cant remember were i saw it but a animal companion cant be a magical animal so and when a animal companion becomes a magical beast it loses its animal companion stuff unless a class ability says other wise but its always up to the @GM for final destitution. hope its helped a little bit wish i had a link for that

While not complete yet here is my entry, Lasta Wouj. He is a Paladin/Divine Tracker (Ranger). I may change a few things to get a bite attack.

Yes I apparently wanted to be as MAD as possible.

RPG Superstar 2012 Top 32

I'm at work and don't have time to work up a build right now, but I'd like to submit a swashbuckler/magus later tonight... If I don't miss the 10 aplicant window... The magus side would use the eldritch scion archetype with the draconic bloodline. The goal would be for him to be a suitable frontline fighter, though that might take a couple levels (depending on when/how often we get bonus feats).

Story: Born with shiny pink scales he was quickly cast out of his tribe just south of what he now knows is the Worldwound.. His tribe was one that fit the stereotype of kobolds, evil, thieving, not at all fun for one like him with pink scales. He wandered alone, moving from abandoned mine to abandoned mine, always staying one step ahead on his nomadic tribe that had sworn to kill him if they found them. He would skulk and steal from his former tribe, and sometimes raid empty campsites of humans to take their leavings, when the opportunity presented itself. One of these times he skulked outside a camp of humans as they discussed their land. He listened to the tenets of their goodly land, and he liked it. This is how he first learned of the Worldwound, this is how he first learned of the crusades, and the incredible Silver Dragon that lives in Kenebras. Maybe that is why he was born with scales that more closely resembled the noble metallic dragons rather than the chromatic. This was his way to escape the awful fate of most kobolds. Now if only he could find a way to earn the trust of the bigger folk.

He skulked, and listened longer, then moved about and skulked and listened. He eventually found himself in the Worldwound. This was not fun, but in the midst of it he discovered a caravan being attacked by monsters of some sort. Perhaps if he could help them against these walking beasts...the only question was how to do it. Priding himself on being one of the more clever kobolds he knew, he found himself stalking the caravan until the next evening where he patrolled the camp and set various traps, both magical and mundane to alert and help protect the travelers.

The attack came, and as he planned his traps alerted the defenders, once the fight had begun, he appeared in the midst of the defenders summoning up grease that sent the demons sprawling, and tossing globs of acid and sparks of electricity. The battle ended and the humans turned to him to thank him, thinking him a halfling or gnome...things almost ended for our hero then and there, but one small child spoke up for him. He had defended them after all. He was taken prisoner and over the coming days slowly ingratiated himself to them, and upon arrival at Kenebras has been given leave to go.

Now if only he can meet that dragon...

Monk (Zen Archer)/Bard (Dervish Dancer)

He lost light sensitivity and darkvision because he's a surface-dwelling Kobold who travels with a circus, doing an act where he can shoot two apples at once while they're in the air (Flurry of Blows) and can even shoot a coin out of the air (Perfect Strike).

I'll add more background, his physical description, and finish up his skills/gear/traits/feat when I get off of work. :)

Also, I'd prefer to have a different color of scales than the other kobolds because in my head right now, I'm imagining the Mighty Morphin Kobold Rangers, lol.

I am planning on focusing on conjuration spells with my kobold, but not being a summoner, type...is that stupid?

From the Mother to the Father:
Livyathen was a simple kobold. Liv enjoyed the hard work mining, the close ties of hthe mining villages inhabitants, and the rythmic sounds of picks and hammers that echoed on through the night. They helped with sleep.

Born with blue scales, a rarity for the village, Livyathan also had to learn about the wonders of the Grand Mother, She Who Rules the Unborn, Lamashtu. The young kobold devoured the religion with a zeal that surprised the priests... but wanted more. What other deities were there? Livyathan strove to find out during his sparse amount of time alone.

Then, one day, the mystery was solved. Digging after a vine of iron, Livyathan didn't realize the floor was caving until it was far too late, and the little blue tumbled down and down, head over tail over head again, and landed in a small chamber. In it, on a small stone cube, rested a simple golden necklace attached to what looked like a small, silver robin's egg. Etched on it was a symbols Livyathan was not familiar with, but knowledge -and purpose- flooded the kobold when the necklace was put on.

Apsu needed help.

His child yearned to explore the world of mortals, to see and taste and learn. But the world was dangerous, even for a god's children!

But Livyathan could help. Livyathan could be the proxy through which young Tamara could roam.

Livyathan became a God Caller that day....

Escape! The Journey to Kanabres!:

Unfortunately, Livyathan's departure from Lamashtu's faith did not go unnoticed, and it was through sheer luck and the knowledge that Apsu, greatest of the dragons, need the kobold to live.

Save for what is now an ugly scar down the back, Livyathan escaped with the egg necklace and swiftly fled the region, heading east as he felt the pull to go where the sun, blinding as it was, rose. It took a year of walking in both sun and starlight before Apsu showed Livyathan what the destination was.

In a dream the blue saw an ugly scar upon the land. Black, vile ichor rose up from it in bits and pieces to floor the land.

"Demons." The Great Dragon said. "Go to the city near this scar, and there you may meet its greatest protector. The Silver Landy will help guide you and my child to your destinies...."

The next morning, filled with energy, Livyathan began the walk anew. After all, it was never a good idea to keep a dirty waiting.

Livyathan Coretin is a Summoner/Shaman kobold, working as an agent for Apsu.

Maar the Volcano Monk - Unfortunately, zen archer is still a monk archetype, and I'm disallowing monks for this game. Sorry.

Riuk / Xildhal - Your ability scores only seem to cost 23 points, and you have Int and Cha listed as giving you +1 despite only being marked as 11. Were they supposed to be set to 12? If so, you should have at least 7 skill ranks, or 8 if that's how you're using your favored class bonus, which doesn't seem to have been applied to your hit points. Monitor lizards are indeed allowed, and it would make perfect sense for kobolds to feel a special kinship towards them.

Lord Foul II - Obtain Familiar is a 3.5 rule, which would be considered 3rd party and disallowed. There are means of obtaining a familiar such as Eldritch Heritage (Arcane), but combining the abilities of a familiar and animal companion is a unique class ability for shamans. (And one not available until at least level 16. Interestingly enough, a halfling nature shaman can have a hybrid animal companion/familiar with an Int score of 24 at level 20, 9 points better than a wizard's familiar at level 20. Not something I had known before today!)

DM Crustypeanut - I am inclined to say 'no' to crafting items ahead of time, but while the AP does have downtime to spend on crafting, you advance all the way to level 6 before actually having any meaningful downtime at all, which is a long time to wait to use a skill. Let me think on this before making a ruling, okay? (And don't please nudge me about it if I forget.)

CaptainFord / Skalezaar - Dragon Breath unfortunately does not count as a combat feat, but kobold racial feats are one of the things I am planning on handing out as free bonus feats in lieu of mythic ascension (representing Apsu's favor granting you greater access to your draconic heritage). The first such bonus would come at the end of the first book, if that helps at all with your decision-making.

MiniGM - The Occultist archetype for Arcanists is arguably a stronger summoner type than any Summoner except the Master Summoner. Or did I misread that and you mean a conjuration-focused caster who instead focuses on spells other than summoning? (Such as teleportation and the like.) I see nothing wrong with that, and you could still be quite powerful at battlefield control.

Have I missed any questions?

sorry, I mean I don't plan on being a summoner at all. IE focusing on spells like grease, create pit, glitter dust, etc. At level 1 I will be using grease mostly

It kind of feeds into his trappy nature. Note that the level 1 kobold bloodline ability is the ability to put a magical trap on the ground.

Skalezaar "Skales" wrote:

@Icehawk would you mind I used Aardiac as the dragon herald who directed Skales to Kenabres? I left it vague, but seeing as you're taking the dragon herald archetype, it might make for some interesting dynamic to have them already known each other a little bit. (A proud, martial-focused, physical big brother-esque type to her small, mystical, slightly-sadistic little sister-esque type?)

Also, does the Dragon Breath feat count as a combat feat or a racial feat? I'm planning to take it and grab Noxious Bite so I can sicken everything I bite, and depending on the answer, it will affect how soon I can snag the combo.

Not at all! That sounds neat.

This is the knind of spell my other kobold, oozula, foucsed on.

It's not bad at all, making you a good debuffer.

At low levels, create pit can simply remove combatants entirely for quite a while.

Dark Archive

I hope I am not to late to submit a character this shall be fun, I will have it ready fairly soon.

it seemed to make sense to me icehawk, but one thing I have learned is that there is always someone on the forums that will tell you if you are making a huge mistake

Alrighty then! I'll hold off on purchasing gear until I know either way. Will be working on fluff in the meantime.

yes i was asking if you were going to allow animal companion archetypes is in totem guide?

forgot my other traits

1. Carnation Scaled: unless I misread that and I an take that for free
2. Gravel Walker
3. Arcane Temper or something that gives a bonus to Fort

Shadow Lodge

Well then crap, that nearly junks the character, I've never had a DM say no to that question before (I've only asked in gestalt games but still)
Hmm... I'll look Ito shamen, but I'll probably go for a new character concept...

Well, usually, if you have to ask for mechanics, then the answer is no, foul.

Building A character. Thinking Kobolt paladin/Fighter. (Archer Style)

Shadow Lodge

Not in my expirence
(I only ask when, were it a home game I was GMing I would allow it)
Maybe a paladin/oracle...

Definitely interested assuming submissions are still being accepted.

Don't think we've hit 10 yet.

Dotting. No ideas yet, but I love the concept of the game; a good alignment low-tier monster race game with gestalt rules. Sounds like a blast!

i made the changes to my characterXildhal
and i crunched his animal companionXildhal's animal Zxil
let me know what you thinlk

You subtract your STR penalty when using a bow.

GM Mackenzie? Although the Gunslinger class is banned, would the Bolt-Ace crossbow Archetype be considered?

My heart is in no way set on that, I'm just on my first glance through, and considering options...

Someone already asked, and got a yes, as long as you remove all lingering gun-stuff, and gun smithing is replaced with... Something. Forgot what. I'll check.

GM Mackenzie wrote:

As long as you swap Gunsmithing for Extra Grit, no firearms proficiency, and you don't get to start the game with a broken firearm. I have no idea why the archetype left those class features unmodified.

Hmm. Weird; I ran a search of the thread for the word "Bolt" and got zero hits, so assumed it had not been asked. Wonder what happened. Thanks for the info all the same though!

Longbow

At almost 5 feet in height, a longbow is made up of one solid piece of carefully curved wood.

Description: You need two hands to use a bow, regardless of its size. A longbow is too unwieldy to use while you are mounted. If you have a penalty for low Strength, apply it to damage rolls when you use a longbow. If you have a Strength bonus, you can apply it to damage rolls when you use a composite longbow (see below), but not when you use a regular longbow.

Eastern Version: Daikyu This long curved bow made of laminated bamboo or wood, and favored by many samurai, is equivalent to a longbow.

MiniGM wrote:

Well, that's kinda what the trait implies.

ok ty then ill change it to a crossbow then

Vithy lived in a silver dragons lair with his tribe, and actually met the Silver Dragon. One day, while training with the other Kobolts, he decided he didn't want to just be another Kobolt and approached the Silver Dragon again. He learned a lot from The Great Silver one, and with his faith in Apsu, The Silver Dragon told him about the "calling". The Dragon said the calling happened to a rare few, who would become Paladins. The Dragon said he believed Vithy felt the call, and wanted to train Vithy.

Vithy Said yes. Soon the training began. Vithy worked hard organizing everything in the lair and cleaning. For two years he worked as hard as he could to set up a good spot to train. After those two years, The Great Being of Silver said he found a good weapon for Vithy, a bow. Vithy treasured the bow. The Dragon also gave vithy some armour, and Helped Vithy train. Vithy learned justice and honor, and a hatred of evil.

The Dragon Later sent Vithy off to the Worldwound, so Vithy could help as many people as possible in a place full of evil.

Vithy has shiny silver scales, And a scar over his left eye. He has only 4 teeth, and has a few little horns on his head. He also has mismatched eyes, one blue, one orange.
This is Helix

i know, I chose it for that reason, just looking at the level of creativity on the thread, its going to be rough going

hilarious

You are aware of the crossbow's reload time, correct?

Also...
As a waring, you want that feat that removes the -4 for shooting into melee ASAP.

Unless you take weapon finesse, so you can hit in melee.

yes i know of the reload time im thinking of changing my feat to point blank shot or rapid reload what was the feat to get rid of the -4 i can't

remember

Point blank shot is the prequisite for...

Precise shot? Let me check.

Edit-
Yep, precise shot for the removal of the penalty.

This sounds quite intriguing! How do you feel about the Guided weapon enchantment? I'm not even sure I'll go there, but was considering how to make a kobold that can go to town with his walking stick.

Sovereign Court

Aw well I'll just go ahead and delete that alias then. Good luck guys.

Deity's favored weapon is quarterstaff.

Guided hand.

As for the damage, I'm not certain there.

since guided is 3.5, and not in PF I suspect that will be a no go.

closest thing you've got to a replacement.
