1 person marked this as a favorite.

"Feee-eeh!"

Lureene starts as Tut collapses over her shoulder, with what can only be described as a cross between a gasp and a sigh. Fearing that the little fellow just had a coronary, she checks on him, indifferent to the location of his little hands, but finds that he has merely passed out.

Sasha turns away from her assessment of the giant pile of rubble in the entry chamber, laughing nervously. "Uh, I've heard about monkeys on your back and albatrosses around your neck, but I think that little guy's got something there..."

Lureene winces at Tut's hands grasping her firmly in a quite tender place, while nodding in response to Sasha, "Yeah, he definitely has something in hand."

She adds after a moment, "He should be ok though..."

Not too far away, Mal sighs as he and Priyya try to see if they can figure out a way to cure the poison affecting Darvesch. Unable to do much more than get in the way, the big man leaves the sturdy patient to Priyya, but she doesn't have much more luck than the ranger.

"Well, I can try to neutralize it but potent as it is, there's no guarantee it will work. Our best be might be to get you back to Aycenia and see if there's something she can do..."

Sasha looks up from stroking the golden tuft of hair that crowns Tut's tiny head. "Hey, do you think maybe there's an antidote for that stuff further down? Maybe if you just kill that snake you can milk it for some venom and we can go jack one of those goats!"

Mal looks about ready to berate Sasha again when he just throws his hands up. "Assuming we can kill it, I think it will take a bit longer than we've got to catch a goat, inject it with venom and then concentrate serum from its blood. That's assuming we even had the right tools, mind you."

Lureene strokes King Tut tenderly, as she recalls if she had even seen any goats on this Gods-forsaken rock.

Shrugging her shoulders, she replies, "Maybe Sash is onto something, Mal. Nylithita may have had stores of antidote in her chambers, for use when she was alive. We should find her chambers, I'll bet they are further down, where I saw her first."

Are we on Rounds still? Or do you want general actions?

Male Sky Elf Game Master lv 20

General actions are fine.

Darvesch wrote:
"I agree. Let's pick up whatever might be on these bodies, quickly check any of the remaining tunnels and hallways for anything that may have been left behind, and get the hell out of here. If we have any designs for coming back down here, remember that damnable snake."

OK, that's 2 out of 3.

Mal looks at the sleeping monkey draped limply over Lureene's shoulder and frowns.

If Alis got trampled we'll have to find our own way back out of here. Guess a tropical island isn't a bad place to lay low for letting her get killed on my watch...

"Alright, Darvesch, let's get your hauberk cinched up again. We'll check out the tunnels and see if we can't find something for you."

Turning to the rest of you, he asks, "Any objections?"

MAP: VV - Caves of the Mother, (Round 303)

It takes about another minute or two for the towering sergeant to finish helping Darvesch get his breastplate resituated. You are just about to move out when King Tut suddenly pushes himself up, looks around and goes, "Ooo?"

Priyya also looks up towards the ceiling, hand drifting towards the bow on her back.

Was that Tut I just heard, it feels like he's close. That sounded like armor too...

"Tut?" Alis pauses by the window grate where she's lashing a silk rope beside the one that got snapped when the balcony collapsed.

"Darvesch, El! Are you guys down there?"

Round 320

Lureene calls out in response, a definite note of relief in her voice, "Yes, 'Lis we are all here and in one piece. Is there anyway you can get a rope to us?" Apparently she is unaware of the fact Alis is already ahead of her.

"Already on it! Is everyone else down there too? Are you ok?"

"Yeah, we are all ok, but Darvesch got poisoned!"

Dwarf Lightbringer

"It's nothing. I'll be fine for now. The sooner we get this over with, the sooner we can rest. We need to be rested for Ieana."

A knotted silk rope soon descends from on high. With no balcony to suspend it in the center of the hole, it hangs from the side instead J17.

As if shot from a catapult, Tut vaults off Lureene's should and bounds across the debris field before vanishing up the rope to his mistress. You hear brief laughter from up above.

"Alright, well I'll keep watch from up where the balcony used to be. Use a thunderstone if you need me, I'm exhausted!"

Round 324

"'Lis, do you still have my wand, or has it been expended? If you still need it, I can let you keep using it, though."

"Oh right! Coming down..."

A moment later King Tut comes scrambling down the rope head first, two wands held in his tail. He leaps from timber to timber and in a single leap jumps up into Lureene's arms.

"Aaa-aaa-aaa! Oo-oo-oo!"

Transferring the rather scorched-looking wand to his hands, he gives a shrill laugh and plants them straight up in the succubus' cleavage before leaping of and high-tailing it back up the rope. Although she cannot see her, Lureene is fairly certain that 'Lis is having a good laugh at her expense right now.

"Sooorry if it's a bit blackened, it saw some pretty heavy use. That giant lizard chased me all the way down to the bay before she finally dropped. I thought my heart would burst!"

She gives a loud sigh and you hear what sounds like her plopping down on the ground. "Aaany whooo, I'm fine so go ahead and use other wand if anyone needs to get patched up. Tut, you be good and keep your eyes open, ok? Mommy needs a nap."

Round 330

Lureene chuckles at the antics of King Tut, and then actually blushes when she sees Sasha looking at her.

"That is OK, 'Lis. It kept you alive, that is all that matters to me." She waves up to her sister, and adds "Be careful, 'Lis. Ieana is still lurking out there."

Just before she turns away, something occurs to her. She turns back to the opening and yells up to 'Lis "It will be just like we napped together back in that theatre back in Valehaven, what was that play we saw called again...?" Lureene is concerned Alis may have been dominated by Ieana.

"At Valeria's?!" Alis asks, her tone incredulous. "What about me getting chased by a living siege engine brought that to mind? Oh and for the record, you were the one who was out cold. I rather enjoyed 'Epica' thankyouverymuch! You wouldn't fall asleep if I took you to see a play, would you Tut? Hey, don't yawn at me like that!"

Lureene nods in satisfaction, Ok I think 'Lis is herself, which is good to know. She stores her own wand back into its wrish sheath, and hands the other wand to Mal.

"OK 'Lis we are leaving now. Be safe up there, and we will see you soon."

"We could get you a little suit, a walking stick, a– Will do, be careful! a pair of tiny opera glasses, oh and a fancy silk neck scarf! No? You don't like that? Don't stick your tongue out at me! Fine well we'll dress you up like a little girl then if that's how you're going to be. It's going to be pink and frills for you if you don't mind your manners!"

Mal shakes his head, wishing he wasn't within earshot of Alis' conversation with her pet monkey. As everyone ranks up and heads you, he taps those who need it with Alis' wand to get everyone a bit closer to fighting condition. As Sasha is about to fall-in he shakes a heavy hand at her. "Don't think so. Climb that rope and keep a look-out. And this time, stay up there."

Sasha looks about ready to protest when he sticks a clawed finger in her face. "If Alis wants to come down here again for some reason, you have my permission to tie her to a bed post or something."

Lureene OR Perception DC 25 (Darvesch):
"Well Sergeant Slaughter doesn't like me so I'm heading back up. Watch out, I think he's on the rag or something."

It takes you about a minute to return to the cistern room. Darvesch pauses briefly by the fissure leading to the Cathedral where you fled the giant undead cobra and raises an eyebrow at the rest of you.

Which way?

MAP: VV - Caves of the Mother, (Round 345)

Lureene laughs softly at Sasha and gives her a wink.

As the group returns to the cistern chamber, she looks down into the cathedral room and shudders. "We should check the south passageway first, to make sure nothing is lurking there. I don't want to be ambushed should we be forced to retreat."

"I'll go first. Mal, you got my back?" Darvesch dismisses Sasha's comment, and prays, mentally, for Kahn to keep Sasha and Alis safe. He crouches, and slowly walks to the south, trying to be as quiet as he can.

Mal nods. "Got you covered."

As you pass the breach in the cavewall leading to the cathedral, Darvesch can hear no sound whatsoever from within. In fact the only sounds he hears echoing throughout the caverns are your footsteps and the very faint sound of distant surf.

Noting his observation to the others, he leads you south. You enter a cavern approximately 15 feet deep and 60 feet across. The smoothness of the walls tells Darvesch this place was formed naturally by the sea. The whole chamber slopes downward to the west where it narrows into a passageway leading to what you suspect is the cave adjoining the first ledge in the cistern room.

While Darvesch takes in these details, Mal nudges you in the arm and points out some faint carvings on the eastern wall.

Dwarf Lightbringer

Darvesch investigates the carvings, wondering if he's seen something like them before. He asks quietly "Can someone sketch these real quick, so we might investigate their meaning later?"

If he knows anything about them now, he'll make a mental note of it and move on to the passage to the west.

If he doesn't know anything about them now, he'll ask the following before moving to the west:
"Unless someone else knows something about these.."

Male Sky Elf Game Master lv 20

The carvings do not register as magical. Unfortunately they don't register as anything you can make sense of either.

Darvesch only vaguely notes that they look similar to runes he's seen taken from only the most ancient and deepest of delvings. Lureene finds that they bear a resemblance to draconic (and to the runes on Nylithati's headband) but the meaning of them wholly eludes her.

Rolls:
? 1d20 ⇒ 17

Lureene takes a quill out and quickly sketches the carvings out on a blank page in her spellbook. "I sure hope 'Lis can make sense of this. If there is some ancient evil that is buried here, we need to learn as much as possible about it."

Dwarf Lightbringer

"Thanks, Lureene." Darvesch waits for Lureene to finish the sketches before leading the group to the west.

Priyya frowns, turning her attention to the next passageway. "The problem is, the evil here didn't stay buried. I plan to correct that..."

Dwarf Lightbringer

Thinking out loud, "What if that snake was the evil that was burried?"

Lureene shakes her head, "No Darv, I believe that snake was an avatar of the ancient evil source. Destroying the avatar will not destroy the evil, unfortunately."

She chews on a fingernail for a moment before she adds, "I believe Nylithita called him Typhon."

Dwarf Lightbringer

"It'd make me feel better, nonetheless.." he shows a half-cocked smile.

K:Religion 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 29 Does Typhon ring a bell?

Male Sky Elf Game Master lv 20

Darvesch muses upon the name for a while. Typhon... Typhon... It sounds only vaguely familiar, perhaps the name of one of the Titans of old. Of course humans and Malatestans in particular seem to invent their own names for damn near everything so it's difficult to say with any certainty at this juncture.

He does know that just as the gods are primarily spiritual manifestations of ideals that the titans were primarily physical embodiments of archetypes. However, legends hold that all of them perished when even the race of elves was still young — around the same time that the moons were cleaved from where the Silver Sea now stands.

Dwarf Lightbringer

Darvesch tables the thought for later discussion, and leads the group to the west, carefully.

Rolls:

Male Sky Elf Game Master lv 20

As you proceed westward and downward, Priyya's scabbard strikes the cavern wall causing Talvyra to startle. For a moment you stand in start silence, listening for the sound of danger, but only the faint sound surf can be heard from beyond passageway leading north from the room you have just entered.

Bones lie strewn about the floor of this wide, tapering cavern. The grisly remains appear to have been gnawed upon so that they are cracked and jagged. Judging by bits of cloth and cured fur, this must have been a member of the cannibal tribe that you killed earlier.

Immediately to your right, a gap in the north wall leads to the first ledge overlooking the cistern. Further west is another opening thru which you can feel a cool breeze and hear the gentle sound of surf. As before, the passageway slopes further down.

Lureene nearly jumps out of her boots when Priyya startles her. Once the group has determined no threats exist, she whispers "If we continue on the downward passageway, it should lead to where I first saw Nylithita."

Dwarf Lightbringer

"Nothing here in this room. Let's check the one to the north." He proceeds to the north

Male Sky Elf Game Master lv 20

A cavern ledge leads down to a small, sandy beach in this large cave, the majority of which is taken up by a sloshing pool of seawater. Judging by the water level and deposits on the shore, it appears to be low tide. As Mal scouts down the beach to get a better vantage, Darvesch examines tracks in the sand. He determines that the ghouls must use the sea caves as their means of entry and egress.

To your right, another passageway slopes upwards, no doubt towards where Lureene first spied Nylithati.
