I really liked the idea of making an up coming god over a Super Powered PC. The Teleport/Invis idea is so that when one of the faithful calls Alyln for aid. Or someone pleaded for her help or even someone calls for her and asks for a fate changing card. She can walk thought a city and not be seen. All so she can get to that one person calling her. It's part of her mythous the cult of Alyln spreads. The down side is has to keep coming or faith would be lost. Not ever call but those that help spread the faith

As he priests say.

"Call her name and where there is change there is opportunity, where there is chance there is hope."

Deep down she has a good streak and as a lover of games, has a soft spot for the young no matter the race. That can put her at odd with those who have a hard view on good and evil. She also knows she can harm as well much as heal if the cards play out wring. So she tries to be careful when aiding using what small bit of control she has over the randomness of her powers.

Note: Just change her so she has the weaker 'Corona of Fury' fitting her build over the bigger 'Divine Furry. This also adds more randomness to her which I like. The downside is the build is that it makes her weak in combat. And that means she has to use tricky like dad would want to get out of trouble. hehe

I like your build. The teleporting and shape changing really gets that godly feel down. You’re rationale on it holds too, and I’m sure that it will go along way in building your cult. It feels almost Odin-like. A trickster god who changes shape and travels in disguise. Not evil, but certainly not good either.

——

On my end, I am trying for a more Hercules-like feel. Super high strength, but without the flashy powers that usually come with spell casting. No flight, no teleporting (except her bow) no insane movement speed. But rather something super-human. Anyone within 110ft (much more if we get more powers) will be in for a world of hurt. And anyone who closes into melee can then be snapped in half. But she lacks the flexibility to handle enemies who aren’t straight forward.

———

Holding off analysis on our resident angel until I see her work some magic. ;)

———

Overall this is a really unique campaign and I’m loving the feel thus far.

Female Swanmay Angel Eldritch Godling 10/Radiant 10

My main theme is 'angel of healing, light and fury', basically Sarenrae in angel PC form.

Oh and I can mess up the undead.

I still need to finish my PC, but she's pretty much all done. I switched to focus on my PC for Seb's Dark Sun game, and I've also had a super busy last month or so(as is the norm for Sept, which is my bday month, lol).

I believe we're waiting on the GM in game to reveal what our scout found, yes?

I just posted that for Alyn.

I like the idea of an Angle of healing in this setting, when the war its the world will need one, and it would become a great base for a godly following,

Male Weremonkey Rogue/Ranger/Trickster

Posting this to all my games:

Tomorrow, I embark on a week+ long 'vacation', wherein I get to work both Baltimore Comic Con, and New York Comic Con(hopefully!) with the amazing and incredible Greg Horn!!

As such, my posting may be spotty, or possibly even non existent until my return(some time around Oct 9th).

I will do my best to post/reply, as I will have both my laptop and smartphone with me, but I make no promises!

Even down to 2, I am more than happy to continue.

Alyln and Brunhild cover each other's weaknesses quite well. And for healing, Brunhild has Fast Healing 4 with a move action. So on my side, at least, a few minutes equals full health.

I'd say that with two godlings, both of whom have all knowledge skills in the 20s and good face skills, we can make this work. Plus with only a handful of players, we should be able to keep the posting rate up.

You both game?

Female Swanmay Angel Eldritch Godling 10/Radiant 10

Uh, I haven't left. Did you miss my post above yours? lol

Also, I need you two to check out Akashic Bond, and Vivification in my profile, and let me know if you guys want just the temp hp/bonus to saves, or some other benefit(via Vivification).

Female Swanmay Angel Eldritch Godling 10/Radiant 10

My mistake, I have since verified with those who made the class, and the two bonuses are not mutually exclusive.

That said, unsure if this current combat is actually over or not, but for future reference, these are the bonuses I can grant, in addition to temp HP and saves:

Vivification:

Vivification (Su): Starting at 2nd level and every even level thereafter, the radiant may choose one vivification from the following list. Whenever the radiant invests essence into an ally with akashic bonds, she may grant them the benefits of one vivification she knows. For each
additional point of essence invested in that creature, she may either grant them the benefits of an additional vivification she knows, or increase the benefits of an already granted vivification as described in its entry.

Durability: While this vivification is used on an ally, they gain a DR 1/–. This damage reduction increases by 1 for each additional point of essence used with this vivification.

Ferocity: While this vivification is used on an ally, they gain a +2 insight bonus
on their damage rolls, +2 for each additional point of essence used with this vivification.

Might: While this vivification is used on an ally, they gain a +1 enhancement bonus to their Strength score, +1 for each additional point of essence used with this vivification.

Renewal: Each minute the ally spends with essence invested in them they heal 1 point of ability damage. For each additional point of essence used with this vivification, an additional point of ability damage is healed each minute. For every hour an ally spends with essence invested in them, 1 point of ability drain they are suffering is converted into a point of ability
damage. For each additional point of essence used with this vivification, an additional point of ability drain is converted to ability damage each hour.

Speed: While this vivification is used on an ally, they gain a +1 enhancement bonus to their Dexterity score, +1 for each additional point of essence used with this vivification.

HP (27/27) AC (16/16/13, +1 vs undead) Saves (+5/+5/+6, +3 vs Spells/SLAs) CMD (20) Brunhild

Strength? Every 2 points gives me +1 hit/damage/AC/Fort/Ref/Will/Knowledge-all/Intimidate/Acrobatics/UMD

So yeah. That seems like the best option for me, so long as it gives more than +1 str

I'm still here -- this is going to have to be a slightly slower game than my Dark Sun campaign, but I'm going to continue to post a few times a week (I can't promise every day).

We're having someone else join too, so expect a new body to show up.

Hello! This is the new body showing up. :D I'm not exactly certain when Silvertail will be popping in, but it probably won't be too long now.

Silvertail's build is a bit scattered, befitting the fact that her powers are scavenged rather than inherited. Most of her abilities are based on Charisma, as the raw power she's consumed makes up for the comparative weakness of her small body. She has a massive array of spells, many of which are suitable for trickery and charm, but she has a smattering of other types of spells. She's incredibly stealthy and has multiple ways to shapeshift, turn invisible, and otherwise show up when least expected.

I'm looking forward to her appearing shortly. ;)

Hey team, Sebecloki just gave me the OK to join yall.

I'll need a bit of time to put together a character, but I have a handful of ideas and I'm excited to put one together to join yall.

In terms of the party, is there anything you think you're missing?

In terms of the setting, I'm well familiar with Greek and Roman mythology, but not at all with the Scarred Lands setting. Anything I should read? Are we going with Greek gods here? Edit, I found this wiki, which lists the gods and a bit more...but feel free to call out more if useful.

I'm also new to Godbound. I've downloaded the PDF. What in particular should I read? Are we just using the Words, or more? Can someone explain how they're being used here? (or help me find the post where it's summarized?)

DM, If I choose a spellcasting Godling class, are you OK with doing the standard Spherecasting conversion (Eldritch=High, Adept=Mid)?

Are these the final build rules?

Sebecloki wrote:

I think we will start at 10th level, with five mythic tiers, and the standard array of Godbound words (is it six?).

For stats, roll 5d6, drop the two lowest. You can do that three times and choose the best set.

For classes, except for the rule that one part of the gestalt has to be godling, anything else goes.

We won't use automatic bonus progression for this game, so choose some appropriate magical items for that level of character.

1 feat per level.

Background skills.

Looking forward to playing with yall!

Rolls:

5d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 6, 2, 6) = 23 18

5d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 5, 6, 4) = 25 17
5d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 5, 4, 5) = 19 14

Female Swanmay Angel Eldritch Godling 10/Radiant 10

I think the only thing we might truly be missing is a dedicated melee beatstick/tank.

Dhaunae is *sort* of tank, in that she can take a decent beating(lots of HP), and has plenty of healing, but she's not AC heavy, nor is does she possess any defensive abilities(DR, SR, resistances, imunnities, etc) .

Also, outta sheerest curiosity, how do you feel about playing a female character? Obviously you don't have to, but I love the dynamic of all four us being badass women PCs, lol.

Cool, that's easy to work with!

Does the setting have any equivalent of Hephaestus? I could see a daughter of a smithing deity, swinging an adamantine hammer, probably built as a Spheres Blacksmith. Could also be a daughter of Corean who can never live up to his perfect virtue.

Are templates allowed here? (I'm also thinking of a daughter of Denev, built as a Briarborn with the Green Warden template...something I just floated in the Numenera recruitment...but think might work really well as a Spheres Shifter / Mighty Godling front-liner here. The template isn't strictly needed, but it's a really flavorful one. Would be happy to trade something for it, if it fits the campaign...or can easily let it go.)

HP (27/27) AC (16/16/13, +1 vs undead) Saves (+5/+5/+6, +3 vs Spells/SLAs) CMD (20) Brunhild

Welcome! For godbound:

“Fray Die: 1d8 Inflict this damage every round to lesser enemies”

Every round each adjacent “lesser enemy” takes 1d8 damage. What is lesser? Up to the GM. Most likely non Mythic/Godbound

“Divine Fury: Unused When killed, come back with 1/2 HP, +8 Effort and no restrains, for 8 rounds”

A get out of jail free card.

“Effort: 2”

You spend effort on your abilities. Effort comes back the second you stop using it. So, for example. I chose the bow word and commit effort each round to do max damage and ignore cover with my arrows. So that is 1/2 effort left. I can thus use only one other ability which requires effort.

———-

From there pick a Word. These give beyond Mythic powers and define who your character is.

Do you want to carry golems with one hand? Might Word
Do you want to fly and sneeze lightning? Air Word.
Do you want teleport into battle and free action summon any weapo you ever held? Sword sword.

Etc etc. Lots of fun mechanics.

I actually kind of worked the other way, but that's because Silvertail's concept involves her powers being kind of random, due to the fact that she's gotten them by scavenging from various titans and gods. So I basically looked at her almost complete sheet and said, "What doesn't fit at all with her powers but would actually be useful for her?"

And that's why she has the Earth word.

Female Swanmay Angel Eldritch Godling 10/Radiant 10

Do we have any spells or abilities that grant morale bonuses? I took Moment of Greatness as one of my spells known, but can easily trade it out.

Thanks for the warm welcome, and for sharing your thoughts. Re: Godbound Words, each seems to have a set of lesser and greater gifts. Do we have all of those, if we have the word? Or some subset?

More to come on character creation soon.

(As far as Morale bonuses, too early to say...though the Spheres Commander is a class I was thinking about. So many options though...)

You get the basic word power (example: might word sets strength to 19)

Lesser word abilities cost 1 point, Greater word abilities cost 2 points

There are universal word abilities as well. The most useful is a lesser ability (1 point) that sets a stat to 18. It can only be taken once.

I have rage. But feel free to use whatever spells make the most sense for you.

Thanks for the quick answer. As a followup...how many points do we have? (apologies if this is spelled out somewhere I've missed)

EDIT:
And another question. Is there any conversion needed for the powers? Some (like Sky's constant flight at double ground speed, and the ability to reach 100 MPH, or even Sword's ability to charge through the air) seem incredibly powerful. Others (like Artifice's Hammerhand, quoted below) seem quite minor. That said...I haven't seen what Godbound's HP are like. Do the damage-dealing effects like this get/need conversion? Or are they just more minor choices?

Artiface - lesser gifts wrote:

Hammerhand - On Turn

Commit Effort. Every weapon or unarmed attack you use rolls at least
a 1d10 damage die and is treated as a magic weapon. Against artificial
constructs or inanimate things, this damage roll is read straight.

ANOTHER EDIT:

Artiface - greater gifts wrote:

Reverence of Steel - Constant

Any clothing or armor you make for yourself gives you an AC of 3
with no saving throw penalties. When you make a suit specifically
for another, any saving throw penalties are one class lighter; none for
medium armor, and only one saving throw penalized for heavy armor.
As an Instant action, Commit Effort for the scene to negate one hit
you receive from a manufactured or crafted weapon.

I clearly haven't read enough of the system, but this sounds like a reduction in ACP...but also clearly like something that would need conversion.

Do we have guidelines for doing so?

Hey all, I'm moving along with building my godling.

Her Word is Artifice, and she will be a blacksmith, a capable tank and heavy hitter, a self-buffer (able to grow to huge size), and a martial battlefield controller. She swings an adamantine longhammer that use uses in the forge...and that's also key to the spells she crafts (swinging her hammer at an ethereal anvil to shape reality itself to meet her visions).

Class-wise, she'll be a Sentinel | Eldritch Godling (using the standard Spheres of Power conversion for casting, with a strong focus on self-buffing).

I'll have more to share soon. In the meantime, are we using Feat Tax rules for this campaign?

(I know I've seen you list them in several of your recruitments, but I'm not sure if you're using them here.)

We don't really have guidance for translating Godbound to Pathfinder--do what seems right.

Stats were 5d6, drop two, roll three sets and take the best set.

I don't recall anything about Feat Tax rules, but I'm playing a straight spellcaster so I might just not have been paying attention.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Hey all, just checking in. I know Sebecloki mentioned he'd be busy for a while but I've been merrily chugging away at my character.

I've read enough of the Godbound rules to have a reasonable sense of how to adapt them. I've made the assumption that--since so much 3p is allowed--it's fine to at least take some of the feats from the Feat Tax rules, like Deft Maneuvers in place of Improved Trip.

I keep making changes--this is a damned complex build!--but I think I'm nearing done (or at least ready for a friendly review).

For now, a bit of backstory:

In reading up about the Scarred Lands, I came across a mention of some half-giants who were created by the Titans but rebelled and helped Corean to defeat Thulkas.

Ianthe (rhymes with "spy ON me") in the descendent of one of these halfgiant heroines, who was once a lover of Corean. I think I'd rather play her as young-ish (despite the sweet, sweet temptation of the venerable age bonuses) so would like to know how long ago Thulkas was defeated in our timeline, and if a community of the descendents of the halfgiants who aided Corean could reasonably exist. If it was a long time ago, perhaps Ianthe was born of a great-great-granddaughter of the heroine who helped defeat Thuklas?

Cheers!

I'm still here; I'm through my terrible week and trying to get back into my games -- I apologize for the delay, but I'm still here to run this.

Indeed, no worries getting busy! Life takes priority.

When you get a sec, some remailing Q's:
1. Normally you can't add the same attribute to something twice. My Godling / Oracle power lets me use STR instead of DEX for AC and CMD. What should I do? I'm inclined to say having an absurdly high CMD would be in character, but happy to only add it once if you prefer.

2. Can you confirm it's Ok to use feats like Deft and Powerful Maneuvers, that come from the Elephant Feat Tax doc?

3. And speaking of that doc, are the free feats for it in effect, e.g. Power Attack? (If so, I think Brunhild will get an extra to spend arrive she bought Deadly Aim)

Thanks!

Actually, one more Question:

How long ago was Thulkas defeated? It'll change my backstory some.

Thanks.

Thulkas is still alive in the timeline we're in (we're in the past)

I can't remember what build rules we used for this -- if we used feat tax, you can use those

link the rule about applying ability scores, I'm not sure, I need to look at the relevant material

I think both powers let you use STR instead of DEX for AC and CMD, right? So they're replacing, not adding, so replacing twice in my opinion would just mean it's replaced, not added twice. But I'm not the GM.
