Xiao Katsu |
I do not know why but I cannot open the map on the phone, only at my computer. Can you please move Xiao with a double move in the direction of the captain please.
Salazar the Boar |
Salazar continues to swing his tusks at the very angry very dangerous looking woman in front of him.
Gore - Power Attack: 1d20 + 5 - 1 ⇒ (8) + 5 - 1 = 12 for Piercing + P.A.: 1d6 + 3 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 + 3 = 7
Dexter and Salazar |
Dexter pulls out a small for everyone else but normal for him bladed weapon and points it at the bleeding beast. "I'll put it out of its misery, worry about the Captain."
With a slash, he attempts to open up the monster's gullet.
Move to draw Scimitar, Standard to attack Trollhound.
Scimitar + Prone vs. Helpless AC: 1d20 + 3 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 3 + 4 = 25 for Slashing: 1d4 ⇒ 1
Crit Threat 18-20 Confirm?: 1d20 + 3 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 3 + 4 = 27 for Slashing: 1d4 ⇒ 3
GM zebeev |
Pai DC 10 Acrobatics: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
Xiao DC 10 Acrobatics: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11
Both Pai and Xiao carefully make their way down the greased stairs down into the hold.
Uaine's eagle flies to the Captain and attacks viciously, but fails to score a single hit.
Salazar follows up with a gore attack that also misses its mark.
Dexter slits the throat of the foul four-legged beast, but as soon as he cuts the skin, he notices other cuts on it's disgusting body close up, almost as if it was in response.
Once Sandokar goes, the Captain will act, and everyone will be up once more.
Sandokar |
The warpriest takes a path behind him and casts a spell.
It's dangerous to let you with these knives. You could hurt yourself. Drop them on the floor.
I cast a Command DC 15. In swift action I use a fervor point to heal.
Fervor: 1d6 ⇒ 2
Salazar the Boar |
Sal continues his onslaught, happy to see fewer sharp things in his face.
Gore - Power Attack: 1d20 + 5 - 1 ⇒ (10) + 5 - 1 = 14 for Piercing + P.A.: 1d6 + 3 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 + 3 = 8
Dexter and Salazar |
Dexter looks intently at the beast for a weak spot and then makes a quick cut to the gut, attempting to liberate innards. (Coup de Grace full round action)
Crit Damage Roll: 2d4 ⇒ (4, 3) = 7 and if not dead from that, Fort Save DC 17 or is 100% dead.
Pai Shecks |
"Ah, finally!" Pai relishes the release of her power, calling forth lightening to blast outward from her palms, passing over the prone beast and Salazar the Boar, and...
Electric blast vs. Touch AC: 1d20 + 6 - 4 ⇒ (4) + 6 - 4 = 61d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
-4 for firing into melee
...failing to connect with the Captain's torso as planned. Pai's bright peach ears flush deeper with embarrassment. Why the fudge am I so useless tonight? What is going on?!
Xiao Katsu |
Xiao starts casting a sleep spell.
1 round casting time.
Sandokar |
GM wrote: Wardak, DC 15 Will: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
The captain shakes off Uaine's attempt to cloud her mind, as her seething rage to defend her boat keeps her fixated on the task at hand.
@GM: with my two Favor points used I remain now with 1 HP less than the maximum.
GM zebeev |
The captain looks behind her at the licking flames, then down towards her weapons. She sighs, and darts to the floor to pick up her kukris, which prompts an attack from Salazar. His tusks gore her side, and she lets out a cry of pain. Grabbing her kukris, she brandishes at those who surround her, but that's not before they dart in with attacks of their own.
(Also triggers an AoO at the top of Round 6 from Sandokar and Uaine's eagle.)
NOTES: Uaine still has her turn from Round 5 to take.;
Captain Wardak has taken 16 damage;
Trollhound is still unkillable by conventional weaponry (and slowly regenerating each round).
Everyone is up.
Xiao Katsu |
Xiao ends his sleep spell and positions it in the far corner of the room.
The allied summoned eagle and the red girl are affected. DC 16 will save or asleep.
* * *
Xiao also summons a celestial eagle by using his arcane reservoir.
The summoned celestial eagle attacks the captain again with its smite.
Bite, flank: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 3 + 2 = 23
Bite damage, smite: 1d4 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 2 + 1 = 4
Talon 1, flank: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 3 + 2 = 25
Talon damage, smite: 1d4 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 2 + 1 = 5
Crit confirm Talon 1, flank: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 3 + 2 = 13
Crit confirm Talon damage, smite: 1d4 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 2 + 1 = 4
Talon 2, flank: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 3 + 2 = 9
Talon damage, smite : 1d4 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 2 + 1 = 6
Salazar the Boar |
Salazar continues his attack, pushing extra hard with the added advantage of the distracting mass of eagles.
Gore - Power Attack + Flank: 1d20 + 5 - 1 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 5 - 1 + 2 = 25 for Piercing + P.A.: 1d6 + 3 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 + 3 = 8
Salazar was healed by Dexter a ways back, he should be -3.
Dexter and Salazar |
Dexter looks down in amazement as the creature continues to heal itself, what did that guy say? Use fire? I guess it can't hurt to try...
He stows his sickle to his belt and with a plea, "spirits of nature, grant me your wrathful flame," and summons a small ball of fire into his hand.
Move to put scimitar away, Standard to Cast Produce Flame.
Sandokar |
AoO, right dagger: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
Confirm crit. AoO, right dagger: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Then he continues in a full attack against her.
Right dagger: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
Left dagger: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
Damage AoO right dagger: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Damage Holy Strike: 1d6 ⇒ 2
Pai Shecks |
Inhaling slowly and deeply through her delicate nose, Pai attempts to quell the flutters of anxious inadequacy. Setting her features in an expression of determination, she lets loose with a hefty blast of electricity, aimed at the Captain.
Electric blast vs. Touch AC: 1d20 + 6 - 4 ⇒ (13) + 6 - 4 = 151d6 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
GM zebeev |
The party's continuous assault on the captain drops her - Sanokar's knife plunges between her ribs, and she falls to the floorboards in a clump.
Beyond where she was standing, in her quarters, you can clearly see now that there is a fire in an iron brazier that's been bolted to the floor, and it is quickly getting out of hand.
Given that Dexter has create water prepared, he can easily conjure up 6 gallons of water to douse the fire before it spreads to the rest of the cabin quarters and possibly the rest of the ship.p
Same goes for the trollhound problem - his produce flame will deal the final lethal damage needed to finally kill it for good, which eliminates the last threat, effectively ending the combat - and along with it - the scenario!
Searching the captain, you find a key ring that just happens to be for the manacles that bind the slaves to the chains on the starboard wall.
Sifting through the brazier, there's very little left of whatever documents that the Captain was burning - with a bit of looking, you find one corner of a letter that had yet to burn, and on it you see some handwriting - you can make out that the letter was signed "Muhlia."
Having freed the slaves, and seized the At Sea from the Okeno slaver-pirates, you head topside, and call down to Zigil the harbor pilot.
She dutifully navigates the ship through the Ship Graveyard safely to the docks, where city officials greet you, board, and take custody of the vessel.

Upon returning to the Grand Lodge, Rilla the gnome druid recounts what she can to Venture-Captain Valsin and you all - about her time spent in the Okeno slave markets on Stonespire Island, confirming several interactions with a heavily veiled humanoid woman who forcibly took blood samples on two occasions.
When Rilla inquires as to the fate of the other Pathfinders she was on assignment with, Venture-Captain Valsin closes his eyes and slowly shakes his head. "No contact..." is all he can say on the matter.

Reporting back to Lady Darchana, she is most pleased with your success, but also deeply troubled by the implications.
"Muhlia, you said?" Lady Darchana's eyes narrow at the mention of the name."Pasha Muhlia Al-Jakri. A thorn in the Society's backside, I'm afraid. I should have known it was her behind all this."
Lady Darchana has the bounty payment on Captain Wardak and the At Sea authorized, and a moment later, an attendant comes back with a small chest. She addresses you once more before dismissing you. "Pathfinders, you have done a great service to Absalom today. The full extent, understandably, may never be widely known or recognized by the sleeping masses, but know that the Pathfinder Society can count on me as a friend and ally, and I hope that I may call upon you again in the future should the need arise."
And with that, we come to the end of the scenario! If there's any questions, any behind-the-scenes things you're curious about, feel free to ask away!
It'll be Monday before I can rustle up Chronicles, so in the mean time, just double check and ensure that the necessary information is correct in the Discussion thread!
Xiao Katsu |
Xiao bows to Lady Darchana.
"It is most troubling that so many forces are trying to undermine each other. I am happy that we were able to free many of the slaves and I would also be happy if you could support to remind the nobles here in town that it is not the slave business is distasteful. This help you to prevent further attempts at spying and will eventually help the slaves! Where there is no demand ... there hopefully is no supply!"
Pai Shecks |
The warmth of relief and accomplishment washes through Pai's diminutive form as she helps escort the slaves to safety. She gives each of them her contact info in case they need someone to help them get back on their feet or arrange passage home. The itch to get back out there and make a difference again is strong in her; she's already looking forward to her next mission.
Sandokar |
Once again his right dagger found the heart of the evil lord. The right and the pathfinder society won once again. No doubt this one won't be the last time the warpriest will be on the path of the evil lords, for the society, for the deity.
Dexter and Salazar |
Dexter smiles and recounts his last mission. "So we got sent on a simple aid mission to help some archaeologists with an ancient dig. Turns out, they managed to uncover some sort of wrath cult. Before we got there, beasts burst out of this ancient temple and dragged most of the workers inside. We wasted no time rushing in to the rescue. Sadly only a few of them were still alive, but we did put an end to the evil cultists. I'm sure there are more out there but at least we wiped out that group."
Dexter and Salazar |
Dexter shrugs mischievously, "maybe, there were definitely shadows and a lot of wrath flying around. Oooh, do you want to hear the one about where I solved a disease epidemic in a village by simply restoring their water source to the natural stream that filtered out the toxins?"
