, help! Those little fiends stole my daughter, Cybelle. They’re in league with that terrible will-o’-wisp. Please save her!”
GM Scott |
With no time to waste, you pursue the creatures in an effort to rescue Cybelle.
Enter chase scene music...
Chase Rules
The chase assumes a baseline movement speed of 30 feet. PCs with a movement speed slower than 20 feet take a –2 penalty on all of their checks during the chase. PCs with a movement speed above 30 feet, such as the speed increase granted from wolf form, gain a +2 bonus on all of their skill checks for every 10 feet that their movement speed is greater than 30 feet. Please include your adjustment with your rolls if this applies to you.
The PCs can also use spells and abilities with a sufficiently long duration to augment their abilities, providing themselves with mechanical bonuses to their checks. Spells or abilities with a duration of 1 minute per level confer their benefits for one obstacle. If the PCs use spells or abilities with a duration of 10 minutes per level or longer, they receive their benefits for the entire chase. For example, a PC who casts longstrider would increase her movement speed for all of the obstacles.
Everyone should attempt the checks as they all can potentially help.
GM Scott |
Obstacle 1: Bramble Patch
A thick growth of thorny brambles obstructs the area where the lurkers fled.
Check
Slip Between: Dexterity
Bust Through: CMB
These are either or choices, not both. Pick one you want to try and roll for it. Don't forget to include any speed adjustments or spells you think might help.
Tatiana Hybrid Form |
Tatiana is more than happy that Theodorus seems convince that he made a mistake, even if he didn't apologize. At least, Pharasama has still plan with him. Good or bad, she can't say.
When they meet the woman she doesn't know first if she must help her or not, but when she speaks about the terrible will-O'-wisp her heart is ready. She must save Cybelle!
Tatiana despite the pain, transforms into a wolf and starts pursuing the glowing creatures.
As a thick growth of thorny brambles obstructs the area she tries to slip in-between!
Skip Between (Dexterity): 1d20 + 4 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 + 4 = 9
But she gets stuck!
Khellek the historian |
Khellek takes a moment to change form to that of a wolf to enjoy the benefits of the form. He howls once in pain as he does so.
Arghh, and some do this all the time? No wonder they are so foul tempered. Hmm. there may be a thesis in that. 'Attitudinal adjustments as lycanthropes with respect to relative pain of transformation.'
He tries to slip through the brambles
DEX, speed: 1d20 + 2 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 2 + 4 = 12
But the new form doesn't prove quite as convenient as he hoped.
Florin Leogil |
CMB 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
Florin despite being a student of the Mysteries Arcane first started out as a warrior and it shows.
Her sturdy frame powers through everything in her way even though she could have chosen another method.....
GM Scott |
Florin fail
Bossk fail
Jack success
Tatiana fail
Khellek assist
Yabatha fail
Jack with some assistance from Khellek are able to help everyone get past the Bramble Patch. Realizing that this is actually challenging they think it would be best if they all start to work together. The DCs at this tier are low 30s, so you all might want to think about teamwork.
Obstacle 2: Quicksand
On the other side of the thicket, large patches of quicksand dot the marshland, making passage through the swamp treacherous.
Check
Jump Over: Acrobatics
Wade In: Swim
These are either or choices, not both. Pick one you want to try and roll for it. Don't forget to include any speed adjustments or spells you think might help.

Jump over (acrobatics): 1d20 + 10 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 10 + 4 = 19
She doesn't jump as far as she hopes but at least she able to help someone!
Bossk Sharptooth |
Bossk not for being someone who just goes around things. Just wades in to the water and swims across
Swim: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 7 + 2 = 24

Khellek the historian |
The scholar-wolf looks less than happy with the quicksand.
"Woof" he growls as he mimics Tatiana, trying to jump over it.
acrobatics, speed: 1d20 + 1 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 1 + 4 = 19
The scholar actually makes a surprisingly good distance, albeit not enough to keep his paws dry.
Yabatha Grimna |
Yabatha tires her best to mimic the party as she slugs herself I to the water and points out where it's too fast to cross, hopefully aiding the entire team. Swim Aid: 1d20 - 5 ⇒ (10) - 5 = 5
GM Scott |
Florin (H) fail
Bossk (N) assist
Jack (W) success
Tatiana (W) fail
Khellek (W) fail
Yabatha (H) fail
N, H, W (Normal, Hybrid, Wolf)
Jack and Bossk working together are able to help everyone get swim through the Quicksand.
Obstacle 3: Slippery Log
The lurkers sped across a patch of water with an alligator floating in the center, which is hungrily watching the chase. A wet log bridges the banks of the river, while vines dangle precariously from the forest canopy above.
Check
Balance Beam: Reflex
Vine Ropes: Climb
These are either or choices, not both. Pick one you want to try and roll for it. Don't forget to include any speed adjustments or spells you think might help.
Chase Rules
Bossk Sharptooth |
climb: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 7 + 2 = 18
Grabbing the vine Bossk starts to climb, but sees others having problems he slows down to assist others.
"One hand over the other, there you go."
Khellek the historian |
Holding his paws out for balance, Khellek shakes his head at Jack and tries to pad across the log.

Yabatha Grimna |
Yabatha tries her best, exhausted from the swim to keep up with the group. Bossk, like this?
climb aid: 1d20 - 5 ⇒ (3) - 5 = -2
Khellek the historian |
Ahh... okay, so it makes sense to all pile into the same skill check if we can. I'll do things differently next round. Not that it would have made much of a difference this time.
Bossk Sharptooth |
I just pick the biggest skill I have to pick from. But if someone wants to go first then I will pick that skill if I have it.
Florin Leogil |
Damm it, I have practically none of the skills needed lol.
Aid Another Climb 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27
All skills that Florin has will be used on Aid another. Since DCs as mentioned are in the 30s.
Florin attempts to aid where she can....A sinking feeling that she spent far too much time fighting books and old pages.........
GM Scott |
Florin (H) success
Bossk (N) assist
Jack (W) assist
Tatiana (W) fail
Khellek (W) fail
Yabatha (H) fail
N, H, W (Normal, Hybrid, Wolf)
You don't have to say if you are the main or the aid, I have to use the highest for the base and then anyone over 10 gets the assist.
Florin with help from Bossk and Jack are able to help everyone climb the vine ropes.
Obstacle 3: Spiderwebs
Large webs cling from tree to tree, obstructing your path.
Check
Move Around: Escape Artist
Rip ‘Em Up: Strength
These are either or choices, not both. Pick one you want to try and roll for it. Don't forget to include any speed adjustments or spells you think might help.

Wolf-Khellek tries to muscle his way through the webs.
My, this form does have some advantages
STR,speed: 1d20 - 1 + 4 ⇒ (19) - 1 + 4 = 22
Yes! The 8 strength scholar makes the best check. This one is certainly going down in the chronicle. Right next to taking out the bear with a crossbow bolt between the eyes.
Florin Leogil |
These Skill checks are pure evil.
Str 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5 Come on.
Florin tries to aid as much as possible but somehow her strength fails her.........
