Kasha Mvashti |
Kasha looks at the feather angrily, her eyes blazing with a desire to punish the enemies that keep launching assault after assault at their group or anyone involved with them.
The shamaness sighs, feeling a pang of guilt that she might have brought Lia into a more dangerous world than the one she'd been in before, by inviting her to join them.
Friday Daud |
Hearing Kasha sigh as well Friday looks at her but doesn't prod before turning back to the priest to take the feather, crumpling it slightly in his hands. "Ill tidings should not be kept as souvenirs."
Turning to face the Shamaness he adds "I talked with Zaiobe during the fight, everything is okay over on their side of things for the moment."

Exhaling in relief, Kasha tilts her head to the side as she looks at Friday. "How did you....you're very insightful you know that?" she says with a smile.
Friday Daud |
"Thank you, I wouldn't be a very good bodyguard otherwise." he says while trying to mimic Kasha's smile back at her. "My apologies if I overstepped."
Kasha Mvashti |
"Why would I think you....oh...um no you didn't overstep at all." Kasha says, a bit more color flowing into her already radiant complexion. "Thank you for putting my mind at ease."
Valeria Skendar |
"Well that's one less worry. Although if I knew you and Zaiobe could communicate telepathically without physical contact then I wouldn't have sent Xel off. Hopefully he's sensed my relief through our connection - really wish there was a way to turn that into actual communication."
"Anyway; let's make sure everyone here's okay then head back to the inn." She didn't want to give these bastards any more of a headstart than they already did, but running off in their state would be suicide. And if they were willing to escalate things to this degree, then there was no way they were going to go after them unprepared.
Kavell Speranta |
Not hearing the plan moving forward the Paladin Cleric of Shelyn continued to do all he could to save anyone within the rubble, Periodically when he was close to someone whom might still be alive, he channeled positive energy and then tried to find the best way to dig them out.
GM_Jadecat |
Several minutes pass before Haru, Shalelu, Koya & Zaiobe arrive on the scene. The elderly priestess sees what Kavell's doing and starts following suit, employing the blessings of Desna to heal the many wounded and injured that lie amongst the rubble of the once proud shrine to the Eternal Rose. The sounds of metal-clad footfalls signal the arrival of a detachment of guards that start pulling innocents from the rocky debris.
Zaiobe promptly rushes to Friday's side, ignoring the other wounded and focusing on him. <Darling! Are you alright? Is anything broken?>
Kasha Mvashti |
As her mother arrives with the others to help, Kasha feels a sense of relief, both at her presence and the fact that Sandru wasn't here, meaning he was keeping Lia safe.
Friday Daud |
Curious what she would do Friday was pleasantly surprised when Zaiobe began healing him.

”Thank you... now? We’re heading to a guild. It’s either their base, or they know where their base is.”
Kasha Mvashti |
Kasha breathes a sigh of relief as her mother suggests they call ithe a night."As much as well want to try to find Ukshakka now, we'd be better off at full strength. Besides I'd feel better if we were all there in case the launch another attack." she says tiredly
Valeria Skendar |
After getting back to the inn, Valeria had filled Ameiko in on what happened while doing some additional prep-work for the next day. The key one being finishing off some magical work on a bracelet she'd gotten years ago. She'd started modifying it to act as a metamagic focus - not something she strictly needed, but it would make things a bit easier for her. She hadn't finished it before that night because it had to be keyed to a particular form of metamagic and she hadn't taken the time to properly master any form of it yet.
She did, however, have a treatise on a rather more niche form of metamagic intended for combat and she was expecting some heavy battles while in Kalsgard. Fortunately, the treatise made a lot more sense to her now than it had originally and she'd had to reference it anyway to finish preparing the bracelet. It also helped her brush up on her knowledge of magical augmentation - while reminding herself that she still had to get around to putting together some handy haversacks when they had the time.
It took longer than expected, though, so between that and everything else that had happened, she was late getting to sleep and was the last to rise out of the group.
EDIT: The bracelet doesn't have any mechanical effects, it's just fluff for her taking Toppling Spell. Whatever benefits she gets out of it aren't enough to warrant mechanical representation.
Now let's hope that this time the site doesn't break when I try to edit this into the post.

Taking the time to check in on both Lia and Spivey, Kasha is relieved to find them, along with everyone else, alright. Easily falling into a tired sleep, the shamaness awakens early, as is her habit, noting the dense fog that blankets the city. "Ominous, but considering the day, I have a good feeling that we'll accomplish something today."
GM_Jadecat |
Lia and Spivey appear to be well-rested enough.
"I-I hope so..." Lia swallows. "...I'd hate for anything bad to happen to my rescuers." She adds with a shy smile.
Spivey bobs in the air with a playful smirk in Lia's direction.
So, what's everyone going to do today? There's the matter of possibly getting better gear for confronting the Frozen Shadows, there's legwork to be done about the Rimerunner's Guild...
Valeria Skendar |
At Breakfast...
"Best that some of us get some recon on the guild done," she mumbled into her coffee, still trying to properly wake up after her late night, "I've already sent Xel out to do some aerial scouting and he should be back before long. Sooner if he spots any sign of that blood raven or whatever it was called - or, knowing him, the moment he spots anything that vaguely looks like a black bird and'll leave a white streak behind him the whole way back." As frustrating as the familiar's cowardice could be at times, it did mean that he was unlikely to get killed or take unnecessary risks.
Truth be told, she wasn't expecting him to see all that much from outside but there was always the chance he'd see something, even if it was just potential entrances and exits.
Xel's Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21
I assume Xel's perception check could be that high - Ravens are Wisdom 15 and, as a familiar, can use Valeria's five ranks in Perception to get up to +7. If not, just take 1 off the result to go back to raven-standard perception checks.
Kasha Mvashti |
Kasha gives Lia a reassuring smile. "We'll be okay, in fact, I've called upon a little extra help, reaching out to the spirits of life and healing to give us a little extra help."
Catching both Lia's shy smile and Spivey's smirk, she gives the lyrakien a wry grin. "We'll be back safe and sound as long as I have anything to say about it." she says giving Lia's hand a little squeeze.
Getting a cup of herbal tea she nods at Valeria's suggestion, "I think the more we know about them the better, I'm a little tired of being surprise attacked.
Kavell Speranta |
"I did want to see about getting a few things for our long journey... and if we are attacking some secret society I want to be ready. "
He paused for a moment to work on some of his breakfast.
"If there is any sort of sneaking going on as we investigate the Rimerunners' guild im not sure its the sort of mission I am suited for."
Im not for splitting the party up per say, but if Kelda and Ishgha go with me and Spivey and Zaoibe tags along with you all its not like we are completely leaving ourselves open. If you are absolutely against that idea of course it wont take much to make Kavell change his mind.
Kasha Mvashti |
More likely than not, he'd prefer to. They'd have Koya too. I think that's a good enough guard detail. Heavy on melee, full cleric and arcane as well.
Last thing we need is to come back to her kidnapped
Kasha Mvashti |
"Maybe you and Kelda can take care of getting the supplies then." Kasha suggests.
GM_Jadecat |
Sorry for the delay in posting.
Valeria Skendar |
Valeria was starting on her second cup of coffee as Xel got back, swooping in through the door as a dwarf patron entered (probably chosen so that he would have the most clearance on his way in) before quickly banking around to land on the group's table.
"Well, good news and bad news. I know where the guild is, but I also learnt that it's under heavy guard at all hours."
"You didn't go look at the guild yourself?" Valeria asked, eyebrows creased in annoyance.
"Heavy guard means crossbows and people trained to keep an eye out for potential familiars, so you'll forgive me for not taking the chance to become a shish-kebab."
"Xel... the whole point I sent you out was to see if you could get details on any patrol routes the security was making, not a rough description of scale and hours without looking for yourself."
Kavell Speranta |
"Anyone have any specific requests then?"
He asked as they finished up the breakfast only barely glancing at the ... tactically withdrawel proficient familiar that Valeria had, his mind already calculating the sort of things they would need to pick up for their journey. He of course would have to ask Sandru if he had any advice for what to get for their journey
Kasha Mvashti |
The only things that Kasha could think of were probably better left for later. Lia would need clothing other than what she had when she left being a servant, and especially to fight the increasing cold they would face going north.
"Nothing other than a bit of basic shopping I can think of." she answers.
Kasha Mvashti |
Yup.
Kasha Mvashti |
Afterwards Kasha will probably take Lia shopping for clothes, especially for cold weather

Kavell & Kelda
Kavell finds the svelte berserker sitting at a nearby table in the Hunting Serpent Inn, grinning wolfishly with four empty drinking horns around her. Across from her--or, rather, underneath her table--is a fair-skinned man of Tian descent passed out with four drinking horns covering his part of the table.
Kelda doesn't even look buzzed. "Kavell. Where are we going next, eh?"
-----------------
Kasha, Valeria & Friday
Following Xel's directions, the group leaves the Hunting Serpent Inn and makes their way through the busy throng of people to the northwestern quarters of Kalsgard. The fog doesn't seem to be letting up.
The Jade Quarter of Kalsgard, as it turns out, is named for being a home for a steady flow of Tian immigrants coming over the Crown of the World. Most of the homes and buildings here are built in the Minkaian tradition, and blended with the Ulfen culture of northern Avistan. The Jade Quarter also boasts a sizeable population of formerly nomadic Varki--the peoples who make their homes in the frozen wilderness of the mountains beyond Kalsgard.
The Rimerunners' Guildhall is a stately, two-story building made of exquisite marble and exhibiting some of the roofing techniques of the far-off Minkai itself. A heavy, wrought-iron gate with stone walls bars the entrance to the guildhall's front yard, and a pair of surly-looking sentries man the gate itself. The balconies of the guildhall are patrolled by several bored-looking crossbowmen dressed in dark leathers.
Kasha Mvashti |
Studying the impressively built guildhall, Kasha considers their options. "I can get a much more detailed look at everything, including gaps and structural openings, things like that, but it might take a while." she says to her companions.
Valeria Skendar |
"Take your time, I want to be sure before we go in."
Valeria didn't like this. For what resources they had, the building might as well have been a fortress. If they had Ameiko with them, then maybe she could create an opening in the patrols with some well-chosen words (and maybe some gold) but that was too much of a risk.

Nodding Kasha closes her eyes for a moment, before beginning to whisper into thew wind. After a few moments a beautiful butterfly reminiscent of Desna's representation lands on her finger. The shamaness whispers to it for a few minutes before it flutters off toward the building.
