Drask Umbra |
Ignore my previous post, I didn't realize all of the boggards dropped.
With the little ones out of his way, Drask charges the big one, snarling and bringing his axe down!
Attack (Charge, PA): 1d20 + 12 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (8) + 12 + 2 - 2 = 20
Damage (PA): 1d8 + 6 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 + 6 = 18
AC is 16 this round due to charging. Note that Drask now has two mirror images.
Mokhasi Kpu'unde |
Mokhasi shakes his head at the aggressive and belligerent boggard, and moves up, directing missiles of force towards him.

GM Dak |
While the others try to get up to the fight and Vel can barely see, Mok unleashes several balls of force that slam into the bigger boggard. Drask charges forward to fight the creature, landing a serious blow, though it is clear this brute of a boggard can take the beating still more than capable of fighting and fight he does.
He first tries to bite Drask, then bash him with a nice looking warhammer he is gripping with both hands.

He nearly bites Drask in the neck, if it were Drask, but it is one of his images which disappear upon being hit. However, he does smash his warhammer into Drask with a solid thump.
Group is up!
Sapher Mornshire |
Seeing Drask take a solid THUD of a hammer, Sapher stops trying to defend and simply charges the boggart.

Drask Umbra |
Drask inhales sharply, adrenaline spiking. This boggard was not to be taken lightly. His pupils dilate and his brows furrow, and the rain of blows come down!

Damn Caroliss, bit of luck did work that turn.
Esrisi Derexhi |
Esrisi moves up to throw a fist, but trips on a body and stumbles.
UAS: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8 Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Caroliss Kaddren |
Caroliss surveys the scene of carnage around her, and then realizes that one of her companions is having a harder time doing that. "You have human eyes now, Vel. It's why you can't see as well in the dark.". She brings her light closer to Vel so that Vel has a better view.
Sapher Mornshire |
Sapher comes up to Drask, "Can I heal you?" asking permission as she always does When I can remember that she would, I mean. If he expects it, she presses her hand on his arm and prays to her goddess softly (and in dwarven) letting the warm hug like energy enter him.
clw: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
clw: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
"All better?"
Sapher Mornshire |
"I don't love the idea of more boggart killing, no matter how justified, so maybe we just can just explore this place a bit?" if the others agree, Sapher will lead the way up the northern tunnel.
GM Dak |
Among the dead bodies you find the beefy boggard had masterwork hide armor and a +1 warhammer. The others had among them 800 cp, 420 sp, 150 gp, 35 agates worth 350 gp in all, nine bloodstones worth 450 gp in all, two violet garnets worth 500 gp each, and a necklace made of platinum links worth 900 gp.
Esrisi Derexhi |
"I'm with you Sapher, I did not enjoy that. If we can refrain from more killing, I think it is the best path forward." the oracle says to the dwarf with a firm nod.
Caroliss Kaddren |
"I promise I didn't start it!" says Caroliss, picking out the surprisingly valuable gemstones and items. She takes the boggard's warhammer, inspects it, and then hands it to Sapher. "It's magically enhanced--I think you might find it pretty effective. I know Drask did . . ."
GM Dak |
Heading deeper into the cavern you find that it begins to start narrowing to a tunnel that continues on for some way and eventually leads you back to the room with the broken statue and all the little bugs all over. Seems like this was one of the other passages you had not taken earlier.
Sapher Mornshire |
Sapher hefts the hammer, "Not dwarven made but it will do the job I guess. Thank you Caroliss." she smiles at the half-elf, sheathing her own hammer in favor for the magical one.
---
At the statue, "I hope no more of the big ones have come to check in on us.
Continue on?" she doesn't see the need to go back to the boggarts.
Sapher Mornshire |
Sapher nods, waits a few moments to make sure no one objects and then moves forward, keeping an eye out for traps and an ear out for things that want to kill us.
perception: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (17) + 12 = 29
GM Dak |
Sapher leads the group through the bug room and down the last unexplored tunnel. After a good deal of walking once again and plenty of empty, damp tunnels she spots something ahead. The chamber ahead is filled with all manner of strangely colored fungal growths.
Map updated.
Mokhasi Kpu'unde |
Mokhasi peers at it, and sees nothing out of the ordinary. "This fungus is very dense and plentiful, but does not appear to be obviously harmful. We may pass," Mokhasi says with confidence. "Of course, cave fungus is plentiful in the dark reaches of the world. Perhaps some of this is edible."
Caroliss Kaddren |
Caroliss peers ahead suspiciously. "Ugh, fungus. Another reason not to like caves! Let's just hope none of this fungus comes to life or anything." She conjures Dancing Lights and keeps Message active among the party.
She notices how Veltariel is forced to stay close. "It'll probably take some getting used to, but humans obviously do just fine with their eyes."
Mokhasi Kpu'unde |
Mokhasi nods, "yes, and our friends Drask and Sapher have even better vision than elven. We could get you some magical augmentation if you remain frustrated."
GM Dak |
Sapher leads the group forward as Mok gives the ok, but as soon as she reaches the fungus she is surprised when hiding behind some other larger varieties several of the fungi come to life to attack, two on Drask and two on Sapher.

Drask Umbra |
Drask is caught completely off guard, his images torn away in seconds. He frowns, looking at the creatures. "Rude." Then he smashes them.

Rage. Drask will focus on the one to the right of him, directing all attacks at it until it is dead (don't forget the +1 for FtF if it applies). If that one dies and he still has attacks, he will attack the one just below him.
Caroliss Kaddren |
"Didn't I call it?" says Caroliss as the fungus comes to life. Caroliss creates another image of Drask, along with some luck! (For use next round.)
Bit of Luck and Copycat on Drask.
GM Dak |
I was so excited to surprise you all I forgot to add something.
Earlier
Sapher notes as she turns the corner, just as the fungi attack, that the tunnel turns to the west and opens into a larger cavern, but the way is blocked by a makeshift wooden fence.
Now
Drask, after three blows slices up the one fungus that attacked him and then proceeds to bite the one to his south, as he does he instantly taste the bitter sting of poison in his mouth.
Drask needs a fort save DC15 to avoid the following:
Str Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3
Con Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3
The remaining violet fungi lash out once again. Two on Drask and one on Sapher.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17

The one Drask took a bite out of slashes at him but hits the image Caroliss created, however with no images left to protect him the other one manages to land a blow.
Another fort save DC15 to avoid the following:
Str Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 2
Con Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 4
Sapher manages to deflect all the attacks coming at her, one just barely, but remains unharmed.
Group is up, Drask/Caroliss at the end after everyone else. If someone wants to bot Es since she noted she was away, feel free.
Mokhasi Kpu'unde |
Mokhasi blinks at the violet assault, and begins to summon a helpful friend.
Summon monster II! Since I'm botting Isabella, I'll let someone else handle Esrisi.
Drask Umbra |

Drask throws off whatever natural poisons they have, in no small part thanks to the rage of his brother. Then he continues on the one to the south of him!

2nd Primary Axe Attack (Rage, FtF, PA): 1d20 + 6 + 2 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (16) + 6 + 2 + 1 - 2 = 23
2nd Primary Axe Damage (Rage, PA): 1d8 + 4 + 2 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 + 2 + 4 = 14
And I'll pass on the bite :)

Caroliss favors everyone with an Inspiring Prediction before moving away form the battle. +4 luck bonus to everyone's next save or attack, this will come into play on your next turn (or if you're poisoned by a fungus).
Sapher Mornshire |
"Don't Bite---" she suggests loudly to Drask, but it is way too late. Shaking her head she concentrates on the fungus in front of her, pouring her goddesses love into the hammer, the love for it to stop breathing and stop trying to kill her!
Then she side smashes its... head?

One of the things attacks manages to hit Sapher doing some damage, but worse, poisoning her.
Sapher needs a fort save DC15 to avoid the following:

Con Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 2
With only the one left, the group has no problems finishing it off.

Mokhasi Kpu'unde |
Mokhasi blinks, and keeps his elemental around for as long as he can.
"The poison did not harm anyone? Let us move quickly, Maurice here remains with us for a few moments more. Perhaps there will be foes he can help with."
Move into the next cave/room quickly?
Sapher Mornshire |
poison save: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (8) + 14 = 22
"I'm fine" Sapher says as she brushes off the fungus from the place where it had slammed into her. "I need more armor I think, not used to things getting through." she says more to herself than anyone. "All ready." and if there are no objections she moves forward into the next room.
Caroliss Kaddren |
"Ugh, why do I get the feeling we'll end up in some wet and moldy dead end?"
Caroliss takes a look at the wounds on Sapher and Drask and decides to save her healing magics for now. Reluctantly, she follows along with the group.
GM Dak |
Sapher leads the group forward, breaking down the little wooden gate and heading to the south. A large boulder clogs up the hall where it now splits to the east and west. To the west it looks like the hall continues south for a bit before splitting east and west again. To the east the halls leads south but there is a room off to the east and Sapher can see a couple of mud nests on the outskirts of that eastern room, she also hears what sounds like creatures arguing in a strange tongue from that direction.
Esrisi Derexhi |
Thanks for the bot, Caroliss!
Esrisi follows along with her friend, agreeing with her "I have the same feeling."
When she says there are creatures talking, she asks "What are they saying?"
Sapher Mornshire |
"I don't know." the dwarf admits with a frown.

Caroliss Kaddren |
"Shh, I'm trying to listen here!" hisses Caroliss. For a few moments, she leans in with one ear to listen to the conversation before turning back to the others.
"It's some kind of argument, about whether it's better to stay here under Uggilo’s protection or whether they should abandon the cave and flee east into the Mushfens to start a new tribe. I bet you it's those troglodytes. Maybe we can convince them to leave? I'm sure Mama B would love that we took care of them."
Sapher Mornshire |
Sapher shuts it as requested until Caroliss states the name "Uggilo? Really?"
