My House Rules for Hero Points:

Hero Point Mechanics:

1) One permanent Hero Point may be used to avoid a final death scenario allowing a narrow cinematic escape,

2) One temporary Hero Point may be used if you are between -1 and -9 hit points to stabilize yourself to prevent further blood loss,

3) Temporary Hero Points may be expended to power Feats. These grant a lasting bonus for a one scene or one round duration depending on the feat description,

4) One temporary Hero Point grants a character a chance to supplement their d20 roll by 1d6 and add the result (whatever it was - no re-roll) to the d20 result,

Progression system:
Level 1-10 1d6,
Level 11-20 2d6,
Level 21-?? 3d6. and

5) No more than one Hero Point may be expended per round.

"They were Brelish soldiers. Somehow being of use after their death could mean something to them in their afterlife as long as they do not rise as some sort of horrific undead instead. I do not object really, as long as you help me bury them too. Or should we try and burn them? That might be safer. The down side is a fire could draw predators and other enemies. Burial seems safest for now. We should also note any personal items or identification markers for return to Sharn for official counting among the MIA lost to the military."

The fog is the BORDER of the Mournland as I understand it. It is not prevalent in the Mournland itself in my understanding, although I could be wrong.

Without looking up Gauntlet replies, voice as emotionless as usual.

"If you are afraid of it taking too long, then help us. Otherwise keep an eye out for...whatever is here that could be dangerous while we finish."

Gauntlet continues to prepare the dead for burial, digging semi-shallow graves and collecting large rocks to place on top of them once laid to rest.

Shadow's Status

the Mournland - Twenty Eighth Day of Dravago

The dead do not rise as the group begins digging to bury the dead. Most don either leather armor or chain mail, all in good condition. Their weapons range from short swords and daggers to longswords to hammer and mace. None appear exceptional in make but all are sturdy weapons should someone be looking for something reliable.

Rations and water skins as well as gear for "roughing it" can be found on the backs of most of the soldiers.

Do you want to do a deep search for any possible coins?

As Zabeth looks around the gloom of the Mournland she sees little in the way of threats.

It takes nearly two hours to dig the graves deep enough to properly bury the dead. If it is possible, the sky manages to darken further, what little "daylight" there is may be fading soon.

Perception DC 15 Anyone NOT Digging:
In the distance a pack of creatures move through the gloom. Their movements are slow and plodding as if they are trying to catch you all unawares. They are approximately 45' away right now.

Frank and Broulnindre work together closely to ... rescue the trail rations and occasional tent, piling the material away from the corpses.
They take the liberty of searching the pockets of the bodies before he dumps them into their new graves.

Gauntlet merely stops and stands up straight.

Turning in the direction of the possible enemies, Gauntlet un-clouds his mind and pictures an enormous two-handed blade, 'wrapping' his hands around the nothingness that then becomes something.

Bits of shadow, dust, and similar things that can only be interpreted by the eye rather than seen, seem to gather suddenly around Gauntlet and coalesce into a warrior's functional two-handed sword in his outstretched metal hands. The blade is a dull flat-black and so it does not shine like normal metal.

Spending 3 Pool points and a Standard action to summon a +2 Two-Handed Sword Mindblade. Did we rest and regain spells yet? Or are we still depleted?

Shadow's Status

the Mournland - Twenty Eighth Day of Dravago

Sharon retrieves her "samples" and experiments at the rear of the wagon as much of the group digs. Her findings are interesting in that she can determine absolutely nothing about the cause of their death. In fact, the corpses appear to have died just before the group arrived. The wounds were fresh, the decomposition that should have naturally occurred simply did not. The smell associated with such a corpse also was non-existent. Quite the mystery, perhaps more samples should be taken to conduct further research once outside of this place and in a full lab.

The dig done, with only the bodies now to be moved, the group receives some visitors.

Their attempts at stealth are abandoned as the group moves towards confrontation, the creatures fan out to surround you all. However, their numbers are not overwhelming. A dozen in all, they look like skeletal wolves.

the Mournland - Twenty Eighth Day of Dravago

Through the earth next to Pink-Eye emerges a creature, instead of attacking the Minotaur it guards his left flank! The Minotaur and his new companion strike down the first of the skeletons that have closed in.

Sharon draws her rapier and strikes 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19 - Damage 1d6 ⇒ 3

Meridian, snarling in rage unleashes fury upon the skeletal wolf and it collapses into a pile of bones.

Zabeth slash smacks the creature in exactly the right place, it's skull splits in two in a hairline fracture and the rest of the body falls with it.

Electric Eye's feint catches the skeleton unawares and it too returns to where it belonged.

The attacks of the rest of the companions land causing structural damage to the skeletons but does not cause the rest to falter. B's acid harms both her and the foe but even it does not falter.

They press their attacks uncaring at the fate of their fallen comrades only seeking to fill their eternally empty bellies as they sought to do in life, so they do in death.

I'm going to guess Meridian just blew up the wolf attacking me. So, I'll concentrate on healing.

Aerin winced as the wolf got ahold of her, and gave Meridian a surprised look when lightning arced through it. "Thanks!" She gave the horses a command to stay, and ran up behind Dev.

Cure Light Wounds on Dev: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

My current life link list is Meridian, Frank, Zabeth, and Kana. If any of you have taken more then 5 damage, you heal 5 and I take it. Just let me know so I can keep track of my HP
