[PBP Gameday VII] [PACG] Assault on Absalom by Box Runner Dinketry [Tier 2] (Inactive)

Game Master dinketry

During This Campaign:
At the start of this adventure, choose whether you wish to count the adventure for purposes of tier advancement. If you choose not to count this adventure as tier advancement, you do not gain feats as provided in the Guide, but you do gain scenario rewards and deck upgrades as normal.
This adventure does not use traders.
Do not read any scenario’s villains or henchmen before playing it.
If you are dead at the end of a scenario, you may play another character for the next scenario.
If you fail a scenario, immediately replay it.
When playing this adventure in Tier 2, the scourge die is 1d6; in Tier 5, the scourge die is 1d8+1.
Any character may bury a card that has the Healing trait, an ally, or a blessing to give a displayed or buried Reinforcements support card to another Pathfinder Adventure Card Guild table that does
not have one displayed or buried.

During This Scenario:
Before setting out locations, choose the Dark Archive or the Grand Lodge. When possible, choose one that the table has not yet completed.
  • Dark Archive: Add the locations Great Library of Tephu and Guardian Vault, and use the villain Velriana Unborn. If the Great Library of Tephu or the Guardian Vault is open, the difficulty of checks to defeat monsters is increased by the scenario’s adventure deck number. When playing this adventure in Tier 5, the difficulty of checks against Velriana Unborn is increased by 6.
  • Grand Lodge: Add the locations Ghoul Square and Sea Fort, and use the villain Devoted General. At the start of your turn, roll 1d4; if the result is less than the number of characters, you are dealt 2 Ranged Combat damage. When playing this adventure in Tier 2, the difficulty of checks against the Devoted General and Kor-Ahn Tuk are decreased by 6.

  • 9-00B Reward:

For the rest of the Adventure, 1 character may temporarily replace 1 item in her deck with the loot item Game of Afterlife and 1 character may temporarily replace 1 spell in his deck with the spell Remove Curse. At the end of the scenario, return the cards to the game box.

    Dark Archive Faction Condition Effective!:
For the rest of the adventure, when you encounter a non-villain bane that has the Undead trait, you may recharge a card to evade your encounter or to ignore its power that happens before you act.

This table DOES NOT HAVE a Reinforcements card.
    Reinforcements:
On your check, after the roll, you may bury this card to add 1d8. You may bury this card; each character shuffles a random card from his discard pile into his deck. You may bury this card to shuffle 1d4+1 random cards from your discard pile into your deck. At the end of the scenario, give this card to another Pathfinder Adventure Card Guild table that does not have one displayed or buried.

    Nok-Nok's Deck Handler

I'll start at the Dilapidated Plaza, and head to the Dye Market as soon as I have three different types of boons in hand. I think Nok-Nok will be the only one going there this game, what with the combination of scenario and location special rules.

Should we keep the Ghoul Square for the end? That's up to three monsters we may have to beat twice.

    Arabundi Deck Handler

I guess I'll start at the Alchemical Lab. As long as I have a spell, I can reduce the Acid damage for the overkill. We also want this closed before the Sea Fort. The close will be tough for me, I'll need at least 1 blessing.

    Nok-Nok's Deck Handler

Gimry, why do you say we want the Lab closed before the Fort?

Also, the Overseer just gave us a free weapon, armor, or item when starting the game. If you guys choose armor, it could either help you with the SOT damage or to close the Fort.

    Grand Lodge

    What weapon did Aric get?:
    Weapon C (Fire Lance).

Sorry folks, no wonderful options there. So the final upgrade possibilities list is:

    Sebti the Crocodile (Ally 1)
    Black Kiss (Ally 1)
    Pahmet Clansman (Ally B)
    Shield Cloak (Armor 1)
Blessing of the Ancients (Blessing B)
Blessing of the Elements (Blessing B)
Blessing of the Ancients (Blessing B)
    Crowbar (Item C)
    Crowbar (Item C)
    Acid Splash (Spell B)
    Kopis (Weapon B)
    Djinni Quarterstaff (Weapon B)
    Chakram (Weapon B)
    Corrosive Dagger +1 (Weapon B)
    Fire Lance (Weapon C)
    Shotel (Weapon B)
    Icy Longspear +1 (Weapon C)

It appears that the first deck upgrade is set:

  • Arabundi - Item B
  • Aric - Armor 1 (probably)
  • Nok-Nok - Ally 1

Aric, you didn't roll for the Armor 1 but indicated that it was your preferred first upgrade. Nok-Nok, you indicated that the Ally 1 was your preferred 1st upgrade and hence won it. You did roll for the Armor 1, however. Are you ok with how this sorted out?

I'm not sure what the second upgrade is going to be for all y'all because I need Arabundi to indicate what his second upgrade will be. As there are only 2 items in the list, if he chooses item, then he will need to roll off against Aric.

  • Arabundi Deck Handler

Making Monsters 2 easier, which is what the fort does on closing, increases the odds that we overkill the monster in the Lab is all. It's not a huge deal because there is only potentially 2 monsters in there and no guarantee either of them is a ship or Aquatic.

    Arabundi Deck Handler

Did we see Arics weapon upgrade? I assume it was another weapon b?

    Grand Lodge

    Ninja'd by Arabundi! Twice!

    (See above)

    Arabundi Deck Handler

I'll take the Item B (Spyglass to replace Flight Arrows) and a Weapon B (Chakram to Replace Dagger) and an Armor from the Exchange

    Nok-Nok's Deck Handler

Great, Dink. My second upgrade is going to be a Blessing B (since there are 3 of those, no chance of not getting one). Do you need to know the names of the cards I got?

    Grand Lodge

No, no need for specific card names. Just types. All the stuff that goes on your chronicle sheet at the end of this is what I need.

    Second upgrade:

  • Arabundi - Weapon B
  • Aric - Item B
  • Nok-Nok - Blessing B

    Starting locations:

  • Arabundi - Alchemical Laboratory
  • Aric - Sea Fort (???)
  • Nok-Nok - Dilapidated Plaza

    Gift (Exchange Faction) card preferences:

  • Arabundi - Armor
  • Aric - Armor
  • Nok-Nok - ???

    Turn Order??? (as per previously):

  • Arabundi
  • Nok-Nok
  • Aric

I'll post your Exchange faction gift cards in the Gameplay thread once you've all confirmed and clarified the above and posted your starting hands in the Gameplay thread.

  • Grand Lodge

Just awaiting Aric's final upgrade #2 selection.

    Male Human Vigilante Deck Handler

going for Ally 1 and Armor 1. Gift will be armor, fine with turn order.

    Grand Lodge

Congrats, all. The 'permanently closed' condition at the Alchemical Laboratory isn't applicable now that the scenario is over, of note.

This success is being reported as a Grand Lodge success, even though the Grand Lodge (and all of the other factions) has completed their faction mission. There's no extra reward for completing the scenario, but it does count for Tier progression.

Aric - by my notes, this was your sixth scenario in Tier 1. You tier up to Tier 2 by default and gain a die bump. The other two have completed 3 scenarios in their tier - no feats for you, sadly.

Everyone can choose a deck upgrade from the below. I'm checking to see if the bonus cards added to your decks from Faction Mission completions add to this list - and oh my, they do! Well, that changes things, slightly...here's the edited list:

  • Armor of the Sands - Armor C
  • Potion of Healing - Item B
  • Crocodile Skin Lamellar - Armor B
  • Find Traps - Spell B
  • Torch - Weapon B
  • Explorer’s Staff - Weapon B
  • Fire Ward Gel - Item B
  • Armor of the Sands - Armor C
  • Black Kiss - Ally 1
  • Marianix Karn - Ally B
  • Qasin - Ally 2
  • Blessing of Maat - Blessing 2
  • Blessing of Thoth - Blessing 1
  • Blessing of Abadar - Blessing B
  • Mistmail - Armor 2
  • Alchemist’s Shield - Armor 2

    *Portable Sarcophagus - Armor P
*Not available to choose as an upgrade due to its promotional status, sorry.

Good luck with that bevy of choice!

  • Male Human Vigilante Deck Handler

Now that Aric is tier 2, I can grab some fancier stuff, even if I wanted an Item.

    1. Ally 2 1d1000 ⇒ 903
    2. Armor 2 1d1000 ⇒ 856
    3. Item B 1d1000 ⇒ 982

    boon: 1d20 ⇒ 4

    Nok-Nok's Deck Handler

I thought replaying scenarios didn't advance Tier progression for characters?

    Con Boon: 1d20 ⇒ 1

    Deck upgrades, in order:
    Blessing 2: 1d1000 ⇒ 198
    Ally 2: 1d1000 ⇒ 545
    Armor 2, otherwise.

    Nok-Nok's Deck Handler

    Woo, Con Boon!

I'll take Reward #3, Sea Legs.

    Grand Lodge

Oops - Nok-Nok is correct about Tier advancement.

Aric, you can still choose to Tier up at this point, but you wouldn't get the Die Bump.

If you don't choose to Tier up, then you wouldn't be able to take an AD2 card. Nok-Nok, are you already Tier 2? You couldn't take an AD2 card as an upgrade if you weren't. Congrats on the boon!

    Sea Legs boon:
Sea Legs: When you would fail a combat check against a bane that has the Aquatic trait, you may cross out this reward to reroll the dice and add 1d6; take the new result.

BRs Deserve Boons, Too!: 1d20 ⇒ 4 Guess not...

    Arabundi Deck Handler

    Boon Me: 1d20 ⇒ 8
    Oh well.

    I'd like to request:

    Armor 2 (As an Armor 1): 1d1000 ⇒ 427
    Blessing 1: 1d1000 ⇒ 796

    Nok-Nok's Deck Handler

Yes, Nok-Nok is already Tier 2.

    Male Human Vigilante Deck Handler

So, as Aric is not tier 2, I’ll pick this instead : Item B (no roll since no one wants it). I’ll replace Signal Whistle with a Spyglass.

    Grand Lodge

We are due to shift to Part 3 either today or early tomorrow, so I'm not going to suggest we start another scenario at present...get your decks ready for Part 3!

    Arabundi Deck Handler

Roger that. I'll be replacing my Gambeson with Wolfhide Armor. I'll update my deck this evening. I assume it's only the 1 card upgrade for the scenario?

    Nok-Nok's Deck Handler

I replaced my last Blessing of the Gobs with a Blessing of Zon-Kuthon.

    Grand Lodge

    Correct, Arabundi.

    Grand Lodge

I'm still unable to edit the 'Campaign Info' tab of our pages, so I've been unable to update and add all of the active conditions, or update the Scenario conditions or the status of the Reinforcements. I'll try to do so in the info at the start of my game post.

Please ignore the header info in the meantime until I tell you that I have updated it (though the Dark Archive Faction Condition is still active).

    Thanks!

    Arabundi Deck Handler

This looks like it will be painful. I'll start at the Fog Bank since I tend to be pretty slow getting through decks and that has the least ramifications being open the longest.

    Nok-Nok's Deck Handler

Nok-Nok will also start at the Fog Bank, since that's the only location that doesn't have SoT or painful effects.

I guess we shouldn't go to Tempest Cay at the same time as Raker Shoals/ Shipwreck Graveyard.

If I draw my Spider or if one of you wants to hand me off an Ally, I'm willing to head of to the Sharkskin Reef, the sharks don't really bother me.

Should we try all heading to the Raker Shoals at the same time? That would mean less turns having the SoT Structural damage.

    Male Human Vigilante Deck Handler

I’ll probably head to Tempest Cay to grab Allies to have some more to banish for the Sharkskin Reef. Aric also has Knowledge at d8+2, that’s 1/2 chance of succeeding on the close. We might want to focus on this location.

Fog Bank just hinder my character too much as he rely on examining to switch to the correct character.

Also, do enemy ships are found as Monsters or Barriers? Or Henchmen-villain maybe?

    Nok-Nok's Deck Handler

In S&S, there are barriers and henchmen which summon ships, but ships themselves don't count as either monsters or barriers and aren't shuffled directly into decks. Not sure how it'll work out here.

    Nok-Nok's Deck Handler

Gimry - if Arabundi isn't too attached to his Fox, he could hand it off to Nok-Nok and I can start going through the Sharkskin Reef.

    Arabundi Deck Handler

Aric mentioned he might need it to close his location. Swiper's become pretty popular all of a sudden :)

    Nok-Nok's Deck Handler

masaru, don't forget the Sovereign Court Faction already gives 1d4 or 1d8 to every check to acquire allies (which will be useful at most one more time only in this scenario...)

Nok-Nok will head to Tempest Cay for that Porcupine (and hopefully, won't try to ride it this time). If I get (un?)lucky enough to find a Henchman, I still have my Quick-Change Mask to try and close.

    Nok-Nok's Deck Handler

Arabundi would have had to recharge the Plunder weapon when closing the location, so your initial hand would have been correct.

Interestingly for Nok-Nok, if all Henchmen are Shipwrecks, he auto-defeats them everywhere except the Tempest Cay (where it's 2+ on a d10).

    Arabundi Deck Handler

Nok-Nok speaks the truth. I should have drawn the weapon into my hand before the close check to recharge my hand. So the Khopesh should be recharged and the falcon in hand.

    Grand Lodge

Yup - that makes sense (the Falcon thing).

Ooooh! Aric gets the Silver Crusade Favor to start his turn! Oooooh! And a Hammerhead Shark that he has to defeat!

    Nok-Nok's Deck Handler

Aric forgot his 1-in-8 chance to recharge the Game of Afterlife again. :¬P

    Nok-Nok's Deck Handler

The Red Raven was supposed to gain a plunder from defeating the Shipwreck.

    Male Human Vigilante Deck Handler

You’re right, fixed that. Found a nice ally.

    Nok-Nok's Deck Handler

Villain time on Nok-Nok's next turn.

I'd ideally like to have a blessing and/or Mogmurch to help on the combat 20 check, but the closing requirements for the Graveyard are random, so do what you need. Feel free to use Mogmurch to help you close, but not if the Storm is at my location, otherwise I could lose my whole hand before getting to the fight.

    Arabundi Deck Handler

I'll basically do nothing on my turn and reset everything but the BotG and the Crossbow. I have nothing but Barriers, Monsters and a single Item left in my location so not worth the risk. I have 2 Blessing of the Samurai in my deck that hopefully come up. Also, with the Crossbow, I will be able to provide 2d4 to Combat even if I don't have any Blessings.

    Grand Lodge

Nok-Nok - your email seems to not have worked in the Google Hangouts. Could you try to post in our link to see if you're still there?

Alternately, could you send me your Google email address again so I could add you?

    Thanks,
    BR Dink

    Grand Lodge

Ok, now you have achieved a Tier up (Tier 2), Aric! And a die bump - congrats! The other two advance, but this is your third scenario by my records, so no feats for y'all.

Here are your possible deck upgrades:

    Porcupine (Ally B)
    Portable Sarcophagus (Armor P)
    Burglar's Buckler (Armor 1)
    Crowbar (Item C)
    Sands of Time (Spell 1)
    Acute Senses (Spell B)
    Khopesh (Weapon B)
    Corrosive Dagger +1 (Weapon B)
    Khelru (Ally 1)

Don't forget your convention boon roll!

    BRs love Boons, too!: 1d20 ⇒ 9

Let me know what card upgrades you take here, please. d1000 rolls should be posted with your preferences to save time, thanks.

    Nok-Nok's Deck Handler

Hey, we actually got TWO Porcupines! Seems like they're becoming our team mascot(s)...

    Armor 1: 1d1000 ⇒ 785

Armor 1 is pretty much the only thing I'm interested in, so if I don't get it, I'll check through my decks and see if there's anything that's worth it with whatever you guys don't pick.

    Con Boon: 1d20 ⇒ 16

    Nok-Nok's Deck Handler

Finally a scenario with ships (though that makes Nok-Nok cry, with his d4 Wisdom stat - especially since they're required to be able to fight Villains & Henchmen, it seems).

Nok-Nok will start at the Fringes of the Eye - he's usually pretty good against barriers.

    Boon roll: 1d20 ⇒ 10

    1. Item B: 1d1000 ⇒ 720, if I get this I’ll use a PFS boon from Plunder&Rum to improve it to Item 1.
    2. Weapon B: 1d1000 ⇒ 711
    3. Ally B: 1d1000 ⇒ 342

Aric will start at Pinnacle Atoll.

    Grand Lodge

Aric, I'd need to sight a copy of that boon in order for it to be legally used. Could you send it to me via Google Hangouts, please?

Just awaiting Arabundi's deck upgrade and starting location. Aric, you'll be going first in this new scenario.

    Arabundi Deck Handler

    Ally B: 1d1000 ⇒ 766

I'll start at the Fog Banks again.

Also, I will be taking Holy Light instead of the Remove Curse

    Grand Lodge

    Nok-Nok takes the Armor 1.
Aric takes the Item B (pending his boon for an Item 1).
    Arabundi takes the Ally B.

    Starting locations set.

Is Aric taking the Game of Afterlife again?

    Male Human Vigilante Deck Handler

Yes, going to use Game of Afterlife again, instead of Spyglass. Sent images of the chronicle sheet in the hangout.

    Nok-Nok's Deck Handler

So at this point, do we try to beat the Villain by temp closing the Scar Bay, or do we go through the whole Bay? Only one item and one ally left in there, so not great odds of getting something good. At least we have a lot of turns left.

Nok-Nok has no chance of temp closing and probably few chances of beating a random ship before the Villain, so pretty much not my call.
