Lullaby seems startled at first, as if she's seen a ghost, but then nods and begins to sing the tune. As Remy dances, a small crowd begins to form around her. The children laugh and clap along, and some of the younger girls run up and start to mimic the dance along side you.

A round of applause shortly follows the conclusion of the duet. The crowd seems happy, and pleased and it feels like for just a moment they leave the two ladies alone. The bard, flicks her hair out of the way of her face, and begins calmly, "Have you now? And here I thought you were too busy playing hero? I heard what you did." She leans over closely, you can feel her breathe warm on your cheek, "But I bet I don't even know the half of it?"

She quickly bolts back upright, looks you up and down. She looks at your fatigued body, and sees the bruises through your clothes, "You look like ***t. Let's go get a drink!" She turns around swiftly, and begins to march towards the town inn.

Flik, all of this concerns you greatly. You have read about the place in books, and have heard many rumours from drunken folk who visit the taverns at night. Is it really a Thassilonian ruin too?

DC 20 Kn. Local (anyone), or DC 14 Intelligence (Flik only):
The eerie sight of Rivenrake Island has long frightened and intrigued sailors. With an imperious, stern face carved into the southern peak, the remnants of an enormous stone bridge extending from the tor’s lower slopes, and the sprawling ruins of an ancient city scattered amid the forested crags and fissures of its roots, the mountain has held a special place in the sea lore and superstition of those who ply the waters of Avistan’s western coast. Adventurers spread rumors that the mountain was honeycombed with dungeons and caverns, to an extent that the region’s modern name, Hollow Mountain, became widely known.

As Audrahni sleeps restlessly in Alustria's arms, Father Desil brings a cup of water for the younger druid, and a wet cloth for her relative. He watches, and carefully listens to the descriptions of the nightmares. His face sours, "I fear, that perhaps it was worse that I suspected. The Mother of Bones listens to all those who walk through her doors, but she hasn't spent long in Roderic Cove. She came to this town in need of rebuilding her faith in humanity. I fear that the events of the past few days have spiralled her deeper into her own depression." You sense that there is definitely more to the story than he lets on.

I would encourage everyone to roleplay a bit here, there is so much still to do, and information to be gained! Remember all of the NPC's you've met a long the way, everyone is important if you want them to be. Doesn't have to be long expressive posts, but just let me know what you want to do with your time.

Remy blushes slightly when Lullaby leans in close, then quickly moves to follow her, easily catching up and keeping pace. "Well, I got impaled by a halberd and almost died. So I apologize if I'm not exactly pageant ready right now," she says lightly.

Once they get to the inn, the monk orders a mug of ale sits across from Lullaby. "You said I only know the half of what I've done. How about you tell me the other half, then?"

Maddie, her normal boundless energy a bit subdued from their adventures, wanders out into the town she grew up in, trying to figure out what's different in this new world. She goes to her house, and watches it for a little bit, but ultimately keeps moving on.

That night Fergus tries to find the dwarves he spoke with earlier. He says in dwarven, Greetings Flintglow, Rockgem and Noblemaul. I'm suspecting that you heard that the children have been returned. Are you felling better about this town now or is there something else you have been hearing that is giving you the willies?

Lullaby gives you a funny look, and you get the feeling she wants to make an inappropriate comment, but stops herself in this circumstance. As you get to the inn, she walks in like she owns the place, "It's dusk somewhere, right?" and orders a round for you and her.

As you get settled down, and have a few sips, you hear her laugh like shes at least a decade younger, "Ahahaha! Don't you know what you've done - you dummy! You and your little gang of friends are the whole talk of the town! You saved the children, you stopped the bad guys, got the g..." she stops herself again, "...got the muggafun! How do you like being the talk of the town?"

...

The priest sighs deeply, "What do you know of what brought your cousin to this town? It hasn't been an easy road for Audrahni, she has lost too much. It is not my story to tell, and i am bound by the confessional to hold my tongue." He begins to dress her wounded leg once more, the swelling beginnig to become more visible now. He looks around, making sure there are no ears around, "Why are you here, my child. How come your cousin has become so distant from you?" It sounds like he is keen to hear your side of the story.

...

As Maddie wanders around the quiet town of Roderic's Cove - the spaces between the buildings seem more narrow and quiet. You know now, that the feeling you've had - of this place being not quite right - is becuase this world is not unlike your own. The many similaries, and nesslted inbetween the various differences which now become more obvious the more time you spend here and take it all in.

Moving past your house, you wonder, is there another me, in this world?. After a moment, you watch the front door swing open, and a blink of hope and excitmenet skips around in your mind. A young woman, with long brown hair extending halfway down her back, with beautiful hazel eyes steps outside and locks the door behind her. She is old enough to be your mother, perhaps, but alas, she is not someone you recognise. She stops at the foot of the small rickety stairs leading down the path, and smiles, "Well hello there, little lady? Can i help you with something?"

...

The older dwarf, Noblemaul, makes a sour face, "Greedings lad! We dwarfs here everything that goes on around 'is weeee town! Don't ya worry ya weeeee head!"

The female smacks him heavily over his large head, and apologises, "Don't listen to him, 'ergus! This town's always giving him the willies! Especially those earth-'remmors! They got pretty bad today. What 'ere ya usin' down there? Dynamite?"

"Aya, haven't heart tremmors like that since mining out Hollow Mountain! Geeeeez, ye could wake up a Terrasque with that sort'a noise!" The younger Flintglow makes a surprising comment, and finishes his drink.

Remy smiles and sips her drink. "Honestly, it feels good to have helped solve the town's troubles. Ever since I was a little boy, when the heroes of Sandpoint fended off an attack by giants and dragons, I've wanted to be a hero. Now I'm finally getting my chance. I did what I did because it was the right thing to do, but I won't lie and say that I'm not enjoying the attention and accolades. This is just the start, though. Pretty soon we'll be leaving Roderic's Cove to follow up on leads we discovered in the ruins below."

She looks in Lullaby's eyes, then, and reaches across the table to grasp her hands. "Will you come with us?"

While the others are celebrating, Flik is pensive. It's good we saved the children, but the implications of this are very troubling.

When the group gets back together, Flik will tell them what he knows about Hollow Mountain.

"Based on what we've seen so far. I think someone has activated the Forges of Wrath, a Thassilonian ruin inside Rivenrake Island--the place that some people call Hollow Mountain. Sailors and explorers claim that the ruin is filled with secret caves and horrible monsters."

Lullaby looks pecurely at you as you begin speaking, "Did you just say, little boy?" She nods along, reluctantly, "Just don't let all the attention get to your head! Right thing to do .. ha! It's like you were meant to do this, hero business."

She turns, a worried look swaying across her face, "Everyone has heard of the hero's of Sandpoint! Do you think what happened then, and now is connected? All this Thassilon stuff? Surely it can't be a coincidence!"

When your hands touch, she looks down at your hands, then back at you, and back at your hands. Her gaze is wanting, but also a little hesitant - yet, she keeps her hands in place and doesn't pull away. "I would slow you down. Besides, I am no hero! Why do you ask, did you want me there with you?"

The priest laughs, "Ah! You elves are all the same, your youth is this worlds greatest mystery!" His face turn solemn and grim, "So you know nothing of what happened after she left - Irespan? Her mother and father and rest of those traveling with her were slain by a warband. Audrahni fled and survived, but she was never the same since. I fear, those scars are still haunting her since."

The dwarves invite Fergus for a drink, and to tell some old stories from their mining days. "You know, it's n'ot eas' getting a mining permit ta get to Rivenrake Island! Ayy, ya gotta even convince the Sihedran' Counsil for permission! Man, took us nearly a decade to get access to those mines!" They tell a few more stories, but one of the triplets points something out, "You okay there, lad! Any'thin on ye 'ind? Look's like you've seen a ghost!"

Maddie is able to fairly easily fasion together a makeshift leather holder for the gems they have collected. A mostly fashionable piece of equipment she can wear, that is light and flexible around her short body. She find a nice quiet part of town, surrounded by nature to sit and work on a headband of intelligence she knows will only make her smarter! What are you keying the skill to?

Eventually, Flik gathers you all back to Cove Hall to discuss the events which have transpired, and what the next points of action might be. The day has come and gone, and most of the injured children have been reunited with their parents. The guard presence has also lessened, as they are more involved now with doing their own investigations on the Underflume. Captain Julit makes a passing comment as she declares the investigation on it's way, "I don't think many of us knew that this town was built over the top of some ancient ruins! My guard have a lot of work to do! We won't leave any stone unturned! Was there any record of this in the archives - perhaps in one of Sir Roderic's old journals?"

No one is going to question why the girls all looked like Maddie? Haha!

Larenza listens to your version of the story very carefully, and finally comments, "It seems that Roderic has some explaining to do!" she jokes before becoming serious. "What you found, beneath our quiet little town, is quite troubling indeed. I regret that we never explored the archives fully, but I am sure we might find more clues to this towns origin if we dig far enough." She speaks about the matter at hand, "It seems like that monster, Mozamer, was trying to open up a portal beneath my town. Flik, If that portal leads to the Forges of Wrath, we must find a way to stop it! Do you know how we close the portal from this end for good?"

She let's you ponder on the questions, and then throws another curveball into the conversation, "Oh my, I nearly forgot! And what about the Sin-Sword of Pride you were going to look for! What happened with the Order of Resplendence. Did you find Corstela?"

Remy smirks at Lullaby's puzzled expression. "You were there the other night when I told the story of how I ended up in this body. Perhaps you had too much drink to remember?"

She nods thoughtfully. "It can't be a coincidence. The dangers in Sandpoint began when one runelord awoke from his slumber. Now it seems at least one, if not several, others have begun to stir. All of Varisia will be in danger if we can't get to the bottom of what is happening."

Her gaze softens at Lullaby's hesitation. "Of course I want you with me! I care about you, Lullaby. You may not think yourself a hero, but the potential to become one exists in all of us. Perhaps being around us will inspire you. And if not... Well, just being with you is enough to make me happy."

Remy listens to Flik recount the story and what the town's leaders have to say. "I don't think the portal can be closed from here. But if that monster--and the other version of him--came from Hollow Mountain, then that is where we must go to put an end to the danger.

"As for the Order, we came to an uneasy accord with Corstela. She still has possession of the Sword of Pride, but I think it might be best if we can convince her to surrender it. It needs to be placed somewhere safe where it can't influence anybody."

Lullaby looks even more puzzled, "Drunk? Me? Hah, i'm just intoxicated, by you. Ha!" She very quickly changes subject, "Someday, those legends will be about you Remy, and your friends. I am a thief by nature, I have a lot of good to catch up on. See what the others in your group think first, I have a feeling they don't all share your views about me." She orders another drink, and flicks a glace towards some gambling going in a corner of the inn.

Alustria ponders about all the things she still has unanswered, and wonders about what questions she still might have to ask once her cousin is awake. A good of a time, as any, to work on the sowing she has to do.

"Ye cousin? Eh, what did ye say your clan 'as? Ha - I told you he was an Ironbeard! Even looks like one too!" One of the dwarfs exclaims loudly, enough to turn some heads. "Who you tryin' ta fool!"

Remy watches Lullaby go off to gamble. The carefree rogue's personality is a far cry from the monk's structured code of honor, but perhaps that's why she finds her so intriguing. Opposites attract, after all, and Remy is serious about trying to help Lullaby walk a better path in life.

Later, after the meeting with Larenza and Captain Julit, Remy broaches the subject with her companions. "I would like to invite Lullaby along with us once we leave Roderic's Cove. I know she was our adversary when we first met, but I think she really wants to turn her life around now. I want to know what you all think of her. If you think her presence will cause friction or strife, then I won't press the issue."

Father Desil speaks up in concern, "Hollow Mountain? Are you positive? Even the Gravemother dare not tread on that island. Are you sure you are ready to go to such a place?"

The leader of the town, looks stunned, "Let's not make such wild, assumptions, shall we, Remy? What happened with Karzoug the Claimer was a rarity. This could be the work of a cult, or some other radical group trying to collect dangerous artefacts! I hear the Pathfinder Society out of Absalom are always risking their lives for magical artefacts like that. What makes you believe that this is any different?"

Any other facts, you can recall to help convince the leaders of this town to invest in this crazy plot?

Suddenly, the front doors swing wide open, and a gust of cold evening air flows throughout the room. As if summoned by the monk, Corstela wanders into the halls. She is accompanied by two of her philosophers, and Dolland. She speaks loud enough for her voice to echo through the hall, but with a soft tone, "Well done on defeating the wrathspawn. You have done this small town a great service, heros." She does a small courtesy, "I heard you were looking for me. Well here I am."

She does not seem to be brandishing any weapons, as he green cloak conceals most of her gear underneath. The mage looks at each of you individually, holding her gaze for a few movements before moving onto the next person. She seems to be studying you, and your intentions.

"The sinspawn, Mozamer. He spoke of Alaznist as if the runelord was awake and active. We need to at least confirm if he spoke truly or not," Remy tells Larenza.

When Corstela and Dolland arrive, the monk shakes her head sadly. "We lost the gauntlets--or rather, they were taken from us. Without them, I'm afraid the Sword of Greed is too dangerous to stay in your possession." She rises up to her full height and stares intently at Corstela. "For your safety and those around you, you need to hand it over. We won't take 'no' for an answer."

To Remy:

Alustria beams are the suggestion. ”Of course she can come! Goodness prospers most when it’s seeds are sewn in evil soil, but sprout anyway. Those fruits are most beloved by the gods.” Then she sits back in her chair. ”And it would make you happy, too.”

Later:
“This doesn’t have to be a problem, Corstela, does it? No one wants to be enthralled by an artifact, driving them to kill.”

As is often the case, Alustria just doesn’t know how to talk to people.

"Is that how it's going to be?" Corestala sighs, placing a hand on her hip. "I guess it is what it is." As she goes for to reach for something on her waist, the rest of your muscles tense, expecting a fight. After a moment, she takes out a small sheet wrapped around something long and slender. "I have noticed it's lingering effects on my psyche. So I understand what you mean, when you talk about the danger it posses."

She waits for you to all take in the moment, before continuing, "You can have Baraket on one condition. I am to acompany you to Rivenrake Island, and will be allowed to study the Thassilonian ruins and artifacts you find within Hollow Mountain. I have come too far as a student of Varisia history to give this opportunity up."

After the meeting...

Seeing as nobody else offers protest to the idea of Lullaby accompanying them, Remy seeks out the bard to tell her the good news.

Apologies for the lack of posts, getting my ass handed to me at work right now...

As a group, you decide that taking the help from the scholar would only help in your journey, and wisely so. Corstala raises her hand, and flushes it forward, allowing the her two guards to move forward. From under their robes, they take out a few bags of gold, and hand them to the party. "No good expedition is anything without the funds. Inside these bags you will find 1,000 gold each - my thanks for saving our town, and allowing me to come with you. I was going to use these as a bribe, but you have already welcomes me on board."

In this moment, Audrahni wakes in a cold sweat, with a chilled sceam. "Eeeeeaaah! He...eh...eh..." She sits up, eyes wide open staring at the group. "We must go... we must go to Hollow...to Hollow...Baraket...we must take the weapon to Magnimar..." After a few movements, she catches her breathe and continues, "The weapon is not safe here. They know it's whereabouts. The Sihedron Council is made of the region’s foremost experts in dealing with dangerous Thassilonian elements such as the weapon. We need...we need their help."

Costrstela raises her eyebrow at towards the pale elf, "She speaks reason. I am a little ashamed that I did not think of that myself. I know some who sit on the Council, in my many journeys as a scholar." She begins to hide the weapon - Baraket under her dress, "Is, is she okay?"

You are allowed a few movements, to teld to the snow elf and her hysteria. The room is a little more quiet, as they are really unsure of what to think about all this. Larenza breaks the silence, "Old Thassilonian weapons, Runelords, and six heroes. Sounds like a tale out of an old bard song." She nudges Flik with her elbow, jokingly. "I guess it is settled then. I have a friend, Sursha Antefalle - her ship is scheduled to arrive at the Cove tomorrow at dawn. If you would like, I am happy to organise passage for you, and whoever else you wish to bring along aboard Tyalee’s Whim south to where you need to go. This would be the least I could do to help."

Alrighty, are we all ready to move on with the next part of our journey? I can see everyone is levelled up. I would make any final purchases you wish to make in Roderic Cove, and then we will set out!

As the meeting comes to it's conclusion, the party decides to retire for the night. Remy makes her way, excitedly, back towards the tavern. Walking inside, the celebrations are still loud and obnoxious, as the townsfolk drink, dance and sing. You can feel the positive energy in this small hall.

Scanning around the room, the bard is nowhere to be seen. A halfling, is hard at work, making good use of the time given to him by the absence of the master gambler to swindle some lost silver. Instinctually, you make your way upstairs, past a few drunken men and women crowning the hallways to the upper floor. You beeline for the room, you remember waking up in a few nights ago. As you go to knock, your hand doesn't even touch the wood, as a cold draft slams the door open. The room where Lullaby was staying in town for, the last few nights, is completely empty. The bed is neatly made, the dresser stowed up against the lonely book case. The window is open, as the wind causes the single candle to flicker. The candle has been lit for a while, evident by the amount of wax collected at its stem - around a small note. "Remy, I am glad you have found your purpose. Now it is time for me to find mine. I hope you understand. -L"

Edit-Sorry Remy, for the ninja post.

No problem, deleted my old post and revamped it. Remy will purchase a cloak of resistance +1 with the money. Other than that, she's ready to go.

Remy's face falls when she enters the room to find Lullaby has gone. She reads the note then sits heavily on the bed. "Oh, Lullaby," she says softly, gazing out the window. "May the gods watch over you." The monk wipes away a few tears before heading back to her own quarters to rest for the coming journey.

You spend the next few days finishing up whatever left over business you have in town, making some final purchases and completing any projects you have been working on. Alustria does her best to help her cousin recover and get Audrahni back on her feet. The rest of your prepare for a long journey south.

Please roll 2 day work of craft checks, if you chose to work on the items over that period of time.

18 Rova, 4718 AR

As dawn rises, Audrahni meets you outside of Creekside to take you down to the town's docks. She looks a little better, obviously fighting agasint the fatigue of her body, "Is all that stuff really necessary, Corstela?"

The scholar arrives with half a caravan of supplies, tugged along by a few philosopher monks of her order. "I thought you also dabbled in ancient studies, Audrahni. What are you brining with you on the journey?"

Before the elf can answer question, a chill fills the air as the ghost of Sir Roderic suddenly appears once more. This time, though, he is almost calm and demeanor and appearance. He heaves a sigh of relief. "And so my Cove is safe once again. Safer than it has been in years. You have done me a service, heroes, and by claiming this Sword of Sin you have removed an unsightly legacy from my home and my Cove. If you but take this cursed weapon away from the Cove, I will at last be able to rest, knowing my legacy will endure. Thank you, heroes, for bringing peace to an old man..."

With this, the ghost fades away, Sir Roderic's spirit at last departing for his long-delayed reward in the afterlife.

The elf smiles, looking towards a friend of hers, Sursha Antefalle, accompanied by Larenza who walks down towards the group. The half-elf has agreed to grant you passage to Magnimar aboard her ship, Tyalee's Whim. The two-masted brigantine rises out of the early morning fog, and nearly two dozen sailors flit about, overseeing the loading of a half dozen nervous cows into the ship's hold. A bearded half-orc directs the crew.

"Hello, Sursha," Audrahni says. "It's been a while."

"Too long!" Sursha agrees. "We have some catching up to do." She turns to you then, giving you each an appraising look. "Welcome aboard, friends. I'm sure Larenza told you that your free passage comes with the caveat that you'll assist in crewing the ship, should the need arise. I'll have my sailors escort you to your quarters so you can get settled in. And of course, you're all invited to my table to share dinner at the customary captain's supper later this evening!"

As you walk and get to the ship, you can see multiple orcs working hard to load the cargo. You also notice a number of passengers begin to board the ship.

DC 16 Perception:
You can see a pale, thin man boarding the ship. He fusses with a large reinforced crate drawn up to the ship by a straining draft horse. Another last-minute arrival is a beautiful, full-figured woman clad in an artfully lacquered lamellar cuirass, attended by a drab halfling woman with an eye patch and a frown on her face.

I have set up all of the maps, and am slowly updating the NPC's slide so you can take a look at everyone! I will have them done eventually!

Remy bows as the spirit of Sir Roderic goes on to his final rest, glad that he has finally found the peace he deserves. She repeats the gesture to Captain Sursha. "Thank you for your hospitality. Of course, we will do what is necessary to help your crew in thanks for your generosity. I look forward to speaking with you further at dinner."

The monk shoulders her pack of meager possessions as she boards the ship. The bustle of activity is a lot to take in, and she watches the crew with fascination, paying little heed to the other passengers who are boarding.

As the group explores, the half-orc overseeing the sailors approaches then. However, he bangs his shin against a crate as he gets close, eliciting a yelp of pain and a string of curses. He smiles, revealing a his toothy grin. "Oof! Apologies, there, I've always been a bit accident-prone. Name's 'Elbows' Eddi, first mate. The decks are busy with work. Sursha is in the middle of ordering her men to weigh anchor and hoist the sails - conducting the final preparations before they set sail.

Behind you on the ship, you hear a disgruntled tone, "Come along, Corla! Put some back into it - my bags aren't going to carry themselves!" the woman scolds a halfling. DC 15 Local:
Viralane is an actress of some renown whose operatic performances are known throughout the western and southern coastlines of Avistan, although she hasn’t performed much lately (according to rumor, she’s been preparing for a huge but still secret role).
