and i dunno what else I need to tell or show, i only have like 1 game years ago of AD&D

So far we have an elf theif, priest of Helm, a baby dragon, and three fighters in various stages of building...the Discussion thread is linked to the campaign itself, go read my big old too long posts currently there, lol. We can fine tune over the next couple of days.

@fatmanspencer - you will need to pick up proficiencies and gear. You might want a kit (archetypes, basically).

Very low on magic at the moment. Could be a good way to go for someone looking to grab the sixth slot.

Sovereign Court

Ooo someone might wanna play a mage.

Lol, good timing Jesse.

By the way, this site sucks, but it can be helpful: http://www.purpleworm.org/rules/

It has generic race/class stuff in it, including kits.

I'm building a bladesinger, an elf fighter/mage. So we've got a mage but he's really more like a magus than anything.

2 questions, DM.

1) Will you allow specialization for multiclass fighters and/or paladins and rangers? I always houseruled it to open up specialization to non-single class fighters, but YMMV.

2) Will you allow extra non-combat NWPs for long-lived races, as suggested in the Complete Book of Elves? It basically suggests that races that aren't even adults until humans die of old age might have hobbies, so they may start with 2-3 extra fluffy sorts of NWPs like Dancing, Musical Instrument, or Singing.

Weapon spec is all a single classed fighter has to feel special! So no, maybe if we were fighrer-light and needed the extra boost. I get it can be frustrating for that kit because they're just not very good with anything but their favored weapon, but as I said before, Combat and Tactics Prof stuff is okay. So you can pick up Expertise, as well as fighting styles that work well. Some "feats". There are useful ways to spend those weapon slots.

I don't really want to give out (even fluff) more NWPs since I'm already doing the double bonus langs thing already. Lucky for you, Dancing is free for Bladesingers anyway, lol.

Fair enough. This is what I've got so far. I need to go over the numbers a couple more times and buy him gear.

For a familiar I picked an elven cat, if that's alright with you?

Familiar: Elven cat

I've seen references to elven cats as familiars before, but I can't remember where. I'm willing to allow it, but I think I will require a little more than a starting wizard hand-wave considering how powerful they are at low levels. I will figure out the exact criteria, but at the very least it will require an in-game summoning and some sort of side quest to find specific components to ensure the cat is bound properly.

Edit - and I will give you the find familiar spell for free to make up for the delay. I just feel like a more powerful familiar is worth a little extra gameplay, adventure, and drama.

That works for me, DM. Thanks.

Just discovered this posting! Still got room for one more! Id love to delve into the dusty tomes that are ADND. would be fantastic!!!!

Id be up for playing a human wizard.

1st set
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 3) + 6 = 13
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 2) + 6 = 14
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 4) + 6 = 15
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 3) + 6 = 13
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 3) + 6 = 13
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 1) + 6 = 11

2nd set
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 2) + 6 = 10
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 1) + 6 = 9
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 1) + 6 = 12
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 4) + 6 = 12
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 1) + 6 = 9
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 2) + 6 = 13

wooosh...id be playing a very average wizard...

@RIZZENMAGNUS - Well we might end up with a race then, because there I think six started before your roll above...so folks, if you haven't gotten a mostly done character out yet, might want to hurry.

I'll post a confirmed so far list when I get a chance, just to avoid any confusion about who is ready to roll and who needs a few more details.

Edit - who am I kidding, I can accommodate 7, lol. I just want to encourage folks who have details to finish to wrap them up so we can get rolling.

Dm i just need the kit right?

You can play the basic class with no kit.

Correct, kits are not required, they're really just archetypes. There are some decent ones, there are some real dogs, just like archetypes, lol. Someone mentioned crossbows, the one kit I am aware of was heavily favored by an ex, Dwarven Sharpshooter. I honestly haven't looked at it recently, but I recall it made for a decent crossbow user.

Ready Enough:

mishima's elf rogue
Xenotime the dragon
Davin the priest
karlprosek's bladesinger
Viondar's fighter
Dravana

Need a Little More: (what is needed)
fatmanspencer (weapon and non-weapon proficiencies)
RIZZENMAGNUS (everything but stats, lol)

I should have kept count, lol. I'm officially calling it quits on new submissions. Folks who have rolled are fine, just finish up. Eight does mean adding goons and upping HPs for baddies...

I already have selected the WP and the NWP, I specialized in the longsword. You can see them clicking in the link below my alias name.

Ah, excellent! Thanks, just overlooked the link I guess. And had just enough time to edit the previous post, lol.

** spoiler omitted **...

Hello fellow bladesinger :)

So, when are you actually entering the game? I'm a bit short on fellow elves to be properly extremely racist :D

Anyway, just want to put right some tiny mistakes in your crunch. We use the same rules, so they're kinda apparent to me...

You're using the bladesong fighting style... I read it as if that style is meant for characters who do not have the kit. But it's not written down expressly, so I guess that's up to the DM.

rules quotation:
There are two types of bladesingers: those who learn it as an additional skill (described below), and those who have made it their lives. Those in this second category are known as Bladesingers, and they are described in Chapter Ten.

Anyway, you only have 2 slots in the bladesong style. This gives you a +1, not a +2, to att or defence. You get a +2 when you spend 3 slots.

What you could do, when the DM decides that the bladesong style may not complement the kit, is take 2 slots in the single weapon style. This would give you +2 AC flat.

Also... As far as I can see, you have 3/2 attacks, not 2/1. Expertise gives the same attacks as specialisation, and that's 3/2.

The rules don't say anything about the Bladesinger kit preventing you from taking the fighting style. I understand the quoted section, but the kit doesn't mention any mechanical style, per se. I guess that's in case the DM isn't using the optional proficiency rules from Combat and Tactics. Adding the proficiency rules should make the fighting style available to anyone who wants to take them, unless they're prohibited by RAW, which I don't see.

The part of Bladesong fighting style that says it's a total of 3 slots says that's including the weapon proficiency slot, for a total of 3. "This cost does not include the initial slot devoted to learning rudimentary use of the weapon, so the total cost is three weapon slots." My reading of it is that it's a slot for the fighting style and another slot for an extra +1, which puts it in line with the other fighting styles (one handed, two weapons, etc.).

You're right about the attacks per round. I took the 3/2 from the table and added 1 per round. 3/2 is total.

I didn't know play had already started! I thought we were awaiting approval. I need to make a profile for this guy.

I'll reply in the discussion thread ;)
