That part I bolded is a great point. Like I said it has been a long time since I have been a DM and it is also the reason I am running a one shot adventure vs an AP or homebrew campaign. I want to test the waters and see where I need to improve.
Yup, hence my eagerness to give feedback. =)

Okay, this might be one of those situations that shatters the "fluff V crunch" fallacy. DM, Please describe our immediate environment in as much detail as you can manage.

Very well then, since you have destroyed the odd door. You heard the sounds of frightened voices and running feet. There were faint lights far to the north. Which as it turns out was an illusionary hallway intended to make PC's run down the hallway and fall to your death into a pool of lava.
The walls of the real hallway are white alabaster and the floor is perfectly smooth grey marble the whole hallway(which is about 50' long)is actually a giant balanced team which will begin to tip once the weight of a character is applied at least 30 feet from the door.
If you have any further queries please feel free to ask.

If I may digress a little: I know we've got a few Silicon Valleyites here. Speaking as a Silicon Valleyite who just happens to have been trapped somewhere I totally don't belong for the past several years, I want to ask: How's the water? I'm hearing terrible things.

What might we find if we tried tipping the floor the other direction (as in, tip the teeter-totter downward, but downward toward beneath our end of the hall)? Is that even possible?

Great Scott! The Astonishing ADD-Man is at it again!
"Two pits along the way will be found to lead to a fortuitous fall, so check the wall."
How else DOES one "check" a wall...?

Ask yourself this, what would you check a wall for?
And if you have already searched for it in your current locale it must be somewhere else

Okey-dokey, I've just been blindsided - would you mind clarifying to me what just happened? I'm not certain I'm clear (granted, I have not been having a great day).
Yes, the dollhouse furniture is nifty.

Ravens discovered the secret door was back in the pit traps we bypassed. Jeneva and Ta'ruk went back to investigate Ravens hollering. We all made splinters of the pews to have a safe base to stand in the last pit trap. Ta'ruk just went down to check out the secret door and opened it. Haze in the hallway and he just tossed a piece of pew into the hallway to try to set off the inevitable trap.

Roger - is my Seugathi still around, by the way (i.e. has it still been less than 9 minutes since I summoned it)?

Skiron wrote:Roger - is my Seugathi still around, by the way (i.e. has it still been less than 9 minutes since I summoned it)?Your summoned monsters are your responsibility, but I would say it's been more than 9 minutes what with the destruction of my churches pews and such.
Yes, but judging in-game time would necessarily be yours.

I'd like to know (assuming it's now safe to inquire); what was the deal with that room that caused my Seugathi to shift alignment?
Skiron |
Skiron: No need for a knowledge check yet, Your 3 creatures form behind the regal lich and attack, hitting him 3 times...He is unhappy, he moves forward 5' and cast a spell at you [dice=Will DC21]1d20+6. He hits you with Dominate Person.
He wants you to have your monsters to attack Ta'ruk and Ravens
Oh, no, it's the Puppetmastermaster Scenario! It looks bad - but wait...I'm a Tiefling - a "Native Outsider". If I comprehend some of the kind of talk that drove Aasimar and Tieflings out of Organized Play, doesn't that make me immune to "person" spells?

So going thorough the mists once switches your alignment and sex. Back in 1E(Which this module is) being changed from a man to a woman was a big deal.
As for your other point, I am not sure. Let me look it up.
EDIT: It looks like you are correct on the "Person" spells affecting outsiders. I will change his action.

Nota Bene: I'm about to go on a trip for 8 days. I should be able to keep my Internet and keep up...but I might not.

I like the way you're doing combat. Flat out saying whose turn it is. It helps us keep from getting bogged down and from stagnating because no one knows who is supposed to go.

I'm here. I did check in a while ago, but nothing had happened at that point. I'm presently on East Coast time. Can I retcon what you said I did (since the Mothmen didn't attack yet)? If so, I'd say I actually imbibe a cure moderate wounds infusion for: 2d8 + 9 ⇒ (7, 5) + 9 = 21 points of healing, and have my Mothmen bestow greater invisibility on myself, Jeneva, and Ravens.

I could be wrong, but I don't think the one missile at each image thing works. MM has a target of creature(s). The images are not creatures. The lich even knows their illusions, he just doesn't know which is the real creature.
That being said every missile would unerringly strike the real target and not the image.
Simon Demarkus |
Simon: I have been playing that you can target individual creatures. Perhaps it is a leftover rule from a previous edition. Either way, we will say you can target individual missiles.
Fair enough.

1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Yep. though I'm going to use the salve to get one con back for myself then the other will return upon resting. Molly's will return on resting. By tomorrow everything should be back to normal.
Skiron |
I'll dole out some cure serious wounds infusions for Jeneva and Ta'ruk before retiring for the night
Ta'ruk's: 3d8 + 9 ⇒ (8, 3, 4) + 9 = 24
Jeneva's: 3d8 + 9 ⇒ (1, 1, 7) + 9 = 18
Skiron |
Whoah, didn't notice that. Okey-doke....
Simon's: 3d8 + 9 ⇒ (6, 4, 7) + 9 = 26
With a...
cure light wounds chaser: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
Ta'ruk |
Did we rest one day or two? If it's two, then my con drain is gone and I am at full hp. Either way, I'm ready to go back in.
Edit: everything is updated except for my attacks which reflect haste.
Skiron |
No need to ponder the matter, in the absence of evidence our quarry is anywhere else, let's say we just hi-ho-hi-ho our way back in (first place I'd investigate is Acererak's chamber, since it didn't actually collapse).

Oh, dear. I'm thinking we're looking at the deadest of dead ends here. What avenues have we not yet explored?
