Tatienne Talbot
"I think it is safe to enter the room," Tatienne says, as she herself steps with a tentative step towards the cylinders. "There's a way to start the machine up again, but we'll release the electricity in a dangerous surge - unless we can figure a way to delicately release it a little at a time? Should we move on and tackle this later, or Kassiani, would you like to try?"
Kassiani's DD mod if much better than Taty's - and she has a +2 bonus from heroism to boot.
Zay
"If you two want to attempt it, I could bless both of you with some protection from lightning should things go wrong-- and Mister Fache and I could withdraw to the hallway," Zay suggests.
I could do 84 points of Prot from Energy on Taty and Kass-- 30 minute for one of you, 40 minutes for the other. I suggest that if we want to try the disable now, that I cast it just as a precaution
GM Netherpongo
As Tatienne continues investigating the room she notices three levers, one near each pillar. It appears as though pulling the levers at the same time will be needed to restart the system.
We'll wait a bit more to try to get Kassiani's OK on the jury-rig. If we don't hear from them & the party still wants to proceed I can roll for her. Pick out who will be pulling each lever & pick your spots on the map.
Tatienne Talbot
"Hmmm," Tatienne mumbles, drifting along the wall, her head swiveling between the pillars and the levers. "We'll need three people in the room to pull the pillars, and one to handle the surge. Zay, can your blessing work on all four of us?"
Moved Taty's token.
Aurelian Fache
Aurelian nods. He's sure he could avoid the lightning ... but he accepts Zay's spell to reassure them regardless.
I think we only need 3 of us? Taty actually has the fewest HP, so maybe she should stay outside. Either way, I moved my token as well.
Tatienne Talbot
I think we need three lever-pullers + one disable device person?
Zay
I can split comm. prot. as many ways as necessary, it just reduces overall time it will last, but I don't think that's our primary concern here. I'll cast it on all of us.
"I'd better just be safe. Hang on," says the cloud, and murmurs briefly before ghosting over each person with a light, wispy touch.
84 points of resist elect on each of us, 10 minutes for me, 20 minutes for everoyne else
Aurelian Fache
Sounds good. I'm also poking Kassiani; I know they were out of commission for a little while, but they may not be getting updates about new posts or something.
Kassiani Timarete
Kassiani is enraptured by the wonders of the gear room, workshop, and power plant. She could easily spend days or weeks among the partial constructs, inventions, and tools they contain. She treats the area as if she were on holy ground.
In fact, she begins she begins to dream of a future, hopefully not far away, when the place could be among the greatest of Brigh's sites of worship outside Numeria. Given the vast amount of time she would require tere to be satisfied, she doesn't fight against the more practical members of her group who want to keep moving on. Her plans and aspirations will have to take second place to finding the colonists in the present.
Kassiani studies the electrical apparatus until she's as satisfied as confident as she can be. Her understanding of how exactly to drain off the excess energy should work. She hopes.
She directs the effort, giving guidance to the others at the levers as she begins the process.
Casting Guidance for +1 on the DD check.

Good to see Kassiani back! I'm not so sure that it's good to acknowledge that my procrastination paid off in this case, but we'll have to take what we can get.
I said above that I would roll Kassiani's Disable check, but I reviewed the skill description and I don't see any reason to hold to that. I'd been thinking that it might be unknown whether the check passed or not, but I can't get that out of my Disable Device reading right now. So we'll proceed!
Kassiani works for a time on jury-rigging a diversion path for the excess power the party expects to be stored in the generators before she decides she is satisfied with her work.
Hm. It doesn't look like anyone moved to the third lever but we need someone there and I don't want to delay this any further so...
Third Lever Puller (1=Kassiani, 2=Zay): 1d2 ⇒ 2 - Zay pulls the lever. Kassiani can move her mini pre-battle if she would have done so before seeing the following events.
With a loud metallic screech, the bronze containers start opening, revealing a system of clockworks, coils, springs and crankshafts. Arcs of electricity begin to discharge from each container, and little by little, the clockwork gears start turning, shafts start moving back and forth, and coils start buzzing with energy. Inside each of the three containers, electricity starts converging into vaguely humanoid forms that sizzle with energy and seethe with rage.

"Awkward. Most of my offensive spells remaining to me today are... well... lightning," Zay mutters. "I might have to move out long enough to be useful in another way. Does anyone know what these are?"
Standard for full defense, +4 AC, puts me at 26 AC. Move action as per the map; I don't see the enemies on the map so I have no idea how many that provokes from, I'm assuming maybe two? I'll take the AOOs regardless.

Taty frowns as she hoists her longspear. "Unfortunate. They're lighting elementals. Metal weapons and armor conduct their attacks. They can fly, and are resistant to weapons."

Also importantly for Aurelian, they aren't subject to critical hits or precision damage due to being elementals.

Zay: I missed the opportunity attack vs Zay earlier when they moved away. The attack result is 27 with 11 slam damage & 6 electricity damage.
Kassiani's defensive spell against the elemental seems to sink home. The elemental's movements appear to slow slightly and she feels that she can see its reactions before it makes them. Save vs Anticipate Thoughts failed.
Perhaps unaware of what happened to it, the elemental moves up to the inquisitor and attempts to punish her impudence. Move then one slam. Attack result is 27 with 10 slam damage and 4 electricity damage.
On the far side of the room, Aurelian slashes his rapier twice against the elemental, scoring two hits but disappointing results. Some damage is mitigated on each blow but both do deal damage.
Continuing its furious assault, Aurelian's opponent smashes him with fists full of lightning. First attack result is 34 with 8 slam damage and 1 electricity damage. Second attack result is 26 with 8 slam damage & 6 electricity damage.

Both Kassiani and Aurelian strike hits on the elementals attacking them, although the durability natural to the elemental form prevents the blows from taking full effect.
Continuing their raging assault, the elementals attempt to respond in kind.
Kassiani: first attack result is 23 (might miss with your spell bonus?) for 8 slam damage & 6 electricity damage. The second attack is a potential crit off a natural 20. Kassiani takes 8 slam damage & 1 electricity damage, plus an additional crit bonus of 10 damage if a result of 26 confirms against her.
Aurelian: first attack result is a natural 1! That easily is parried and Aurelian can strike back at the elemental (which hits). The elemental's second slam gets a result of 27 for 7 slam damage & 2 electricity damage. After double checking the first round Intimidate's shaken duration, I found that it didn't work in the first place due to the -4 size penalty. Followup Intimidates are 5 harder each time, so the effective Intimidate DC for your next effort is 34.
Tatienne does indeed stabilize.

Despite the creature's bulk and momentum, Aurelian is able to step aside from its attack and score another hit. Aurelian's acrobatics succeeded. The elemental charged after him & rolled poorly. As far as potion feeding goes, remember that will take a full round action to feed it to Tatienne. So move + standard next turn, then standard the turn after that, provoking a bunch. It might be more efficient to get the potion next turn and attack, leaving the full round action for later.

Auroch, vs purple, flank: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11 Or not.
Zay surveys the scene and says something nasty in Druidic. Fortunately nobody else speaks that language.
Okay, this is a little complicated so just breaking it down here: the following is based on the assumption the room ceiling is at least 15 feet high, but if it's 20, do let me know... Since it's at least 15' for the sake of the 15' foot cylinders, the large elemental either has a space beneath it or above it. Zay will be moving through that space, arrow drawn on the map. I'm provoking twice, once from blue and once from red. AC 22 for those AOOs. Single move of 60' due to my elemental fly speed.
At end of move, I'm casting obscuring mist defensively. Cloud outline is drawn on the map.
Defensive cast, DC 17: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (6) + 11 = 17 Yeesh!!! a success is a success though
Despite Zay's own words to Aurelian to try to make it to the exit, it's Zay who streaks further in to the lightning charged room-- a cloud, blitzing away, taunting the elementals to strike it even though Zay was just hit again. Then abruptly scuddering to a stop-- and chanting. Mist starts to roil out from the small cloud....
Rules refresher, for my own sake too: Anything in the mist has concealment (20% miss chance) if 5 ft away. If MORE than 5 ft away, it's total concealment (50% miss chance), and, more importantly, attacks of opportunity cannot be executed. So this will hopefully give us a little leeway to perform certain actions. Sorry, I'm gambling here that this'll be helpful, cuz otherwise this looks pretty rough for us. If it winds up screwing us over worse, er... I tried?
(Auroch is still up with 7/22 hp, AC 13, elec resist 3.)
Zay quick stats: HP 54/71, AC 22, no metal, protect from electricity - 72

Once upon a time a long-term PFS player told me that I was one of the few people he trusted to cast Obscuring Mist. In my case, that also meant 'almost never'. Good job with it here. I'm not sure it will go well, but it should be helpful in ways that other actions might not have been.
IMO, scenario writers should be required to put things like light conditions & ceiling height in every room in a header section. Takes forever to find the note sometimes. In this case, the scenario says room heights in this part of the temple are 30' high unless otherwise stated, which should include the corridors. So plenty of room for this maneuver.
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Bonus Electricity Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 4
Red Elemental Opportunity vs Zay (squeezing): 1d20 + 16 - 4 ⇒ (15) + 16 - 4 = 27
Red Elemental Damage: 2d6 + 5 ⇒ (4, 2) + 5 = 11
Bonus Electricity Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 8
Blue Elemental Damage Taken: 23
Purple Elemental Damage Taken: 30
Both elementals strike out at Zay as they fly past.
Blue attack result is 23 for 7 damage & 4 electricity damage. Red opportunity result is 27 (counting squeezing) for 11 damage & 8 electricity damage.
Still raging, the larger elemental bashes the auroch into the ground before continuing to advance on Kassiani.
*grumble* I almost had the post done when the page refreshed on me and I lost most of it. The attack against the auroch is completely gone. Huge elemental almost can't fail to take out the critter though (which it did) so I'm just going to keep that result rather than rerolling. Fortunately for Kassiani & everyone else, there isn't room for the red elemental to get in her face this turn. It had plenty of movement.

Yeah, the auroch was just there ultimately to draw some attacks. Which it did. It served its purpose. :P And I hear you on obscuring mist. 98% of the time it's used it just effs over the party as bad as it does the monsters...... fingers crossed here.
Zay hisses as they take two more attacks, but continue despite the pain.

Missed Kassiani's spell. Sorry. Elemental fails its save.
Aurelian Fache
HP 30/57; Hero Points 2/2
AC 22, touch 15, flat-footed 18, CMD 21 (23 vs. disarm)
Fort +4, Ref +8, Will +2 (0/1 set mind; 0/4 charmed life; 0/1 defiant luck)
Panache: 1/4 (0/1 deed reroll); 0/1 inexplicable luck
Consumables: 0/1 swordmaster's flair
Effects: Electricity resistance (73 remaining); 3 Cha damage, outflank feat, 60 minutes
Keeping his sword in one hand to fend off any attacks he might spur, Aurelian pulls a bottle of healing potion from his belt. Ripping the cork from the bottle with his teeth, he then pours it down Tattiana's throat.
"Now is no time for sleeping," he says. "It is time to leave here, for these things have no weak points for Aurelian Fache to skewer!"
Healing for Tattiana: 3d8 + 5 ⇒ (4, 4, 8) + 5 = 21 Phew, we needed a good roll there
Parry (DC=attacker's roll), -2 for size: 1d20 + 13 - 2 ⇒ (20) + 13 - 2 = 31
Riposte (if parry succeeds): 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (13) + 13 = 26
Damage: 1d6 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
Concealment? High is good: 1d100 ⇒ 6
Blind-Fight reroll: 1d100 ⇒ 52 Phew!
I assume it will make an AoO or regular attack, so that will be my last panache.
Tatienne Talbot
Tatienne's eyes flutter open, confusion crossing her face for just a second. Ohhhh no, she thinks, as the last few seconds play across her mind. A quick appraisal of the situation didn't seem to be any better than when she was knocked out, though there was a fog, strangely enough, wafting about the room. Part of the machinery?
Scrambling to her feet, Taty calls upon her studies, casting a spell that will grant everyone nearby alacrity.
Swift: Archaeologist's Luck, Move: Stand from prone, Standard: cast haste. Should effect Aurelian and Zay.

I don't think the potion can go off yet, can it? It's a move action to get the potion and a full round action to give a potion to another character. (Core pg 478) I don't think Tatienne is up yet. On the upside, the critter can't see Aurelian right now, so no opportunity attack.
Edit: more reading done. Core page 186 says Aurelian can start the full round action this turn by using his standard. It will take his standard next round to complete the potion feeding though. I'm...still looking into when exactly the provoke should be, though "both" seems like the wrong answer.
Aurelian Fache
Huh. I'm not sure I ever knew it took a full round to feed a potion to another character. I think I've always treated it as a standard. Certainly doesn't help that I've fully switched to Second Edition, other than my PBPs.
Kassiani Timarete
Alright, that will add another -4 to the attacks from the elemental Kassiani is fighting.
Kassiani advances on the elemental in front of her to renew her attack against it. She thinks all she can really hope for is to keep it busy elsewhere while everyone else gets out of the room.
"You're going to have to hurry! There's not much difference between staying to fight and taking your sweet time to flee!"
Attack (Power, Two-handed): 1d20 + 14 - 2 ⇒ (19) + 14 - 2 = 31
Damage: 2d4 + 3 + 6 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (4, 2) + 3 + 6 + 2 + 2 = 19
Crit? (Power, Two-handed): 1d20 + 14 - 2 ⇒ (13) + 14 - 2 = 25
Damage: 2d4 + 3 + 6 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (3, 4) + 3 + 6 + 2 + 2 = 20

Aurelian uses the cover of the mist to start feeding a potion to Tatienne while Kassiani engages her target, hoping her arcane protections hold. Her precise cut strikes deep into the elemental.
Unfortunately, the elemental subtype makes these critters immune to critical hits. Kassiani's strike does land, however. The blue elemental is now bloodied.
The elemental Kassiani is fighting strikes back furiously. Counting +3 for metal and -4 for pain on these. It gets an attack result of 31 on the first strike for 9 damage and 5 electricity damage. The second attack is 25 for 7 damage and 4 electricity damage.
Emerging through the fog, the electricity surrounding the lightning elemental snarls against the mist and makes a popping sound as it courses between the ground and the larger generator chamber nearby. Aurelian manages to deftly turn its first attack aside as he lays another shallow wound on the creature. Undeterred, it continues to lash out at the swordsman.
First attack result is 19, which is parried & riposted. Second attack result is 28 for 10 damage & 2 electricity damage. I remembered the concealment miss chance.
As a just-in-case reminder, everyone should have some electricity protection remaining to help blunt the damage the party is taking. Be sure to mark down the separate Protection from Electricity hp pool.
Tatienne: your Haste didn't go off at all due to the potion-to-others timing, but if it had Tatienne wouldn't have been able to target Zay. She can't see them.
