I can cast communal protection from evil, but we would get essentially one minute of coverage. My other useful skill is that I can touch a wall/door for a minute and see through it Door Sight

Kije frowns. "Enora," he calls, "Could you take a look at these? I'm picking up a lot of magical auras in the area, but can't make sense of any of them except the illusion down that hallway." He points back towards where the blades of force recently dropped him, then continues to point out the other auras he detected to Enora (and anyone else interested in using detect magic).

Using her Wayfinder to cast detect magic, Rose looks over those areas neither of the better casters have figured out...

"Nope, i get nothing clear enough to figure out what kind of magic on those that were undetermined.
So, are we ready to proceed? Are we going to readjust our order in the hallways?"
Izabela
|
After far too long of madding silence, Izabela finally explodes.
"Okay, what the hell are we going to do?! We can't just sit here in this cramped little room waiting for something to come find us! Enora, you said the door down there has illusion magic on it? Then it may be, oh I don't know, an illusion! So let's not go there. That leaves either going back into the giant hallway of 'Hell No' or going through that door over there. Personally, I'd rather go through that door than risk going back down that hallway. Now, move you lazy idiots!!!"
Also, why were the DCs to detect the schools of magic all different? Isn't it always DC 20? Oh, would you look at that? I'm wrong.
| GM Picatrix |
Oh, would you look at that? I'm wrong.
You learn a Pathfinder-related something new every day, huh? :) I apologize this scenario has probably been more on the stressful side so far. I'm ready for you guys to tell me your next move.

"If we think its safe, I'll take a look through the door", Edmunds croaks out- trying to forget the image of his companions hand stuck in the mimic.
Perception, before touching door: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (3) + 11 = 14
Walking forward to the door identified by Izabela, he crouches down and gently places his hand against the metal. He focuses his energy on the other side of the door- taking his time to obtain as much detail as possible before dropping his hand and returning to the others.
Perception, after touching door: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (12) + 11 = 23
"So.. from what I could gather..."
Door Sight (Su): You can lay your hand upon any surface and see what is on the other side, as if using clairvoyance. Using this power takes 1 minute, during which time you must be touching the surface you want to see through. You can keep looking for as long as 10 minutes with each use of this power, but must touch the surface and take no other action the entire time. The surface cannot be thicker than 6 inches plus 1 inch per cleric level you possess. You can use this power a number of times per day equal to 3 + your Wisdom modifier.

Pale white walls covered in seemingly random splotches of pastel paint comprise the only decoration in this otherwise empty room. In the center of the room is a pedestal with a single glowing shard lying atop it. A dazzling bright light shines from nowhere in particular.
The door appears to be locked. However, the locks and hinges were damaged when the temple sank into the ground. (Disable Device, STR check, or smash the door with adamantine)

Rose reaches into a pouch and pulls out fine set of tools.
"Shall I?
Anyone able to give a bit of divine aid? I find the various Gods all give guidance even to those who do not follow them."
Disable: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (20) + 15 = 35
Quietly, she returns the picks to her pouch after she takes a try at the door....
| GM Picatrix |
Rose is able to quickly bypass the damaged door hinges and locking mechanism.
Door's unlocked (and open if you want it to be). What's your next move?
Kije
|
"Well, there's no use just sitting here," Kije says at last. "Let's open the door - with a long stick - and see if that's what Valaius is looking for." He makes no move to open the door himself though.
Izabela
|
Izabela nods. She lunges at the door from 15’ away and uses 5’ of her whip to grasp at the handle and then pulls open the door, releasing the whip’s grasp on the door once it’s open. Use of Improved Whip Mastery combined with Lunge to increase my reach.
| GM Picatrix |
The door is officially open. Please place your tokens in your desired marching order in front of the door, or inside the room if your character goes in.
Izabela
|
Done. I definitely shouldn’t be in the front, but that was the closest that I could be to do what I did.
| Enora - Iconic character |
”Izabela! That was great! Are ... are you still injured?! I have a wand!“
Izabela

Izabela, barely even noticing her wounds, casts a spell and they close. Converting a shield of fortification into cure moderate before she opens the door.

Rose does not perceive anything amiss. She does notice, scratched on the walls in what might be dried blood, more phrases in Hallit:
I just realized I forgot two detect magic auras. Besides the three previously noted several posts back, there are:

Spellcraft: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (16) + 13 = 29
Whip: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (20) + 18 = 38 Not a nat 1
Without much forethought and planning--and definitely no explanation--Izabela grabs the shard with her whip and inserts it into her wayfinder.
Man, I need to remember that part of Improved Whip Mastery more often.
| GM Picatrix |
"Yoink!" says Izabela without even realizing it as she deftly and impressively snatches the shard from its pedestal.
Upon stepping into the room she also starts feeling inexplicably euphoric... (WILL save needed from Izabela)
Izabela

Will: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (10) + 12 = 22
Rhosalth “Rose” Shadowblade
|
Rose walks into the room to get a better look around.
"Can I take a look at that stone you snatched? I want to see if I can gather any info about the Fellow we are after from it. You can have it back, unless we need it to destroy him."
Linguistics: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
Rose takes a closer look at the writing on the walls.
Preemptive Will Save: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16 (+2 if mind effecting)
Izabela
|
Izabela scowls but reluctantly hands over the shard to Rose.
You can learn historical significance, but nothing truly useful because Izabela was the last person to use it. Curse Izabela’s capriciousness!
Edmund DeCarth
|
Cautiously, Edmund steps into the room as the other pathfinder enter. He stays towards the edge of the room- keeping one hand on his bow and eyes alert.
| GM Picatrix |
Rose and Edmund cautiously enter the room, and they too both start feeling strangely euphoric. Rose is envisioning the happiest moments of her life!
WILL save from Edmund, please, and anyone else who might enter the room.
What's everyone else doing?
Kije
|
As he rounds the corner, Kije furrows his brows as he concentrates on detecting magical effects. What is going on in there? he wonders.
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (11) + 11 = 22
GM - If more rolls need to be made, feel free to do so for me using the above modifiers. I don't know what's needed, so I'm throwing spaghetti at the wall and seeing what sticks.

Will Save: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18
Visions of Edmund's childhood home streak through his mind. The smell of freshly cut and oiled wood. His mother's laughter. The sound of his father's axe...
| GM Picatrix |
Kije attempts to detect what's magically going on in the room. Besides the auras detected through the closed door, there are new auras on Rose and Edmund. He's not sure what's going on with Rose...
knowledge arcana: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22...but Edmund has an enchantment aura that was not there before.
What's everyone else doing?
Rhosalth “Rose” Shadowblade
|
Rose remembers the first day she met Screech, then she smiles , really smiles for the first time that you've seen.... The memory must be good.....
Kije
|
"Enora...?" Kije says to the halfling beside him. "Are you seeing the same auras I'm seeing? Look, there's an enchantment on Edmund that wasn't there a moment ago."
Remember that since we are out of combat we can Take 10 on skill checks. Kije's skills aren't high enough to guarantee success, but Enora's might be.
| Enora - Iconic character |
Enora casts detect magic and checks the auras.
Spellcraft and Kn arcana take 10 for 25 both.
Izabela
|
Izabela continues holding out the shard for Rose. When Rose doesn’t take it she forcefully waves it in front of Rose’s face—and when she doesn’t take it again Izabela slaps her across the face in annoyance. Hoping that that’ll grant a new save or something...
| GM Picatrix |
Edmund and Rose are in the room, hallucinating euphorically. Izabela is there too, but not hallucinating, and just slapped Rose. (Looks like that would indeed grant a new save versus this particular effect: Rose please make another WILL save)
Kije and Enora are standing in the hallway, trying to figure out what’s going on magically (Rose and Edmund have an enchantment aura).
What would everyone like to do now? I'll probably start botting soon to keep the scenario moving.
Tiki.
|
Tiki is waiting just outside the room to see if the attempts at snapping the others out of their state is successful.
Our options appear to be, walk into the room, exposing ourselves to whatever is causing people to lose themselves, or go back the previous way where there are other traps. I'd like to see how this plays out a bit.
Rhosalth “Rose” Shadowblade

In her mind, Rose remembers squatting down and hugging the hatchling Drake and then the Drake tried to bite her ear off.

Seeing that Rose comes out of the trance.
”Wow, maybe Edmund would also like to be slapped?!“
Enora pokes him hard with her staff.
Izabela
|
Izabela shrugs and happily slaps Edmund.
Kije
|
Getting asked to slap people? #BestDayOfIzabela'sLife
If Izabela is able to rouse Edmund and Rose from their trance, Kije will take his chances and step into the room as well...
Will: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
...and fall into the same trance. Izabela, if you would be so kind?
| Enora - Iconic character |
Enora is still waiting to see if there are other dangers ahead.
”What is causing these enchantments?!?“
Izabela
|
Facepalm Can we just assume that Izabela will keep slapping people until they make their saves?

Wisdom Save: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15

Face red from several of Izabella's slaps, the image of his childhood home at the edge of the wood fades from his mind. Blinking, he looks about the room- seeing an annoyed Izabella along with Kijie and others. Putting two and two together, he steps back out of the room.
"Is what we found worth it?"
Rhosalth “Rose” Shadowblade

If Rose snaps out of it, she'll take the gem and study it. She'll relay any information she gets as well as the description of what the gem does, if anything....
Izabela

You can learn historical significance, but nothing truly useful because Izabela was the last person to use it. Curse Izabela’s capriciousness!
FYI
| GM Picatrix |
Unfortunately, if the creature under the effect is attacked (slapped) and gets/makes a new save, the effect is suppressed for one round as they back away from their attacker. Then the effect kicks in again. There's no way (besides break enchantment) to fully stop the effect.
| GM Picatrix |
After a minute and a half (slapped or no), Rose's Edmund’s, and Kije's euphoric hallucinations suddenly transform into horrific visions! New WILL save needed from those three
Rhosalth “Rose” Shadowblade
|
As the visions change from what she saw before she was awakened, it's a shock to her mind. What Rose now saw was her worst nightmare, Screech was being drawn and quartered. That was bad enough, but her Lord himself, Apsu was crumbling into Dust, leaving Rose in tears and horrified...

Will: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
Reroll - Will: 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 7 + 1 = 20
I'm pretty sure we wouldn't just sit around waiting for Izabela to slap us once the first person fell back into a trance. Would anyone like to open the door on the other side? Otherwise Kije's moving back into the hallway.
