In my 7-8 encounter, the wizard started off at the top of initiative by casting Aqueous Orb on a Magma Ooze. A few missed saves later, the Ooze was petrified by its vulnerability to water and the party's animal companions chewed it to death. In case anyone is surprised by my group's double success reporting today. :)

I was surprised, and I am a player in the game! It was barely a few hours and when I came home the ooze was done with...

Shifty,
My name appears to be missing from the drop down for success tracking. Probably because you list GM Batpony in the gameplay thread instead of me for my game.

GM Debug, should we keep track of who we have given aid tokens to?

Might help to keep things spread around.

I will start from the bottom up.

Academy of Secrets | Shades of Ice

I just created a little spreadsheet to help with tracking Backup calendars and seeker tokens.

Suggestions on edits are welcome (especially for the seeker tokens)

Seeker Tokens and Backup Calendar

For the backup calendar, when a backup has agreed to take over, we can just choose the GM by days that they are covering for.

The aid tokens should be obvious (GM Debug, lemme know if it isn't)

@GMs, should I add a "used" row to the aid token tracking sheet, so you can record when you've used one?

Silbeg, if you just change the name on the second sheet of the tracking spreadsheet, it will show up on the dropdown on the first.

So the total (aid tokens) is when we have received one and then the drop-down is where it was used?

The total is figured from the drop-downs. I see that there is probably a formula error there (don't take into consideration "both"), so I will fix that.

I'll add a USED row, which GMs can note how many their table has used. I will try and make it highlight red if > total

The Midnight Mirror

Silbeg, my table already has an aid token that we haven't used yet. Debug passed it to us on Monday.

My table has used one... via Debug. Marked 1 as used, though it doesn't note we got one yet, at least until Debug fills in the other part.

Dark Archive

Academy of Secrets | Shades of Ice

GM Rinaldo, it is going to happen. My table passes 5 at a time, and Debug's 6.

Different scenario, different rules/standards

Dark Archive

Academy of Secrets | Shades of Ice

Ok, I believe the formula for highlighting use of aid tokens is good.

If GM Debug uses it, we'll have a pretty display tracking use of aid tokens.

GMs, if we use this, do you still want us to post in your threads (I assume so).

V2 Secret Rolls | Escaping Grave | Spell Templates | Hall of the Flesh Eaters |

Absolutely keep posting please, one thing less for me to have to post/monitor and it also provides a bit of an opportunity to RP if one so chooses.

The Midnight Mirror

OK, so I can tell my table they have two tokens available then?

Also, am I correct in recalling that these do not pass from table to table like in later specials? Once we use one, it is discarded?

Use 'em and lose 'em! That's true.
No worries having multiples.

If we are going to post in game play, it would be helpful if GMs were ready to remove us from the active character list, if only so as to not have 12 more games on our campaign page.

Thank you.

The Midnight Mirror

Gotcha, and I'll clear you from my character list.

V2 Secret Rolls | Escaping Grave | Spell Templates | Hall of the Flesh Eaters |

Thanks for the reminder on that. Got my Seeker cleared off.

I love the flavor of your posts! Please keep doing them! I marked you as a NPC, hopefully that takes it off your page.

Cheers guys, some good innovation there!

Good point also about clearing the campaign list once people post, it can really get out of hand.

Thanks! I was just about to mention that myself. I've handed out tokens twice, although I had a player who was AWOL for the entire encounter plus a bit and I was uncertain if they were returning, so the second pass I only handed out 5. They are now back. I'll definitely use that spreadsheet. Full disclosure: I will likely update the spreadsheet and then get the flavor posts out over the course of the rest of the day. If your table is getting wrecked and want to give them a fighting chance, check the spreadsheet to see if they have an unannounced aid token. I'll make the announcement eventually...

For now, time to try to remember who got my aid tokens...

Our table got one of them! From the first round. We havent realy needed hem yet, the zen archer kills something every time she full attacks.

In a seeker game I played recently, someone started referring to the Zen Archer as "Murder Turret".

Can I get a backup GM to do my tier-1-2 CORE table for a couple of days? I may be able to post early tomorrow, but after that I'll be at a camp for the rest of the weekend.

Not sure if you guys already are, but encourage your groups to chew through their aid tokens quickly. I've got a table with 2 paladins and a barbarian demolishing things rather quickly, and every success we get tosses out aid tokens to 6 tables.

...I hadn't but I wasn't aware we had a combat blender of a seeker table, either. I'll say something to that effect, thanks for letting us know!

Seems weird have all districts green with two and a half weeks to go before the Act ends.

Is it possible for a district to get worse?

Yes, each round the number of successes increases - if the raid doesn't keep up they start getting harder.

On a 10 cycle raid the Act would be losing ground pretty rapidly in the next two days.

This is the problem with the cycles - either this raid wins (5 cycles) or they arbitrarily lose (10 cycles).

The Midnight Mirror

Part of the difference between FtF and PbP is that some tables might just happen to have a combination of people who are constantly online and posting 4-5 times a day, and others are only getting a post or 2 a day in. The fast tables can post a lot of successes, making the slower tables feel like it's really easy - by the time they finish their first encounter, several zones are already green.

Indeed, and we can see that by looking at the table reporting numbers, some groups are chugging through - some crawl. The 1:5 (Day/minute) ratio seems to work out the best overall in MTS, but the problem with PbP MTS is that your mileage can vary - I've had some ripper groups, and I've been in others where I was losing the will to live.

Ya, I remember playing this in person... there wasn't a whole lotta green on the screen at times =)

-----------------

As a side note:
What are people using for maps for some of these?

Can't say the ones provided in the scenario have proven useful at all so far.

The Midnight Mirror

I know what you mean. I remember in the first playthrough at Paizocon the sections were constantly flipping from green to orange -- not even stopping at yellow in between. It became a joke at one of the seeker tables that every time the overseer would announce the status the the state of the outer district kept changing, so every 15 minutes they would shout "Inside!!!!" then 15 minutes later "OUTSIDE!!!"

---

I pulled sections off of the flipmat for a lot of them, and combined different sections to get what I felt was appropriate for the description in some cases. I have PDFs of most of the flipmats, so I have some ability to cobble things together.

Dug out a map from the Assault on Absalom special that works much better for what I was after.

Am sick. Going to try to wrap up this encounter since it's in a very complex state, but I would like a backup to take over tomorrow if possible.

Grand Lodge

Finished the encounter. If a backup can take over for a day that'd be appreciated. They could use a diplomatic encounter.

GM Blake (or any of the other backups for this special), I got them started on an encounter (A8) at Redelia's request, but feel free to jump in and take over.

Ah, it looks like I helped the wrong GM! *Facepalm*

Next time I'll look it up in the excel sheet rather than their campaign tab.

Cheers guys.

It's quite alright. No worries :-)

I'll be away with work Fri/Sat. I'll have time to get the next wave update out, but will then be offline for about 36 hours until I get home.

Grand Lodge

GM

Thanks for picking up for me! I'm catching up on the thread now. Would you like me to jump in immediately or did you want to finish out the social encounter? Also, I never passed out Seeker aid tokens from our last success. Considering the rate at which table seem to use them though, that may not have really been an issue. Shifty, would you still like me to get those out or just skip that round?

While Shifty is offline for that short duration I will be in to answer any immediate questions or put out small fires.

18/23/28 - 15/17/19

My table's out of aid tokens - so they'd certainly be happy to snag one :-)

Yeah... I think I had like... everyone's campaign in my campaign tab from handing out aid tokens.

Back!

Yay!

I have a player that wishes to drop out. We have completed three encounters but aren’t even half way through the special. How do I handle the chronicle sheet?

Hmmm the latest guide to OP only cites a reward for partially completing a module, not a scenario, so in this case they look like they are up for not a lot (eg nothing)

The old verbage about partial completion of a scenario appears to be gone.

AtAT | PFS2 1-02 | url= | SFS 1-25 | url=

I could have sworn it was in there, just not in where I thought it should be...

*diving in*

Yeah I'm struggling to find it. Talks about APs and Modules, and dealing with death during a scenario - struggling to find a bit about scenarios.

AtAT | PFS2 1-02 | url= | SFS 1-25 | url=
Quote:
Roleplaying Guild characters can only played in one scenario, module, or Adventure Path at a time. Characters are considered to be playing in a scenario, module or Adventure Path until they receive a Chronicle sheet for sanctioned content. GMs are advised to work with players who do not finish a scenario, module, or Adventure Path to receive their Chronicle sheets.

It looks like 10 does not have it (edit)(the part about generic partial credit). But it does say that the GM should get the Chronicle (i.e. credit) to the player who does not finish. (end edit). Taking it at face value, the other way to interpret it is that they get full credit for a table that they sat down to: you sit at a table at GenCon, give your ticket, sign in on the roster and then at some point leave to go puke your guts out and don't come back until it's over... you get a full chronicle.

PbP would be the same but on a longer time scale.

Or say the intent is that anything that takes multiple sessions can receive partial credit and the people who added the line about Modules and Adventure Paths getting partial credit didn't remember that scenarios can take multiple sessions too depending on how you play.

It's probably a question for HMM.

Silver Crusade

Venture Lieutenant, Play by Post (online), Hostess of Cottonseed Lodge (playtest)

Lacking anything definite in the guide or any clear statements by campaign leadership, I'm going to step in here in my role as conference organizer/PbP VL and say that it is too late for the player to withdraw without a chronicle sheet. They would get a sheet with partial credit. We're somewhere near halfway through the special, so that partial credit would be 1 EXP, 1 PP, and half gold.
