Since this is a bit more meaty a topic than convinient for Hangouts: Does an Astrazoan's Change Shape actually change them enough that an azlanti-blood-detector would think he's azlanti? What if it looked for azlanti human DNA? Or if it checked for azlanti brain waves or something?

I'm not sure how far it works (and how much I can rely on it :>).

My gut reaction is that you cannot fool bioscanners for genetic material -- that would take some high level equipment that you do not have access to yet -- but you can fool most everything else.

New Theme

The Professional

Some characters are known primarily for their combat abilities. Others for their spells. Still others for their ability to get into places where they are not wanted.

Not you. While you can do some or all of that you are primarily known for your mastery of a single non adventuring profession. Perhaps you are a world famous chef, perhaps you are one of the best tailors in the universe, but it is your profession that sends you to the stars.

Theme Knowledge (1st Level)

Choose a Profession skill. You are focused on that profession. You gain a +1 on that Profession. Reduce the DC by 5 for all Non Profession skill checks made that are directly related to that Profession (e. g., Culture checks to know about cultural aspects of your profession, computer checks or engineering checks related to your profession, etc). Culture also becomes a class skill for you, though if it is a class skill from the class you take at 1st level, you instead gain a +1 bonus to Culture checks. In addition, you gain an ability adjustment of +1 to Wisdom at character creation.

Celebrity (6th level)
You are famous enough that pretty much everyone who is either in your profession or regularly hires people of your profession has either heard of you or can quickly find information about you (it’s a DC 10 Culture check to recognize your name and a DC 20 Culture check for someone to recognize you out of context from your appearance alone). Among those who follow your iconic profession, you’ve built up both fans and detractors due to your celebrity. If you’re looking for a generic person like “a doctor who can treat this disease,” you can almost always find one who’s a fan and whose attitude starts as friendly or helpful to you; this takes 2d4 hours. At the GM’s discretion, fans might give you services (although not goods) for a discount or even for free.

That looks right for Prosper's / my 705 character's chronicle. It's a fresh character that'll be getting a race boon applied and a 1-99 chronicle to start at 2nd, so this'll be chronicle #3 for them. I still haven't settled on the details for the character (I'm not sure if it'll still be called Marax). Hope that's OK.

Also, though dependent on the GM, I do not believe that skittermander is a language. It is my understanding that skittermanders start with vesk and common. I imagine they no longer have their own language because the vesk told them not to.

Skittermanders not having a language is an unhappy revelation. No one tell my Dead Suns skittermander PC (nor my Dead Suns GM :S). I'll switch it out for vesk instead.

Also, Versatile Spec makes sense, though I don't anticipate getting any other proficiencies in the short length of this campaign.

I figure it almost certainly won't come up but you never know when you'll find yourself disarmed and the only thing nearby is a reaction cannon. ;)

I decided to go with step up for my feat. Gained Sidereal Influence and chose sense motive and diplomacy. Most everything else was just +1 to a bunch of stuff.

I suggest Halfling, Kasathan or Castrovellian. Shirren might be an interesting alternate choice.

From ARMORY:

  • Kasathas: Kasathan recipes are usually traditional and exclusively use plants and animals native to their original home world of Kasath. Kasathan cuisine has a decidedly alien appearance that many other species find disturbing, though most dishes are surprisingly savory and delectable.

  • Lashuntas: Lashuntas delight in using local flora and fauna in their cuisine, emphasizing the use of native berries, fruits, and nuts to make delightfully palatable dishes. Lashuntas consume a variety of animal products, but arthropod meat—especially from giant insects—is most common.   • Shirrens: While artfully prepared, traditional shirren cuisine is almost always served raw, accompanied by honeys and nectars as both drinks and sauces for other dishes. To many shirrens, food is yet another choice in which they can express their individualism, and they are more than willing to experiment with other foods, often incorporating elements of other cuisines into their cooking.

  • Vesk: Vesk food tends to be pragmatic and utilitarian, as if every dish were handcrafted by a drill sergeant who didn't care much for cooking. The exception to this rule is meat, which any self-respecting vesk agrees is the most crucial component of any meal. Vesk treat preparing and seasoning meat as an art, assimilating and enhancing each new world's recipes for cooking meat almost as quickly as they conquer them.

  • Ysoki: The fact that ysoki will eat whatever they can get their paws on is largely reflected in their cooking. Ysoki fare tends to be scavenged meats and cheeses served either as finger foods or in stews, and the food is often questionable in color, quality, and texture. Many other species tend to avoid eating ysoki cuisine if they can help it

    Yep, but your ship needs upgrading, and some of the players need a slight break in the non-stop action that we've had so far. So I'm giving you a few days in game time to get the ship upgraded with the weird Azlanti stuff you've had lying around.

    OK! The Teapot has been upgraded for Tier 3. Shiny new features include:

  • Much better AC and TL (Including Wint's 3 piloting ranks, we're at AC16/TL16)
  • Longer range scanners
  • A big 'ol heavy laser cannon in the heavy mount up front
  • An aeon caster in the turret for Spec to use (Has the mystical property, so you can use mysticism ranks and WIS to calculate gunnery)
  • Guest quarters in case we want to do some light entertaining
  • 'Good' crew quarters for living in comfort

    Did we ever finalize the Sayonsi purchases?
    I know she offered 6000 in credit, and most of that (or all?) was from the named weapons.
    Prosper wanted the Ring of Resistance, Spec was eyeing the staff and spellgems, but that's a bit of a heavy lift.... What did anyone else want?

    I almost forgot. The viridian balbis would be really nice but I don't see that happening. The amber hyperboloid would be my next choice. Still a pretty big chunk of the 6000 but I can add some from my personal coffers too.
