Hi all,

Just kicking off the GM only thread for the Siege of the Diamond city so we can maintain communication and ensure nothing gets missed.

Thanks for being the GM team for this special. I have run four of the MTS as 'Community specials' and am really happy to collaborate with the online venture crew for this 'Multi multi-table' special event.

We have 13 tables for this special and it appears they are all pretty much rammed full.

As the Overseer, I will be posting into your Gameplay threads with any 'Overseer' text. I will also provide links above for tracking successes as the special requires at certain times, and also a link to the city sector map that will be updated on a regular basis.

Shared prep and the like is always helpful, so feel free to give each other a hand. There is invariably an eager beaver out there with a slide pack and minibox to share. There will also be a general 'running sheet' with key dates and information to help us keep our timings coordinated, but as a general rule of thumb we tend to use the '5 mins of game time = 1 day' ratio.

Posting speed & Absences
Players and GMs will need to be mindful to post daily, these specials don't take weekends off, and the pace is pretty rapid. We will have a stable of back-up GMs, so if you need to take a break, please make sure you line up coverage with them prior to departing.

Reporting:
GMs will gather player data and issue chronicles, details of where to provide table info for reporting is still TBA.

Boons:
Details on boons will follow in due course.

Escaping the Grave, Table 1 | Escaping the Grave, Table 2 | The Midnight Mirror

Shifty, how long will be allotted for Act 1 (introductions and knowledge checks)? When I've done this FtF it is done during mustering and isn't really part of the actual session time.

Act one in the scenario is 15 minutes to muster up and do introductions, this equates to 3 days (72 hours). 'The announcement' can be expected at the 10 min (2 day) mark.

Also, the end of Act 1 transitions straight into Act 2, so will come as one post.

Shifty, how do you want us to get you our gameplay threads (Mine is Siege of the Diamond City campaign thread)

Also, I assume that there will be a spreadsheet or something with backup GMs?

Finally, my table (14-15) is only at 5 currently, if folks know anyone.

Would have posted this all in discussion, but it isn't up)

Sign up sheet Dragon.

I think we have links in the sign-up spreadsheet mostly.

Yep I will be getting the game links (by hook or by crook) and having them populated in the sign-up sheet. The back-up GMs are also named there as well, so it is a good reference tool.

All GMs, including backup, have been pointed towards this thread.

First post is up - let me know if you are having any difficulties! :)

OVERSEER ANNOUNCEMENT

“Fellow Pathfinders, I am Jorsal of Lauterbury, Venture-Captain of Nerosyan. I welcome you to the Starrise Spire and bid you to find a seat and speak with the other guests. Once everyone is comfortably seated, I will get to the point of this great gathering.”

I have had two no shows finally show up after I offered a spot to the waitlist guy

My last post in discussion was

Please post ramakanti and clarion I will look to get clearance to run a seven player table in less someone else has offered a spot to our waitlisted player. Hustle first and then we will worry about the logistics later

Let me know your thoughts

Rules say you can run a 7 person if you are comfortable with it, and given we're now in the clock its probably prudent to pick them up asap and game on :)

OVERSEER ANNOUNCEMENT

“Pathfinders, please get settled. I’d like to start in a few minutes.”

In 24 hours we will kick forward and things will get 'a bit hectic'.

OVERSEER ANNOUNCEMENT

“Welcome one and all, to the city of Nerosyan. I am Jorsal, Venture-Captain of Starrise Spire. I know you all have questions about why you’ve been sent here, and I intend to spend the evening answering those questions".

“I shall start by telling you why the Society has sent so many skilled agents to Mendev. Intrepid agents recently uncovered information that points to a startling find in the old nation of Sarkoris, now known as the Worldwound. These agents have discovered that a dwarven Sky Citadel, one of the rarest sites on the planet, rests within the Worldwound. It is known to us as Jormurdun.

“It is the will of the Decemvirate that we should come together and find the exact site of thi—”

The speech is interrupted by a distant explosion and the sounding of war horns!

The map of the Diamond City is now loaded in slides - all sectors are Orange. GM's can now move into Gettig Started on Page 7 (Have Jorsal approach the group and read the following aloud. “My friends, it appears the city is under attack by a force of demons from the Worldwound)

Please begin reporting successes on the spreadhseet (in campaign info)

SEEKER TABLES
After an encounter, each player at a table of seekers receives one Aid Token that can be passed to any nearby non-seeker table. These tokens can be found on page 52, but I suggest simply letting the 'beneficiary' table know by pasting it to the beneficiary tables Gameplay thread with the Aid Token text and some 'fluff'

[b ]Seeker Aid Token[/b ]
You may use this token to:
Benefit from aid another
or
Increase an attack’s damage
or
Heal all PCs
or
Increase a spell’s save DC

To confirm, we've got two seeker tables, right?

Reminder, these must be used in Act 2, or they are lost.

Yep - we have TWO seekers tables - Batpony & Debug

You sure about that (says the guy running 14-15)?

(10-11 isn't seeker )

My table is 10-11, so I'm under the impression I'm not a seeker table.

Are you on the BGG@SEA staff?

Whats the BGG@SEA?

Escaping the Grave, Table 1 | Escaping the Grave, Table 2 | The Midnight Mirror

Apparently not, then. ;-)

"BGG" is "BoardGameGeek" (https://www.boardgamegeek.com/). They host 3 conventions a year; the flagship convention is in Dallas in November, and is one of the biggest conventions in the world dedicated just to tabletop board games. They have a smaller spring convention that is family friendly (younger children are not allowed at the fall one, but are at the spring). A couple of years ago, they started doing a boardgame cruise, which they dubbed "BGG@SEA".

So each of my seekers gets an aid token to pass between missions? So 6 aid tokens are about to be distributed?

Says 'each'.

After an encounter, each player at a table of seekers receives one Aid Token that can be passed to any nearby non-seeker table.

It's the Oprah of Aid.

GM Rinaldo wrote:

Nope, just a VC with a sense of adventure. The cruise will be a con of PFS/SFS, should be good.

We also have BBQ Game days of around 30 people in one of the national parks, and a range of other fun things. Should see the size of the water dragons - some are almost 3 feet long and they come looking for sausages.

Aww, now you have me missing my pet green iguana, Drake, who was over 3 feet long and thought she was a lapdog...

OVERSEER ANNOUNCEMENT

Pathfinders have struck a blow against the invaders in the Battle District
Condition green

OVERSEER ANNOUNCEMENT

Pathfinders have started pushing back against the horde in the Egelsee and Outer districts
Condition Yellow in both locations

OVERSEER ANNOUNCEMENT

Pathfinders have continued driving back the hordes in Egelsee!
Condition green in that location

OVERSEER ANNOUNCEMENT

Further victories have been achieved in Egelsee and the Outer districts!
In Woundward, the initial push back against the horde has started working!

Condition green in those locations

Looks like the tables are going strong. Next round (in 24 hours) we move up how many successes to hold or influence/change a district, so it's going to get a bit harder to push back the horde.

OVERSEER ANNOUNCEMENT
Strong victories have been achieved in the Battle district, and Egelsee appears to be doing well with only sporadic attacks on them. The Woundward and Confluence districts still have sustained demonic attacks in progress, and the Outer district is struggling to remain controlled.

The enemy is attempting to reinforce their positions and begin pushing the Pathfinders back...

Were in the next round, 3 successes required

Secret Roll List | Placeholder | Spell Templates | Gallows #3 |

Successes are cumulative though right so some districts need fewer to get to the 3 for a success?

Correct, so that Battle District won't be moving anytime soon.

I now also see the difference in 30 mins cycles vs a 15 minute cycle

As it is 1/3/4/6/7 = 35 needed for 'all green' and keeping pace.

Or

1/3/4/6/7/9/10/12/13/15 = 75 needed for all 'green' and keeping pace.

That's a big difference in work rate and outcome.

Is there a reporting link somewhere for me to put down a Woundward district success?

It's the 'Success Tracking' link at the top.

Just add extra lines to the sheet?

Apparently. (The first sheet that is, don't touch the second one, that's used as a lookup for the dropdown boxes on the first)

Yeah, the pacing going on makes it seem like the faster times would really work here, Shifty.

Of course, Seeker time is a little different, though my table is about to finish their first encounter.

Man, running this tier is a pain. So much to remember as a GM, without the table able to remind you before you press “Submit Post”

OVERSEER ANNOUNCEMENT
With a concentration of effort, the Confluence District has been mostly cleared of invaders with only sporadic attacks in progress.

It appears to be getting harder to hold down the Districts though, as the horde is starting to reinforce their ranks...

OVERSEER ANNOUNCEMENT
The Woundward District has been brought under control.

Sporadic attacks are being felt in all districts, and victory against the horde is far from assured...

OVERSEER ANNOUNCEMENT

The demons are trying to attack in greater numbers and regain control but the Pathfinders are clearing them out just as quickly. Reports indicate that the waves of enemy continue to grow significantly larger.

Round 3, four successes to hold the districts

OVERSEER ANNOUNCEMENT
Despite the Demons attempting to take control once again and arriving in greater numbers, the host of Pathfinders is battering them back as quickly as they arrive. The Pathfinders are delivering victories at an astonishing rate, particularly in the Confluence and Outer districts!

Round 4 - we have 10 days of this act to go

Next round starts in 24 hours.

Interestingly, had we gone for 5 waves or 10, the speed of successes of the group is so high that they would have been green pretty much the whole way through this.

Either the modern power level is significantly more than it once was, or 5mins/1day is too slow.

Lantern Lodge

Sign up sheet Dragon.

Probably a combination. There are a fair number of non combat encounters that don't really tax resources as well.

True.

These guys are really just dominating it though.

Lantern Lodge

Sign up sheet Dragon.

There are a couple of stand out tables, but most of us are in the 3-5 successes window. It could be that for this type of encounter structure where there is really just a short battle with limited preamble, we can compress down the 1 day == 5min to a shorter time, and have a bit more in the exploration areas of future specials.

Grand Lodge

GM

My seeker table has 2 paladins, a barbarian, an arcane trickster, and a psychic. They have been in some very serious danger, but things end quickly... one way or the other. They tend to wrap up combat encounters in 2-3 rounds tops due to their composition, although 2 of them have had a PC very near death. So it's not like they aren't being challenged...

Dark Archive

Human (Minnesotan) Rules Lawyer 4, GM 5!

I would say that my seeker take is moving pretty quickly for a seeker table. And that includes having done a social encounter.

It is a hard balance... many tables tend to communicate a lot and push posts (more than the 1/day standard. )

So, with that, maybe the 1 day per 5 minutes is not balanced to what a tabletop game would be. However, while combat goes faster, effectively, exploration is much slower (unless the GM fast forwards?)

Secret Roll List | Placeholder | Spell Templates | Gallows #3 |

My table is at four (prolly 5 tomorrow) and we’ve done two of the longer encounters. No enemies have really given them a pause though, just delayed the inevitable a while. The other two fights ended round 2 because... slimes suck and an x3 melee build Crit.

The one exploration encounter I suggested they create a SOP which they did well and we cruised through each room. Fast experienced posters make for a chewed up special.

5/Day has bee the broader 'go to' for all the other specials, this one seems a bit funky.

EB & Erich tables really streaking ahead :)

Silver Crusade

Venture Lieutenant, Play by Post (online), Hostess of Cottonseed Lodge (playtest)

1 day for 6 minutes is actually the approved conversion formula, so it's probably a factor of the slightly slower pace together with a strange special.
