Berato Aquilinus |
In that case Berato took a move action after his swing - map positioning updated
Anthys |
Anthys steps up and tries to smash a devil with his hammer.

Even with Marcus' help Anthys can't quite hit the incredibly nimble devil.
Vegazi rushes up with an arrow knocked, firing it at the closest devil after reaching her new position.

Vindlér passes Anthys, then runs by the blinded blue devil to get in line with Berato, as well as gain a strategic position against the blue devil. He turns with his magically enhanced axe in hand and swings it at the gaav.
Move 20ft, moving through Blue's space. Shouldn't provoke since he's blind. Then attack with cold iron battleaxe with magic weapon cast on it.

Seeing his blows less than fully effective, Anthys remembers something from the lengthy lecture that Elaril delivered in the middle of a prior battle. Lacking a Holy weapon, he resolves to pull out Requiem to continue the fight. Will at least get +1 damage from the enhancement bonus, and a wider crit range.

Not enough on its own, but I think Vegazi gets an AoO as well...
GM Fez |
She is wielding a bow and has been relying on its not having reach to shoot it from point blank.
Berato's last blow isn't quite enough to stop the Devil from finishing its spell and escaping with a small noise and the smell of ozone. Combat over!
As the rest of the patrons begin spilling out of the doors towards their homes and loved ones you can hear startled cries for help coming from the back of the inn, towards the kitchen.
Vindlér Far-seer |
"Right behind ya, Anthys." Vindler follows close behind his brother in arms.
GM Fez |
Countertops and a fireplace with a large cauldron in it are the only furnishings in this kitchen. Exits include a swinging door to the east, a door to the south, and a stone spiral staircase to the northwest.
The proprietor of the Blissful Badger that you met earlier tonight, Isald Forgemore, is in the kitchen fighting a fire spilling from the cauldron. "Help me save my bar!" she calls out as you enter.
Spread: 1d8 ⇒ 2
The fire starts licking up the counter in the middle of the kitchen, leading to it spreading faster. The red square is the original grease fire, the orange square(s) are where the fire has spread and contain no grease.

Fire Spreads
Elaril, Vindlér, Anthys, Marcus, Berato, Vegazi, Isald
Berato Aquilinus |
Berato grabs his bedroll and attempts to smother the fire with it.
"Don't throw water on a grease fire! sand or blankets or curtains, quick!" yells Berato.
Anthys |
Anthys would not have brought his bedroll with him if he was waking up and running downstairs into a fight.
Water should work on the non-grease fire (the orange square) I believe.
Can Anthys see anything in the kitchen that might help douse the grease fire? Sand or salt or anything like that? Otherwise he can try to go grab some curtains.
Vindlér Far-seer |
Vindler also didn't bring any of his travel gear from upstairs, just his armor/weapons. He'll help Anthys with the curtains if there are any available.
Berato Aquilinus |
Most dwellings kept buckets of sands at the ready in case of fire - reference: Downton Abbey show! :)
GM Fez |
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21
There are vast quantities of salt in the kitchen, luckily away from the areas already on fire. Thinking quickly your team moves into action, liberally salting the kitchen and smothering the fires. Isald breathes a sigh of relief, "Oh thank you. Two orcs ran in here and knocked over the cauldron before running off. Could I trouble you for help with one more thing? I saw two glob monsters in the cellar, and I'm worried they'll destroy my food stores and the relics I have for safekeeping. You're free to take the relics with you if you get rid of the monsters, they're under a loose stone in the northeast corner of the room. Oh! Take these too, as thanks for saving my bar." Isald hands you three potions of cure light wounds.
Vindlér Far-seer |
Wait, we're back to clearing out people's basements?! Are we level 1 again?! ;)
"Of course, Isald, we'll be glad to help ya," Vindler assures the innkeeper.
Was there anything else happening out in the streets? I thought we heard screams and stuff from outside as well. Maybe we should make sure everything outside is good before we go downstairs.
Anthys |
Anthys nods. "Happy to help Arwyll Stead however we can."
Monsters outside, monsters downstairs, one way is as good as another with me. All else being equal, it seems like downstairs is the direction the module wants us to go.
GM Fez |
Glancing out the doors and windows as you head down into the cellar it is clear the town is suffering from a rather large raid of devils and orcs. Vegazi suggests it would be best to clear the basement then everyone arm themselves for major combat afterward.
Barrels of wine flank the walls of this long stone cellar. On the eastern end of the basement, various meats hang from chains and hooks attached to the ceiling. Down at the opposite end of the cellar two more Lemure devils are going about their business, greedily eating hanging meat and paying no attention to the door. Move yourself into the cellar and make a surprise round action

If the surprise round begins as soon as Anthys sees the devils, then all he can do is a single move. They are too far for a partial charge. Again terrain has us limited to single file. Will get to double file as soon as I can.
Vindlér Far-seer |
With his senses on alert due to Isald's warning, Vindler is ready to move straight into the fight as he descends the stairs. He follows after Anthys and passes Abadar's blessing to the warrior as he forms up alongside him.
Since we are all able to act in the surprise round without having to use the normal benefits of the Lookout feat, I get to make both a move and standard action in the surprise round. I use those actions to move up beside Anthys and use Touch of Law on him.
Berato Aquilinus |
Berato casts bless on everyone.
Elaril |
Spotting two more devils nicely lined up side by side, Elaril mutters softly under his breath once more before unleashing a shower of glittery dust over the creatures.
