GM Hmm |
Thanks for botting. It is important to keep things moving.
Thanks for understanding that I need to bot sometimes!
Hmm
Prosperity "Prosper" Starr |
Since this is a bit more meaty a topic than convinient for Hangouts: Does an Astrazoan's Change Shape actually change them enough that an azlanti-blood-detector would think he's azlanti? What if it looked for azlanti human DNA? Or if it checked for azlanti brain waves or something?
I'm not sure how far it works (and how much I can rely on it :>).
GM Hmm |
My gut reaction is that you cannot fool bioscanners for genetic material -- that would take some high level equipment that you do not have access to yet -- but you can fool most everything else.
Does this make sense?
Hmm
Prosperity "Prosper" Starr |
Makes sense! And sounds pretty potent. :>
BTW, as a heads up, I'll be at PAX East the next four days. While I should be able to check in with my phone most days, I can't guarantee I'll have chances to post. Feel free to bot me.

What is your current reputation with Manifold Host?
Minos the Techno-Philosopher |
Should be 5
This character is using the boon from 1-99 to start at level 2

I thought that I'd put it here. Easier to find later
Very much primarily inspired by Icon.
I only did the first 2 levels since we won't be getting past that for a long time :-)
New Theme
The Professional
Some characters are known primarily for their combat abilities. Others for their spells. Still others for their ability to get into places where they are not wanted.
Not you. While you can do some or all of that you are primarily known for your mastery of a single non adventuring profession. Perhaps you are a world famous chef, perhaps you are one of the best tailors in the universe, but it is your profession that sends you to the stars.
Theme Knowledge (1st Level)
Choose a Profession skill. You are focused on that profession. You gain a +1 on that Profession. Reduce the DC by 5 for all Non Profession skill checks made that are directly related to that Profession (e. g., Culture checks to know about cultural aspects of your profession, computer checks or engineering checks related to your profession, etc). Culture also becomes a class skill for you, though if it is a class skill from the class you take at 1st level, you instead gain a +1 bonus to Culture checks. In addition, you gain an ability adjustment of +1 to Wisdom at character creation.
Celebrity (6th level)
You are famous enough that pretty much everyone who is either in your profession or regularly hires people of your profession has either heard of you or can quickly find information about you (it’s a DC 10 Culture check to recognize your name and a DC 20 Culture check for someone to recognize you out of context from your appearance alone). Among those who follow your iconic profession, you’ve built up both fans and detractors due to your celebrity. If you’re looking for a generic person like “a doctor who can treat this disease,” you can almost always find one who’s a fan and whose attitude starts as friendly or helpful to you; this takes 2d4 hours. At the GM’s discretion, fans might give you services (although not goods) for a discount or even for free.
Prosperity "Prosper" Starr |
That looks right for Prosper's / my 705 character's chronicle. It's a fresh character that'll be getting a race boon applied and a 1-99 chronicle to start at 2nd, so this'll be chronicle #3 for them. I still haven't settled on the details for the character (I'm not sure if it'll still be called Marax). Hope that's OK.
GM Hmm |
I can leave the name blank on the chronicle, but I'll need a name for reporting.
Hmm
Prosperity "Prosper" Starr |
Oops, I totally failed to notice that you followed up on my post above HMM. If you still need a name for reporting, please use "Yngve", though it would be good if you could leave the chronicle blank in case I end up flip flopping on it once more.
Thanks!

Hey, I've got some stuff that I'm dealing with -- I'll try to catch you up again on Tuesday with this starship fight.

GM Hmm |
It's time to Level! Please sum up any special Level 3 changes!
Pon. |
Class - Operative’s edge +2, quick movement (+10 ft.), trick attack +1d8, weapon specialization
Skills - ranks spent in the skills denoted by *
Feat - Versatile Specialization
Languages - +Goblin, Nchaki
Prosperity "Prosper" Starr |
~~~Prosper Level 3:
BAB, FORT +1
Skillups (see profile)
+Language: Skittermander
Weapon Specialization in Envoy Weapons
Feat: Weapon Specialization (Longarms)
Feature: Expertise Talent - Convincing Liar
So easy to level up. :>
Pon. |
Also, though dependent on the GM, I do not believe that skittermander is a language. It is my understanding that skittermanders start with vesk and common. I imagine they no longer have their own language because the vesk told them not to.
GM Hmm |
Skittermander is not its own language, alas. But perhaps it is now a secret language spoken only by those skittermanders like Wint who love helping but did not like Vesk!
Wint |
Most of the upgrades came from my class (+1 or +2 to most skills, d8 trick attack, increased speed).
As a feat I took coordinated shot (so I can be more helpful :-))
Hmm, you never commented on my proposed Expert Theme. I'd like to swap pilot for something like that if I could (power gamer that I am, I want to rock my profession housekeeper skill :-))
Prosperity "Prosper" Starr |
Skittermanders not having a language is an unhappy revelation. No one tell my Dead Suns skittermander PC (nor my Dead Suns GM :S). I'll switch it out for vesk instead.
Also, Versatile Spec makes sense, though I don't anticipate getting any other proficiencies in the short length of this campaign.
GM Hmm |
Wint, if you wish to switch out theme, I'll allow it. It'll mean that your pilot skill will take a slight hit, though. But yes, feel free to change it if you wish.
Prosper, I know what you mean. It was a shock to me to realize that Skittermanders had forgotten their native tongue.
So would you like to spend about 4 days real time rebuilding Nakondis and getting to know each other better?
Thanks. Me too on the Skittermander (I thought I knew it :-))
Does anybody know any languages famed for their cooking abilities? The Starfinder equivalents of French and Italian?
Dalinar Theodrin |
Also, Versatile Spec makes sense, though I don't anticipate getting any other proficiencies in the short length of this campaign.
I figure it almost certainly won't come up but you never know when you'll find yourself disarmed and the only thing nearby is a reaction cannon. ;)
I decided to go with step up for my feat. Gained Sidereal Influence and chose sense motive and diplomacy. Most everything else was just +1 to a bunch of stuff.
GM Hmm |
I suggest Halfling, Kasathan or Castrovellian. Shirren might be an interesting alternate choice.
From ARMORY:
GM Hmm |
Yep, but your ship needs upgrading, and some of the players need a slight break in the non-stop action that we've had so far. So I'm giving you a few days in game time to get the ship upgraded with the weird Azlanti stuff you've had lying around.
Cellion, feel free to use materials from the ships of Azlant chapter of this AP if you would like. Let me know if you need me to find you references.
Minos the Techno-Philosopher |
So I for the most part leveled up. Assuming that I can take "Squox Companion" for my feat. Otherwise will need to figure out something else.
GM Hmm |
Yes, you may have a squox companion.
GM Hmm |
And I have to ask... Is everyone progressing on to Book 2? I just want to make sure that everyone's happy and wants to continue.
GM Hmm |
Ah, tell me about this expansion!
Wint |
Of COURSE I'm continuing. Its all been great fun. And how else can I become a famous housekeeper/chef that everybody has heard of (hey, we ll need goals :-) :-))
Pon. |
Pon will be spending all of the 4 days studying and extrapolating as much information about the Azlanti as possible. He has no desire to aid in the reconstruction of Nakondis.
Minos the Techno-Philosopher |
I am good to continue. I did put down a few things on my ITT that I plan to buy create as soon as we get a chance. For now I am having Minos carry all the Spell Gems/Ampoules. He would be happy to carry the various medical equipment, but he isn't trained in Medicine.
Rush Ling |
Im game for staying. Some of my other PBP games will be closing up, so I can put more attention on this one again.
If acceptable, I would like to purchase a second Bone Blade.
Prof. Spec Silvervanes |
Did we ever finalize the Sayonsi purchases?
I know she offered 6000 in credit, and most of that (or all?) was from the named weapons.
Prosper wanted the Ring of Resistance, Spec was eyeing the staff and spellgems, but that's a bit of a heavy lift.... What did anyone else want?
GM Hmm |
You have not finished the Sayonsi purchases. Can you tally things up, Spec? Dalinar, what aeon stone were you eyeing?
Dalinar Theodrin |
I almost forgot. The viridian balbis would be really nice but I don't see that happening. The amber hyperboloid would be my next choice. Still a pretty big chunk of the 6000 but I can add some from my personal coffers too.
For awareness: I'll be traveling on business for the next two weeks (until the 24th). While I expect to be able to post, I may have less time and energy to do so. I'll do my best to keep up, but feel free to bot me as needed.
