I think waiting in the office to prep real fast is fair if we're allowed to.

Durest checks over his gear while the rest of the troupe see's to their own preparations. "With luck we kin' end this n' get these two help afore they're too far gone."

When they all move onward Durest keeps his Axe at hand instead of his rifle, but he keeps the rifle loaded with an alchemical shot just in case.

Yes. I did not mean to push the party along or make assumptions about where the party was going next. I saw that all of the tokens on the Map had been moved to the door to another room, so I assumed that everyone was ready to go.

Am I correct that the party is planning to head into the northernmost room?

A long hallway leads to this grand hall, wherein the Blakros Museum shows off its finest collections. Mock vines cling to the walls and hang from the fifty-foot-high domed ceiling, and huts of grass are strewn about the open area.

At the center of this sprawling chamber, a miniature replica of a traditional Mwangi ziggurat rises out of the mist to a height of nearly twenty feet. At the top of the ziggurat, a rail-thin elven gentleman is strapped to an altar, his bare chest painted with strange sigils and monkey paw-shaped blots of paint.

Bands of savage primates are snarling, spitting, and cavorting madly about the ziggurat. Nearly two dozen apes, baboons, and other monkeys appear engaged in some sort of maniacal revelry. A small, wooden idol scurries among the yowling primates before it disappears from view amidst jumping, moving tails and furry limbs.

Picture of idol revealed on Slides. Its last seen location indicated by the green token on the map.

Suddenly, a terrifying howl shatters the revelry, causing the primates to scatter into the mists as they make way for a large ape that lumbers forward from behind the ziggurat. The apes, baboons, and other monkey cohorts begin to scream and pound museum objects on the flagstone floor and on marbled walls of the room, as if under the sway of some enchantment. Their calls and hollers merge into what sounds like a single, repetitive chant, ”Da’Tunga. Da’Tunga. Da’Tunga. Da’Tunga”

The audience of primates are on the Map, but it does not attack and will flee if approached. They do not impede movement. The yellow circles on the Map are small, grass huts. They stand two to three feet tall, but readily collapse if disturbed. They do not impede movement or provide cover as projectiles move through them readily.

In response, the imposing ape beats its chest with mighty fists in time with rhythmic calls, then it begins moving towards you!

The bare-chested, elven man bound on the ziggurat lets out a primal scream as the bonds pull on his limbs.

Picture of the ape is on Slides.

Durest looks around at the various monkeys dancing and howling their combat chant before the largest of their kind joined the fray as their true combatant. The dwarf's axe fails to connect with the agile ape.

Atop the ziggurat, the elven man joins the chants of,"Da'Tunga!"

Zepherein:
Da'Tunga is a gorilla, although one who appears as though his hide has been enhanced by supernatural power.
It does not appear to have any attacks other than its two, slamming fists. It does not appear to have any special resistances to elements or damage. Its natural armor seems to have been enhanced through supernatural means. In this tier, its pretty much just an ape.

But I'm ok with just shooting the gorilla instead.

The leshy embeds an arrow in the chest of the gorilla, which beats his chest angrily in response. Unable to reach the archer, the simian foe looks for another opponent to beat upon.

The idol was on the ground among the legs of the gorilla, so I applied the shot to the gorilla.

Also, not sure what happened to the idol icon, but I have restored the picture and placed it within a green border.

The planty-Pathfinder's pleas fall on deaf no ears as they hold her fast to the floor.

The choir of primates hoot and holler as does the bound man atop the zigguarat. These creatures pose no immediate danger and are little more than an idle threat.

Yet, a true, idol threat still remains.

The spiked-head of the cleric's Morningstar strikes hard against the wooden idol. With a loud--K-k-krack!--the metal weapon tears through the construct, sending a rain of splinters into the air!

A momentary, gloomy silence suddenly falls over the room. The howling, screaming primates lining the floor and walls of the room all stand stunned, mouths agape, but silent in the mist-filled air.

The quiet is fleeting, however, as the simian host next erupts into a ball of chaos and confusion as collection of primates--as if now freed from a mad embrace--begin to frantically search for some means of exit and escape from the room and the from the confines of the stone building itself.

The mists,, too, that once infested the whole of the museum begin to dissipate and vanish as well.

COMBAT OVER!

Amidst the disorientation brought upon by the fleeing apes and monkeys, comes a cry from atop the ziggurat. "What devilry?" cries the voice of the elven man bound atop it.

After the primates have vacated the area, and the danger seems to have passed, Danira takes a deep breath, looking down at her morningstar. She smiles, then loops it back on her belt.

She begins to climb the ziggurat to untie the man. "Devilry or demons, who knows. All that matters is that it is over."

Battle for the Bulwark | Table | SFS 1-05 Sloughscar Summit |

"Over? Yes, let us hope so." notes the elven man as he works to help remove his bonds. Once freed, he rubs his hand across his bare chest, smearing the strange sigils and monkey paw-shaped blots of paint that had until now adorned it. The look on his face indicates no small amount of confusion as to what the symbols meant and how they had gotten there.

"My name is Nigel. I am the curator here at the Blakros Museum." the man explains. "It is most fortunate that you have come, whoever you are."

"I am still not entirely sure what has happened." notes the curator. [b]"I had been taking stock of the pieces in storage in the East Exhibit storage room, when suddenly the room was filled with a strange mist. I was beset by what must have been a host of mad, slavering apes and monkeys. Where they had all come from, I don't know. Attracted here by the mist, I'd wager. Who knows what other creatures have been drawn here? We'd best make sure they not remain."

"I'd have Maldroog and Sheg handled this matter, but last when last I had seen Maldroog, at least, it appeared as if he had succumbed to the primal influence of the mist." Nigel ponders aloud. "The scribes would have been here too, when the mists arrived."

Nigel pauses for a moment, rubbing his wrists where he had been tied, then continues. "I am very appreciative of your aid, whoever you are. But, this ordeal has weakened me considerably. May I ask that you check on the well-being of whoever may remain here of my staff? And also, as you look rather capable, would you please make sure that the museum is free of any further beasts or other intruders?"

"Really great swing! Can you please detect magic to check if there is anything we can use to continue our search?"

Battle for the Bulwark | Table | SFS 1-05 Sloughscar Summit |

"Pathfinders, eh?" Nigel sighs. "Well, I am incredibly grateful for this rescue nevertheless."

"Indeed, I would like to do more than merely verbally express my gratitude." he continues. "In the storage room, you will find arare weapon from my own personal collection. It is an incredibly ancient Mwangi spear that Chelish explorers found near the colony of Sargava during the reign of the expansionist Chelish prince, Haliad I. It would be worth a great deal to the Pathfinder Society and I suspect that they’d hungrily pay to include it in their collection. It is yours. A gift of appreciation. From me to you."

"The bejeweled spear is quite well-crafted and sports brittle, white bird feathers tied with crumbling leather straps beneath the still-sharp spearhead." Nigel explains. "If you sell it to the Society, don't except anything less than 750 gold pieces."

"Also, you may have this." he says, reaching for an item from a nearby shelf. "I believe this magial item to be of special significance to Pathfinders, such as yourselves. It is an ioun stone, which you undoubtedly know can be placed within a wayfinder to create fantastic magical effects. Sadly, my inferior stones are not capable of such resonance."
Item is a cracked mulberry pentacle ioun stone.

Other than, possibly the splintered remains of the Tik Taan, which may be of interest to a certain Chelish paracountess with her own desires to drive men mad, there are no other items of interest in this room.

Knowledge (arcana) (DC 11+) re curse of the Tik Taan:
The Tik Taan bestowed a primeval curse upon Tabar. This effect can be removed by remove curse or by eating a goodberry.
