Sir Durant takes advantage of the hapless creature and drops it to the ice-tinged flagstone. Despite the awkward angle of attack, Eka smashes into the man's chest with a powerful snap of her bardiche.

Qiroyo steps forward and gives guidance to Altorin. Cyclic and Mange try to strike the man but he leans at the right time to avoid the wolf's jaws. Altorin coats the ground with a fresh layer of ice and the man goes down again, legs flailing.

Sir Durant's strike is less than stellar, as is Belmiir's arrow shot, which flies high and wide into the distant wall.

@Durant - feel free to move if you wish, given that the creature went down, not sure how you want to deal with the ice.

Seeing the downed creatures sprawled in front of him, the man growls from his troubled position. "Groetus sees your misdeeds, now is the time for vengeance!"

With that, a wave of pulsating energy emanates from his curled frame, sinking deep into your bones and aching your flesh.

Not trusting his legs not to go out from under him as he crosses the ice laid down by Altorin, Sir Durant instead decides to move around to strike at the man as he lays prone. "Groetus has abandoned you. As your god would have it, there is no hope for you now." With righteous fury, the knight drives his blade down toward the servant of Groetus.

Move 20ft around the ice, including moving through Cyclic/Mange's space. Can't remember if enemy can take an AoO from prone, but if he can, I provoked one.

Altorin will not pay the burn and will ready an action to slick again if the cultist stands up again (moving the area as needed to keep just him affected.

Eka takes the first swing at the vengeful cleric and plunges deep into his chest. His eyes roll back at that instant and the rest of you circle up to make sure he does not rise again.

Assuming you don't want to outright murder him with all your good rolls.

Upon closer examination, the man is not exactly the one you faced a few short weeks ago, but a very close likeness. You would not be surprised if they were in fact, twin brothers. He is wearing a decent set of half plate (emblazoned with the death head motif) under his tattered tunic and leggings and was carrying the strange skull-tipped heavy flail of Groetus worshipers.

The blue creatures carry only a handful of darts and a dagger in the threaded belt that ties together their meager cloaks.

Examining up the stairs:
The stairs lead to a large hidden closet in a storage warehouse above—that closet has rope and block and tackle for lowering the crates and barrels down into this room. The door at the top of the stairs is ten feet wide. The warehouse is otherwise empty and non-descript.

"Stairs go up, grate goes down, it's all the same to me. But since we are here, let's head up."

After investigating and finding nothing she is ready to go to the grate.

After healing and exploring the desolate warehouse above, the group moves back to the sewer grate near the rat fresco.

Checking carefully for the source of the fire that burned Cyclic and her companion earlier, there is no obvious cause remaining. Eventually the group gathers the guts to open up the grate. Just beyond a small cramped ledge, an opening to a cavern below presents itself. Leaning against the opening and disappearing into the darkness below is a lone ladder.

With no apparent danger beyond, the group proceeds down the ladder, careful to lower a reluctant Mange once again into the underground.

At the bottom of the ladder, for as far as you can see, buildings fill up the cavern, almost as if the cavern formed around them. Most of the buildings appear to be load-bearing --- their rooftops supporting the myriad sewer pipes and granite bedrock that make up the city of Cassomir above. Curiously, they still show signs such as “Butcher Shop” or “Tavern", but the windows are boarded-up and broken furniture and spiderwebs grace the alleyways.

The smooth cavern floor here is quite dirty, with but a few boot-prints heading to the north.

The silence is shattered by the clatter of claws on stone as two huge rats scurry to attack from the alleys as you start your exploration. Mange is able to react enough to avoid the rancid bite, but Eka is not as fortunate.

Cyclic casts bless and puts the wand back in it's resting place. Mange, after all the recent rat trouble, does not even need to be told what to do and throws himself at the rat trying to bit him.

Qiroyo steps out and nails the closest rat with a perfect shot that nearly drops it in its tracks. Cyclic blesses the group once again from atop her mount and Mange instinctively snaps at the rat but only gets fur-tips. The rat responds with a vicious nip to draw blood on the wolf's snout.

Startled and enraged by the sudden attack on her flank, Eka takes a guarded step back and swings at the offending rat with her weapon.

    Belmiir has some trouble finding the mark on the frantic vermin so Altorin ices the alleyway, but the rat proves hard to topple. Sir Durant scrambles forward desperate to draw attention away from the wolf. Qiroyo's arrow skims close but does not harm the rat, nor does Cyclic's awkward turn of spear. Mange however proves a stout foe and flips the rat onto its back with a turn of his formidable jaw. Wriggling on the ground, the vicious rat snaps at Mange's front paw and draws blood again.

    Eka wastes no time in landing a strong blow, which is followed up instinctively by Sir Durant and Belmiir to avenge poor Mange's injuries. As the stout rat breathes its last, Eka can plainly see that the wound looks more dangerous than first anticipated, as brownish goo signals the rat's mouth was particularly filthy. Mange's injuries look just as infected.

    We will deal with those conditions after the scenario.

    As the group gathers its wits, a squeaky voice from further down the "road" screams out something in an unknown language (probably undercommon).

    Mange gives the party his patented 'poor me' look and starts to lick his wounds. Taking pity on the fellow, Cyclic breaks out her wand and starts the healing process.

    This is getting expensive. I never thought of all the healing I would have to do once I got Mange. Poor thing looks pretty beat up.

    Once again Cyclic and Mange take the lead, but not without a backward growwl at the rat that savaged poor Mange. That was just NOT RIGHT. Wolves are supposed to savage rats, not the other way around. His lupine sensitilities are severly challenged and he lets the world know it.

    Cyclic has taken three rounds of actions so far. Going to wait a bit longer today to see if there are any other actions from anyone before moving you all ahead (otherwise Eka - do be careful!)

    There is no other response despite Durant's query and Belmiir cannot quite understand exactly what was said but it had the vague cadence of a warning to others.

    Belmiir shoulders his bow and takes out his odd club (the club looks like a piece of chair leg with a weird butterfly knot of wire holding a spiked board..however the weapon seems perfectly balanced in Belmiir's hands) ,and gives the other's a *wink*:

    Belmiir heft's the strange piece of wood in his hand and says, What this old thing? Just a souvenir I picked up from a dead goblin in the River Kingdoms.. it swings surprisingly good! If asked, Belmiir gleefully hands over the club to anyone who doubts the weapon's balance or ability to be effective..in order for them to take a few practice swings and determine the authenticity of his claims. I call it clanky arm, seems to suit it.

    As Belmiir brandishes his...unique club, she cocks her left brow in curiosity, but says nothing for now. Perhaps after the pressing issues are finished. She hefts her bardiche and strides with her fellow paladin along with the others.

    Satisfied with their healing the group pushes on. At the very edge of Belmiir's darkvision, a large collection of boxes loom into view. Before he can convey that fact, three of the same strange blue creatures (as per the stairway room) step from the alleys. One yells out "Gnimich!" and two of them toss smallish darts from the shadows. A dart hits Sir Durant in the neck, but he is but amused by its lack of lethality. The last creature spends its effort to draw closer.
