Grumbling Magnu undoes the top of his robe and ties it around his waist. He stretches his back grabs a crowbar and pushes.

Mangu's first attempt at lifting the stone is not successful, but after limbering up with some pushups, is able to put more of his back into the task and finally lodge the stone away out of the way. The beetles all rush out of the way, but do not seem to become aggressive from having their home disturbed. The rock is heavy, and causes decades of dust gathered to fly into the air and obscure your vision. After the dust settles, you can see the way forward leads into a collapsed tunnel.

It is dark. What light sources does everyone use?

Rusted picks, shovels, and hammers lie scattered on the ground in this wide cavernous area.

DC 13 Perception:
The broken tools on the ground were abandoned when the mine was closed. They have long since rusted and become useless. You are able to spot an unusual item lying amid the detritus here - a tarnished mithral shovel. Though valuable, it’s damaged and has lost much of its luster, making it worth only 1,500 gp.

Daylin casts a Light spell on his shield and takes a look down the tunnel.

Daylin spots a strange glint coming from the discarded tools, and kneels beside a particular shovel. He scratches at its surface with a fingernail, then touches his finger to his mouth, then raises an eyebrow in mild surprise.

"Mithril." he says. "A valuable thing too find lying forgotten in a cellar."

He then stands again and cautiously makes his way forward.

Daylin makes his way to the northern passage and peers down it.

"This passage looks like a dead end." he says. "Strange. It looks like they were digging for something down here, maybe mining. But apparently they stopped years ago."

He looks back toward the others. "Remind you of anything? That orc and her devils down in the catacombs -- they were down there looking for something. Underground. I wonder if that's a coincidence."

He makes his way to the northeastern tunnel. "Let's keep moving."

Just as a book-keeping thing, I assume Vegazi is still with us, since part of the reason we're doing this is to get her out of town? As long as we're moving ourselves across the map, we should probably account for her presence as well.

And speaking of Vegazi, I feel like we probably should have been having some sort of extensive interactions with her as an NPC since she's central to the mystery of the story, but for whatever reason the previous GM didn't really give us much to work with. I think the role-playing would improve if we could draw her out and get some backstory and character development from her going forward, presuming that we've hopefully started to gain some trust and rapport with her.

Very good tactics guys! I apologise for the short post, bigger update tomorrow. And its a very good idea Daylin, I will get to it! Yes, Vegazi is still with you - I am working on her token - I guess I forgot to put it all together! I will add her when I have time for a bigger post tomorrow!

The tunnel’s walls are rough, naturally formed stone. There are no sources of light anywhere in the caverns. Mangu leads the way into the cavern, but Akaash's keep senses pick up a weakness in the ceiling. You realise that anyone who talks or makes a sound louder than a whisper could triggers a minor cave in. I will highlight this secrion with a white outline when I can.

You find footsteps leading away fomr the cavern to the south, walk into this cave and turn around to head back again. You think that someone might be doing some sort of route, marking or checking on their territory.

The sound of running water echoes from the north east tunnel.

The sound of running water appears to interest Daylin. He checks the ground and confirms that it's dry and solid, and shines his light up the northeast tunnel.

"You hear that? Water." he stage whispers, being careful of the trapped ceiling. "An underground stream perhaps?"

As you get down into the tunnels, as Mangu begins to move the boulder out of the way, Vegazi finally speaks. "I don't think I have said this before, but thank you - for helping the town. I am so sorry for dragging you into this mess." He pauses for a moment, reading your reactions before continuing. "All this, is because of me. You have already met Ogash. I am not surprised she sent him after me first. And I think Ilka was tracking us while we were gathering the townsfolk from around the Stead's borderlands. Hah - I could always smell her from a mile away." She sighs, as the kemsai moves the boulder. "These tunnels, I know them well. We used to play here when we were children, daring each other to get closer to the human town. Let's hope we don't run into any more trouble down here."

She seems to talk hesitantly, trying to make conversation, yet still unsure of how much you already suspect.

The light spell helps to bring some colour to the mostly black and white cavern. Moving ahead, the stench of brackish water fills the air from a small, dark pool in the northeastern corner of this cavernous antechamber. Dripping, coming from a small hole in the stone above the water suggests the water must be coming from a higher source.

A reflective surface inside the water reflects a golden-crimson light as the light washer over the space. The party moves closer to take a look inside the pool of water, but the keen eyes on Ehm see something transparent and strange lurking in the water.

Looks like there is something down there. What do you do?

Daylin looks back at Vegazi in mild surprise. It's not clear whether it's what she saying that surprises him, or the fact that she's talking, unprompted, at all.

"Ilka and Ogash." he repeats slowly, considering her words. "So... your relationship with you half-sisters wasn't always unfriendly?" he says gently, obviously trying to respect her discomfort. "That must make this experience all the more difficult for you."

Dungeoneering, DC 14+:
inking their way through cold swamps and bleary marshlands, or sometimes even dungeons and caverns, gray oozes consume any organic materials they encounter. Despite its lack of intelligence, the gray ooze is a most problematic creature due to its transparency. While the ooze cannot easily climb walls or swim, its habit of lurking in the thick mud that lines the banks of marsh pools or lying in harmless-looking pools on dull-colored dungeon floors makes it dangerously easy to overlook and step on. This ooze is nothing special, it is mostly transparent making it hard to see, and the acid on it's flesh can be dangerous if it comes in contact with anything.

You go back to investigate the northwest tunnel. It looks like this section of the underground has collapsed a long time a go, and long since has been left alone.

Instead, you grow more curious at the sets of footprints leading into the south-east tunnel. You follow then, carefully. Vegazi grabs Daylin by the hand, telling him to slow down, "Wait, be careful. I think I smell my..."

It is too late, Manug steps a little too far into the room. A steep dirt slope leads up to a shelf ten feet from the floor of this thirty-foot-tall chamber. Tunnels branching out to the east and northwest create long dark tunnels.

A reskinned tiefling, wearing tribal wear stands on the raised platform, giving commands to a group of orc spearmen, "Találnunk kell egy utat az istenverte városba! Keresse meg a bejáratot … Ah, sister. I thought I smelled the runt of the family. How good of you to come to me, when I have been so busy searching for you!" She looks down the way you've come in, and smiles toward the older human standing in the entrance to her cave, "And it looks like you've brought some friends! How typical."

Vegazi looks uncomfortably at the group.

How do you react? Apologise for the tokens, those spearmen are supposed to be orcs, I will change them to be more representing of what they look like at some point.

Daylin takes a step forward.

"Vegazi will not be coming with you." says Daylin firmly. "We have dealt with two of her sisters already, and we shall deal with you if we must. Leave this place at once, in the name of the Light!"

Daylin makes no threatening move and casts no spell, but he holds his shield and morning star at the ready, should things get violent.

Akaasha stays silent and moves stealthily into a position behind the party, preparing to send a surprising kinetic blast into the Tiefling if she becomes hostile.

The tiefling looks directly at Akaasha who tries to move stealthily behind the group, but the light from his parties spells do no favours for his shadow which creeps over. She smiles, "Won't she?" - a direct response to the statement posed by Daylin. "Vegazi has no say in the matter. Her mother wants her reunited with the family. I guess, it makes things complicated now that some of our sisters have been …disposed of. Survival of the fittest, or whatever they say. You have been lucky so far, but this is where your luck has run out! Get them!"

Akaasha can see that there is more structural weakness in the ceiling in this cave, and points it out the group. Just like last time, any loud noise, or spell will cause the room to collapse.
