Theodic fires (magic missiles?) into the room (that he has to light somehow or he has no shot--I'm going with he moves the dancing lights into the storage room because that makes sense), as Volar rushes in with a club! There's a lot of noise, the sound of movement, and sucking sounds, and giggling, and wailing, and shouting, and laughing, and the gnashing of a great many teeth upon armor. Durvak can see the thing's prehensile mouths working their way under his armor! For its part, the thing's cries continues to grow louder. The mouths not attached to the dwarf scream out in murderous ecstatic joy!

The fungal thing follows with fascination as Monterey hustles through the door and into the room with his sword.

The small barbarian swings his axe at the screaming, gibbering pile of goo attached to Durvak. Half of the goo's eyes blink (wink?) and swivel to look appraisingly at Monterey as the gnome's axe passes cleanly through the space it just flowed out of, while the rest of its eyes narrow in concentration upon Durvak.

From near the doorway the fungus nibbles at its tendrils in anticipation of what will happen next.

One of the thing's eyes casts a nonchalant glance skyward as the ray sails overhead. Meanwhile, a seemingly totally divorced part of its anatomy--backed up by teeth--seeks to find better purchase upon the dwarf's armor. Yet another large chunk of the mouth-eye goop is nonsensically debating with itself something to do with the relative heights of the dwarf and gnome. As it argues it becomes clear that it is coming to a unanimous agreement and parts of it begin leering expectantly at Monterey.

Smiler shakes his head and tries to focus. He remembers something about a fight and being told to attack something noisy with lots of mouths. He wonderers why he hasn't done that yet so he decides to make the most of his clear head and go make up for lost time.

He moves in, climbs the boxes and tries to hit the noisy mouth monster.

Volar sees how crowded the place is getting and decides to take a step back and re-think his tactics.

He decides to start casting a spell. If he can't reach the creature to hit it then maybe he can summon a creature to appear next to it instead.

Starting to cast Summon Monster 2. it takes 1 round so no killing it while he's chanting ok! ;)

I should have typed Summon Nature's Ally 2, but apart from that the action stays the same.

This is just disgusting.

Muffled fury is heard from inside the creature. Monterey continues to rage and have his claws out.

And Monterey! He'll try to fail his save though as he is trying for a Most Conditions Record and burning is a condition. ;)

reflex v alchemist's fire: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19 Nope!

After a series of blows from both within and without the wailing creature rears up to it's full height goes silent for one impossible moment and then, quite clearly, says in multi-speaker stereophonic sound: "'EIUTGEH!?"

In perfect Aklo:
"Really?"

Then is splashes to the tile floor like so much stomach-smelling, eyeball stew. The thing's teeth look like little kernels of corn.

END COMBAT

If it makes you feel any better, Durvak, I can say that, in the end, it was that 1 point of damage that did it.

Monterey emerges from the mess, panting and wheezing, claws retracting, bite marks all over his body. He looks at the party in his fatigued state, and sighs. In a dismissive, deep voice, he states "This museum sucks."

He begins shaking off goop dripping off his arms, and wipes down any mess all over his armor and body, stepping away from the veritable mess on the ground.

"At least I'm a gnome." Monterey says to himself, as he casts Prestidigitation to wipe off any excess goop from himself and his greatsword on the ground. He then re-sheathes the greatsword.

Gritting his teeth, "Anyone want to use my cure wand on me please?"

He also offers to help clean anyone while his spell is still going.

Will deal with healing math and stat line math in a little bit (He is down 12, due to one point from the missed alchemist fire... and also down 2 con). No one would happen to have a lesser restoration would they? ;)
