Angry Magic Tree
|
"Oh!" Angry Magic Tree says, "I have some rope!" Pulling it out of her pack, she moves up to the edge of the pit and lowers it down. "If you can't climb up yourself, hold tight and I'll pull you up!" she calls down.
Tholl Sjogunsson
|
Still badly hurt Tholl, but revived, Tholl receives the healing from Alina's wand.
Thank you Garsita and Alina.
Then begins to try to climb Angry Magic Tree's rope.
Thank you too my Leshy friend!
If it's a DC10 or less to climb out with the rope, I'll take 10. If the climb is more difficult, I'll roll.
Once topside once more, I saw that coming, just not fast enough. That was nearly the death of me!
@GM - is the back door reachable, whilst avoiding the pit?
| GM Darren |
Now that the trap has been activated, you are all able to step around and edge in through the doorway
You enter the farmstead, A broken grandfather clock on the southern wall announces the hour with a distorted chime. Shards of glass carpet the western half of the room around a series of shattered display cases. Paintings and tapestries cover the walls from floor to ceiling.
Jagged rips and tears deface a grand painting of a heavily armored human woman slaying a red dragon - you deduce it must be Honaria.
The other artwork on the walls depicts portraits of men and women who bear a noticeable family resemblance to Remaio Alcasti.
In the Western half of the room, through the archway, thick rugs cover baseboards worn smooth by years of occupation. An unfinished meal sits on a polished oak table and overturned bookshelves chairs clutter the floor. Books and sheaves of parchment are stacked haphazardly in and around the fireplace, some charred beyond recognition.
Tholl Sjogunsson

Ever hail and hardy, Tholl is first through the door, despite his recent set back. He takes in the scene.
1st Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
2nd Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
He moves nearer to the fireplace and notices a wax seal with a pegasus motif on one of the papers in the fireplace, the motif matches the wax seal on the letter from Remaio.
Look here I bet this is what we need.
Tholl spends the next 29 minutes sorting through the mess. But finds lots of important proof related to Honaria.

Angry Magic Tree surveys the damage.

Garsita
|
perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
Garsita picks up the signet ring, and points out the other items.
Which of the items are reasonable to pick up and take with us? A mahogany case sounds like it's unlikely to be something we can carry.
perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
| GM Darren |
You can leave the case unless you want to be overencumbered!
Angry Magic Tree opens the door, which unfortunately for her, she didn't check beforehand. Before she can move out of the way a pitchfork, anchored on a rope swings down from the ceiling
Attack vs Angry AC: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28

Worse, the room contains four Kobolds who have clearly been hiding but now...well...Angry has made them Angry.

Before the battle, Good find Garsita! I think we should take everything we can possibly carry. It may all have special meaning to Remaio. And if left unattended it will likely be found and stolen by someone or thing.
Tholl is so busy looking at the paperwork, he doesn't even notice AMT opening the other door and is thusly caught off guard.
I moved myself nearer the fireplace where I would have likely been.
Alina Vladinescu

Let the boring chain hexing begin! I really can't wait til level 2
Startled by the sound of the pitchfork hitting her tree friend, Alina looks past her to see the first kobold. Out of reflex at seeing a hostile creature she narrows her eyes and glares at it.
Misfortune Hex at Yellow: Will save vs DC 14 or take lower of two rolls for all attacks/saves/skills for 1 round.
| GM Darren |
Misfortune Will Save: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (10) - 1 = 9
Yellow feels the mental anguish of misfortune wash over him.
Yellow lashes out at Angry with his spear

Are the kobolds all actually the colors of their tokens?
| GM Darren |
was just trying to differentiate them - are you struggling to see them on the map? Happy to listen to other ideas to make if easier for you.:-).
Aylanna
|
No problem with the tokens, I know colors are what we all ususally use heh. It's just that the actual color of a kobold matters for someone who might think about adding fire damage to all her allies on her next turn. So basically I'm asking what color are the kobolds?
| GM Darren |
the Kobolds are all red, although having read the Bestiary, I can't see any reference to colour affecting resist

Thanks Aylanna!
Not understanding the gibberish the creatures are speaking, Angry Magic Tree scowls as she takes out her battleaxe. "It's not nice to drop piTCHFORKS ON PEOPLE!" she yells, her voice getting louder as she gets angrier. Raising her axe over her head, she brings it down on the white kobold directly in front of her.

Slashing damage: 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8

GM, is the Comprehend Languages still up? (10 minute duration)
Garsita moves forward. She can't attack a kobold through the narrow doorway, so she instead helps Angry Tree's attack.
using A Bit of Luck; Angry Tree may roll twice and use the better result for any d20 rolls in the next round.
Aylanna
|
OK disregard my ramblings. I thought kobold NPCs would have the same energy resistance matching their scale color as the PC race. Silly me... heh
Angry Magic Tree
|
And it looks like the black kobold is up after Angry Magic Tree's attack is resolved.
| GM Darren |
The White Kobold stalls in fear as Angry's axe slashes through the dusty air of the farmstead. His last thought before the axe slices through his vital organs and his primeval brain falls silent is We should never have stayed
Blue steps over the body of his brethren and strikes at Angry trying to spear her side
Attack vs AC: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
but the sight of the White Kobold rent in two by Angry's axe means he can barely control his shaking and the spear misses by several inches
Thanks for patience folks. Tholl and Garsita are up!
Tholl Sjogunsson

Seeing the trouble, Tholl lets the papers he was reading fall from his hand, he grabs his flag and unfurls it and then begins a rhythmic chant.
Oh, Oh, Oh, Ha, Ha, Ha, Oh, Oh, Oh!
move - retrieve Flag; standard - Raging Song, Inspired Rage
Inspired Rage - Allies gain a +2 morale bonus to Strength and Constitution and a +1 morale bonus on Will saving throws, but also take a –1 penalty to AC.
While under the effects of inspired rage, allies other than the skald cannot use any Charisma-, Dexterity-, or Intelligence-based skills (except Acrobatics, Fly, Intimidate, and Ride) or any ability that requires patience or concentration.
Flagbearer - Allies gain a +1 morale bonus on attack rolls, weapon damage rolls, and saving throws against fear and charm effects.

I just noticed I've mysteriously disappeared from the initiative. I believe I used to be before 'Yellow'...If that's true I would have cackled again to extend the misfortune hex on it and make it roll twice, then try to hex Black (DC14)...BTW thank you to the kobolds for continuing to run towards the door one at a time so I always have a new one in line of sight to try and hex

I'm fine with calling this fight, if everyone else is.
Either way, Garsita will heal AMT. If we continue the details of the fight, she will heal him with her wand. If we call the fight, then Garsita will offer to heal her new leshy friend. If AMT has a healing wand, Garsita would use it on him, but if not, she is happy to use a charge off her own wand.

As a general rule, I have absolutely no problem sharing wand charges with level 1 characters. First adventure (or even second if the first is a 1PP adventure) you don't have the PP yet, and for some characters, there is another PP purchase that takes priority. Level 2, I share, I just gently suggest they buy their own soon.
