"A dire-weasel I have! A beautiful animal with a black and white coat. Loyal, reliable, intelligent and very able to defend itself if left alone." the voice responds eagerly.

At that Zamoth spoke up again
"Then it is decided! The group shall go forth and convince our neighbouring Orcs to attack the town, then come to the town's rescue and convince them to work for us. Is there anything else before we choose those who will go forth?"
There is some murmuring in the crowd before Fetin speaks up
"Orks often speak common. How will we stop them from announcing to the town that they have been double crossed?"

"well then good brother, send your dire weasel with the chosen on their quest!"Grigg cheers the breeder
he chuckles with joy as Fetin brings up the point he was first worried about.
"how will the others ensure their dealings are kept secret?" He muses to himself. Then he turns to Fetin and says.
"we could compensate them, though that is less than ideal.I'm sure Brother boom-boom is well prepared to deal with those who would attempt to spread the news"

Male Kobold Level 1 Pistolero/Level 3 Trench Fighter

Boom-Boom pauses while he considers the question initially, then speaks slow at first, his pace picking up as the thoughts apparently begin lining themselves up. "In heat of moment, things use native tongue. Too busy fighting to think about speaking unless necessary. Also, unlikely that they will... explain enough to make humans turn against us? If they yell 'Traitors!' before they begin attacking us, longshanks will think that orcs think like them. That orcs think we monsters like them, and are traitors to monsters. Not that we tricked them into attacking. Unlikely that they will specify our plan in enough detail that we will be thwarted. Actions speak louder than words, so even if they do say it, longshanks still likely to give us time of day at least, then we just say orcs found out our desire to ally with longshanks and attempted to sabotage it in dying spite."

Clashing, pauses for a moment longer before stating further thoughts. "Also, very few of us know Orcish, but many more know Common. Dealings with orcs likely to be in Common, we know. Orcs not fit to speak language of dragons, and we not stoop to speak the pig-men's language. By this, we know who on raid will speak Common, attack them first, likely they leaders too, best for tactics anyway." Boom-Boom's tail slowly sways back and forth, clearly feeling rather pleased with himself. "But this likely unneeded caution, for orc to speak in Common and say 'You bastards betrayed us and sold us out to the humans! You filthy landlubbers! How dare you lure us into an attack on the settlement to put us in a pincer maneuver and use our lives t' make diplomatic in roads with 'em!' is very unlikely unless they figure out plan very quickly, know Common, think straight, not pay attention to fighting, and not dead. But if there's only one or two who speak Common, we wait before speak of protecting town till they dead."

Then with a very human shrug, Boom-Boom grins "If everyone so worried of orcs making speeches in battle. This much we can do."

Kobold Inquisitor 2 "Call me Inspector" 15/15 HP

"I have traveled the orc lands, and seen the interactions of their tribes. I do not think very many of them would think twice at the opportunity for a profitable raid. By the time they notice us attacking them on the battlefield, their bloodlust will be up anyway. It's a good plan, my Lord." Neemer nods as he finishes talking.

Male Mul Wizard (Enhancement) 5

"We just have to find very stupid orcs then. Should not be hard." Kax stands tall. "Could even pay the dumb orcs, then regain gold after plan is done and they are dead."

Sovereign Court

Chronicle Sheets GM Busy At Work........

Scram speaks up now.

"I do know the Orc tongue and a few others. We could perhaps lie to them and get both orcs and longshanks to fofht first. "

Grigg clicks and tongue, none of the plans seem particularly good to him.

Male

We've gotten into the full character creation phase. Look in the recruitment thread

Male

For now you are all carrying your full packs, but soon you will be putting stuff on your pack animal. Can you please each post here the weight of what you'll be putting on the Dire Weasel. If he is not heavily loaded, then I will give hgim some free armour.

Male Mul Wizard (Enhancement) 5

Kax carries all his own gear.

Male

Scratch Will be getting studded leather armour then.

Male Kobold Level 1 Pistolero/Level 3 Trench Fighter

For what he has, Clashing Boom-Boom will be saddling Scratch with the following. Yeah he kind of travels heavy. :P

Small Tent (10 GP 20lb)
Hammock (0.1 GP 3lb)
Block and Tackle (5 GP, 5lbs)
Blanket (0.5, 3lbs)
Rope, 50ft (1 gp, 10lbs)
Material for x50 Firearm Bullets (5 GP, 1lb)
Matierial for x50 Doses of Black Powder (50 GP, 2.5lb)

Adjusted what he was personally carrying to saddle himself with more weight, currently at about 49.5, but since he's now carrying his MW backpack, his carry capacity is up to 18 STR effectively, or 50lbs for the light load.

Clashing Boom-Boom wrote:

Fair enough, but could we as players not really let things keep going this direction? I really don't want to start picking appart the rules to point out that if we're using these, then I also improved Kax's mood towards me by one step (most likely to friendly) as he's part of the crowd, and that in the one minute long action to intimidate me after my diplomacy, I just do a one round diplomacy check to make a request of Kax and have him happily give me the leadership position with fuss and in fact thinks Ipreek is a great guy. :\

Things just go south real fast and usually end in Coup De Grace attacks in the night when things like this happen.

Edit: As for other actions, Ipreek's just going to be gathering his belongings, avoiding Kax for the duration of the Intimidate, and then returning to Leumoth's chambers.

As a GM I won't be throwing intimidate/diplomacy/etc at PCs etc. I also won't be sticking stringently to the rules.

In this case when 2 players are throwing these things around and no-one is reacting to the other then all I have is the rules to resolve the issue and move things forward. It would be nicer if we could resolve these things in RP and be accepting of failure, but it's your game play it as you wish.

The game has a certain amount of implied backstabbing, so I understand IC arguments occurring. I hope they do not grow to OOC arguments.

Let's just move on and deal with problems as they come. I find players (GM inclusive) take some time to get used to eachother.

Anyone who tries to intimidate the Dragon will auto-fail and die... If you try diplomacy, you best succeed, or you'll die... Be thee warned!

already planning to push the group in a direction where there might be less mass murder. failure rate is very high....

Even trying to Reason with a dragon is ludicrous, seeing how things have been going so far.

Sorry for the delay being.. too long. I really didn't expect it either. If you'll still have me, I'm ready.

Male

We'll have to work you in after the group finish speaking with Luemoth. I only have 1 more thing I want to do with them there, so you won't have to wait too long.

What kit do you want on the weasel? Please list everything and give me a total weight.

I'm using the enmoumberance rules, so please give me a total weight for the kit your carrying also and how encoumbered you are. You can ignore the weight of money.

Shadow Lodge

HP: 16/22

I don't believe anything I'm carrying is too heavy for me, but I could be wrong. I'll check in a bit.

Male

Also could you put your background into your profile. I'm going to say you are a younger cousin of the Chieftain, to work you into the plot. Is that OK with you?

That's fine, and my background is in my profile under the Recruitment spoiler.

No clue who Boom-Boom is then, 'cause he sure ain't Megatron. Maybe the dread pirate LeChuck?

I ain't singing that however.....

Male Mul Wizard (Enhancement) 5

I know one trait has to be from the 'scale color' ones. Did we get a second trait as well?

Male Kobold Level 1 Pistolero/Level 3 Trench Fighter

Green kobolds got a secondary trait, though I think everyone else is relegated to one. That said, I think we can choose from the generic kobold list as well. Like I took "Kobold Faith."

I'll try to post as often as I can, if I'm holding up the game, bot me as needed.

well scam can always hide in a corner and wait for the danger to pass....

Male Kobold Level 1 Pistolero/Level 3 Trench Fighter

All good Scram, sorry to hear the hospital has to be one of your major stops. Hope things get better.

Male Kobold Level 1 Pistolero/Level 3 Trench Fighter

Hey everyone, just dropping this message in all my games. I'm heading into the mountains on a camping trip come tomorrow, and I'm going to be entirely off the grid as it were. I won't get back till sometime Sunday afternoon. Bot me as needed, and I'll see you all when I get back.

Male

I've got a wedding to go to tomorrow so my posting will be spotty at best for the weekend too.

GM Larkin wrote:
So now, in any order we have Kax, Grigg, Ssslic and Yraalik

That will take us into turn 2.

This is how I generally deal with iniative to keep ccombat relitivly fast. It means more regular posters can kill steal, but I see no problem with that.

As I said, you can generally expect maps in later combats, but this one is just to get you used to how I run combat in PbP. Also it will let you see how everyone works together. I really don't expect the horde of level 1 goblins to be much of an issue to you.

Shadow Lodge

HP: 16/22

Are any of us in melee with the goblins? I don't think so..

Male Kobold Level 1 Pistolero/Level 3 Trench Fighter

Not as of yet, the goblins have spent this turn circling the party and seem to be getting ready to charge, but haven't gone into close range as of yet. Kax is attempting to get into meleeish range, but I'm not sure if he can reach them this round short of a charge.

Male Mul Wizard (Enhancement) 5

It's a little unclear what range they're at. It can't be that far as we were able to speak to them clearly.

Male

The closest one is about 40ft. They will be charging next turn. They are running straight at you.

male HP: 33/33 | AC: 15/13/12| Fort: +7 | Ref: +5 | Will: +8 | Init: +3 | Perc: +3 | CMB: +3 | CMD: 16|Shorsword: +4;1d4+1| hidden preist 4

Hey guys,i'll be out of the country for the next five days or so on vacation.I'll try to post best i can, but i am unsure of the strength of the wifi at the hotel. Feel free to bot me if need be.
Grigg will move into melee range and swing his shortsword at the goblins. He will make regular heal checks to see how close they are from death and will avoid dealing the killing blow to any of them.If turning in for the night,He will just use the rest of his channels to heal up himself
and the rest of the party
Sorry for any inconvenience caused!

Yraalik Gnomecheater wrote:
Sorry, I'm used to a turn order being posted at the end. My Serpent's Skull DM spoiled me I guess.

Please expand on this and I'll see if it's something I can do.

In order to speed things up in PbP I group the PC turns who are not seporatred by a NPC's turn together. That means it very much looks like a 2 turn system at the moment.

Shadow Lodge

HP: 16/22

Ooh, so if you post for the enemies then it's the pcs turn? That makes sense, I guess.

Quote:
Next Up: Makoa, Sasha, Ishirou, Untari (subject to delayed action), Water Elemental, Tar'kanas, Jask (subject to delayed action), Urza (subject to delayed action), Douena, Shokambe (subject to delayed action).

That's what my SS GM does, but it can slow things down a bit.

Male

Yes this is much faster and it rewards regular posters by allowing them to go first.

If there were 2 sets of bad guys they might split it up more. EG Goblins & Goblin Dogs might be something like:

Grigg the scarlet shamed - 22
Ssslic the Weakling - 21
Goblins Dogs- 18
Yraalik Gnomecheater - 16
Goblins - 15
Clashing Boom-Boom - 15
Kax - 10

So that would run like:
Grigg and Ssslic
Goblin Dogs
Yraalik
Goblins
Clashing, Kax, Grigg and Ssslic
Goblin Dogs
etc

Get it?
