GM_SPECTRE |
There is nothing at first. Nothing but an empty void barren of all life. The only thing that greets you is a set of malevolent glowing eyes and the terrible words it speaks.
"We are eternal, the pinnacle of existence and evolution combined. Before us, you are nothing, mere embers that linger because we permit it. Now, you shall be extinguished because we demand it. Order must be imposed on the chaos."
"I am the Herald of your annihilation. Resistance is futile. Surrender and die."
Suddenly, the eyes are extinguished, and you feel something urging you to stand up. Begging for you to rise. It brings you out of the void, out of the nothingness.
"Wake up...please wake up!"
When you open your eyes, you find the cloudy mask of the quarian bartender. Closer looks around you reveal that the others you met at the bar are lying beside in similar states of semi-consciousness.
It is very dark in the area you are in, an enclosure littered with debris and ruined structures. There is barely any light fixtures that have power, and those that are are sparking mess just waiting to become an electrical hazard.
"Oh, thank the ancestors you're alright!" he breathes, and you notice him cradling a shotgun in his arms. "The amount of debris that you were pinned under had me worried that you wouldn't be getting up anytime soon..."
What are your reactions?
Enira Liis |
Enira rolls to her feat, her hand going to her backpack, a pistol appearing in her hand from the concealed holster. Her other hand checks the sniper rifle with a fleeting touch, and then brings up her omni tool.
Her eyes flick to every corner of the area, recording the details in a glance before moving back to the bartender. "Report, status."
Secundus, Turian Mercenary |
Secundus woke up, unsure of what had happened or how much time had passed. He did recognize the others he had met in the bar. Seems the Drell has seen some action before. That's always a plus, no matter what mess we have ended up in.
With the practiced ease of a soldier, he rolled into a crouching position, Phaeston in hand and observing his immediate surroundings. "My vitals seem to be in order. Anyone in need of medical attention?"
He then remembered the last moments before everything went black ... the building coming down upon him. He looked at the bartender cradling the shotgun. "Did you get us out on your own or are there others nearby?"
GM_SPECTRE |
You can see a clustered group of survivors, no more than forty or so people, huddled by a fire. Some are crying, others are in shock. There are those that desperately try to hail relatives and loved ones over their omni-tools, the only sound greeting them the harsh drone of white noise.
"Where do I begin?!" the quarian mutters. "The station's dead. Life support got taken out and the whole thing got torn to shreds under the assault of that ancestors-damned laser beam. Our part of the station managed to say relatively intact, but heavily damaged."
He gestures outside the enclosure. "Right now, you guys are in the remains of Station Security's barracks. It's been thirty minutes since the noises stopped, but I'm not putting down my shotgun anytime soon. The sergeant pulled you guys out, and he's gone looking for other survivors, but..." the quarian shudders for a moment before continuing. "It's too quiet. We're no longer a space station; we're on a floating tomb..."
Enira Liis |
Enira nods. "Priority, life support, weapons, method of egress. Whatever attacked us may be coming again. If we are attacked by a ship, we stand no chance, so no need to worry about it. Boarders may attack to salvage or steal. Avoidance of combat is warranted if possible, destruction of boarding forces will result in termination of wreckage from space." Enira uses a jolt of medigel, to heal up the damage from the debris.
Medigel: 1d6 ⇒ 5
Secundus, Turian Mercenary |
Using medigel is a full-round action rolling a First Aid skill check, where the skill result is the resultant healing, just saying :)
"Sounds like a good assessment of the situation. You're no stranger to sticky situations like these it seems?"
Secundus looked at the clustered group of survivors. Hope we can find something still operable on this rock that can fit all of them. This is not the place one wants to live their last moments.
Enira Liis |
*Sigh* I thought it was a CLW. Since I don't have First Aid, I don't know what use medigel is, nor why you said everyone had to have it if we can't use it.
Secundus, Turian Mercenary |
First Aid can be used untrained ... You roll a D20+Wisdom modifier, which is your result you get healed ... will cure you a lot more than a CLW in most cases ;) Due to the fact that I have a first aid of 7, I will always cure between 8 and 27 hp per use of medigel for example.
Enira Liis |
Ok, then there's no reason to use the medigel then, it's only 4 points of damage. So the medigel would be wasted at that point.
Enira Liis |
"Most likely." Enira says without passion.
Halar Zedan |
Halar rolls her head, her neck popping with an audible crack. She caught a lucky break; all of her equipment's in good shape. Working gear gives her back her confidence. She speaks with usual Elcor detachment. "<musing> They may have gotten away. Or they could be like us, in one of the <air quotations> 'safe' parts of the station. Hmm. We could get lucky and contact them."
She waves a large hand at the refugees. "<with conviction> Right now these people are our priority. They're civilians, they're not equipped to deal with potential boarders or a broken station. And we all need a way off this floating trash heap."
GM_SPECTRE |
Took awhile for me to come up with this one because of the audio I mixed for the scene. Hope you enjoy!
"I honestly couldn't tell you," the quarian replies to Mallene's question. "We're still trying to figure out what works and what doesn't work. But so far, we've been able to find out that long-range communication is offline and that the elevators to the other floors are nonoperational. Can't even be sure how long life support is going to last, but the floor was designed to have emergency generators-"
He is cut off by the noise of an explosion coming from the opposite end of the floor, soon accompanied by the sound of automatic gunfire. From a large door, a group of panicking and screaming civilians run out of out of the blaze, as if all hell was after them. Soon behind them are Sergeant Zerdok and his asari receptionist, unloading into the room beyond the doorway as they make a retreat back to the shelter you are in.
"There are geth on the station!" he roars through his combat helmet, vaulting over the crude barricade and taking up a firing position. "Alara, get the civilians to cover while I hold them off! You four!" he notices you and roars as the asari starts to herd the group towards a barricaded area further back into the barracks. [b]"You wanted a job?! Well here's your on-site training! Mow these filthy bastards down and protect the civilians at all costs!"
From the doorway, a large group of geth march forward towards the barracks.
Enira: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
Halar: 1d20 - 5 ⇒ (12) - 5 = 7
Mallene: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

Will make a tactical map. Please wait for the link...
Enira Liis |
When small arms fire erupts from the other room, Enira immediately does a backflip, holstering her pistol as she moves. She lands crates with a line of fire over the entire room, but primarily toward the door the sounds of gunfire came from.
Once laying on the crates, she pulls her sniper rifle off and extends.
When the krogan speaks, she replies with an utter calm. "Acquiring targets..." She might be a geth for all the emotion she shows as she replies tot he krogan.
Given the described events took at least 30 seconds, I'm assuming we will have a couple of rounds to prepare before the Krogan gets in, and possibly another before the geth come into view and combat starts..
Secundus, Turian Mercenary |
Secundus moved toward the barricade when he heard the gunfire coming from behind the large door. He held his Phaeston ready to shoot at anything that would come through.
When Sargeant Zerdok mentioned Geth, he double checked if his disruptor ammo was active. The only reply to Zerdok's orders was a simple "Understood Sir!"
GM_SPECTRE |
EDIT: Zerdok grabs the bartender and leaves you four to hold down the barricade, shouting about him being a last line of defense if things go south.
Because I already have enough people on the field as it is to make it confusing without adding a krogan and a quarian.
The two squads of geth guarding the Juggernaut's flank move to cover as they get closer, seeing you manning the barricade. They do not open fire because they focus on finding adequate protection. That being said, the shock troopers escorting the Juggernaut open fire on your position. The Juggernaut itself is too far away for its flamethrower to have any effect on you.
I assume all of you are behind cover at this point. So you all get the +2 Bonus to cover. Additionally, the cover that I have placed on this map is mostly crude barricades no more than three feet high. I will designate special cover with other bonuses for future maps, but assume that when you are adjacent to a box, the cover bonus applies.
The geth at w10 unleashes its Plasma Shotgun on Secundus.
S. Trooper w10 Attack 1: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26
Damage: 3d4 ⇒ (1, 4, 1) = 6
S. Trooper w10 Attack 2: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28
Confirming the Crit: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
Damage: 3d4 ⇒ (4, 4, 2) = 10 x 2 = 20 Damage.
Secundus takes 26 total damage.
What is your defense, Secundus?
---
The next shotgun blasts from w13 go to Halar.
S. Trooper w13 Attack 1: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9
Damage: 3d4 ⇒ (4, 1, 1) = 6
S. Trooper w13 Attack 2: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10
Damage: 3d4 ⇒ (3, 1, 2) = 6
The first blast hits Halar, but the second blast misses and disperses upon the barricade.
Halar takes 6 Damage in total.
PCs always win ties, be it out of combat or in combat.
It is your turn.
Enira Liis |
Eniira looks for an active power conduit within 60 ft and near one or more geth, with priority towards the Juggernaut. If there is one, she uses Overload on the power conduit to detonate it.
If there is no active power conduit within 60 ft and near one or more geth, she will look for any gas canisters near the geth, again priority the Juggernaut. If she finds one, she will shoot the gas canister.
If she doesn't find either, she'll hit the Juggernaut with an Overload.
I'll make rolls when the GM lets me know which of the 3 above occurs. Unless it doesn't require any rolls (overloading a conduit for example)
Secundus, Turian Mercenary |
Trying to structurize my post a bit well :)

Mallene will focus fire on the geth prime.
Get that damn things shields down so that I can warp the damn thing!
Halar Zedan |
Did Enira and Mallene kill any of the geth? I know Halar goes third and I'd hate to shoot something that's already dead lol. Should we be calling targets out? Also, are we going to say that cover stabilizes my guns? I think it still counts for me but I also think it'd be hard to do consider they're on my back. I wanted to check before I added it in
Enira Liis |
Still waiting on a ruling on finding conduits or gas canisters (or power packs for that matter). The cover should still give you a bonus Halar, as you can grab on to it, which would steady your body, which would steady your aim.
Halar Zedan |
Even though she's behind a barricade Halar's massive frame sticks up like a giant target. She decides her best bet is to keep mobile. The living tank starts moving south while firing on the large Geth
Evasive maneuvers time. I want to say she ends up on J16 but I might have that wrong. The side coordinates don't match up on the map so I just counted rows. By my calculations that puts the geth prime inside her shotgun range.
Mods: +2 defense for being on the move. Incendiary Ammo active. I don't know if Geth catch on fire but I sure hope so >:)

2/4 on her clip. The shotgun does 1d4 damage to creatures in a 10 foot spread around her target. Do you want me to do separate rolls for that damage or just go with half damage from successful attacks?
EDIT: I forgot, her first shot wont be withing range for the Prime. I adjusted it.
GM_SPECTRE |
Welcome Back.
By some sheer happenstance, a large piece of rubble falls from the sky to crush the Geth Juggernaut and the Geth surrounding it. There is a brief squeal of binary and electrical burst before all that's left is a growing puddle of leaking hydraulics.
Had to level the playing field somehow after Secundus pointed out the differences between the game and this RPG. You *should* be able to handle four geth shock troopers and two rocket troopers. Don't worry. You still get XP for the kills. Think of it as reparations for delaying the posting. XD
With the death of the juggernaut, the Geth Shock troopers switch out their plasma shotguns for geth pulse rifles. They don't seem quite keen on getting close to you guys.
That being said, the Rocket troopers are a different story.
The Geth at Y2 fires his rocket launcher at Enira.
Fire in the Hole!: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
Damage if hit: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 6, 5) = 17
The Geth at V22 fires his rocket launcher at Halar.
Fire in the Hole!: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20
Damage if hit: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 5, 1) = 12

Also has an action before the rocket troopers shoot that hasn't been used due to waiting for that vital, important, need to know information?

The Geth Shock troopers swapped out their guns because their shotguns were ineffective at the range they're at. That's what they spent their turn on.
Make a Perception Check.
Sorry for the delay. I completely forgot that you were waiting for that. My bad, my bad...
Enira Liis |
No problem, bot me as needed, I won't be able to post regularly until the 29th.
Spot: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14
If Enira can't see any conduits in range and near a geth, she'll instead snipe the closest one, feel free to roll for her if that happens.
GM_SPECTRE |
Sorry for the delay. Thanksgiving break was a nasty mess of uncoordinated planes and buses trying to get home. Additionally, I waited until the 2nd until Enira could come back so I could post. Bleargh...We're not dead yet!
You can see what appears to be a growing puddle of what appears to be a flammable substance, perhaps oil from a mechanic's stall. It has spread underneath the geth facing your left.
Enira Liis |
Enira scopes in on the puddle and fires her sniper rifle at it, trying to set it on fire. If that works, she'll then snipe the closest geth who's not on fire with her second shot.
Snipe Geth, if oil catches fire on first shot: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 4 + 2 = 15
