Sir Hendric the Vigilant
|
Completely ignoring Suliji, Sir Hendric says, "Suli or Tortuga, can one of you go help that man onto my horse or behind us?"
I can't really squeeze in there to get to Ratarion unless I dismount.
He is still fully on his guard and ready for action, reassessing the situation every few seconds.
| GM Xavier Kahlvet |
Suliji holds up her arm to symbolically stop anyone trying to move towards Ratarion, which causes the Taldan man to flinch.
”He cleans up nicely, yes, but don’t overlook the blood of the innocent upon his hands. To his credit, though, he has delegated the lion’s share of atrocities to his agents abroad. If you take this conniving sociopath out of here then you’ll be condemning hundreds, perhaps thousands more to their deaths, even more to be sold into slavery! You have fought demons and fiends in the name of the Society, Hendric, and that is commendable, but this man is no different from those monstrosities save the plane he came from.”
Sir Hendric the Vigilant
|
Is Ratarion restrained in any way? If not, Sir Hendric says, "Come here and I can keep you safe."
If he is tied up, Sir Hendric again asks Tortuga or Suli to go free him.
He gives no indication that he heard Suliji.
| GM Xavier Kahlvet |
Oddly enough, he isn’t restrained in any way.
The Patron nervously shifts his gaze between Suliji and Hendric, but doesn’t move.
Sir Hendric the Vigilant
|
Sir Hendric will use Sense Motive to discern if Ratarion is influenced by an enchantment effect. That's only a DC 25 which he automatically makes.
"Care to tell me what is going on, sir?"
If there is no answer, he will stow the lance, dismount, walk past Suliji, and sling Ratarion over his shoulder. Then walk back to the horse, put Ratarion on the back, and mount up again.
All this only once Suli and Kaldane are next to where he is now (so Kaldane is within range for a single move + Breath of Life if needed).
Sulii
|
No need for you to do it Hendric, you did order Suli to.
Suli walks up to the man and throws him over Suli's own shoulder and walks back next to Hendric.
SM: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (18) + 12 = 30
| GM Xavier Kahlvet |
Ratarion doesn’t speak.
As Sulii moves Suliji grabs her falcata from Nox and stands in the way of Sulii.
”Hendric, if you proceed with this then you will be killing more than you will be saving—listen to me before you do something you are going to regret!”
As she speaks, a number of blades begin rattling in their cases.
Sulii
|
I mean...Suli was given an order...unless someone else makes a really good argument..
Suli continues proceeding toward the scared man.
Géatan Émond
|
"Suli, Stop!"
Why this Man is Afraid of you? Say IT now! If you are stalling for time!....
détection psychic
| GM Xavier Kahlvet |
Ratarion, for the first time since you all entered, swiftly speaks:
"She's holding me hostage!"
"Yes, I am, and I'm trying to explain, but you all are not giving me the time to explain myself! If anything it's you all who are stalling!"
EDIT: You make an excellent point, Hendric:
Unarmed Disarm (if needed): 1d20 + 19 - 4 ⇒ (9) + 19 - 4 = 24
Nox Neuropastum
|
Can she see me? Cause if not, she wouldn't know where her sword is to grab it... I'm just a voice in the shadows.
Suliji, it's okay... I know what an awful piece of dung this man is. So what's going on? You just gonna murder him? Cause frankly, I'm okay with that, but we needed to make sure that the pathfinders aren't going to suffer for it...
| GM Xavier Kahlvet |
She did indeed snatch the falcata out from Nox's hands.
'Pathfinders are going to--' What are you talking about?! I had no intention in making the Society suffer!"
Nox Neuropastum
|
Yipes.
Don't worry Suli, just take a deep breath with me....
He makes several loud breaths in and out.
Okay? Now, just talk with us. If your convincing, I'm more than happy to kill the man myself and use his head instead of yours. But our info said you where going to try and pin this on the pathfinder society. Not to mention the business with the dragon and the crazy lady with the god snot.... so just focus on me, focus on your breathing, and let's talk this out... we're just gonna hold onto the guy for a moment, he's not going anywhere, and your perfectly safe..
Géatan Émond
|
I am confused.
"We Heard from kromalag that you are an ambitious woman that pass some information to an evil dragon that hurt our Caravan and that your coordonate the attack on the Grand lodge!"
He turns to Hendrik.
Hendrik... Trust me. She could kill us if she wanted.
Sir Hendric the Vigilant
|
"Fear not, Ratarion, you are safe with us. I will not let Suliji or Nox kill you."
"Géatan, I think she'd rather use us. We don't have the means to determine if she is telling the truth, so we should stick to the mission."
| GM Xavier Kahlvet |
“You are in the heart of their operation with a dagger to their throat. You can give this conflict a merciful death by eliminating some of the most depraved souls you’ll likely ever meet, or you can let these battles continue, condemning hundreds more to die. Did someone ask you to stay your blade, or did they ask you to recognize an opportunity and seize it?!”
Sir Hendric the Vigilant
|
Sir Hendric finally looks Suliji in the eye.
"You may think you have all the angles figured and know the cascading consequences of your ploys. You're so clever. Good for you. I don't have any such delusions about myself. I'm just a knight. I'm sticking to my mission."
| GM Xavier Kahlvet |
The blades in the chamber begin to shake within their cases violently.
”You…stubborn…little…! I’m trying to help you!!!”
As Suliji screams the swords in the cases shatter out of them, coalescing into vaguely humanoid shapes and standing upright!
Because of how relatively little time was spent talking, I’m going to say that there’s still 10 rounds left on particulate form, and the other such buffs as appropriate.

"Suji, I saw in your eye that your have lost control on your power. So. I will attack one of your sword creatures. Just tell us your story if you want to help us.."

| GM Xavier Kahlvet |
Suddenly, from atop of the glass-less display case right next to Kaldane, an adamantine falcata shimmers and glows as a ball of energy lands and expands outwards 20’. For clarity, the sword itself cast an SLA. Not even going to hide it from you guys because this’ll just be faster, but it’s the AOE option of greater dispel magic, centered on the purple circle
CL Check to Dispel: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (6) + 18 = 24
It’s not targeting a specific spell, so everyone except Geatan gets something random dispelled from them that's CL 13 or lower (You got really lucky there, Hendric).
The sword then flies outward, right towards Geatan! It provokes from Tortuga

Hope this works... Suliji, I know you can hear and see me, stay safe, we'll fix this once we handle this thing.
Arrow Vs FF: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (6) + 19 = 25
Damage: 1d4 + 1 + 8d6 + 15 ⇒ (1) + 1 + (3, 3, 4, 1, 6, 4, 1, 2) + 15 = 411 Str Damage, -2 to AC vs all, -4 AC vs self (Non stack)

Sniper Stealth: 1d20 + 55 ⇒ (2) + 55 = 57
Also...He whispers, keeping his voice low, and not speaking to the message spell....
If you wouldn't mind letting me know if it would cause problems if the patron ends up with a arrow in his neck "Accidentally", i'd certainly appreciate it. Cause I don't plan on letting him walk out of her alive.
| GM Xavier Kahlvet |
Greater Dispel Magic, Nox. Be sure to roll for that one.
Nox's first arrow manages to strike true...until it just happens to sneak through exactly the right hole in its amalgamation of swords to completely thread its way right through its form.
His second arrow, however, actually strikes true, but it felt like not all of his damage went through completely and constructs, btw, are immune to ability damage and bleed, but the creatures turn to look right at him! Also, what the heck happened to Xon?
"That man personally gave the order to kill my friend, my....love...There's no telling what that man would do if left alive. He. Must. Be. Put. Down!"

Sulii

Suli looks around a bit unsure. He then resolves with an action.
Swift : 6 ki points for Sow Time (picking the move speed buff from blessings of fervor).
grab: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (17) + 23 = 40
With everyone else moving slowly, Suli moves over to the 'captive' man, grabs him, and moves him all the way out the doors and around the corner.
| GM Xavier Kahlvet |
Sulii, you are aware that you don’t automatically move a grappled target, right? It’s part of a grapple check to maintain the grapple to move you and the grappled creature up to half your speed (or you could make a drag combat maneuver)
Sulii
|
So according to my reading, grappling and maintaining a grapple are both standard actions. Could I just spend more standard actions to 'maintain' and just do what I did?
| GM Xavier Kahlvet |
Absolutely, but I technically would need 2 more rolls to maintain and you would only be able to move him 80’ (you don’t get to move him on the initial grapple).
Side note: did Sulii have any buffs of CL 13 or lower on him?
Sulii
|
I picked the movement speed boost from Blessings of Fervor, thus his move speed is 110ft. Yes, his strong jaw.
Grapple: 1d20 + 23 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 23 + 5 = 30
Grapple: 1d20 + 23 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 23 + 5 = 32

I think all my current buffs on me are from Kaldane, so nothing CL 13 or lower.
Using the bonus from Blessing of Fervor for the bonus to attack, Reflex, and AC.
Using Leg Sweep Style Strike. If the first attack hits, I get a free trip attempt against green.

Tortuga’s AoO felt like it did next to nothing to the flying falcata!
Tortuga manages to trip Green, and hit with his first, third-to-last, and second-to-last attacks, but he felt that not all of the damage went through.
Green stands provokes from Tortuga and its body shifts as a different set of bladed weapons move their way towards its “hands.” It then tries to slam at Tortuga.

Ratarion, meanwhile, tries (and fails miserably) to escape Sulii’s hold.

I think since Kaldane put the heroism on me and the only other effect that can be canceled is my vision elixer, that automatically gets broken. Also, I figured with the constructs but hey, we've faced weirder things.
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Sir Hendric the Vigilant
|
"Ratarion, swear RIGHT NOW you'll cancel the Mwangi plan! Kaldane, I need to charge that sword."
Sir Hendric delays until after Kaldane.
Kaldane takes a 5' step, drops and picks up his katana (provoking from Green) and casts CLW on himself (provoking from Green if it has Combat Reflexes).
CLW: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
He also regains 3 HP from Particulate Form (which also makes all the recipients immune to crits).
Kaldane is AC 40 with Barkskin and Blessing of Fervor.
If Green takes one AOO on Kaldane (but not two), then Sir Hendric will use his swift action to challenge the sword (figuring it counts as a creature). If Green took 2 AOOs, then Sir Hendric will save his swift for Snake Style or Mounted Combat vs an AOO from Green. Sir Hendric is AC 39 with Blessing of Fervor, or 37 if Challenge is active (but 41 vs challenge target).
He then does a Wheeling Charge on the sword.
attack: 1d20 + 30 ⇒ (20) + 30 = 50 From his usual challenge/charge/PA, -3 to hit and damage from Broken lance and loss of Str belt; +3 to hit and +1 damage from Blessing of Fervor and Prayer
confirm: 1d20 + 30 ⇒ (9) + 30 = 39
Unsure if it can take crits
damage: 3d8 + 138 ⇒ (7, 7, 2) + 138 = 154
crit (broken, so x2) damage: 1d8 + 46 ⇒ (3) + 46 = 49
If he couldn't Challenge, then -54 damage (and -18 on the crit) but Snake Style at +43 or Ride at +32.
| GM Xavier Kahlvet |
”Seriously?! You want to talk about that right now?! This isn’t exactly the ideal time for negotiations!”
You have to have line of sight to the target of a charge at the start of your turn in order to charge, and Hendric actually couldn’t see the sword to be able to charge it (see the pink line).
AoO vs Kaldane: 1d20 + 27 ⇒ (14) + 27 = 41
Damage: 2d10 + 12 ⇒ (10, 9) + 12 = 31
Sir Hendric the Vigilant
|
Since Sir Hendric is presumed to occupy all of the four squares (not just the center) and can use any one for determining cover, I think the adjusted pink line is viable.
Edit: It's also not clear what the furniture is, how high the display cases are, which ones are still intact, how tall the curtains are, how high the sword is... if the sword was clearly not visible then Sir Hendric would not have said "I need to charge that sword" and so Kaldane would not have tried to eat up AOOs.
But I think Sir Hendric had line of sight.
| GM Xavier Kahlvet |
