I'll whisper a response.
Even if they hear a low whispered voice, since I'm invisible the most likely thing is they'll think it was one of them :)

Short and sweet...
Left tunnel. All kobolds are there.

Saktar relays the information to the rest of the team

Attack the left tunnel when we get inside that’s where our enemy waits

I’ll keep contact and ask again for their positions when we get nearer

Guys, after the answer from Tsin Tao, we are going to do as follows:
- Assume you are 20' away from the bottom of the stairs;
- I will need to know what your exact actions are (if you move, I need to know where);
- This is a surprise round, and it follows the rules for surprise rounds.

Surprise Round: If some but not all of the combatants are aware of their opponents, a surprise round happens before regular rounds begin. In initiative order (highest to lowest), combatants who started the battle aware of their opponents each take a standard or move action during the surprise round. You can also take free actions during the surprise round.

Init Tsin: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13

To make thing simple, we are going to assume you all go on Initiative count 12 - Tsin Tao went on 13, and you go immediately after. GO!

Male Human Arcanist 3 - HP:13/23; Available spells: 0/5; Init +5, Perception +3; Arc.Res:3/6 Loot list

Saktar advances behind the rest of the group. Calmly he waits for the first contact to choose his targets.

I advance behind everybody to the entrance of the cavern and wait for the rest of the group. After all attacks, I choose my target and cast a Magic Missile. I nobody attacks, I’ll choose the first beast I see

Grand Lodge

Male Half-Orc Ninja 3 - HP 13/18; Ki 1/3; Init. +6; Percep. +6 (+7 for traps) (-2 Wisdom)

I'm not sure anyone is waiting for me, but I won't reveal myself until the rest of the group gets into the room.

At that time I'll either backstab the last kobold as they all turn or move towards the door or move to block the corridor and attack any that try to flee. Whatever happens.

I call upon the power of Gorum and request to be blessed with the war blessing! (War Mind (minor))
After that I move 5 feet towards the bottom of the stairs ...

Grand Lodge

Male Dwarf Priest 3 HP:18/26 Spells:Spells (4/3+1/2+1/1)

If I can I charge someone to the left (R57 or R58)

charge: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
My attack didn’t count with the bonus to attack of the charge
damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

If I can’t I move to R57

Ok guys, let's get back on the road with this!

I have updated the 'Current Map' just below GM Obermind alias name - like I explained in the previous post, 'Assume you are 20' away from the bottom of the stairs'.

This means:
- No charging (can't charge on difficult terrain);
- Even though I had to create a new map and the coordinates are now slightly 'off' when compared with the last map update, Duncan your move is 20' so you could never go more than 20' in a surprise round. Since you are 20' away from the bottom, the further you could have went was the bottom of the stairs;
- Lokeemon I think your actions are fine - not sure 5' steps are allowed in the surprise round, but we'll look into that at another time;
- Saktar, when your round starts you see no enemies - assuming 5' steps are allowed in a surprise round, you still wouldn't be able to see an enemy, so I just moved you;
- Tsin Tao, if you are still planning on backstabbing, go ahead and attack ;)

As for the rest of you let me know if my interpretation is fine. If it is, we'll resolve Tsin's attack and then move to the next round.

GO!

Grand Lodge

Everything's fine with me, GO!

Grand Lodge

Male Half-Orc Ninja 3 - HP 13/18; Ki 1/3; Init. +6; Percep. +6 (+7 for traps) (-2 Wisdom)

Ok then, I open hostilities - I move to Q-55 and backstab the guy at P-55.

Attack Roll: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14

Damage Roll: 1d6 + 2 + 2d6 ⇒ (4) + 2 + (1, 2) = 9

I hope I got the numbers right...

There is a strong initial resistance as Tsin's dagger punctures through the kobold's back - it hits the spinal column but then slides gently to its left side, scraping bone, piercing a lung first, and then the creature's heart.

It doesn't even have time to be surprised, falling to the ground dead with a last, silent wheeze as Tsin Tao materializes over it.

---

The other creatures stare at the tiefling, mouth agape in astonishment for a second, then all Hell breaks loose.

One of the smaller ones (blue border) tries to dash to the corridor on the left, giving Tsin Tao a chance to strike again.

--> Tsin Tao you are entitled an Attack of Opportunity.

Another of the small ones (purple border) freezes in place, wetting himself, and then groveling on the floor - "Master! Big Boss!! Very strong!! No kell!!! Noooo keeeeel!!"

The warriors have a different attitude however, two of them closing in on the ninja as their immediate target (black and orange border flank Tsin Tao and attack).

Black Attack (spear): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Damage if it hits: 1d6 - 1 ⇒ (1) - 1 = 0

Orange Attack (spear): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Damage if it hits: 1d6 - 1 ⇒ (1) - 1 = 0

Their attacks are clumsy and poorly aimed however, and do not even come close to hitting.

The last combatant kobold (green border) snarls or yaps, or something of the sort, then heads off to face Duncan at the entrance to the room.

Green Attack (spear): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Damage if it hits: 1d6 - 1 ⇒ (5) - 1 = 4

In an effort to maintain the fighting standards, he fails miserably also.

Players GO! Tsin Tao, don't forget the AoO (if you wish to take it), before your regular actions. Map is updated

Grand Lodge

Male Dwarf Priest 3 HP:18/26 Spells:Spells (4/3+1/2+1/1)

I move to R57, and attack the warrior with yellow border. While I move and suffer an AoO, I say:
Tsin get the runner! I take care of these![/b]

attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

Grand Lodge

Male Half-Orc Ninja 3 - HP 13/18; Ki 1/3; Init. +6; Percep. +6 (+7 for traps) (-2 Wisdom)

Ok, this is my attack of opportunity on the fleeing guy:

Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5

Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

I'll see the result before I do my next post :)

Grand Lodge

Male Half-Orc Ninja 3 - HP 13/18; Ki 1/3; Init. +6; Percep. +6 (+7 for traps) (-2 Wisdom)

Ok, since my opportunity attack failed so miserably what I would like to do is move 5' to P-55, switch weapons to my short bow and shoot at the fleeing kobold.

Can I do all this in 1 round?

Spoiler:
1d20 ⇒ 12

As the kobold runs down the corridor, Tsin Tao thrusts his dagger aiming for the kidneys, but misses by a mile.

---

Duncan simply ignores the kobold in front of him, circling around him to attack the one fighting Tsin Tao. The kobold tries to puncture him with his spear, but the weapon slides harmlessly off the dwarf's chainmail.

As Duncan approaches, the one groveling on the floor squeals some more, and motions to crawl away.

The priest's swing is strong, but poorly aimed, and fails to hit the small creature completely.

Tsin Tao misses, Duncan misses, and the AoO from the kobold on Duncan also misses.

Grand Lodge

Male Half-Orc Ninja 3 - HP 13/18; Ki 1/3; Init. +6; Percep. +6 (+7 for traps) (-2 Wisdom)

I think I'm in this round still, I:
- Move 5' to P-55
- Drop my short sword
- Wield my short bow
- Shoot at the Kobold in M-56

Kill the wimp: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 201d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7

The kobold seems in panic as he runs down the tunnel but not for long -
the arrow shot from the ninja drops him like a sack of potatoes.

5' steps do not generate AoOs Tsin, but firing a bow does ;)

2d20 ⇒ (11, 12) = 23

Both Tsin's opponents swing madly as he fires his bow, but are unable to connect.

Waiting on actions from Saktar and Lokeemon.

Grand Lodge

Male Tiefling Warpriest 3 - HP: 18/26 Blessings 4/4 Fervor 2/4

My idea is to attack the kobold at T58 while being as close to the kobold at Q54.

My war blessing gives me +1 to attack.

If Saktar moves before I do I'll go: V60 - V59 - V58 - U57
If I move first: I believe the corner gives a defence bonus to the kobold, so I move to U58, provoking an attack of opportunity.

Attack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15
Damage: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 4) + 6 = 13

Grand Lodge

Male Human Arcanist 3 - HP:13/23; Available spells: 0/5; Init +5, Perception +3; Arc.Res:3/6 Loot list

Everything seems to be under control, so I enter the room calmly moving to V57.
I keep an eye for any one of them trying to flee, including the one cowering on the floor

If any tries, i'll cast a magic missile; if nof, i'll do nothing

Lokeemon, how long does your Blessing last? Could you please post the durations and effects on your headers?

The kobolds next to Tsin Tao yap, growl, reposition and attack the ninja! Both of them seem to have regained their composure and battle stance, and hit with sure swings.

Kobolds WIN!:
4d20 ⇒ (20, 1, 18, 19) = 58

Damage: 1d6 - 1 ⇒ (5) - 1 = 4
Damage: 1d6 - 1 ⇒ (5) - 1 = 4
Damage: 1d6 - 1 ⇒ (4) - 1 = 3

--> Tsin Tao takes 4 + 4 = 8 points of damage.

The one engaged with Lokeemon is able to deftly avoid the warpriest attack, launching a spear jab of his own that hits the mark, drawing blood, and causing him to let out a small YAP! of glee.

--> Lokeemon takes 3 points of damage.

The groveling kobold shifts his position, and just stands there whimpering - "Kibbo good, Kibbo friend!"

Please remember to keep your hit points up to date, and GO!

Grand Lodge

Male Half-Orc Ninja 3 - HP 13/18; Ki 1/3; Init. +6; Percep. +6 (+7 for traps) (-2 Wisdom)

I'm quite injured so I use Vanishing Trick, move to M-55 (half move) and save my action.

By save my action I mean I wait until the kobolds act. If any of them chase me or try to flee down the tunnel I attack, otherwise I decide at the end of the round.

Grand Lodge

Male Tiefling Warpriest 3 - HP: 18/26 Blessings 4/4 Fervor 2/4

I screen to the kobold that hurt me: Dam you creature!

My war blessing gives me +1 to attack.
I attack: Attack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24
Damage: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 6) + 6 = 15

Assuming I kill the kobold, I move to R55 without provoking attacks of opportunity from the kobold at Q55.

Waiting on actions from Duncan and Saktar.

Male Human Arcanist 3 - HP:13/23; Available spells: 0/5; Init +5, Perception +3; Arc.Res:3/6 Loot list

Saktar finnaly has enough and growls the words of his usual spell

Magic missile as usual, two for P56 and two for Q55, spending an arcane point.

first two: 2d4 + 4 ⇒ (2, 1) + 4 = 7

final two: 2d4 + 4 ⇒ (2, 3) + 4 = 9

Grand Lodge

Male Dwarf Priest 3 HP:18/26 Spells:Spells (4/3+1/2+1/1)

I cast “Channel Energy” everyone within 30 feet of me is healed

channel energy: 2d6 ⇒ (2, 5) = 7

Then I move in the direction of any kobold I see

A lot of things start happening at the same time - the first one to act is Tsin Tao, invoking his ninja tricks, vanishing from sight, and bailing away from the threat posed by the two kobolds.

2d20 ⇒ (3, 17) = 20

They sniff at the air, and grunt an half-witted "Huh?" - but are apparently unable to pinpoint the elusive hero's location, and thus do not even try to attack.

---

Seconds later, Lokeemon professes his weariness of the whole fight, and basically bisects the creature facing him, casually moving on to the next one, who now faces him with eyes wide open.

About at the same time, both Duncan and Saktar produce a display of magic - the priest healing everyone around him, exactly at the same time the kobolds are being hit by the magical missiles, which seem to have none or much lesser effect than expected on their enemies.

Since you guys are acting on the same initiative count, I'm gonna rule the damage and the heal occur simultaneously, which means one of the kobold eats 2 points of damage, and the other none. FUN! :D

---

"Yap, yap eneeee sar" - the one facing Lokeemon (black) barks, shifting his position and thrusting his spear at the warpriest, but failing miserably.

2d20 ⇒ (2, 13) = 15

The second one (orange) seems to believe also Lokeemon to be the greatest threat (after all, Duncan has just healed them :D), so he steps forward to attack the holy warrior also, but without any sort of success.

---

The groveling one simply grovels some more, and is probably now also crying after Saktar's arcane display, as he drags himself slightly away.

---

So:
- No damage to any of you;
- You are all healed for 7HP (Tsin Tao is riiiiight at the edge of the channel effect);
- Map is updated;
- Tsin Tao you are up - GO!

Grand Lodge

Male Half-Orc Ninja 3 - HP 13/18; Ki 1/3; Init. +6; Percep. +6 (+7 for traps) (-2 Wisdom)

Tsin Tao shoots at the Kobold in Q56:

Attack Roll: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11

Damage: 1d6 + 2 + 2d6 ⇒ (3) + 2 + (4, 4) = 13

If he dies, I do a half to where my sword was (P55 I think)

Tsin Tao fires a shot from afar, taking advantage from being unseen, but even if it takes the kobold by surprise, it bounces harmlessly off the small creature's armor.

Tsin Tao misses. Everyone else GO!

Grand Lodge

Male Tiefling Warpriest 3 - HP: 18/26 Blessings 4/4 Fervor 2/4

My war blessing gives me +1 to attack.
I attack the kobold at Q54

When Tsin disappeared I got worried and this was the only way I could heal him :-)
lets rally and continue guys

As Lokeemon continues splitting kobolds in twain, Duncan, apparently inspired by divine energies, swings his warhammer in a downward arc, hitting the top of his adversary's helm and producing a sickening cracking sound.

The creature's cranium cannot handle the pressure, and his enemy falls on the floor, eyes almost bursting out of their sockets, and blood trickling from mouth and nose.

Two more dead kobolds. One groveling kobold. Combat over!

Ok, this is done. Tsin continue your exploration, make sure we haven't been heard.

Saktar then points to the cowering kobold

As for this worm here, get rid of him, I'm sure he won't be in any hurry to come back

Somebody with good intimidation convince him to not come back and let's keep moving

"Nononononononono Sir Master of Magic!" - the kobold crawls to kneel in front of Saktar, bowing up and down - "Kibbo help master of magic and other masters! Masters are now Masters, and Kibbo like masters good!"

I step up to pick up my short sword and put away the bow.
I examine Kibbo head to toes like a bouncer at an inn, and then say:

"We're looking for some missing kids, and until we find them more will die. You should probably leave while you still can, and don't come back."

Bluff I guess?: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13

I'm telling the truth though, so maybe bluff isn't appropriate? I don't have intimidation or anything like that.

"Yes! Yeeeessssss!" - the kobold continues on his knees, but turns to Tsin Tao nodding madly, his head jerking up and down - "Yes Great Chief One-Shot! Kibbo know! Kibbo know things know of pink-skinned blood bags for the crown" - then pauses momentarily looking sheepishly at the ninja.

Grand Lodge

Male Human Arcanist 3 - HP:13/23; Available spells: 0/5; Init +5, Perception +3; Arc.Res:3/6 Loot list

Upon hearing this, Saktar approaches the creature

Speak wretched creature! Where are them?"

Saktar Intimidation: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12

"Master of Magic no harm Kibbo!" - he cries - "Kibbo tell!! Kibbo tell!!" - he circles on his hands and knees like a dog, and cries like a baby.

Once he manages to stop sobbing, he looks at Saktar again with bloodshot eyes - "But... Can Kibbo... Stay with masters...?"

Tsin, when you don't have Intimidate, you can roll a Charisma roll, though results above 10 are considered 10.

"Ok Kibbo, as long as you help us you can come with us. But don't even think about betraying us! The mage here can read minds, he'll know and we'll kill you without a second thought. Do you understand?"

Right, now I'm lying a bit and intimidating a bit too so I'll roll both

Who is the master in this mines?

"You!" - Kibbo opens his arms as if encompassing all the adventurers - "You are Masters, oh Great Healer from Sky!" - he grins.

"Was Merlokrep, mighty Dragon King of Truescale Kobolds..." - he stammers - "Pig skins down and down under with other prisoners. Their blood will wash away Truescale troubles..." - his voice trailing off until it is almost impossible to hear, as he sheepishly avoids looking at anyone directly.

"But no!" - he suddenly yaps - "Now new Masters! New Masters are Boss and win, and do what want with pig skins!"
