"My thanks for healing many of my wounds. As you can, I'm still a bit injured, mainly because I'm just awesome and covered in physical might, but I'm much stronger now, thanks to you!" he says to Baied.
This large, square room appears to have been a receiving room. Its ceiling extends upward in a high arch, from which dangle the remains of four candelabras on long chains. Great chunks of the floor have been torn free, leaving three gaping pits. Crudely skinned pelts lie in small piles strewn about the room.
Six of the...weak, creatures are mingling in the room, bowing to the mistress of thornes.

I forget Barm, do you have an ability that lets you combine cleave and vital strike? Normally vital strike is a specific standard action and thus, cannot be combined with cleave. Either way, you definitely kill both creatures.

Saint Gudule follows the others into the room and says a few words in a strange tongue to enhance the party.
SG casts Blessing of Fervor. DON'T FORGET IT PLEASE!
GM Zer0darkfire |
Trutzburg stabs into the devil, its spiked hide would normally deflect some of the blow, but thanks to Baied aligning the weapon to good, it passes right through. Up close, you can tell that the barbed devil is still seriously injured from the previous encounter and cannot take much more damage.
The nephilim enters the fray by swinging his longsword at one of the creatures guarding the devil.
longsword: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (2) + 18 = 20
damage: 2d6 + 11 ⇒ (1, 4) + 11 = 16
And he easily kills the one he was after.
Regnum fires his gun and also kills one of the smaller creatures.
The devil's readied action doesn't trigger since Baied never entered the room. She steps away from Trutzburg's reach weapon and casts a spell, vanishing once again. "Annoying mortals. You may have bested me today, but there won't be a next time."
The nephilim roars in frustration, "I will chase you down she-devil!"
The remaining small fries try to run, but are easily cut down by Barm's sword.
Combat Over!
The devil cast greater teleport, and can do so at will. She is no longer in the emerald spire.
GM Zer0darkfire |
You open the door to a hallway, then check and open the next door in in the hallway.
This heavy stone door was once adorned with carvings, but it has been vandalized to the point that its ancient runes are illegible. Inside the room you find a half-buried stash containing a masterwork healer’s kit, grain alcohol (three bottles worth 3 cp each), and a jar of restorative ointment.
At this point, there is nothing left to find, so you've completed floor 9!

****Level 10, The Magma Vault****
Gradually the stairs melt and widen until they’re little more than a broken ramp. As the passage descends the temperature rises, carrying with it the clinging, rotten smell of sulfur.

The cavern walls here are made from igneous rock, meaning magma or intense heat recently formed these tunnels.

Regnum Blastface |
"Great, time to burn to death."
Regnum waits for Barm to lead off into this new floor, weapon at the ready, ready to strike and attack anything, or anyone, who stands opposed to them.
Saint Gudule |
Saint Gudule joins the two skilled fighters and grins, putting his hands on his hips.
"Well, looks like the walls of fire I dropped earlier made some damage! HAHAHA!"
Saint Gudule |
Saint Gudule follows as well, not looking, keeping on babbling about how his magic is super-powerful now.
"... and I never thought I'd reach such a level of mastery from the little tricks I learned from the priests of Sarenrae! That's amazing and that reminds me that..."
Baied Eldourha |
You are really full ..of surprises, Gudule. Should we let you explore the rest of the Spire all by yourself, or are we allowed to follow you and stare in awe at your miracles and powers?
there is a faint smile on the priestess lips, but the words are said in good humor and not to harm
GM Zer0darkfire |
Heavily armored bodies lie strewn across this cavern, their black armor sundered. Brilliantly colored crystals jut out among the corpses.
DC 15
This armor looks like Order of the Nail armor, common at Fort Inevitable
DC 10
These crystals are crysmals (a creature), not natural formations.
Shortly after you enter, a a gemstone scorpion with scuttles out from the northeast, pursued by a floating sphere bristling with quivering blades and staring with a solitary eyeball. Neither seem immedaitely hostile towards you, but the bladed one appears hostile towards the scorpion.

"These crystals are creatures, crysmals, not natural formations. "
Barm takes his sword out.
GM Zer0darkfire |
Seeing you, the bladed creature retreats to the northeast.
To the northwest, you see a smallish cavern area that dead-ends. Supply packs and bedrolls lie strewn between rocky protrusions. Scattered cooking implements surround a vent near the rear of the chamber, which hisses a thin line of steam.
Regnum Blastface |

Regnum searched the packs and such for anything useful. Or even a clue to where the owners went, maybe?
GM Zer0darkfire |
The scattered gear includes three +1 halberds and four suits of Hellknight plate, but than this, there isn't anything of interest.

Saint Gudule just laughs in response of Baied's proposal. He stands in wonder, looking at the local fauna.

Barm leads on down the cavern tunnels.
Pale white and gray crystals cover this room in tightly packed formations, clustering in corners and around a central pillar.
DC 24
the crystals here are only the crysmals’ shiny waste—fragile and worthless.
Moving on to the next chamber.
A rotten smell from deep within the earth fills this wide cavern, rumbling through fissures and bubbling up from a river of magma coursing through the cave. A stony formation at the cave’s center forms an arching bridge over the fiery current. You notice collected clouds of gas swirling near the ceiling.
DC 16
Anyone who examines the bridge over the magma flow discovers it’s cracked in numerous places, however you believe that it’s probably safe to cross.

GM Zer0darkfire |
Been waiting to see if anyone was going to do anything here, didn't realize Barm already said he would cross. My bad there.
Barm crosses the bridge perfectly fine. He sees that there are two options here, right or left.
To the left, Rivulets of magma course down this cavern’s northern wall, melting plates of spiked black armor before draining into the rock. You actually see four human-like creatures this way, slumped over. In addition, you see the spiked ball creature floating around them, not doing much.
To the right, A wretched-smelling breeze rushes through this narrowing tunnel.
Regnum Blastface |
Regnum follows Barm across, trusting that it will support his weight as much as it did for Barm.
"The ball or the smell?" Regnum asks him, pointing his musket at each of the tunnels in turn.
GM Zer0darkfire |
As you get closer, the bladed ball stabs into some of the bodies, but never one in particular (female). The ball then uses this blood to write on the walls. "HELP" is the first thing scrawled on the wall.
