Let's not blow up anything until we establish a few things. I'll wait on everyone to get here prior, though.
Regardless, this is what I want.
= 1 Post a day, minimum.
= 2 Lack of presence means DMPC autopilot kicks in.
= 3 Feel free to take as long as you want, the apl is +1 for this encounter, but one of you might still die.
= 4 We're going to be using encounter maps when combat actually starts. It'll update every 10 minutes, so expect that to be slow paced, or fast, depending.
= 5 Try to have fun and enjoy the game, ok? Also if you know you won't be able to post, shoot me an email.
= 6 I am a STALKER of my games. I typically respond with NPC's very often, so don't be afraid to start a conversation with some of them.

The "other guy" is present and accounted for. :)
It would have helped, esteemed GM, had you posted a link to this thread on the recruitment one. I had been checking it every few hours waiting for such an update until I discovered the function that allows you to see which posts another user has made recently.
No doubt the Monk player is in the same situation I was.
Feel free to take as long as you want, the apl is +1 for this encounter, but one of you might still die.
What does that mean exactly?
We're going to be using encounter maps when combat actually starts. It'll update every 10 minutes, so expect that to be slow paced, or fast, depending.
Remember we may be in different timezones. When someone is furiously posting during combat, others may be sleeping.

So which of you are watching this closely? Check in one more time, because I'm probably going to have another one of the applications come in instead of the monk, on account of him being 2 days late.
(I linked it and everything, and even if I didn't, finding it was easy for those well-ventured on the forums)

I'm here! Sorry! I was just checking the recruitment thread instead of checking your profile for the discussion thread - new here to these forums. Ready to get started! I'll post everyday until you're sick of me I promise >:)

So regarding team tactics, Varangian, we two appear to be the frontline fighters for our little group. Our inquisitor is a crossbowman primarily and our short friend the alchemist loves to throw bombs.
That said, I'm going to be commonly letting you wade into combat first in that heavy breastplate of yours, and use my superior movement speed to get into flanking position with you after you've entered position. You're much more difficult to kill than I am in most cases. :)

Excited to get started Duboris!
Minor change to the appearance of my sword if it's okay. Traditional Pathfinder Temple sword looks like this: Temple sword. I belong to the monastery of the Way of Mankind, and the design of their temple swords is somewhat unique to the region. Here is what mine looks like: Dalton's sword

Question for the DM since I'm not as familiar with Golarion lore as I could be: does Rahadoum allow holy men to travel freely in their borders? I know they are an atheistic nation and they forbid the practice of religion, but would foreign religious men be allowed to travel there?
I ask because most of my journeying after I left the monastery was within Rahadoum's borders, and my knowledge of the outside world is all theoretical. Would I have met any inquisitors or seen them in combat, or would it all be hearsay and rumor?
*edit* Just googled it like I should have in the beginning. From the wiki:
The primary tenet of rule in Rahadoum is the First Law, which prohibits religion in any form. Foreigners visiting the country must submit to a thorough search by the Pure Legion upon arrival in Rahadoum. Possession of contraband items such as holy symbols or religious artefacts carries heavy fines and potential exile, while preaching religious doctrine garners much harsher punishments, including imprisonment or worse. For all that, the black market does a thriving trade in divine magic items.[2]
Most faiths have a presence in the nation, but to date, no religion has managed to become powerful enough to pull the nation from its strict avoidance of the divine, and all worship is done in secret.
Seems that I would not have met any openly religious people until I left Rahadoum.

Yes, my earliest memories were being raised in a monastery in Manaket, to be precise. Is that okay?
Dalton the Thirsty |
I always interpreted it as a nation that mistrusts the divine. It's not atheism that denies the EXISTENCE of gods, it's atheism that denies the idea that they're worthy of worship.
To sum up: The country’s other neighbours – the hurricane-blasted Sodden Lands, devil-dominated Cheliax and the religious assassins of Mediogalti Island – are seen as a vindication of Rahadoum’s decision to ban religion. From the Rahadoum entry in the Pathfinder wiki.
The gods cause too many problems. Best to take care of things on our own.
The monastery wasn't a "ballsy" one, either :). They didn't hide their existence because they didn't need to - they aren't a religious institution. They're a secular monastery dedicated to the perfection of the self, not Irori's worship or something similar.
Dalton the Thirsty |
Exactly. It's also why my Temple Sword is enchanted with Bane to Evil Outsiders. Besides the fact that it's a good weapon enchantment, it also fits my character's mistrust and dislike of extraplanar beings.
Still, I don't hate the religious and I don't hate their gods. I won't be picking fights or getting into arguments with our ultra-religious Inquisitor. :)

Ah! All the checking and I'm the one late for the real party. :)

No problemo. I charge and I hit hard. Plus my lovely bardiche has reach, he, he.

I actually kind of like that your "activity time" for posting seems to be at around 4 or 5 AM my time, Varangian. It means I have new roleplaying to look forward to when I get to my computer in the morning. :)

Outside of what we've already explained in our backstories, is there any additional information any of us would have picked up along our way to Carrion Hill? Or is the extent of our knowledge what you told us in the first post?

Ok... so... I just got home.
I went to bed at 2 last night.
> Woke up at 8:00
> Left at 8:30
> Got to school at 9:20
> Been at school till 5:30
> Went to find Court House
> Found courthouse at 6:00
> Left courthouse at 10:00 after the most boring class imaginable.
> Got home at 10:50, about 30 minutes ago.
> This is me apologizing for not being able to post all day and I'm gonna go pass out now. Expect lots of posting later in the day, tomorrow.
> I'm really sorry.

As I understand it, and the way I and Garenth and Teagan appear to be playing it, is that the DM will ask us to roll Perception (or roll it himself) if needed, OR the player can look around, at their option.

I had to go to a funeral of an uncle who perished suddenly after surgery yesterday. Was out of town all day and when I returned at night the crap that happened in Boston was on the late news.
Freaking surreal day. Gaming kind went off the wayside.
