Looks like consensus is to delay/ready actions so I’ll push forward to its turn. Jump in at any point.

The creature pushes off of Jillian and makes a motion akin to sniffing as it jerks its head back and forth among each of the party members. It’s head finally settles on Thael and it burst through each of you as it makes its way to the back of the party. This would provoke from everyone if you like.

When it reaches Thael it puts its big claw on the wizard and pushes him to the ground with tremendous force, then moves to stand over top of him. It’s head and claws poke and prod at his body before settling on his pack. It begins to tear and shred the pack with great zeal. In the process of this, the creature slides one of its claws into Thael’s back as it eagerly tears at him. As Thael screams loudly, blood begins to pour quickly onto the floor around him, his blood.

The creature seems to be searching for something rather than attacking Thael for purposes of injuring him. No ill intent is apparent here. If it wanted to hurt someone it would likely be hsingnits razor sharp stinger on its tail.

The party remembers there are numerous veins of gems all throughout this complex that they have seen and left behind. Thinking back however, they also remember that Thael picked up three agates, one star rose quarts and four amethysts back around the time they explored the ranger redoubt. It's likely those are what the creature is sensing in the wizard's pack.

"And is it ever going to let us get past it ... ?"

Caspan has to play the contrarian (though I like the idea of trying to keep it).

TG1 | GW | FF | RH

Caspan stays engaged with the crystaline creature while the wizard searches in his pack and retrieves the gems. Thael throw the gemstones further down the corridor that they just came from, tossing the gems behind the crysmal. When the crystal scatter past it, the creature disengages with the brawler and bounds on top of the fallen gemstones. Eager scooping them up, the creature absorbs the gemstones into its body where the three gems embed themselves and are clearly visible on its body. Taking note of this process, you notice the creatures has dozens and dozens of precious gems all over its body. It's probably worth quite a bit in pieces . . .

After consuming those three gems, the creatures excitement seems to pass. It moves its head around and examines the direction of each person. Passing over Caspan, Jillian, Selde, Wren and Thael, it locks its gaze on Father Emil as it inclines its head in his direction. With renewed energy, it tries once more to barrel past Caspan and get to the priest. The brawler sets his feet however and braces himself for the charging crystal creature and manages to stop him in his tracks before he pushes back to the group again.

Father Emil found a large citrine with 50gp in the apple orchard. It wants its precious.

Father tosses the gem where Thael threw the others. "The trogs obviously had great reverence fer the earth, so they pro'ly couldn't kill this ... crysmal, is it? I can prepare a spell that may allow me ta communicate with it an' perhaps we can come ta an understandin'. Otherwise, it may become a problem. It's about as useful as a puppy when it comes ta bein' a guard. Toss it a few gems an' it'll consider ya a friend. We may have ta figure out a way ta remove it or kill it if'n we're ta live here. Perhaps we should retreat long enough to gather some of the gems to use as peace offerin's. At least the gems are not lost."

If the creature settles down, we can explore further. Otherwise we'll need to keep bringing it more gems until we find out how many it takes to become sated or satisfied.

Emil will use a scroll of CWL to heal Thael up, unless someone else has some healing resources to spare. It would be good to keep charges in the wand and Emil's channels and spells for melee.

As another idea, once the area is cleared of baddies, we can have Kinning secure it with some masonry to keep it between us and the lower levels, if that's where that descending passageway leads. We could feed the crysmal gems to keep it loyal to us and it would become a more managable guard. We'll probably want to put a secure doorway on that tunnel anyway.

The crysmal dashes off to pick up the gem Father Emil tosses, absorbing it just like it did for the first set. After it finishes with these, it checks you out once more before deciding you are no longer a threat or no longer have any gems it wants. Caspan throws up on the doors to the south which lead to an enormous retctangular room, 30'x25' in size. Salt crystals hang from the ceiling here, glittering in the light of a glowing blue crystal set in an inhuman, insect-like statue in the center of the floor. Mist drifts along the floor of the circular chamber, swirling in the gentle currents of air. The western wall has collapsed into stony debris, but on the eastern wall a carving of a huge, withered dragon’s face leers above a metallic door set deep in the stone.

Woven mats made of dried grasses cover the floor, while bundles of dried herbs hang from the walls, filling the room with a pungent grassy odor. Five troglodytes are in this room, ready and waiting for you to enter. Two warrior types block the door, wielding clubs and javelins. Behind them are two more troglodytes that are wielding spears and heavy crossbows. The fifth troglodyte in the rear is clad differently than any that you have seen yet. Wearing blue ceremonial robes covered with a various gemstones, this creature waves a fancy morningstar in the air as she calls out in Draconic when the doors open.

Draconic:
"The intruders who wish to take our home from us have finally arrived! Do what you must to end their lives and protect the Children of the Stone! I, Ighiz, declare you all heroes and protectors of the Children! You have the blessings of the sleeping god of the stone! Now go!"

With the door open and their commands given, the troglodytes prepare to attack.

Now that's how you respond!

Jillian takes the first troglodyte warrior down with a brutal slice of her greatsword. The blade bisects the first one and continues clean through into the second one, nearly taking him down as well. Pink is down, yellow is very injured.

The horrific nature of her attack is not lost on the acolytes who both look over their shoulder at the leader show grinds her teeth in anger.

Caspan manages to keep his feet, but only because his entire body has locked up. He can't even scream as the acid hits him. I'm not sure if I get Reflex saves with a Dex of 0; that said, I would think it would mean I'm unaffected by the grease.

He strains, trying to muster his ability to beat the lizard men to death before they do the same to him -- but it's still for naught. Attempt to break the spell, but I'm going to have a hard time with that DC.

I'm saying you get a reflex save Caspan. I believe you get one even when you are unconscious. If not, then I just house ruled it! :)

Somehow the paralyzed brawler on the grease avoids the club from the warrior in front of him, likely due to the warrior being partially distracted with fact that Thael has flames bursting from his hands the last few rounds that roasted the guy behind him.

The leader in the room issues a command and all three of the troglodytes move away from the door as she defiantly strides forward towards Jillian and Caspan, a determined look in her eye. When she reaches Jillian she throws her arms out from her chest as dozens of shards of rock explode from her body in every direction, injuring all creatures within 10' of her (including her own troglodyte to the right). Jillian, Thael, Father Emil, Caspan all take 3 damage, DC17 Reflex for half.

The two acolytes decide that they need to split the party and the best way to do that is to make them afraid. The both cast spells and try to get the party to run away. One spell is cast on Jillian and the other Father Emil. DC13 Will save or become frightened. Success means you are shaken for 1 round instead. Jillian is unaffected and Father Emil gets gets +4 to his save from Jillian's aura as well as +1 from Wren's bless spell.

Selde continued to steadily move backwards as she drew back the string of her bow. The arrow of flame seared the air for a moment before Selde loosed it at the trog leader.

5ft step back, standard action to attack leader with Produce flame bolt.

Selde's arrow flies towards center mass of the troglodyte leader clad in blue gems. Just as it is about to embed into her chest it hits an invisible barrier around the creature and falls to the ground in front of her instead.
