Fiendish Spider Swarm. An awful, scuttling mass of legs and mandibles scramblesforward out of the darkness.
1 Question @16, 2 Questions @21
Aaftaab |
”Oh no! I do not have a problem with big spiders but these tiny ones could crawl all over my beautiful body! No way!“
Aaftaab retrieves her vermin repellent and applies it to her body.
Popole |
Well it sucks... I only have alchemist fire, no acid flask.
Popole moves towards the swarm and shouts:
"Kill it with acid! At the center of the swarm!"
FREEBOOTER'S BANE: +1 to hit / +1 to damage against my target!
Reginald Gerbin III |
"Oh, well I did bring a spare acid flask," Reginald says cheerfully. "Would anyone want it?"
Or both, really. Witches Wizards aren't known for their throwing skills.
Popole |
"I'll take it! ...soon!"
Popole can aim ;) But it'll be next round.
Marrowtusk |
"I'm not very good at throwing, do we have any spells that can get rid of em?" Marrowtusk takes out his cold iron morningstar but doesn't have much that can affect a swarm. But then he remembers he has two Alchemist Fire and pulls one of those out instead but hesitates to throw it, if we have a better option.
GM Worg |
Proceeding to next round.
Spiders chase after Marrowtusk!
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 1
Marrowtusk needs to make 2 fortitude saves, DC11. Distraction and Poison

1 Question @16, 2 Questions @21
Reginald Gerbin III |
”Alright, that’s one bottle for you,” Reginald says as he hands Anthelea a flask of green liquid. ”And one for you!” he finishes as he hands the other to Popole.
Popole |
Popole comes back, takes the vial and throws it!
Acid flask, FB: 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 7 + 1 = 14 for Acid, FB: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Everyone don't forget Freebooter's bane against the swarm :)
Marrowtusk |
Fort Save 1: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
Fort Save 2: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
Marrowtusk doesn't feel so good as the poison hits him. Useless against swarms that resist fire, he will back away and see if the acid flasks handle it.

1 Question @16, 2 Questions @21
Popole |
Yes, GM could you tell us if it hits or not?
Popole shouts "Y'all got anymore of those acid flasks?"
Reginald Gerbin III |
"My goodness, that's got to be the toughest swarm of spiders I've ever seen!" Reginald exclaims. "Most would have disbursed after taking that much damage. Hmm. While they resist fire on account of being fiendish, perhaps their vulnerability to splash damage as a swarm would overcome that resistance and encourage them to leave if we used alchemist's fire on them. Did someone say they have some?" He looks around hopefully.
Popole |
"Yes, I have some. Hold on..." says Popole, grabbing one of his own alchemist fire.
Alchemist fire, FB: 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 7 + 1 = 24 for Fire: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
GM Worg |
13 did hit it, but 12 didn't. 12 Splashed it, so 13 will add more damage because of the buffs from Popole. Thats enough to scatter the swarm and force it to disperse. Remember your allies buffs :D
The swarm disperses and subsequently deals no damage and does not force Popole to use his flask. The single door on the north side appears to be able to open. Marrowtusk is still poisoned and could use treatment.
Aaftaab |
Aaftaab is clearly happy.
”Thank you, Thank you! Horrible... “
Reginald Gerbin III |
If someone can cast guidance on Marrowtusk, perhaps he can just out-Fortitude the poison. Reginald is a poor 1st level character and doesn't have anything that could directly help unfortunately.
Marrowtusk |
"I'll be fine, I've put up with worse." Marrowtusk shrugs off the poison and wants to continue forward as he goes to the door at the north and opens it up.
Do I need to make regular Fort saves to try and fight off the poison? You can go ahead and bot mine if you want, saves are above in my stat line.
Popole |
Nice! Anyone has an antitoxin for Marrowtusk?
Popole looks at the signs of poison and the marks on Marrowtusk's skin.
"I could help you. But it'd take a lot of time. I learned some skills in my tribe..."
I have the Heal psychic unlock thanks to a boon. However it takes minimum one hour to suspend your affliction, 8h to end it. If you beat the DC, I could restore your damage, though.
Popole sneaks a look into the house.

The party ventures into the warehouse's small room. Basic warehouse supplies, such as ropes, hammers, crowbars, and cargo nets, hang from the northern wall of this room. Several crates stand against the western wall. Doors stand against the east and south walls. A pulsating mass of purplish-black sludge lies along the floor near the southern wall between the two doors, and long filaments anchor the substance to the walls and ceiling. A large, strange egg sac lies at the center of the slime, with tiny legs visibly scrabbling beneath its surface. Three other nearby egg sacs have already burst.

Reginald pouts in the back of the party. "Why is everything here mindless?" he says with tears in his eyes.

1 Question @16, 2 Questions @21
Those Eggs look like their hatching...: 2d4 ⇒ (2, 3) = 5
Marrowtusk |
Let's try to clear that ooze, anyone can take that idea for the group.
Marrowtusk is already holding his new favorite weapon, his cold iron morningstar, charging over to the ooze to try and smash the ooze.
Morningstar: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16
Damage: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Aaftaab |
Aaftaab suddenly starts a new battle dance. She whirls around and with additional momentum attacks with her scimitar!

Popole designates the ooze!
"Attack it with... with what you've got!"
FREEBOOTER'S BANE: +1 to hit / +1 to damage against my target!
Reginald Gerbin III |
"Oh?" Reginald asks, slightly confused. "Are we cleaning up already?" He walks in happily with his wand, tapping the oozy purple stuff to destroy it like the others.
Cure Light Wounds, FB: 1d8 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 + 1 = 6
GM Worg |
The party destroys the eggs and prevents any further growth. Dead centipedes crawl from the smashed eggs, and all that remains is a warehouse room with supplies. A single door leads south to the main warehouse area.
Torches in each corner of this large room shed dim flickering light between high columns of barrels and crates. Four large pillars support the ceiling. Purplish-black slime covers the eastern wall and much of the room’s southeast corner, stretching between the walls, pillars, and crates with long filaments. Countless shapes, varying greatly in size, crowd the sludge. Several of these shapes, pinned to the walls and crates or lying on the floor, appear human-sized.
Reginald Gerbin III |
Reginald trots over and happily starts tapping one of the closer shapes with his wand. "And a one, and a two, and a..." he chants as he waves the wand as though conducting an orchestra.
GM Worg |
"Huh?! Wha? What- where am I? Where is Gellion?!" The apprentice starts asking, frantically. "Who are you?!"
Reginald Gerbin III |
"Reginald Gerbin the Third!" Reginald proclaims happily as he moves to the next lump. "Wizard extraordinaire, at your service!"
