You can borrow my wayfinder if you really want one! ;-)
Hmmm. I guess I'll use PP for the wand and hold off on the wayfinder until after this chronicle.

Also, the earlier missions don't really delineate between Tier 1 and Tier 2. Even though we're at Tier 2 at this point, I think I just play the thing as Tier 1. Does that jive with your understanding?

Also, I'm running late to work - does anyone remember how much we spent on the lesser restoration scrolls? I think that was coming out of Aurus' pockets so my starting gold should be lower...

Aren't first-level wands part of the 'always-available' assumption? Or is that just potions and scrolls? Can't find the chapter and verse to quote here as I'm at the office.

Oh der, Wand of CLW is on the chronicle for Tide Of Morning. :) So Cloudia and I can use the gold.
But I still will take points off of my close reading skills.

I'll just use the PP for both.

So scrolls of lesser restoration are 150 a piece, but you can get one scroll with 5 castings for 2 prestige. (That's what Uldar is doing for instance!). If you want you can use this and strike off two castings.
IMHO you are better off spending Prestige on wands and scrolls, so you can use your gold for magic items like +1 weapons.
Also a wand of Bless Weapon is a very good investment!

Do you have any recommendations for Mao?

Cloudia wrote:I'll just use the PP for both.Be sure you also buy the wand of burning hands from the Confirmation chronicle (4 charges CL3 180gp (limit 1)). It's really helpful vs swarms!
Sure, I'll do that since I'm not paying for the MM wand.

Lukian, Mao did a really good job with his stat line so that I know what his knowledge rolls (and everything else) are. It makes it easy for me to reference so I don't have to dig through everyone's profiles when initiating a combat and giving you guys hints with knowledge checks. Copy and pasted it below so you could see. (His skills were hidden behind a spoiler.)

What would you guys say to trading off DMing duties in this Core campaign so that we could get things done and travel around together?

Ha. I've definitely been channeling Little Shop of Horrors for this scenario!

I had my psychology students watch it this week so that they can do a case study on the characters.

Not arguing with you, Auke, but that's so dumb of the rule makers. Why wouldn't you just calculate the penalty from ability damage according to what the "new" ability score is? So if you had a 10 intelligence with a 0 modifier, and then dropped a point, you'd then have a 9 intelligence with a -1 modifier.

I agree. It's one of the changes made compared to 3.5 that didn't make sense to me either.

I expect her to become more fun as time goes on. A sorcerer is pretty pathetic at low level, whether core or classic. But a celestial blooded does not even have the lame attacks they give sorcerers at first level. The wand helps a lot, but she really is a one-trick pony at this time. Even so, I'm having fun anyway with her just being her.
First level sorcerers (or wizards) are quite decent, but your spell selection isn't the best for 1st level. A magic missle or mage armor doesn't profit from your high charisma, so those are best cast from wands. I wouldn't take magic missle until level 3, unless I had traits/feats to improve caster level, as a wand will do exactly the same (actually wands are better because they don't need to be used defensively and can't be interrupted). This also goes for Mage Armor, which is also not really needed that much (if the enemy is hitting you, something has gone wrong already!). It's ok if you know you are going into multiple fights, but then it's better as a buff on a monk or animal companion than yourself.
I would take spells like grease (very versatile: disarms, prevents charges, makes enemies prone, makes allies hard to grapple) and color spray (can win encounters by itself).
Also cantrips: Daze is a must, even though it only works on humanoid creatures. Also, Acid Splash and/or Ray of Frost. Even if it's just for destroying things out of combat. Dancing lights is better than light.
Get a load of scrolls for utility spells that you won't cast 50 times during your career.

Good points. I think I'll swap out when building for second level. I forgot that a sorcerer can replace spells so even a dead end spell like Color Spray is worth taking.

I have a bard that uses grease all the time. She was able to keep hell hounds, and bearded devils and death knights from going at it with the party

I am not sure, both of my sorcerers have it and has been worth its weight so far.
Only works against undead, so Acid Splash and Ray of Frost are more versatile. Ok, it's a D6 instead of a D3, but (non-core) you can boost the damage of AS and RoF to D3+1 with a focus, so the average becomes 3 which is on par with the average damage of Disrupt undead (3.5).
You only have 4 different cantrips at level 1. IMHO, you have only room for 1 ranged damage spell and you really need Daze until level 3. The other 2 for versatility (Ghost Sound, Light/Dancing Lights, Prestidigitation, Mage hand), because what's a sorcerer without an ability it can spam outside of combat!
