Feeling Bublaka's song calm her nerves, Alie takes a moment to aim carefully and sends a arcane beam of destruction coursing into the ghostly form of the avolakia. Mahuudril's hiss of pain echoes in the hallway. The beam however doesn't completely stop on the creature and actually pierces completely through, expending some of its power destroying a chunk of the wall behind the evil sorceress.

Did that account for Mahuudril's incorporeality? I thought her attacks all had 50% failure rate - part of why I stayed to risk them.


Yes, it did. I have been rolling the damage as half. It used to be 50% miss rate now we just halve the damage instead in Pathfinder. Except for her dagger, which is quite solid.


Friar Ferez immediately notices that ghostly green worms rapidly begin forming all over Bublaka's body. Without immediate action they will likely consume him!

THe worms are just forming and are not actively affecting anything, nor interactable with as of yet.

So this derro can dimension door away without an AoO and then full-attack and then dimension door away?! That is 2 standard actions and a full-round action, all in 6 seconds! And over 200 hps! The developers were seriously smoking some good stuff!

Friar looks in disgust at Mahuudril. "We are not that easy to kill you idiot..not when Sarenrae dwarfs the power of your dead god." Friar casts defensively Breath of Life and touches Bubba, infusing him with energy and healing 61 points of damage. When he sees the bard open his eyes, he says "Teleport away damn it!"

GM, from the readied action description:
Your initiative result changes. For the rest of the encounter, your initiative result is the count on which you took the readied action, and you act immediately ahead of the character whose action triggered your readied action.

So, even if Friar's readied action occurred during Mahuudril's action, he still goes before her in the initiative count, so no simultaneous actions. Just wanted to be clear.

Checking the map, does Alie have line of sight on any of the baddies?


The d-door is cast defensively with an auto-make roll. Actually, we can't blame this one on the developers. This is a Pathfinder updated version of the character in the path, changed a bit because the classes she originally used in the path don't exist in Pathfinder. As too the crazy d-door abilities, they are from the Dimensional Savant feat chain (feel free to check it out, I wasn't personally familiar with it until I read this version of Venk!). Anyone can do it, it just takes alot of feats. GM Blood created this version of Venk and I am sure he would be thrilled to know his handiwork is being so well recieved ;)

Ferez: Your clarification is welcome and we are on the same page. I have been actually treating it mechanically as if you are going just before her. It just seemed like it would be less confusing for the others if I stated it that way and it made for some fun descriptions as you were healing him in the knick of time :)

Alie: You have clear line of sight to Mahuudril still. You can barely see Venk peeking around the corner behind you in the hallway on the far side of the room you are in.

Very cool build but he is only a threat to Alie and Bubba due to their low AC. We will deal with him in due time. Alie, I think it's time for rinse and repeat on Mahuu. 120 damage a round sounds pretty good to me. :)

Alie was getting really tired. She'd expended a great deal of her magic. But still, the leader hadnt respected her enough to hide from the sorceress. Alie decided to blast her again with her most powerful magics. Using persistent and maximized equations to enhance her spell, Alie targets the no good boss for her most favorite Ray spell, Disintegration. She keeps a tight grasp on her Piercing Rod to try to cut through any magical defenses.

By my calculations, with Spell Perfection, that's an 8th level spell. If my 8's are gone, I'll use a 9th level spell to cast it.

Does the avolakia count as undead while under this incorporeal effect? I would think not but if so add +10 hit and +10 damage:

Valgrim leaps forward and cuts a vicious blow through the things ghostly head while light rays burn into her.

The avolakia shrinks and once again takes on the ghostly form of the richly adorned older woman. The self-satisfied smirk completely wiped off her face she is barely able to stand. Her eyes flash with pure hatred and she sinks into the solid floor, disappearing from view.

I left her marker on the Roll20 map to indicate exactly where she just sunk into the floor.

Bub takes 44 more damage bringing him back down to -5. Not dead this time.

EDIT: Actually, since Venk can't actually see Valgrim's current location she will just go back to the other stairs as she doesn't want to risk showing up next to him in the well chamber if he hadn't left. So, she and the wyvern are not together at this point. Originally, I had her reappearring in the well chamber because Valgrim had left it but she wouldn't know that.

Ferez: With your high Knowledge(Religion) I would say that you are familiar enough with ghosts and such to understand that they have to stay near the surface of solid objects. Not that she is a ghost but you imagine it must be the same with her ability and in order to avoid an AOO she can't have gone far (5' step).

Valgrim lands three solid blows that cause the powerful avolakia sorceress to fall to the floor greviously wounded, unconscious, but still regenerating. Ferez unleashes his most powerful healing that makes everyones wounds and fatigue disappear completely. The priest of Sarenrae also dispels the stricken Mahuudril causing her to regain her solid form. The tenacious little derro doesn't give up easily even after Mahuudril falls and continues to harrass Bublaka. When the derro finally disappears the last time she doesn't reappear within view.

Friar casts Holy Sword, summoning a glowing 2-handed scimitar and moves up to be adjacent to Lumina and diagonal to the derro, who is hopefully prone on the ground.

Map needs to be corrected, as Valgrim is adjacent to wyvern and derro is flanking Valgrim. Now derro is between Valgrim and Lumina and Friar is next to Lumina. If prone, derro will provoke 3 AoOs if he stands up, one each from Friar, Lumina, and Valgrim.

Ok...getting this show back on the road...

Ferez/Lumina: While you succeeded at your trip check the little derro is actively flying. Your characters are very aware of this since she keeps appearing in the air all around them. So trip probably won't have much effect, not sure if this changes your action at all.

Her eyes snap open and her mouth gapes in a silent scream as she convulses, withers, and her immortal soul is forever eaten and destroyed. The bards eyes sparkle with newfound vigor and power as he absorbs the golden energy that is ripped from her.
