I’ll warn that Stra-Der may not be well suited to this game. His best Starship roll is captain with +6 intimidate and diplomacy. His next best is gunnery at +3. Also: he is uncultured.

I actually didn’t want her to have intimidate, but the shock and awe style almost requires it. And as that style gets to higher levels, if I get critt; sirens and lights go off in their armor, which I can flavor as playing StarSugar Heart love.

Alright, first post coming up. Good news, you'll be able to bypass the Starship combat entirely, with some very high knowledge rolls. In lameness terms, there is a way to guarantee success.

The Besmaran Whelp fight is one of the reasons this is repeatable. Want a way to bypass this fight?
In the offense traits give it Pulsing Bite: The whelp’s bite deals 2d4 damage in addition to the EMP effect.
In the defense traits give it anything, preferrable something useless Tracking Symbiotic Decoys: The whelp gains +2 TL.
In the special traits give it Cybernetics: The whelp has advanced computers and sensors that allow it to take science officer actions, as well as the normal actions from living starship. It counts as having a +5 bonus to Computers checks (+8 in Subtier 3–4).

Now the creature has a speed of 10 and has no ranged capabilities. It also does not understand that it can never catch up to the Pegasus. So pick the Pegasus and not the Drake. Simply let the heroes roll very high skill checks to figure this out. When round 1 begins, assuming you are a good number of hexes away, simply turn you ship around to be facing away from it. Run away from it full speed ahead every round. The gunner, no matter how good or bad of a shot he/she is will eventually hit it in the rear arc. Run away every round and fire. It has a speed of 10 and so does the Pegasus. The chase could last for hours, but it can never reach you. It does runaway when reduced 20 HP or less. Obviously the creature will bother someone else in the future, so it is best to destroy it. Simply chase it, you will lose a few hexes when you turn around, but it won't be any more than 30 hexes away from you. When you hit it, it will turn back around and chase you. Simply run away again and fire in the rear arc until it dies. Similar tactics are applied when D&D characters fight oozes in open spaces. Oozes have speed 20 and characters have speed 25 or greater. Simply run and shoot. Now every once in a while you will have to doublemove, making sure that the ooze is a 50 foot min from you at the end of every round. You will eventually kill the ooze without any threat.
