Waki Huro
|
Waki remains silent as he watches the reaction of Krima and what the guards decide to do.
Aiden Richter
|
Aiden nods. "The inquisitor told you that we shouldn't touch anything or go where we shouldn't. I'm sure Krima is well qualified to watch us. This way, you can go back with the others to play cards."
Bluff (ST): 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 6 + 1 = 21

bump?
Waki Huro

Waki stands and waits for Krima to make a statement for or against their staying.
Krima?
Nectanebo the Vulture

Wasn't like this before, I promise you; something has to be 'up' with our DM.
Nectanebo the Vulture
|
You realize that COULD totally be a thing in Pathfinder, right?
Aiden Richter

This game has always been slow paced, but this is more of a hiatus. I know the GM has previously mentioned that RL has swamped him. I would like to finish this series though. Should we look for another GM or give him more time?

| 1 person marked this as a favorite. |
I'd follow Lukaas on this one. I also want to finish the serie... and we stopped at a most interesting time!
@Lukaas: joli jeu de mot, l'ami ^^
Djorn
|
I don't mind waiting but the end of the month seems a long time. It's already been more than a week. I'd vote for starting to look for a substitute on Monday, which would be 2 weeks from the last time the GM posted.
GM Upaynao

Please take a moment to read my post in the discussion thread. In the meantime, here we go.
Galvar hems and haws for a moment. "Well I mean..." But Lukaas' words ring true. Besides, maybe he can convince the man to help him patrol the barracks. By the gods, is he starting to get hungry.
"I suppose it can't hurt. Play nice with Krima, she's liable to break every bone in your body!" he calls, before guffawing as he steps back into the hallway with Lukaas, heading back towards the barracks. "Say, are you hungry? I can smell that stew from here. Maybe we can get Merkal to hand you a bowl!"
Meanwhile, Merkal scratches his head. "I think my ma got them at the market. Makes for good eatin' doesn't it?"
As Galvar steps away, Krima steps up to the door and shuts it closed with a scowl. "What in sweet Milani's name are you even doing here?"
Nectanebo the Vulture
|
"I don't care for them, myself. I was just...curious. I DO know a particular further ingredient that is said to go well with this mixture, if one likes that sort of thing. Can't quite remember what it's called right now, but I'll see if any of my...affiliates have any on them."
Nectanebo makes his way to the others.
"Oil of Taggit," He murmurs. "Got any?"
GM Upaynao
|
Just as a reminder, you were given some at the very beginning. Check my initial posts.
Esh Kethar
|
Esh grins and slowly and quietly says one word.
"Balinger."
Waki Huro
|
Waki nods to Nectanebo.
”Aye. Possess some we do. “ in a hush
He can hand it over or offer to use it since he can handle poison.
Nectanebo the Vulture
|
Nectanebo looks back at Waki.
"Hmm...I was just wondering because several of the herbs in their soup just happen to comprise a very effective catalyst for oil of Taggit. If you were to put that in there, it would hit anyone who ate it *hard*. Don't ask me how I know this. Haven't even thought about it in decades...."
Waki Huro
|
Waki will nod and look for an opportunity to head back and talk to the cooks and sample .
The chili.
”Paperwork holds not my interest. Some spice this soup needs told I am.“
can do a sleight of hand if needed but not really trying to hide that he is interested in mixing
GM Upaynao
|
Krima rolls her eyes. "OF course he's here, but how in the name of the Inheritor are you going to get him out? Even if I join in, there's still eleven of them, not to mention if Gardo gets out the front door, you'll be screwed before you even make it past the inner gate!"
Back in the barracks, it is clear to Waki that most of the guards are indifferent to what sort of spicing is given to the rabbit stew. However, there is one person who cares very deeply about it.
"What, you saying I dunno how ta spice things? I'm a better cook than you bird-man" says Merkal, to more than a couple of chuckles.
Waki you have different options here. You can soothe his ego (diplomacy), make up some lie involving back-talk by another guard (bluff), demonstrate that you are the better cook (profession:cook) or wait till he is distracted before pouring the vial's contents in (sleight of hand).
Waki Huro
|
”No sleight intended to your cooking did I. A suggestion for more exotic taste to variety add. “
Waki bows humbly as he deftly palms the vial...
”Look around at these men well you know. Finer tastes may be wasted on them but you will appreciate. “ he motions to the hungry guards with a dramatic wave of his arm.
Sleight of hand : 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26 to add the oil to the soup.
Esh Kethar
|
Esh is happy to form a team with Aiden again.
"Can you draw a sketch of where he's held?"
GM Upaynao
|
Waki there were two doses of Oil of Taggit. Are you putting both in or just the one? Adding two is a higher sleight of hand DC, but the DC of the fortitude check to resist the effects is two higher. I guess the question is: how confident are you that a 26 is enough to dump two vials in at this 4-5 subtier?
Krima makes a face, teeth clenched as she runs a quick mental calculus. "Yes, I can. To an extent" she replies to Aiden. "I managed to forge a key to the inquisitor's office. If Desna favors you today, you should find a key to the inner ring and the interrogation room. If not, you'll have to take a look in the vault. The door to the vault is most assuredly trapped, but I'm also willing to bet that he keeps a note on the combination to open it" she adds, as she grabs a piece of vellum and begins to sketch out the prison with a piece of coal. "Our friend Balinger is either in a cell, or is being interrogated. The inquisitor has these things that he uses to dampen the sound." She draws an X at the center of the inner circle. (See the map I have linked.) "That's where you'll find him and those Bellflowers the inquisitor just had delivered here."
Waki Huro
|
Waki had only intended on adding one oil to the mix.
”Ready It should be now. Distribute and enjoy.“ h
Esh Kethar
|
Esh grins. "What about tricks? You can disappear from sight easily. Unless there is some kind of magical protection..."
GM Upaynao
|
Merkal nods. In his mind, the stew was ready five minutes ago, but ... Oh well. Its' not like you can overcook stew right? "STEW'S READY!" As one, most of the guards move towards the barracks, leaving only a few guards to watch over the main hall.
"I can make an excuse, but you'd be the ones carrying that deception. Or you could try and sneak on past, if you take advantage of that diversion" comments Krima, referring to the lunch break. "Fortunately, there is no magic at hand here. I think. Certainly not to get past the gates to the office."
Any other actions before I have to make a ton of Fort saves for the guards? You have perhaps thirty seconds or so.
Waki Huro
|
Waki waits for the stew to do its thing.
His work done, he heads back to rejoin the others outside the mess hall talking with Krima.
Djorn
|
Djorn simply rises from his spot at the table. He goes and gets a bowl of stew (waiting to be last in line) but does not eat any. It simply puts him in a position to be ready to deal with anyone not put to sleep.
Aiden Richter
|
Aiden looks to the door when he hears the call for dinner. "Fine, that will have to do. Esh, you ready?" He takes the key and moves to the door. He prepares to move towards the office while the guards go for dinner.
Aiden will try to sneak once he's back in the corridor, unless there's someone right there.
Nectanebo the Vulture
|
Nectanebo tries to keep inconspicuous as he wanders about examining the decor, as is his proclivity.
Esh Kethar
|
Esh nods at the chelaxian and follows closely, ready to act.
I just realized Esh doesn't know "invisibility", he can only vanish xD anyway, it might be the same thing for him.
GM Upaynao
|
As the guards start pouring into the barracks, it becomes clear to Nectanebo, Djorn and Waki that not all guards will be partaking in the stew. One of the guards, grumbles something about keeping it down while she sleeps, and of the guards by the entrance none abandons their post to get some food, in spite of the fact that there does seem to be some left in the pot.

The guards begin to wolf the stew down eagerly.
Nectanebo the Vulture
|
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17
"Damn," Nectanebo sotto voces through gritted teeth as he gestures two three of the many guards. "It looks to me like only those three are really feeling it. Other than that, it's not working...what was our other plan?"
Waki Huro
|
perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11
Waki is surprised the guards seem to actually enjoy the stew.
He moves silently to the door as the guards enjoy the stew, waiting for the stew to take effect.
Djorn
|
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11
Djorn can't quite fight a grin as their plan starts to fall into place. "Like taking candy from a sleepy baby," he says, quietly, watching expectantly for all the guards to nod off.
Aiden Richter
|
I don't see any way that Aiden or Esh know what you guys are doing at the moment...
Aiden cracks the door open and slips out to the corridor. He glances down towards the guards and tries to move around the corner before they can see him.
Stealth: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
Well this is going well...
Esh Kethar

*facepalm*
Esh tries to follow Aiden stealthily.

Waki Huro

As the guards finishing eating, Waki is going to work his way towards the door and closer to Djorn.
Waki starts counting the remaining guards and wondering if their will be a fight.
Perhaps regroup and our tour finish we should?

Perception, Listening: 1d20 + 7 - 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 - 7 = 2
Perception, Listening: 1d20 + 7 - 10 ⇒ (14) + 7 - 10 = 11
Well... This is going to suck.
Suddenly, guards begin to yawn and collapse, to the consternation of their fellows. All asleep guards are recolored in blue.
"Hey? HEY! WHAT'S GOING ON?" begins to shout Merkal, looking around wildly, suspiciously eyeing the "Aspis agents" in their midst.
Djorn, Waki and Nectanebo, you have an option to feign innocence, which would actually be pretty easy as noone really has any clue what has just happened. However, in light of what is about to happen outside, you might want to consider all options. I am all for deceiving the crap out of those guards. And I also am not adverse to an all-out fight with the remaining guards.
Meanwhile, most of the guards still guarding the place are distracted by the clamor coming from the barracks.
Most. The sound of the key going into the lock and the squeaking of metal on metal catches the last guard's attention.
"Hey! You there, fancy hat! And you citizen! Stop it right there! Where do you think you're going?"
Esh, you have not been spotted. Lukaas, Aiden... As they say in French: "On est un peu dans la merde là."
Should there be a desire to do harm to these guards, I will give you a surprise round which you can take in the order you desire. I'll then roll initiative for you all.
Waki Huro
|
Waki stands and waits to see the reaction of his comrades before he acts, not sure attacking while separated is wise.
Delays and will either go invis via ki to escape or move to flank/attack if allies engage
Esh Kethar
|
Esh, hearing what happens, casts Vanish and disappears. He tries to reach the next door to open it.
Aiden Richter
|
Aiden looks back at the guard. Damn, I thought they would be eating...
"Eh, Krima sure can talk about all those papers. She and the half-breed are still in the thick of it. She said I could leave to the find the privy. Come on, if you really need escort me there, I'll even let you hold it!" He laughs and winks at the guard.

Djorn sighs. "Well...that could have worked better," he mutters. It's now or never though. The last thing they need is for the awake guards to start waking up the asleep guards.
In a flash of his hands, his hammer and shield are in his hands. In almost the same gesture, he swings them at the closest guard.
Quickdraw combined with a quick draw light steel shield and he has the alchemist's fire slotted in his breakaway shield boss.
