The other captain seems quite confident. And I am sure he has done this before, many times. I cannot imagine an intimidate roll high enough to get him to back down, much less give us his ring. He would loose face with his crew even if he wanted to.
I think this will result in a fight since most of us are unwilling to pay. And a fight might be required to get the ring. And when you must fight striking first is good. :) Though in truth at this point I think it will come down to initiative.
That is a fair point. And maybe if we do enough damage, maybe it'll cause him to surrender. How should we get the drop on them if we need to fight. Just start firing the siege engines?
Not sure we can get the drop on them. They have siege aimed at us as well. Maybe a good bluff to get a surprise round?

Go for it! Same as before, his Sense Motive vs your Bluff. But, remember, Edward already tried to fool him...he might be expecting more of the same!
Diana is only +4 in bluff but cfan try to assist. She can even roll twice so likely will succeed or a +2.
Isaac has a +7 to bluff. But, I think Edward has the best bluff modifier. So, I'll assist.
I don't suppose any aid other rolls, and a guidance spell, could retroactively make the original bluff work? I was aware of the penalties, and was sort of hoping the others would boost it. It would beat his sense motive by 1 if so.

I am unsure of what to (believeably) lie about to captain McSleazebag. If the aid others are not factored in retroactively, i will take a -20 on any unlikely lie.

I'm wondering if I should wait for Edward to make his Bluff check to give my aid another roll or if I should just roll first.
I am traveling starting tomorrow and will have limited posting time for about 15 days. Next week (visiting family) will not be as limiting as the following week (taking a 6 day class with long hours). Please bot me if you need to.
Had an impromptu week off with the missus due to a favor from a friend watching my kids and providing access to a nice resort condo! Now that my SO and I are sick of each other again, I'm able to get back into the swing of things. Expect a post tomorrow!

I think the plan was that we were going to bluff the enemy into dropping their guard so we can get the drop on them with out siege engines. I was waiting for Edward to make a bluff check and then I was going to post to try and assist him.
The problem with that, is that anything i'd currently try to bluff, will take a -20 penalty if it is unlikely, on account of that high sense motive result.
Which could be pretty much everything i'd come up with.
I have no inspiration what could work right now, and aid other won't be used retroactively, from what i gather.
I'll always welcome any bluff assists. :P

Well, if that Bluff check would be at a -20 penalty, then it may be best to just start swinging at them.

Hi Everyone!
Happy New year, and I hope all were able to enjoy friends and family during the holiday season, whatever you may have celebrated.
My apologies for my absence. November was a s#*#-show, every member of my family got sick multiple times (despite being vaccinated), mostly at the same time. That coupled with my work left me too exhausted physically and mentally to get on the boards here. Yes, I should have popped in with a notice here and there to let you know my situation.
Having missed quite a bit of time in November from work, my workload increased in December as I tried to catch up. In addition to that the holidays were getting into full swing with all of the activities and obligations that entails. Again, my apologies for not posting here to let you know I was still around.
I booked off of work and took the last half of December till now to decompress and relax.
I've also arranged to reduce my work obligations, the money is good, but the stress and time spent was a bit too much.
I'm back , mentally recharged, willing to continue if you are. I perfectly understand if your willingness to continue is lacking!
