Kilarra falling gives Auryl a renewed sense of purpose. As the tiefling's breath starts to escape her lungs, the man's blade is like a deadly sigh, an extension of her wrath.
Caraid's 'attack' on the other hand is more like a whimper...
"Kilarra!" Piotra yells as the tiefling goes down. He makes a angry desperate swing, but the 'scientist' is too quick.
"Well for one, I'm stronger and quicker then you guys, so I get to do as I please," The doppelganger boasts, dodging Garrosh's shot, but a look of uncertainty flickers on its face as Auryl stabs it in the ribs, though Caraid's debris hit the table.
Rozalia glares at the doppelganger, furious. "So we're all just experiments to you, you nutjob!"
The doppelganger looks a little shaken by Rozalia's stern gaze.
The doppelganger gaze bores into Auryl as it lashes out with its claws with one claw catching Auryl in his abdomen.
Rozalia swiftly steps forward and channels energy from the earth, though it is too corrupted to be much help, as she lays her hands on Auryl's wound.
Caraid continues to imitate a chocolate tea pot...
Piotr tries to hit him again but the creature dodges too quickly.
The priest screams as the doppelganger starts tearing him apart. He tries to reply in kind, but his meager martial skills fail him.
"Well for one, I'm stronger and quicker then you guys, so I get to do as I please," The doppelganger boasts, dodging Garrosh's shot, but a look of uncertainty flickers on its face as Auryl stabs it in the ribs, though Caraid's debris hit the table.
"Therein lies the error of your ways - your arrogance will dictate your downfall!" - Garrosh roars, and shoots again.
"We’ll see about that," The doppelganger answers as it takes Auryl with its deadly claws, but they clank off his scalemail and shield.
Piotr is trying to take the thing down, but no luck.
Roz moves to cure Kilarra.
Caraid hurries into close combat as the creatures knife flies into his hand and he swings at the creature in front of him.
Garrosh does not relent, and continues firing arrow after arrow.
Seeing how ineffective his scimitar is against this wicked foe, Auryl steps back and drops his crescent blade. With a deep breath, he calls upon Sarenrae to cleanse the world of its festering injustice and just like that, a gout of flame escape his outstretched hand palm.
The doppelganger is caught by surprise at Auryl's sudden flame burst and gets rather singed. "Uh oh! Time to go!" The doppelganger exclaims, alarmed, as it makes a run for the door.
With the creature fleeing Cars is has a clear shot... and still misses.
As teh pithy creatue decides fire is bad, Piotr finally manages to get a swiping to connect.
Caraid throws debris at its fleeing back, but the debris fall short. Pitor however has more luck and manages to stab it in the back as it attempts to stagger off.
Piotr starts to flag behind, when Ann shouts "It is moving slowly. GET IT!" spurning her brother on to stab it in the back again.
This time Piotr runs it through and it collapses on the ground. "Too slow..."It groans before expiring.
The party finds on the doppelganger, keys. Rozalia realizes the dagger on the floor is magical and identifies it as a +1 dagger.
In one of the tubs is a bald, crippled humanoid creature with long, sharp teeth, and its pallid flesh is stretched tightly over its starved frame, with a red birthmark on the back of his left hand. ”Finish it.” The creature pleads with the party.”I have fallen so far that I cannot bear what I’ve become.”
A reasonably well kept set of surgeon tools lies on the surgery table, and Rozalia finds the bag on the table magical, identifying it as a handy haversack. Inside the bag is a pearl and a phylactery, which Rozalia identifies as a phylactery of faithfulness.
Garrosh looks back at his companions, then at the man asking to be put down, his bow at the ready - "Do you remember who you were..? Before?"
Rozalia identifies the pearl as a pearl of power (level 1). Archive of nethys is in error apparently...
"I used to be a holy man. Now I know I am a tainted abomination that I would have destroyed. Ironic isn't it?" The creature gives a bitter grimace. "And I hunger for live flesh..."
Piotr gives a half smile to the others as he gets back. "Is Kilarra going to be alright?" he asks Rozalia, his smile fading as he still sees her down.
For the man in the tub, he'll draw his sword again, but pause. "Is there anyone... you want us to tell? Anything?"
Ann is silent, but he feels the weight of her mind in his. Something about this feels a bit familiar... but not at the same time.
"Seems like she needs a bit more healing," Roz says as she cures Kilarra again.
"Part of me hates what I've become." The creature answers, "But the other part longs to feed on your flesh. I don't know how much longer I have before I lose control..."
"Okay" Piotr pulls his sword back "Goodbye" he add soflty before he slams his blade into the side of the man's head.
Kilarra's eyes shoot open. She groans and sits up, checking her body for breaks or serious injuries. "What a pitiful death that would've been, dying in a 4vs1. Thanks for the pickmeup."
The creature stares at the blade unflinchingly as it approaches and gives a relieved sigh as it penetrates its brain as it dies.
Auryl tears up as the poor creature's soul slips out of its mortal coil and towards the Great Beyond. It doesn't even matter to the priest who the creature was before all of this. What does matter is how what's going on here is desecrating the dignity of life, and it pains him, even if he couldn't express what so bothers him in such words.
He runs a hand over its face and closes its eyes. In silence, he looks at the remains for one more moment before saying his goodbyes with a rather solemn voice. "May the Good Gods above welcome you with open arms, whoever you were."
With a sigh, he then turns around to his companions and addresses the issue of Kilarra's wounds. "Rejoice in the warmth of life, my friends, and be blessed."
There is a sound buzzing wings and the party sees a spectral blue scarab on the six foot mirror. Then the scarab fades away.
"Brother the mirror is what we need to get past that eye."
"You're right." Piotr says after sheathing his sword and bowing his head to Auryl's prayer. Looking to the others, "Should we be worried about the blue bug thing or just carry it back to the shelter right now?"
"We need it right?" Caraid says, from where he has stood silently watching the scene unfold. "We could smash it afterwards?"
"Thank you." Replies Kilarra. "Well, is the mirror magical?"
Rozalia finds that the mirror is not magical.
"Okay then. Back to home base?" he'll see how heavy the thing is. "Since this thing is pretty important, maybe two of us should carry it back. Any volunteers?"
"I'll help." Caraid offers. "I can probably manage it by myself." Indeed, between his strong physique and weaves of invisible force, he doesn't seem to find lifting the mirror at all onerous.
Caraid and Piotr slowly haul the six foot mirror towards the barricade,passing by the man in stained yellow robes who greets them with a loud, "Zandalus sees!"
Captain York and his barricade guards, Peter and Barnes mouths fall open incredulously as Caraid and Piotr start dragging the mirror towards the barricade but quickly regain their composure and tap their crossbows twice on the barricade, the crossbows still levelled at the party.
Garrosh lowered his bow as Piotr ended the wretched thing's life, and watched in silence at Auryl's prayer.
He runs a hand over its face and closes its eyes. In silence, he looks at the remains for one more moment before saying his goodbyes with a rather solemn voice. "May the Good Gods above welcome you with open arms, whoever you were."
"Thank you for those words Auryl" - the half-orc adds, placing his hand on the man's shoulder, then turns to the others.
"You are probably right Piotr, and since it seems we have explored as much as we can on this side, it is best we double back with the mirror"

"We can't leave this man here - even if he is hostile, we need to apprehend him. Maybe he has relevant information" - he adds to the others.
