the Gabrielle – the Panama Canal – September 24th, 1933
Alphonso
Alphonso slaps Henning with an open palm, the man looks a bit shocked, "What the hell? What's in this for you? I am trying to save your life. Don't you get it? Starkweather considers you all of us expendable in pursuit of his own glory..."
No Sanity loss from the open hand slap.
----
Arnault
Somehow, Arnault manages to staunch the leak! As the crew members rush in they begin to pull out what food they can before it becomes ruined by the ammonia. With the leak contained the men are able to work much more quickly and preserve more food than they otherwise would have been able to!
Scene ended for now.
----
Phoebe
Both men shrug non-committally. "If'n he's a criminal anyhow why don't we just smash it open?" states Abraham.
----
Stanley, I will get to you for the next update.
Alphonso Wolf
Alphonso looks at the fellow plainly and says no, but you have endangered me and my professional interests greatly. How do you propose to pay Goldman and Sachs for your assistance in this failure of loans, hmm? I will take it out of your flesh a pound at a time and no police will ever come, no one will come. Because my friend unless you come up with something you are worth more dead right now, then alive. Where do you think you are? Polite society? Oh no, freunde, you are thousands of miles from anything, with plenty of places for you to vanish. The boats furnaces for instance. Or perhaps a lovely swim mit the concrete shoes, nein? You little sweinhund, I will kill you this instant if you dont find me a reason to let you live!

Alphonso
"You are a banker eh? A heartless swine to be sure. I believe you... Tell me what you wish to know, if you can think of the right questions". He grins a bit.
----
Phoebe
Both men shrug and look at you helplessly.

the Gabrielle – the Panama Canal – September 24th, 1933
Alphonso
"I have no accomplices. As far as what I have sabotaged, I have lost track there is so much damage I have done. The refrigerators, the dogs, the food, the explosive wiring, the radios, the generators... so much I have done and yet still we travel south. This, this will stop us and save all of you. You should be thanking me not threatening me Mr. Banker".
---
Phoebe
Both men look down, "I think w should see the Cap'n an have him do it..."

the Gabrielle – the Panama Canal – September 25th, 1933
Past Midnight, the investigators gather together once more to compare notes on what they saw and learned...
All together now!
Phoebe Barrett
Nodding to the men, "That sounds like a much better idea. I will be back once I find him." Pheobe would leave to find the rest of the others and the captain.
Once she has found them all, "His locker is locked and we should have him open it. That was his roommates suggestion.." Frowning, "Though they first suggested breaking it open when I asked for a key."
Arnault
Arnault walks in looking weary, his shirt is untucked, crumpled and the buttons are done up hastily, mismatched.
"Sounds like a good idea Phoebe. "
"I found zee refrigerators damaged, filling up with gas! I managed to close off zee pipe. Used some of zee skills I learnt in all zose lectures... I'm not sure how much food vee still hafe, some of zee crew are going zrough it now. "
Alphonso Wolf
it seems our saboteur took many liberties with items which will require replacement before we go to our destination. Alphonso will then tell all the items he knows are ruined.

the Gabrielle – the Panama Canal – September 25th, 1933
Alphonso confirms what you all already knew or just found out the hard way.
Do you want to try and find Moore, Starkweatehr, or the Captain or head to bed and deal with everything in the morning?
Stanley Chastain
Sorry about the delay. My back was acting up recently and the muscle relaxers they put me on made so sleepy all the time.
Idea 75: 1d100 ⇒ 58
Stanley, with nothing of his own to report, is able to listen more carefully to the things that the others are reporting from their own investigations. And it occurs to him that in every case, the information gained from their is something they already knew or would find out easily on their own. It feels like it's not quite adding up.
"I feel like we're missing something important here," he suggests to the group, speaking up finally. "I'm not exactly sure what, though. Perhaps a lie of omission."

the Gabrielle – the Panama Canal – September 25th, 1933
The investigators discover the Captain and the leaders of the Expedition all together meeting about what to do next. As you enter with the first mate they stop speaking, based on the look on the Captain and Starkweather's faces, they were just arguing.
They hear what you all have to report.
Starkweather speaks, "Get some rest, you have done about as well as anyone can expect under such a situation. Let's reconvene in the morning. Captain, please cordon off the room that our saboteur was utilizing as we do not want anyone tampering with that lockbox!"

the Gabrielle – the Panama Canal – September 25th, 1933 - Early Morning
You all are awoken to the sounds of an alarm bell being rung on the ship!
What do you do?
Stanley Chastain
Stanley's first instinct is to reach for a non-existent alarm clock. His hand gropes the air for a few moments until his brain wakes up enough to recognize that this isn't the sort of alarm he can just turn off to continue sleeping. Panic starts to set it and the adrenaline wakes him up the rest of the way. He grabs his glasses and fumbles them on as he makes his expedited way up to the main deck. Unless someone finds him before he gets topside, he'll try to find someone who knows what's going on once he's gotten there.

the Gabrielle – the Panama Canal – September 25th, 1933 - Early Morning
As you get topside you see the Captain addressing the crew, "Men, we will search every last damn inch of this blasted ship and we will do it right now! Henning has escaped and we need to find him before he causes more mayhem".
Alphonso Wolf
Alphonso will start with the most critical systems of the ship not on the bridge and search the ship top to bottom making sure to look for hidden compartments or areas someone could stow themselves.
Stanley Chastain
Stanley will do his best to start looking. He wonders how it could be that he could have managed to get away on a boat, and how he could have managed to find someplace to even hide. It seems likely, therefore, that their quarry went overboard. It seems even more likely that at least one person was an accomplice to his escape. At this point Stanley wonders whether they're even going to make it to Australia, let alone Antarctica, if the majority of the crew is silently conspiring against them.

the Gabrielle – the Panama Canal – September 25th, 1933 - Early Morning
Stanley and Alphonso systematically search the ship for any conceivable space a human could fit.
Arnault's question is unanswered as the chaos of the night before it seems led to a lapse in security and perhaps judgment.
Phoebe and Arnault find all lifeboats accounted for.
Give me a dreaded Spot Hidden check!

the Gabrielle – the Panama Canal – September 25th, 1933 - Early Morning
Phoebe, Arnault, and Alphonso notice a tiny figure of a man in the water below. The figure appears to be floating...
Phoebe Barrett
Again! Really! Looking around for another one of the "life saver" rings...
Once Pheobe is sure she has a ring and that it is tied to the the rail she grabs it, "Make sure to pull us up! And go get the Doctor!" And without further ado she pulls the ring around her waist and jumps over the railing.
I think Pheobe might be a little insane... or a bit of a adrenaline junkie ;) Clearly I should have focused in swim. What checks do you want from me?
Stanley Chastain
Stanley continues his examination of the ceilings, blissfully ignorant of the situation until he meets a crew member who seems to be in a hurry to get back topside. He takes a bit of a detour before heading back to the main deck, looking for a set of binoculars to better see what's going on in the water.

I think my "throw" landed at my feet, probably got the rope caught around my leg XD
"Phoebe!!" Arnault screams as she leaps over the side of the boat. "Pheobe's overboard!" he frantically looks back and forth not knowing if he should run for the doctor or stay to pull up the rope! " Help! Help! " he screams, deciding to stay, ready to pull them up when the time comes.

the Gabrielle – the Panama Canal – September 25th, 1933 - Early Morning
Phoebe jumps into the drink with the life preserver Arnault dropped at his feet around her!
Make a Dex x5 check. Failure will result in landing in the water awkwardly and taking some injuries. With the life preserver no swim check needed, the water is calm and warm.
As the crew races to the side of the ship Phoebe reaches the side of the man who is overboard floating. As she turns his face over she looks into the eyes of a dead man, a dead man named Henning. A man no longer missing who has turned up dead...

the Gabrielle – the Panama Canal – September 25th, 1933 - Early Morning
Phoebe falling damage - 1d6 ⇒ 1.
The brave Nurse lands awkwardly form the massive dive spraining her ankle.
Eventually the crew pull Phoebe and the remains of Henning on board. The question becomes how did he get out here?
The crew begins to discuss it and their suspicions turn to dark accusations against Starkweather...
What do you all do?
Stanley Chastain
Stanley listens to all the opinions, and starts to wonder if maybe they're right to suspect Starkweather's involvement in the demise of the saboteur. Their expedition leader is so heavily invested in the success of this venture, that it's possible that he would be willing to go to extremes to ensure that whatever problems aren't due to simple bad luck are stopped in their tracks.
Suspecting the ones who brought him here in the first place is very taxing, and he proves to be even more quiet than usual. He tries to think if there are any reasons that it absolutely can't be true, and if he can come up with anything he'll share, but otherwise doesn't have much to add to the situation.
