Sapher Mornshire |
"That is a very good question" Sapher responds with a mix of worry and curiosity.
Sapher will concentrate her eyes out for traps.

”Who knows, with the way humans tend to build things...” Veltariel mutters as she knocks an arrow in the bowstring in anticipation of more trouble.

GM Dak |
Heading down the stairs you come into a larger sized room. A heavy stone door blocks passage to the west, and an eastern corridor exits between cells blocked by doors of rusty iron bars. Scattered about the room are a number of instruments of torture from bygone days, now mostly gone to rot and ruin. In the northern cell there seems to be something moving.
Esrisi Derexhi |
Caroliss peers down warily. "So, what do you suppose lies deeper than the dungeons?"
Esrisi leans in to Caroliss and responds "Who knows? Maybe we'll find Veltariel's heart down there?"
Esrisi takes note of the creature moving ahead and tries to see what it is and look out for other signs of trouble.
Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30
Caroliss Kaddren |
"Ooh, burn . . ." replies an amused Caroliss under her breath.
"Could be more spiders in that cell," she states to the group more loudly, and with noticeable anxiety.
Sapher Mornshire |
"So under the dungeons are more dungeons, worse ones it seems." turning to Mock and sighs, knowing he is a completist, so she'll do a quick look through the hopefully empty cells, in case Cars is right and spiders doesn't eat anyone's face.
GM Dak |
Es heads over to the cell as Sapher follows behind. As they look inside they see a hideously deformed human looking creature in the corner. When it takes not of their presence it rushes at the bars and tries to lash out at them, but can't reach far enough past the bars. This hairless humanoid lurches on back-bent, dog-like legs, its hideous mouth flanked by tiny arms with three-fingered hands.
Sapher Mornshire |
knowledge dungeon: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
Sapher swears something foul and manages to step back out of the things reach. "A sinspawn? I guess this makes sense. They are embodiment of a particular sin, made by mages of course." she'll pause and look over to their own mage. "No offense meant to you, Mok. And in truth all the really horrible weird things in our world are made by mages... or the gods, I guess so I should stop pointing fingers right?" she's give a slight smile in apology.
"Anyway this shard we are looking for is all about sin, so one of these makes sense being here. Means we are getting close. Hopefully."
Watching the thing trying its best to reach out and get them, she adds softly "Its an abomination. We can't leave it here on the off chance it ever gets free. Vels, would you mind?"
Veltariel Mendrasti |
[ooc]Can we just say I CDG it and leave it at that?[/ooc
”Gladly,” she says with disgust as she steps up and draws back an arrow. She takes her time to pinpoint between its eyes before letting it fly...
CDG: 3d8 + 3 ⇒ (2, 3, 6) + 3 = 14
Mokhasi Kpu'unde |
"Yes, such a thing is animated by magic of the foulest sort. It would take an act of divine intervention to make it see the error of its ways." Mokhasi looks sad that they seem forced to kill a sapient creature.
Caroliss Kaddren |
"Fascinating! But what sin does this one embody?" Caroliss tries to discern the answer any way she can manage.
Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (11) + 11 = 22
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (16) + 11 = 27
Esrisi Derexhi |
Esrisi stumbles backwards when the Sinspawn leaps out at them from behind the bars. She exhibits a total lack of grace as she falls backwards on her bum, tripping over her own two feet.
Climbing back to her feet, she steps aside so Veltariel can finish the creature off. She comments "What is the likelihood we're going to find more of these that aren't behind bars?"
GM Dak |
Sapher would know that this particular type of Sinspawn embodies the sin of wrath. Each type of sinspawn has a slightly different appearnce based on the related sin.
Vel takes her time and lines up a shot putting the creature down with a well place arrow into the head. It slumps against the bars no longer moving.
Caroliss Kaddren |
"Maybe the rest of the spiders and the rest of the sinspawn killed each other off?"
Suspicious of the heavy stone door heading west, Caroliss inspects it carefully looking for traps. Take 20=31.
Sapher Mornshire |
"Wraith" Sapher will answer Cars before moving to the door "I had thought our shard would be sloth, based on the King's statement about making him sleep better, but maybe not..." her thick fingered hand will grasp the doorknob and ask "Ready?"
If no one says otherwise Sapher will open the door
Veltariel Mendrasti |
Still sticking with Caroliss the Light Bringer!
Veltariel readies another arrow and nods to Sapher as she prepares to open the door...
Sapher Mornshire |
Sapher... Opens... The Door.
and the screams of the sinspawn spill over them. The End.
just kidding... hopefully.
GM Dak |
It takes a bit of effort but Sapher eventually manages to push the door open. On the other side is a small, bare room with a hallway leading south that looks to start heading to the west. Following the hallway you eventually come to larger room. This room seems to have once served as a guard barracks, but the beds and other furniture here have long since crumbled into almost unrecognizable ruins. There is a hallway leading to the east and stairs leading down at the south end of the room.
Esrisi Derexhi |
Esrisi comes up to help Sapher with the stubborn door. Once it's open, she pushes forward into the empty room looking for signs of trouble.
Perceptive Oracle: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 29
Sapher Mornshire |
"Thanks Ez." the dwarf says about the door. About the barracks, she'll mention "Normally wouldn't you have barracks before the dungoens?"
She'll stand guard as the oracle looks around (in case spider drop from the ceiling or wererat women are hiding in piles of decaying furniture).
Drask Umbra |
"Not if you're trying to keep something in." Drask says ominously.
Sapher Mornshire |
"That is a disturbing thought, Drask" Sapher agrees though.
Esrisi Derexhi |
Nodding to Mokhasi, Esrisi remarks "Seriously! We are way further down in this thing that I ever could have imagined possible!"
Caroliss Kaddren |
"It's a wonder this place hasn't flooded yet," agrees Caroliss. She's suddenly inspired to look around carefully for both structural defects and spiders (or other things more generally).
Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (3) + 11 = 14
Veltariel Mendrasti |
”Looks all clear. Let’s keep moving,” Veltariel suggests quietly to Caroliss.
Sapher Mornshire |
"I guess we should try and explore this entire level before taking more stairs." Sapher will state while a tone meant to accept arguments against. If there are none, she'll move to the east corridor to explore further. Catching up with Ez, she'll say with a grin "At least one room without spiders. Small positives."
GM Dak |
The group continues into the next room rather than heading downstairs. A damp natural grotto opens up in the earth here, its stone ceiling rising forty feet above. Fat columns of brick support the northern end of the room, and the floor of the southern end has been carved into a low dais upon which stands the moldslick statue of a beautiful woman wielding a ranseur.
As you enter the room you hear a clicking sound from around on of the corners and look just in time to see a creature with large claws and several legs rushing toward you. It seems to match the description of the pet you were sent to find.

Sapher recognizes the creature as a cave fisher. She knows that it can fire a thin filament of sticky silk that can grab hold of its prey and pull it back.
Es doesn't hesistate and moves up to attack the thing landing a solid blow. Vel manages to land one shot but only causes a minor injury. Caroliss moves up to get a better view of the fight and prepares to assist on of her allies when the creature attacks. Sapher joins to the fight, smashing the cave fisher with another solid blow and almost dropping it to the ground.

Even though Drask is slow to get into the fight, his attack is brutal and he puts the creature down with the solid blow before any of the others get a chance to act.
As the creature collapses to the ground you see a small leather pouch is tied tightly to one of the cave fisher’s legs. Inside is another bracer, identical to the one the mite had been wearing on his head as a crown.
Out of combat
Sapher Mornshire |
"Mok, Caroliss? Is this something we should touch?" thinking, but NOT looking at, Ez and the shard of make you super arrogant. Sapher knows a little about magic, though not as much as the others, and thinks...

And I still haven't lost a round of rage. This feat is disgusting.
Drask flings gore from his axe and cleans the rest off with a cloth from his belt. "So, perhaps not a real crown than?" He asks to the others as they spot the bracer tied to its leg.
