Gunnery:

"Full Attack" is for tactical combat.

Each gun on a starship can only fire once per round (barring boons or other rule breakers).

The 'full attack' equivalency in starship combat is "Fire at Will." However, this action requires TWO guns in the SAME arc: the gunner fires each gun once with a similar -4 penalty.

E.g. Fire a turret and a forward gun with one gunner.
E.g. Fire two port guns with one gunner.

For further clarification: you cannot fire at will in different arcs (e.g. forward arc and starboard arc) or fire guns with different arcs in the same direction (firing the starboard gun to the port with the port gun) as all gun directions are fixed except for the turret (and the pilot maneuvers fly by and potentially barrel roll can break the fixed arc rule).

Not that I'm complaining, but are you sure that's 1,000 EACH? Yeah that does seem like a strange distribution of the points.

Thank you for the notes section. These APs are shorter, so complicated records are slightly less important, but having a tracker helps. (if anyone is ever interested in large scale trackers, by all means steal my Giantslayer formatting.

I'll double check, but you're "half" way through part one of book one. There definitely aren't 6+ more encounters until the book says you should be level 2, and some of the encounters that are there are missable.

Plus the 400 was "bonus" XP. ...a lot of bonus.

I like the idea of starting with some spares, since these long-term campaigns tend to bleed players (some even in the couple weeks since application!).

What Del Knows:

A meteor crash-land about 10 or 20 miles from here. A group of folks went to scout it out—Cedona, Quorsica, and others—and they came back with some strange news. First, they learned that the meteor was some kind of high-tech probe, but it had been destroyed in the crash. Interestingly, the probe landed near an old crashed starship we hadn’t noticed before. Cedona talked to our leader, Madelon, and Aibretta our best mechanic about it.

A few days later, a starship sailed in above the town commons, blasted our communications building to slag, and unloaded a bunch of soldiers.

The soldiers rounded up everyone in town and their leader—a stern woman whose face I never saw—told us that our planet was now annexed as a part of the Azlanti Star Empire. Anyone that protested was shot right there. The soldiers made us bury the bodies, then forced us to unload some prefab building components, which they turned into a garrison in the center of town.

They rounded up Madelon, Cedona, and a few others and jailed them in the garrison. The large ship went away, but all the soldiers stayed.

You were working on an aquifer outside of town, so you were far enough away to not be rounded up and were able to run once the ship left but then you got lost.

You recognize Jellik from town. He's the husband of Aibretta.

So Del is hiding outside town, and very close to where this encounter just happens, and thus recognizes Jellik, knows the two after him are the enemy soldiers, and feels that since these newcomers are tossing grenades at his enemies, they are Del's friends, at least for now?

I will post my action as if the above is correct, sorry if I got it wrong.

(question: how long between the enemy starship arriving & rounding people up and now?).

I always thought rolling high = good, rolling low = bad.

Del asked if he could recharge his welder while we were talking.
If it was possible, then I imagine it is a generator (takes 1 minute per charge restored).
If so, Del would try to charge his 1 charge missing.
And, also, if possible, the 3 charges used by "U".
Is any of that possible?

That makes tons of sense - I've just seen different GMs rule differently on taking-20 for Stealth, so I wanted to have my roll in just in case :-)

Re: Take 20 on Stealth

You would have time to Take 20 on a skill, but Stealth makes it a little tricky on the Take 20 as the adverse effect is being seen and how do you know if you're hiding well enough? On the other hand, it could represent you positioning things and putting together a screen to enhance your stealth. On the other, other hand, I could apply a conditional modifier to your rolls if you role played doing such things.

For now, I'll allow those of you hiding to have taken 20.

I've always GMed it as taking 20 stealth means taking time to find the best hiding place, putting foliage on your head etc..
Didn't think of how do you know if you are hidden etc..
Maybe I'll reconsider and allow take 10's but not 20's?

Just a little tidbit Oonopidae is actually a family of spiders commonly known as goblin spiders!

It looks like the starship battle XP award is supposed to be divided, although it pushes your level 2 into part 3, and level 3 at the end of the book.
