Hello all,
Well, as the thread title says, I'm curious if there are any potential players out there who may have had their interest piqued by EN Publishing's Zeitgeist adventure path? All that pulpy, steampunk-y goodness looks like fun to me, so I'd like to run the campaign as a pbp using the Pathfinder rules version. If you have little or no idea what this campaign's all about, there's a free player's guide you can download: HERE. It all seems very well done, if you're looking for a Pathfinder game that uses a setting other than Golarion.
For now, I'm just looking to see if there are 4-6 people out there who'd be interested in playing. If that seems like you, give a shout. Of course, I'll happily entertain questions as well.

Reading through I think I've got a character hook: an anatomist and student of criminology, who (most fortuitously) can speak with the recently deceased. His work with the local coroner is unnervingly detailed and disturbingly accurate and has drawn the attention of the Royal Homeland Constabulary. Despite the morbid nature of his field of interest (or perhaps because of it) he is terrifyingly upbeat, supernaturally polite, and (when his pipe isn't jammed in his jaw) is a remarkably annoying whistler.
Human of course (all the best whistlers are), with the Spirit Medium trait listed on p9 of the Player's Guide, but wouldn't have a clue what class he would be. Rogue possibly for the skillset, with the sneak attack representing his intimate anatomical knowledge?

Alchemist with the Vivisectionist archetype? You even get Sneak attack.

Yes I did see that, though the later powers are a bit... cruel? there was also the chirurgeon, but again, the Rogue beats them both as a skill monkey. There is the Rogue Archetype: Investigator that could work, too.
Oh and the Bard Detective.. but that's just silly.

Most excellent! It seems we've got more than enough interest already, so let's transition from the 'seeking interest' phase to the 'actively recruiting' phase. I'd like to leave things open for another day or so, just to see who else might have a character idea. The ideas I've seen so far are really great, though, and I'll definitely lean toward you seven 'early birds' who have already posted. That's not to say I can run seven PCs though. I'll probably stick to five, or at most, six.
Keep the cool ideas coming guys!

What character creation rules would you like use to use?
See above for preliminary thoughts, but I should also mention sources allowed.
The Zeitgeist Player's Guide is encouraged for use, of course.
Pathfinder Core Rulebook, APG, and Ultimate Magic: Most material should be fine, but I reserve the right to reject anything that I feel doesn't appropriately reflect the setting.
Ultimate Combat and PF Companion books: Some material may be allowed, please ask first.
Third party material: You can ask if you have your heart set on something, but don't hold your breath. I think the sources listed here offer more than enough options, frankly.

My Concept is Very basic, But i think it will add some challenge to the Rp aspect of the game.
I'm a female Elfaivar, who was saved/claimed by a powerful lord. he was Kind at first, and did his best to defent me and the kindgom against those who would try to take me. But eventually the strain on the Coffers of the kingdom was too much. Unable to continue funding the defense, the Lord decided to "loan" me out to orhter near by lords, So they may create Heir's to their kingdoms. Not approving of the idea of being a Baby factory, I stole away into the night, under the guise of young elven boy. The Character has cropped her hair short, and dresses/ acts very androgynous to blend in, and Pass themselfs off as a male. On the run, she ventures into the Human lands and falls in with a Group of pick pockets for a While, learning to use their griting skills to help hide herself in plain sight
I'm thinking of her as a some Kind of Rogue, Or Ninja (if allowed)
Thinking of working her up as a Vekeshi Mystic, This was Forced on her by her lord, As another means of "protection"

Before I begin putting a character stat together I'd like to run the idea of a Summoner that is perhaps skinned as someone who has built a Construct companion. So sorta like a clockworker. I'll design her eidelon to reflect a steampunk sorta vibe and write of her spells more or less as effects of different methods by which she trigger her construct to function.
Sound good or no?

Sounds awesome to me :)

I am interested though I am never done a Pbp, If there is an opening I would like to play a oracle, probably having the flame mystery. I am thinking a gnome or human. I will look through the players guide and make up a character background to post. Right now I am thinking he will have been some sort of factory worker who got caught in a fire, his body becoming badly burned and scared(a somewhat re-flavoring of the wasting curse) Although the fire almost killed him, he felt something enter him, driving him to seek to bring warmth and comfort to the down trodden and seek fiery justice to the wicked!

I've been very interested in checking this campaign out! It sounds like a great blending of the fantasy Pathfinder game into a steampunk setting. My thought is to play a human gunslinger who used to work as a freelance private investigator until business dried up and, on the verge of going completely broke, conceded to work for the RHC. More detail to follow if the idea is approved of.

Right now, I have two possible character concept ideas, both of which could be interesting. The first is a sort of noble who has decided to strike out and mix with the common man in order to make a name for himself rather than being stuck under the shadow of his family's (not that he would hesitate using it if need be to get out of a sticky situation), and the RHC seems like an excellent, honorable way to start doing this. He would be a more martial character, quite possibly a Gunslinger (if that's okay) who uses pistols, but also knows his way around a sword.
Another character concept is a clockwork/steamtech alchemist, whose extracts and mutagens would be reflavored to not be things that are drunk, but rather little pieces of technology; for example a Strength Mutagen might be a lightweight, experimental exoskeleton that protects and augments its user for a while before needing to be recharged, that sort of thing.
And a third idea that just popped in my head would be a sort of Master Spy character (eventually getting to the Prestige Class) who would be a spy/infiltrator for the RHC.
Hmmm... Decisions, decisions...

I fleshed out my concept a bit, and I verge towards a Cavalier of the Order of the Tome, with the Musketeer and Luring Cavalier archetypes if those are allowed. As stated previously, it'll be a dwarf, and I guess I'll pick a Technologist theme. His alignment will be LN.
He used to work as a guard for the Avery Coast railroad, but was sacked when he stumbled upon evidence of ties between the bandits which were harassing the railroad and a corrupt member of the board of directors.
He left Drakr as he feared assassination, and applied to RHC.
He follows teachings of a sect within Heid Eschatol which states that an ending of one thing is always the beginning of another. This has led him to develop interest in ancient religious texts, describing gods and afterlife.
He has a knack for tinkering with automatons and contraptions. He feels as if he's creating an artificial life, and is thus becoming a bit of a god himself.

I'm firming up my character concept right now. I'm definitely going with a skyseer inquisitor with the night domain and I have a few questions:
Is there a favored weapon of "the old religion"?
Does astrology fall under knowledge nature, arcana, or something else?
If I take martial weapon proficiency (sap), will you allow staged-up saps as one-handed or two-handed weapons? I'm imagining basically a big flexible club, perhaps a cloak or large sack with a few pounds of sand or silver pieces sewn into the lining.
It seems like the nature of the things in the night might be a plot point, can I take favored judgement with "the things in the night" as the favored race? Or would I be pretty safe to just take Fey...?
How will starting equipment work? Are we using standard starting character wealth, or will the RHC issue us some of the pricier starting gear?

It looks like we have 10 potential players who have shown serious interest (maybe 11, depending on whether Heaven's Agent submits a concept). That's plenty to pick from, so I'm going to go ahead and draw the line here for applicant names. My choice of players will be made from among the following:
scranford
loimprevisto
AlanM
flykiller
mangalore
Pixel Cube
Josh Shrader
Lass
Yosef

Here's my first character sumbission, character details and background are in the profile page. I would also like to submit a Martial Scientist later on, since the idea intrigues me. You decide which one of them should I play.
I take it that we aren't using traits. Am I correct?
I haven't decided yet for sure, but there's a good chance that you are correct (i.e., we won't use traits).

Yes, go ahead and run with this idea, I think it's great. Bear in mind, this is coming from someone who tends to avoid the summoner class, so that should tell you how much I like it. :)

This may just be the perfect setting for a gunslinger, so I have no objection to that class.

Decisions indeed! All strong ideas.
As an aside, I really like how some of you are conceptually repurposing the flavor of certain class mechanics to better serve the setting. I love that kind of thing.

Answers:
1. Nothing is specified that I can see, but any weapon appropriate to druids would be an acceptable choice.
2. I'd place astrology under the heading of Arcana (as opposed to astronomy, which I'd call Nature).
3. Regarding the sap, you can take liberties with descriptions, but not mechanics (if I'm understanding your question correctly)
4. I'd say call the favored race fey, based on what I know right now. We can revisit and adjust later on, if necessary.
5. Average starting wealth per class, the RHC won't be providing anything extra for now.

Having thought more about this, I've firmly decided that we won't use traits. Rather, I'd like each character to choose one of the theme feats presented in the player's guide.

Pixel Cube here, here's my second character: a noble half-orc martial artist. Fluff and crunch are in the character page.
Just to clarify: I'd like to play both characters, so you are eventually gonna pick which one. But if you decide to run two groups instead of just one (there isn't shortage of players it seems) the idea of playing with very different characters in both groups intrigues me. Anyway, it's your call.

When I stated ninja, it would just be the Basis for the Character, not the "classic" ninja Style Character. She is someone who goes to great lengths to Hide who she actually is. The With out a trace aspect of the Ninja Class appealed to me in this case, But there are a Number of Other Classes I could use. Rogue (with the Cameleon archtype) would also work. The ninja also being a bit Mystical in Nature also seemed to fit in with the Elves, who seem to have a Supernatural way about them in general.
I'm ok with using Rogue (although it looks like we have a few), or even the Urban ranger Archtype would work aswell.
